I Love Northern Lake George Resort! It is in the heart of nature, the property is beautiful with Lakeside Access... not only do they offer accommodations, but also boat dock rental spaces, and they have a wonderful restaurant with food that is so delicious it makes your mouth water! The lounge serves incredible drinks, and offers live music that is incredible! From international musicians to local artists... it is a treat to be able to listen to this music.. they also offer paint and sip, many activities on the property including free access for guests to canoes, kayaks, and rowboats... for a day adventure on the lake and to the islands... the rooms are authentic to the time period in which they were built... while constant upgrades are happening on the property. Many families return year after year... some have been coming for 35 years or more... as well as new guests arrive to enjoy the beauty and majestic views here.. that only this property has. The experience is worth the price to stay here... even though the price to stay here is accommodating for all people... no matter their pay bracket or social class. Truly a warm and welcoming space where are all welcome and invited... and feel at home... in the Adirondacks! Many other places to stay up here do not care about you, or who you are, or do not even try to get to know you.. the owner is very personable, friendly, kind, and understanding... they also do their own fourth of July fireworks which makes the stay even more magical and wonderful! TLDR: best place to eat on the lake, make a reservation and go! Now on to the full review: Thanks to the foresight of my late grandfather, my family is fortunate enough to have a camp on the northeastern shore of Lake George. Throughout life's ups and downs, I've yet to miss visiting in the summer/fall for any of my 42 years. Lake George is 32 miles long, and the northern basin (north of the "Narrows" group of islands) really is better than the southern half. Why? It's cleaner, less busy, and a lot less commercialized. The trade-off is you're a bit farther from the highways, making the trip to the nearest airports (Albany, NY or Burlington, VT) or rainy day things like the mall a little longer. The northern basin also is not chock full of lakefront restaurants and bars like the south side (Bolton and Lake George village). Anyway, that was a long preamble to Martucci's restaurant. I'll get to the point now: this isn't just the best place to eat in northern lake George, it's the best place to eat on the lake - period! They serve breakfast 7 days a week, and serve dinner Thursday - Sunday evenings 5:30 to 7:30 PM. They've got things like burgers, lamb chops, and salmon every night. There are also rotating specials like their lamb shank. My dad and I were lucky, and went on a night when lamb shank was on the menu. All I can say is: damn it's good! You won't need a knife, it's "fall off the bone" tender. The orzo it's served with is very flavorful too, I believe they cook it in the lamb juices? Rich as lamb is supposed to be, but not overly so. Dad & I agreed it's some of the best lamb we've had! Dinner also included a nice salad (forgot to take a pic) with a choice of 3 dressings: blue cheese, thousand island or oil & vinegar. We both went with blue cheese and it was very tasty. Nice and thick, definitely not from a jar. The rolls were fresh baked and served with Cabot butter, which is the best around. Soup of the day was spinach. Frankly I'm not a big spinach guy, but I had most of my serving. It had a nice flavor and was in what I think was a beef stock. My dad devoured his. We didn't have room for dessert, but they had several options available. We brought our leftovers home and enjoyed them the next day. Throw the lamb and orzo in some Corningware in a 350F oven until it's warmed through, and it's almost as good as the first night. There is also a really cool bar that'll take you back in time to what the "real Adirondacks" used to feel like. Beautiful wood bar, knotty pine paneling, and a booze selection that's more than adequate but not overwhelming. We arrived by boat and docking was a breeze. They had a staff member come out and be kindly assisted with tying up. If you're an inexperienced boater, be mindful of the navigation buoys (as you should already be on this large lake). I'd suggest making a reservation, and arriving early to enjoy a drink on their deck overlooking the lake. They've got nice grounds to walk around too. The owner Dave takes great pride in his family business. We are grateful to have such an amazing place to make new family memories - while enjoying great food amidst true Adirondack ambiance and hospitality. The best analogy I can use for the "Northern Lake George Resort" is a dirty diaper. Seems nice enough on the outside, but something rotten lies within. The first red flag was that the front desk was abandoned 90% of the time. Truly bizarre. The rooms themselves were dirty, shoddily constructed, poorly maintained, and had no hot water. They also possessed paper-thin walls and doors, which led to a lot of noise from adjacent rooms and the area outside. Does this place have a quiet time? People loudly partied until 1 or 2 AM, and it didn't seem like anyone planned on stopping them, even after concerns were raised. This place has the potential to be a great location, but the current non-management, awful upkeep, and failure to maintain even a semblance of order make it seem like nothing more than a pipe dream. I stayed here one night in October of 2013 after planning a last-minute weekend getaway. I stayed at the nearby Trout House on Friday night, but they were already booked full for Saturday night and we came here. This was completely empty... and we soon realized why. When I arrived at noontime, I walked into the lobby and nobody was around. I wandered around inside and outside for around 15 minutes with no sign of anybody. Finally, I called from our cell phone from the parking lot. The owner met me inside. The owner seemed pretty annoyed that I was there looking to book for the night. I had to explain myself as to why I just showed up, as if I was doing something wrong by being there. I paid $150 for a cabin for one night. Compared to other places, the price was on average for the off-season, but considering they offer less amenities than neighboring cabins, the price was slightly high. When I got to my cabin, I was met by an elderly man who was already inside, complaining the whole time. He said he had to turn on the circuit breaker and stove, and it would've been nice if he had advance notice. He went on to complain that he had been given no notice at all and had no time to set it up. Apparently, it wasn't just the owner who was annoyed by me being there. The cabin decor was somewhat dark and gloomy, as opposed to other places which are bright and cheerful (considering people go here for vacations and getaways). There was no wi-fi, which is usually standard at even your basic hotels. I also noticed periodic insects, which is understandable in a cabin in the Adirondacks, but it seemed more than normal in comparison to other cabins. The kitchen was extremely small (a very small area in the corner of the cabin), and was barely stocked with some essential cookware. Most essential items were lacking. Basically, I just didn't feel welcome. I felt like they were doing me a favor by allowing me to stay at their resort, even though I paid a good price for it. The owners/staff were rude and made me feel like I was a burden by being there. I didn't ask them for a single thing for the duration. The advantages are that the resort is lakefront, the cabins have fireplaces (find your own kindling outside, though), and the cabins have small jet tubs (really only big enough for one person). There are many other cabins nearby where the owners would be appreciative to have your business, rather than be made to feel like you can't wait to leave to get out of their hair. This is definitely not the type of place to show up at without a reservation - unless you don't mind being badgered by the staff about it. read more

