It's been a few months since we switched over to a new insurance plan, but it only occurred to me…read morelast week that my husband and I are due for our dentist visits. So, I called Team Dental to schedule appointments for my husband and me. I did not think there would be any available openings and was expecting to wait 1-2 months before seeing our new dentist. To my surprise, the office manager, Lauren was able to squeeze us in for a weekday evening slot. All my life, I've had to wait 20 minutes or longer in the waiting room before the dentist/dental assistant sees me. But NOT at Team Dental. The dentist/dental assistant/dental hygienist was ready to see me pretty much as soon as I arrived. All the staff at Team Dental are very friendly and professional. My first dentist visit was with Dr. Muhammad. Not only was he super thorough with my examination but he had THE BEST bedside manner of any dentist I've ever seen. After my examination, he explained to me the condition of my teeth and explained why I needed a deep cleaning. I started to freak out about how bad my teeth were, but he was very reassuring and took time to show me photos of worst-case scenario gum disease and that I was nowhere near that. All I had to do was get the deep cleaning and floss a lot more. Cynthia, the dental hygienist who did the deep cleaning for me was amazing too. I was nervous before the deep cleaning because I've never had one done before, but she properly numbed me so that I did not feel any pain. Then she deep cleaned the **** out of my teeth. Never have my teeth felt so good and so clean!!! Seeing the dentalcare I'm getting at Team Dental made me realize what good dentalcare is like. My previous dentists did the bare minimum and were never this thorough. Up to yesterday, I thought my teeth were fine, but they really weren't! Also, Team Dental understands the urgency of the health of your teeth. If you are experiencing pain and the longer care is delayed, the worse your condition will get. They will try to get you in as soon as possible, no matter how busy they are. It is really a great feeling to know the health of your teeth is in good hands with Team Dental.

For all the good things I can say about Team Dental, we often come here to vent. They are good at…read morewhat they do and I recommend the dentistry and doctor. I took umbrage with the business side of the practice for a consultation I had there for an obvious cavity that I wanted to be looked at. Their website said they do consultations so I called and went in. I sat down and the hygienist started to prep for a cleaning. I said no, I was there for a consultation only. They did one xray of the affected tooth, the dentist probed it and my mouth a bit, spending about seven minutes with me. The charge was $150. During the initial call for the appointment, the follow up call, and a call the morning of when they asked if I could come in earlier, there was never any mention of a consultation charge. I would have been far better off just getting a full cleaning and xrays for $250 or whatever it is and the 'consultation' would have been included. Of course, it's their right to charge whatever they want for whatever they do, but they should disclose on the website, or tell you on the phone "we may charge $150 for a brief consultation" for existing patients.

Dr Wu is a great dentist. I have been going for about three years, we did Invisalign (which I…read moresought her out for) a bonding on a sensitive tooth and an old filling repair from a prior dentist. She and her staff have always been very patient with my dental anxiety. She clearly explains what needs to be done vs what would just be an improvement / optional. She also explains every step of the way when completing a procedure. Of course they ask you about tooth whitening but never made me feel self conscious about my smile. I trust Doctor Wu and her staff.

I originally came to Prestige Dental for a cleaning. During that visit, I learned I had a cavity…read morethat eventually required a root canal. While I was receiving treatment, Dr. Wu recommended Invisalign to help reduce crowding and lower the risk of future cavities. I explained to Dr. Wu that I knew very little about Invisalign. I told her the only thing I really knew about orthodontic treatment was that people who get braces typically need to wear a retainer afterward to maintain their results. I also told her that this was the exact reason I had never considered braces. I know myself, and I knew I would not consistently wear a retainer for the rest of my life. Based on that conversation, I was left with the understanding that Invisalign was different. I was told I would only have to wear the aligners for about six months, my teeth would be straight, and I would not have to wear a retainer afterward. I was also told there was a promotion where I could receive $1,000 off the original $5,000 treatment if I signed up. Months later, I returned to have my Invisalign attachments removed and to have my crown placed. When I arrived, Dr. Wu asked Lisa why I was there. Lisa responded that I was there for removal of the attachments, my crown, a cleaning, and retainers. I had only come for my crown and to have the attachments removed, so when retainers were mentioned, I was confused. I asked what she meant by retainers, and that was the first time I was told I would need to wear a retainer to maintain my Invisalign results. I immediately explained that this information had never been disclosed during my consultation and that it was the deciding factor in whether I would have agreed to treatment. Had I been told that maintaining Invisalign results required wearing a retainer, I never would have spent approximately $4,000 on Invisalign. Dr. Wu apologized that I felt misled but never acknowledged that this information should have been discussed during the consultation. When I asked whether she believed the need for a retainer should have been disclosed before I agreed to treatment, she avoided answering the question directly. Instead, she told me that some patients choose not to wear their retainers after Invisalign. I explained that this still did not answer my question because my concern was not whether someone could choose not to wear a retainer. My concern was that I was never given that information before making my decision. The conversation became even more frustrating when Dr. Wu told me that the real reason I did not want the retainer was because I did not want to pay my remaining balance. That was completely false. I told her she was putting words in my mouth. My concern was never the balance. My concern was that I never would have agreed to Invisalign had I been given complete and transparent information during the consultation. She also stated that I was the only patient who had ever said she had "conned" them. I explained that what other patients may or may not have experienced was not relevant to my concern. My concern was that she knew the only reason I would not get braces was because I did not want to wear a retainer afterward, yet she never disclosed that maintaining Invisalign results generally involves wearing one. At that point, Dr. Wu became visibly upset, began pacing, and before I could answer what I wanted to do, she instructed Lisa to collect my remaining balance and see how else she could help me. I told Lisa that I had no issue with having my attachments removed or getting my crown. My issue was with the information that was not disclosed before I agreed to treatment. I left because I felt my concerns were never addressed. Instead of answering my questions directly, I felt they were avoided or reframed. My experience was not about the quality of the dental work itself. It was about transparency, communication, and being able to make a truly informed decision before spending thousands of dollars on treatment.
