My husband's family found & stayed at Scotty's 60 years ago. After we were married and had our family in the 80's, my husband brought us there. It was quaint and we adored it! A little rustic at the time but Always clean and the view and relaxation was amazing. Close enough to the village yet just outside the madness that would occur in the city. Perfect. We looked forward to it every Summer Labor Day weekend to be exact! Before long, we began to bring our friends and their families & the tradition continued for many years, but before long our children grew to adults, but still they would pop up there on their own and eventually take their significant other. Sadly though, as time went on, Scotty's got run down & maybe even closed for a while, not sure, and before long we went and we saw a whole street had been torn down to put a major chain hotel in its place. We were so disappointed & didn't go back for many years. Well, now that we have grandchildren, we saw that Scotty's was back in business and part of the better rated hotels, so we took a chance and booked a room for a weekend stay to see if we should bring our family and tell our friends & their families it was time to come back. Well, we are extremely happy to report that Scotty's went far beyond any of our expectations! The place is beautiful! New pool area, playground area, beautiful docking space, rooms are fresh & clean, they have a new cafe with the most delicious breakfast options, also serving lunch & I believe dinner. They have an arcade attached for the kids and a beautiful full bar that overlooks the lake! Cabana style seating outside near the pool, where you can have your drinks if you like, a whole beach area in front of the lake with brand new lounge chairs/umbrellas, also 2 amazing fire pits that are fun to use as a group or sit around and make new friends. We were just blown away by all the new updates! I have to mention the staff! They were attentive and polite and there was always someone around if you had a question, and this is during an off season stay . The lake area was maintained every morning, the sand raked and the chairs neatly lined up and cushions wiped down from the morning dew. You could not ask for more at this place. So if you're looking around and don't know which hotel to pick, I would highly recommend you try Scotty's. The view alone is reasonable to stay there. I am so happy to have seen all the beautiful upgrades and I now look forward to bringing my grandchildren there for lasting memories. It absolutely blew our expectations away!! It's really a beautiful resort for family friends. Some rooms I heard needed some renovations but the room we had #62 was great! Close to everything, pool, Cafe, game room, bar, beach and lake!! It was so convenient to have breakfast and lunch right there by the pool. Food was good too!! They have 2 fire pits they light at night till 11. Cute play ground for kids. Even small patios outside your room with chairs & a table. The only thing I would change in the room we had would be to remove the carpet and put wood flooring. Rooms were kept perfect. Bed made fresh towels everyday! We did have a leaky faucet and it was fixed immediately! Highly recommend scottys. Can't wait to go back!! read more

We stayed there this past week, 7/5 to 7/8 . From the moment we arrived, we were treated with professionalism. From the front desk, to the cleaning staff, to the people working the cafe and bar, everyone made us feel welcome. We booked a sunset cruise at the Lake George Steamboat Company. we opted for the 2 hour cruise. you can have dinner on the boat, but we opted for just the cruise. Very enjoyable. It was on the boat called the Saint Sacrement. Rooms at the resort were clean. Check in is at 4 pm, and check out is 10 am. we were told we could come early and enjoy the resort, and they would call us when the room was ready. Same for check out. You can stay later. We met several people who had been there multiple times, and I can see why!! WE WILL BE BACK NEXT YEAR read more

Just stayed there. Beautiful resort. Good location. Won't stay again due to that it doesn't seem that the staff/workers are on top of the guests. Seemed like people were able to take over the place. Personal belongings went missing and when I saw item with another guest and asked hotel to view camera they said "cameras were down" so make sure you write your name on ALL your belongings :/ .. also there were many noisy guests and not much done about that also. Friendly staff and great location. I recommend rent the cottage near the lake for the best view and to avoid people playing music while doing barbeque. If your looking for a quite, away from noise kind of a get-away then your in the wrong place. We have stayed in other lake George village waterfront motels for many years. We thought switching to Scotty's would be an upgrade and were sadly mistaken. The only thing they have going for them is the nice large beach and decent pool. To say the rooms have been renovated is a gross overstatement. The renovation involved painting the bathroom, which is now peeling off to show the rust below. All of the grout is peeling throughout and everything looks sterile. The tv, room phone and multiple lights by the beds all did not work. There is something off with the electric wiring because my iphone rejected the charge for overheating. You also cannot adjust the AC without standing on a bed to see the controls. read more

