For a small metro area largely unknown even elsewhere in it's own state, the Greater Binghamton area aka the Triple Cities (a historic nickname which referred to Binghamton and it's neighboring former cities turned villages of Johnson City and Endicott) punches wildly above it's weight with it's highly unique hyper-regional cuisine. Among the waves of immigrants brought to the area during it's numerous boom cycles, first as the world shoe-making capitol and later and the original home of IBM and other massive corporations, were Italians who developed among other dishes, the culinary pride of the region, the Spiedie. Skewered cubes of various meats, supposedly originally lamb but now more likely chicken and pork are marinated in a deliciously herbaceous, acidic and garlic heavy blend and spit cooked to perfection, and served in wonderfully crusty sub bread, it's served at bars, diners, pizzerias and elsewhere grilled up in backyard barbecues with store bought marinades at area groceries, and is so beloved it serves as the centerpiece of a annual "Spiedie-fest" food festival and competition. This decades old Endicott takeout institution with a few picnic tables outside and a glorious vintage mid-century sign is widely considered one of the Spiedie GOATS, and is an excellent spot to get a taste of the dish with an extra helping of local flavor. I sampled two of the smaller 6 inch subs one each of pork chicken. Both were marinaded to perfection and accompanied by some of the most perfectly crusty fresh made hero bread I can ever remember having which perfectly absorbed the gloriously flavorful marinade. Oddly enough and consistent with all my previous Spiedie experiences, somehow shockingly it was the chicken which was by far the juicier of the two proteins, while the pork was just the slightest bit on the dry side, although both were extremely tasty. I don't know if this has to due with the respective cuts of pork and chicken that are used for the Spiedies or some alchemy caused by the reaction between the chicken and the marinade, but I am hard pressed to think of another dish where the chicken would be the more juicy of the meats on offer. This curious fact was reinforced by the chicken being slightly more expensive than the pork option. Both were still astonishingly under 6 dollars each, reinforcing the reverse sticker shock you often encounter when seeing the low prices on menus when eating in the area. The merciful pricing continues across the menu, which offers a wide variety of non-spiedie options like Beef and Ham BBQ and Kielbasa subs, burgers and dogs, potato and macaroni salads and much more. I also grabbed a side of gloriously greasy fried pierogis along with my spiedies for $4.55, of which I was only able to enjoy one of due to how stuffed I was from the subs, before packing it up for a snack later. End result; massively delicious, supremely filling meal + leftovers and local anthropology study in one for $16 total.

Delicious and fast! I intended to eat only half of the sandwich h but couldn't help myself and ate the whole thing. Service is efficient and fast (cash only), picnic table outside in the shade.

Lupo's was recommended by a former local and said this was the best place to try a spiedie and it sure did not disappoint! I ordered the chicken spiedie which was juicy and fresh. You gotta love the old school fast food vibe with the retro sign. The service was good as they turn orders around in just a few minutes so it is an ideal stop when on the road like I was.

I will say it is a little weather dependent unless you want to eat barbecue under the pavilion in the rain but personally I think barbecue is best enjoyed in sunny weather. I got the pulled pork dinner with extra bbq sauce and fruit salad and potato salad. My dad got the chicken dinner with salt potatoes and Mac salad. Both dinners came with 2 sides. First off the portions are very generous you definitely won't leave hungry. The pulled pork was delicious and was gone in like 5 minutes! In my opinion the potato salad was a little I guess thick but that's really just a preference thing it was still really good! The fruit salad was pretty basic melons and some strawberries nothing special but again still good. My dad is a big fan of the chicken and this is like his go to bbq spot. The service was good and quick there's really not much of a wait after you order and the grill is full and visible as you go to order. If somehow you still want more after you can go to Big Dipper ice cream literally less than 50 ft away. I paid just a little under $40 and I do think there's a cash discount and I also left a couple bucks for a tip and we got drinks. Overall if you're looking for good legit bbq this is the place to come.

This place isn't necessarily new but we haven't been there before so we figured we would try it. The service was good, I mean nothing outstanding but the waitress was attentive and made sure everything was okay with us. The restaurant itself was also nice inside. No random tables with dirty dishes or anything like that... And now on to the food... I had a burger, it was a specialty burger but I can't remember what it was as it's been a couple weeks. I do recall it had a slice of pineapple on it which was the reason I ordered it because I like pineapple. It was cooked to perfection the way I ordered it, & it was a pretty good burger. Nothing fancy nothing special but I would order it again next time I'm there. My wife had I believe it was a fried cheesecake for dessert and I had the carrot cake once again both of them tasted fine, my only observation that I would possibly change is the piece of carrot cake in my opinion could have been a little larger. And for my wife's entree. She had the jumbo half chicken. Oh my gosh this tasted freaking incredible. Apparently they smoke these half chickens on the premises every morning and they are doing it perfectly The Smoky flavor on this was in no way overpowering and the entire chicken had the flavor throughout. I know I mentioned above that I would order that burger again but actually probably not, when my wife and I go back here (notice I said when and not if) we are most likely both going to order the chicken There isn't too much of a chance either one of us will finish this chicken for lunch as it is indeed a jumbo size, however we took home what she didn't finish, I made some chicken salad out of it for sandwiches and holy crap, the best chicken salad I have ever prepared. The whole experience kind of makes me want to go out and buy a smoker however I'm not convinced I could duplicate the flavor that this had without questioning them a little bit as to exactly how they prepared it and if I were them I wouldn't answer me because why let me make this at home when I'll keep coming back and buying it from them. I believe the price for this particular chicken was $15, and I'm thinking it comes with a side which I'm also thinking is probably about the price you would pay these days if you stopped at a random Firehouse when they were cooking chicken outside and you grabbed a half with a couple sides. This one is better though

Me and my 4 coworkers were all able to order a salad with a side each (fries, chips, rice) all for under $100 (not including the tip). We are excited to go to this restaurant because we have been there a few times before and the service and quality of the food was very very good. The time was the same just with a few adjustments. Of course it is a very busy restaurant and a very enjoyable dining experience. when our waitress who was very attentive asked if we wanted appetizers, and if we were celebrating anything, we did notify her that it was our anniversary that we had received a text message saying that we would be able to have a free appetizer. We did not have that text message, but they were very willing to honor a gift certificate. We enjoyed our appetizer and the bread and oils that they brought to us. Our entrées were ordered, and we had only a few hiccups with the temperatures of the meat. My wife and ordered a steak that would be well done and myself a medium rare steak. Upon arrival for hers, it was undercooked, but paced back on the grill and taken care of with no delay and hassle My steak was undercooked as well, but I had medium rare and it was just rare. They took mine entrée and took it back to the kitchen and recooked itiwith no discrepancy or issues. Upon our referred entrées, we had become full of the delightful bread oils and our appetizer that we were no longer able to continue on with our dinner due to being full. The experience was good and worth the time however there was some disappointment only because the kitchen was full and we had refilled the meals a few times. However, then management was very understanding and came over and talked to us about our concerns, and we explained that we were very excited to eat here and that we understood how busy they were and continue to plan return returning to the restaurant on a less busy night. The management said that the meal was on the restaurant that night and apologized for the inconvenience. I'm leaving the restaurant. The manager only has that we give the restaurant a second chance and come back. We will return to this restaurant. We enjoyed the ambience and the staff and my excellent excellent food.

The food was average, not worth the elevated pricing. The server was rude. We won't be back.read more