Great location, old fashion quiet getaway. The lake is clean and cool and we got to canoe. Beautiful scenery. The front desk manager Dave was very nice and helpful. I rented both a villa room and motel room for my group. The villa was very cozy and cute. The motel room was small but good for a smaller family and cheaper. Picnic area is very convenient right outside the villa room. My points to remember: Make sure to bring bug spray. Although it's a little drive to the nearest town, about 20-30 min drive, it's not bad. Little to NO signal or cell service. read more

PROS: Excellent location and view. The small cabin that we rented was nice and house keeping did a very good job maintaining. Sit-down complimentary breakfast was excellent each morning. CONS: The beach is very tiny maybe 15 feet long. In the middle of the small beach of course runs the sewer pipe along with other pipes (see pics I attached). To top it off we experienced a terrible sewer odor at the beach every few minutes throughout our visit. We thought it was a dead fish in the bushes somewhere but unlikely. That is why I bet they don't allow you to come before the 3pm check-in and use their beach (so you don't run away)! In addition, that is why I assume they don't accept AMEX where it's easier to dispute (so no one can leave and cancel). This is a family business, which was passed on to the current owner who is sorry to say rude and has a poor attitude weather he knows it or not. He absolutely does not make you feel welcome which kind of ruins your stay. The deck where the main building is where you can relax and play table tennis was really messy. No one cleaned up old soda cans and a laundry basket was just in the middle with laundry. They could do a better job cleaning that. WIFI is only available in the main building. CONCLUSION: I would bet they do not get any repeat visitors and that is why the owner does not care weather he is rude or nice to guests. All other employees are nice but seem frightened of the owner based on the impression I got. ADVICE TO OWNER Sell your resort to someone who is happy to be around people and is nice. Also, fix the beach so guests do not have to deal with the odor and see sewer pipes. Just trying to help out. The business is not for you. read more

Beautiful location!!! My husband and I truly enjoyed our stay!! I spent childhood summers at the lake so we knew our way around the area. Dave, the owner was incredibly friendly and kind!! Any questions, he was able to answer them, and point us in the right direction. We rented the villa, and was not disappointed. My family and I are attending a wedding near this place in August. I called a few months ago to make sure we could get a room. The women who answered the phone acted like I was wasting her time with my questions. When I told her that it would be me, my husband and my two young children she said 'Oh so you don't have any money" I couldn't believe it! I tried to continue to talk to her but I just couldn't believe how rude she was.