We booked Scotty's for a mini 3-day vacation and here's our general impression of the resort. Pros: - Fab Location: The resort is located really close to the village (less than a 5 min drive). - Convenient on-site amenities: Clean adult & kid pools for hotel guests, there's a well built kid park that was recently built, a closed-off beach for hotel guests, asphalt everyone was recently redone. There's also a resto/bar for those who wants to stay in the resort (mind they close EVERYTHING down at 8 PM!). - WIFI was solid. No issues. Fast connection. Cons: - Outdated Rooms: Equipped with an ancient AC that produces loud noises when starting up, emits smelly odors and runs inefficient. We noticed a very distinctive smell when we first got into the room and we weren't offered another room when we complained about it (from what I read from other reviews, this may not be an isolated case). They offered to clean the room, which we accept to little improvement. I quickly drove to Target and bought some Fabreeze and a few sprays every few hours removed the smell. We left the can in the room for the next guest. Hope the staff were courteous enough to leave it in there for them. This is a huge issue and honestly, embarrassing. - No Kid Rails: Even though this hotel caters to families with many young children, to not offer bed rails is such a poor decision. We brought ours when we were told ahead of time they didn't offer any and ended up forgetting our bed rail behind when we left. Housekeeping didn't notice there was a bed rail in the room(??) when they prepped the room for the next guest and despite us calling them several times they somehow misplaced our bed rail. We had to chase Scottys to get a resolution and ultimately, Stephanie graciously credited the replacement bed rail (same model) we had to buy and saved them a 1 star rating. - Someone on staff needs to spend a little time cleaning the shore of all the weed deposits on a daily basis, preferably early in the morning. Maybe rake the sand a bit. It'll go a long way considering a number of young children get curious and shouldn't be touching that stuff and having a clean beach should be something to be proud of. read more

The place itself is nice. Short walk down to the dock and beach area. The pool is nice as well. Rooms were average. But they fell short in a few areas. For one, our room smelled terribly. It was the AC unit but there was nothing they could do about it. Secondly, they close the pool, bar, and food area at 8 pm! So if you want anything to eat or do after 8 you have to go out into town somewhere. There's no lighting at all on the playground for kids so once it gets dark even if they're still playing you need flashlights or back to the room. The fire pit they have every night is awesome, but they prohibit making s'mores - come on now what's a campfire without s'mores! All in all, it was pretty average and we'd stay again if the price is right. Needs updating for sure. read more

My husband and I are on our way home from Lake George right now. We were there celebrating our 28th Anniversary and we had an amazing time at Scotty's Lakeside. You can not beat the beautiful grounds, views and the rooms were very comfortable. Short walk to downtown. They still had some Covid restrictions in play such as no housekeeping services bu if they saw you sitting outside your room in the morning you received whatever supplies you needed. Everyone from Musa to the lady in the caf were very polite and pleasant to speak to. I would stay there again in a heart beat read more

If you book this "resort' I would recommend staying closer to the water Lakeview or lakefront otherwise you will be on the main road with people right on top if you and vehicles going in and out all day. Room was clean, furniture and walls quite beat up, mattresses were quite hard. Did not have a good sleep. Shower was great very hot water. Small frig was full of sand on the shelves and microwave was pretty old. Beach was perfect plenty chairs, only one gas fire pit for resort which got full fairly quickly. You can rent kayaks etc. Little cafe and bar, but bar was not open. Definitively place for kids pool with small water feature. read more

So here's the thing, first impressions to me are everything! You pull in and you are faced with a stunning view of the lake. The resort definitely is inviting as far as the set up. Once you drive down the hill you see the decent sized pool and kiddie pool/splash area, and the sand area with playground and chairs and lounges set up. There are water toys to the left: kayaks, paddle boards, tubes, small boats etc available to rent by hour. There's a dock where people were fishing and a small roped off area to swim. We did a lot of research and I have to set this outside setup is great for kids. No lifeguard on duty in either spot just an FYI. One thing that we didn't like was the kids pool/splash area water is freezing! Honestly our daughter couldn't go in it because the pressure was really hard mixed with the freezing cold so she just stayed in the heated larger pool. There's a concession area next to the beach area- indoor and a small arcade but we didn't take advantage of this as there's such great food elsewhere. My biggest disappointment here is the room. We paid near $500 for our two nights weds-Friday so one night was more money, and to be honest I don't think they should even have people staying in this room. It's really unacceptable. We were in room 29, FYI if you book- and the hotel clearly states that it has been renovated so you have that assumption before going. Clearly ours wasn't and when we mentioned that to the front desk they said they must not have gotten to that room yet. Thanks! Still the same price though? That's not right. The ceiling from the closet to the bathroom was literally completely caving in, broken and just plain gross. The bathroom is covered in rust and stains. Water pressure is very bad. You can feel the floor buckling as you walk in the bathroom. While the bed was comfy and the room is clean-the staff does a great job, the actual room is just in desperate need of repair. There's an odd kitchenette as well which we didn't even go near because it just looks gross. I really loved the spot because it's a close walk to town. The fireworks on Thursday can be seen perfectly on their beachfront, and the outside setup is really great for kids. We came here for a mini family vacation for 4 nights recently. The accommodations were adequate, the room was clean, the facilities (especially the pool, playground and beach area) were great. We happened to come during the hottest days of the year so far (three of the four days were 90+ degrees) the AC in the room kept up well. I can't say enough good about the staff there. They were attentive to our needs (we came with three small children, the littlest of which was 1 and 1/2). They delivered a pack and play for us without any issue (within 5 minutes of asking). The cleaning staff were wonderful, and were will and able to personally accommodate out children's nap times. This is not a ritzy 5 star hotel, so don't go there expecting gold adorned faucets and 1000 thread count sheets. We had a wonderful time, and would come back. So I gonna start with the good stuff. My kids loved it!!! I have a 5,4 and 1 year old kids we stay there for memorial weekend 4 days, 3 nigth. Best place for kids! The little play ground for kids, the pool for kids, lake front all in one place u see your kids all the time and u can sit and watch them having fun. My kids absolutely enjoy evry secend! The room also comfortably, the people who work there also very nice and ready to help. I will go back. Now what they can improved is: the internet very very slow and bo reseption as well when we come to our room it was fernuture nof in use from other rooms so we call to the office and they come to take it but instad of relax in the pool we needed to wait for 3 houres to remove it it was 2 TV on the floor, table, couch one on top of each other. Then ants oh the minet you live something they coming no idea why and I have 3 kids so u know the cookie fall million ants coming so u actually need to keep it clean, they do clean your room but it can be late afternoon so better just m as ke sure its look ok and nothing on the floor that the ants not gonna come. I also think this playground can be fixed a little and colored by the way this was my favorite part! The minet mu kids wake up they run to the play ground but very sad it so old and some of the swings broken. And the last thing is the coffe. They sale only eggs and waffle and potatoes for brackets. (Few more stuff like serial in a box). Why? Brackfast is so important why not to offer alot of stuff. Like pancakes with banana? Meyby panini salad? So many kids there. Even to put ice cream machin. Another good trip to Scotty's, overall good but there are some things that could be improved considering the price. The good - windows have been replaced on many units, the grounds are well kept, playground, lake, kayak rentals etc and the snack bar has good food and is reasonable. The not so good - sprots equipment like ping pong balls and volleyballs were either damaged or couldn't find at times so disappointing to kids who want to play; at least on weekends, it would be good to have the bar and snacks open until 9 or so. In our room, the screen to the bathroom window wouldn't secure properly so it let in a lot of tiny flies, too. Teresa (cleaning staff) checked in on us a few times during our stay which was great - we've stayed here several times and no one has done that before. The room was clean and comfortable, with a coffee maker and plenty of cable TV stations so we could watch our home team's MLB playoff game. We were able to park right outside the room. We had such a pleasant stay here at Scotty's during Memorial Day Weekend! There was a group of 9 of us in 4 different rooms. We all checked in on Thursday, which we later found out was opening day. The resort was quiet and quaint on Thursday, as was the rest of the town. Our a/c wasn't getting cold the first night so we slept with the windows open. We called the front desk in the morning and told them- they were quick to take care of it. Maintenance tested it out, confirmed it wasn't working correctly, apologized and said that due to the resort just opening for the season they rely on guests to point out things that may need to be fixed (it turned on, so during their room inspections they had checked it off as working). They very quickly and pleasantly replaced our a/c unit with a newer digital one and it worked perfectly fine! The rooms were clean and big enough for exactly what we needed. The resort was fully booked by day 2 as it was Memorial Day weekend. Even being "packed", we never felt like it was over crowded or we were on top of people by any means. The beach area was nice with plenty of chairs, the pool looked nice and fun! There's an eatery and a sports bar right on the grounds which was convenient. The credit card machines were down during or stay, but again, they just reopened for the season and had a kink. It was nothing that ruined our stay by any means. They also have kayaks, paddle boards, paddle boats, etc for rent for $10 and hour so that was fun! I've stayed at many places in Lake George and most have smelled musty just looked run down. For a pretty inexpensive stay, I was really happy with our stay here on the lake! read more

Just returned from a two night stay at Scottys. I am giving them 4 stars because the room was in need of updating. A new rug and paint job would do wonders. Smelled musty and very noticeable dirt marks on walls. The shower/ tub had black gouges in it. With that being said, the grounds made up for it. Didn't spend much time in the room anyway. The lake was beautiful. The pool clean, the bar and cafe is a nice touch. Will definately be going back. read more

We arrived here on Labor Day. We were told the pool and cafe would be closing on 9/8. They stayed open the whole time we were there. I was told some times the front office has misinformation. The stay was just ok. Came here w my BF for a getaway. Stayed for 4 nights. Great location. Bolton landing was about 15 min Away. lake George shopping & restaurants down the street. Located On the lake. Activities like water sports can be rented on the resort which was a great convenience and prices were fair. Try to get a room on the lake w lake view otherwise it's noisy. Music. And kids. If your looking for a quiet spot, this isn't the place. It's good for families w young kids. Bc of the playground and pool area. The service is pretty good. Seems like all young kids work here. There is no hairdryer or iron in the room. Not sure if you call the front office: if any are available. The small microwave / mini fridge helped. The room could use some updating, new beds & rugs would help. Small cafe on site for your convenience. We never ate there. We noticed that a lot of restaurants were closed during the week on random days like Tues/ wed. read more

Came here with family for a quick one night mini vacation. We were all blown away with the quality this place has to offer! We usually avoid motels and aim for hotels but this place is a huge exception to that. Our two rooms were very clean and comfortable, the pool and playground area were nice and well kept and we loved the beach are with a ping pong table, plenty of beach chairs, and very fun kayak and paddle boat rentals. I'd give 3.5 if I could. The Beach area, pool and kids playground were great! View was great! Lots of kids for ours to play with and everyone staff and guests were very friendly. The pool was beautiful but get there early to grab a chair because there wasn't enough for the number of guests and at least four of the chairs I saw were broken. Beach had lots of chairs available but were designated beach chairs. Our room though was SOO disappointing. Two bedroom room and it had barely any room for a travel crib. We had to put the travel Crib in the queen size bedroom and used the two full beds for ourselves. No door on the queen room with full access to the main door to outside and just a sliding door on the full size room which doubles as the closet door. One room only had dressers the other had only a closet. Lock on door was extremely easy for a toddler to figure out in 30 seconds and was unlocked & opened repeatedly the entire stay, bring childproofing for a handle door if bringing young kids. The AC in our room was terrible, it was either freezing or boiling hot all night. There was this Fantom smell that kept appearing all week and the last night it was so bad, it Ended up being the AC unit. Thankfully the AC in our kids room was good. The queen room phone, light and fan were broken when we arrived, Maintenance was prompt and tried but wasn't able to fix it. Phone ended up being a phone company issue. The outside was great but for how much this place cost I was expecting to not have things broken or smell and at least be able to fit a travel crib when it's a family oriented resort. If you have young kids that still nap, you end up being inside more than you'd like, it was unpleasant to in the room for too long. Spent most naps sitting outside on the porch. read more

I want to give Scotty's 2 and a half stars. First of all, I want to say that I really, really, really wanted to like this place more! When I first drove up, I was so excited! It looked so quaint and "camp resort"-like (it reminded me of the lake houses on "Dirty Dancing"). I went with my sister-in-law and her family for a 3 night visit. We requested that our rooms be next to each other - but they weren't. The lady at the service desk tried to accommodate us when we asked if there was any way to rectify the situation, but she couldn't. She was very nice. Everyone there that we met was personable. So...here's my feedback: Rooms: We booked a 2 double bed room. It was clean, the linen was fine - the only complaint that I have about that is housekeeping didn't remake the beds in the morning; they just fixed the top comforter and didn't straighten the sheets. Minor. The bathroom was clean but very, very outdated. It still has the old (and rusting, in our case) mirrored medicine cabinets! Not enough bathroom counter space at all. The worst part about our room was that it was cooled by a window a/c unit. My sister-in-law's room was, too, but hers was a bigger unit and cooled the room down better. Ours was smaller and was not very efficient. We had to keep the fan on high at 60 degrees at all times for it to be adequate. Beach/pool area: Oh my. I was so disappointed. The beach area in the pictures looks so great, but in reality not so much. At all. It is so small. So, so small. And it was dirty when we were there. Random trash floating in the lake...no real designated area to swim (not that I wanted to after looking at the water there)...it just wasn't kept up at all. The pool is very small too, and everyone was in it, so you really couldn't swim there. The place is on a very steep hill...be cautious if you have a physical disability. I don't know how Scotty's relates to other resorts in the area. Perhaps they are all like that - old, kind of run down and out dated, small beaches, not enough space for everyone - and that is just what to expect at Lake George. I don't know - it's the first time I've stayed overnight in that area. So, there you have it - my humble review. Maybe I wouldn't have been so disappointed if the room wasn't so expensive. Maybe my expectations were too high. I won't be going there again, though. read more

My family has been staying at Scotties since the early eighties. Sometimes it was a little run down and sometimes it was nice but we have been loyal customers.. Unfortunately it has come to an unfortunate end. We had a vacation planned when I came down with Covid 19 and had to cancel. My wife called days before we were due to arrive and explained the situation. My wife suggested that they take our deposit money and move it to a rescheduled date. The person that claimed to be the office manager was very unprofessional and stated we would lose our deposit unless I got a registered Covid 19 test results from the county I live in. I home tested twice and was positive so I was quarantining so how could I go out and get this test and have it registered with the county. My wife then stated we would meet her half way and requested a refund for 1/2 the deposit, she abruptly declined it. in closing Scotties has to relook at this policy and needs to relook at the people they have managing there office, it's disgraceful. We will be visiting Lake George but not at Scotties since they don't value their customers.. read more

We just spent 3 days at the resort. Great find in Lake George Village. Walking distance into town, without being 'in' town. Resort is On the lake - private beach. Very clean, recently updated rooms and beautiful well maintained common areas. It was just my husband and I who traveled this time, but this place is fantastic for family. They have a snack bar which makes great breakfast, burgers and pizza - the pizza was great and newly added to the menu. They have a lounge with a bar. Frozen drinks available as well. In ground pool and kiddie pool. Boat rentals are reasonable. Great fire pit every night. Each room has a fridge, microwave and coffee maker. Cable tv. Air conditioning. All the comforts of home. Updated clean bath - could use some Safety railings in the tub (tub is narrow and gets slippery with shampoo and conditioner... not a good combination). They don't provide pool towels so bring your own. Also there are no safes in room or on property, but would be a welcomed addition. Overall great stay and we would come back. Lastly the staff were all very pleasant to deal with. We spent some time talking with Conner at the pub and he was the best!!. Gave us some great places to go as we haven't been to LG in many many years. read more

Staying here this weekend. Called a week ahead of time to ensure an early check in they told me it's not guaranteed but to call the morning of. I called the morning of as we were traveling close to 5 hours to get here. They said our room would be ready for when we got here. Showed up at 12 they said the room would be ready within an hour or so and it's not 3 hours later and the room is still not ready. The cleaner was in the room cleaning I walked in and asked if possible to use the bathroom she said I'm not allowed in the room till check in with a very rude attitude. I understand the room is not guaranteed but don't tell me it's not going to be ready within an hour if it's not going to be. Also I'm pretty sure they gave our room away cause originally we were suppose to have room 6 which was on all our paper work. Then when I checked in they said oh you got a better room but in reality wasn't a better room it's on the steep hill. And I see that the people in room 6 have already been in their room enjoying it. Credit card machine is also down on the property so unable to get anything from the ice cream shop or the cafe. Doesn't mention about needing cash to rent the kayaks. Nobody carry's cash anymore on them. So far i am Not happy with my stay and I haven't even got to My room. Got into the room housekeeper left a soap from the previous customers in shower used. The two nights we stayed there could hear everyone and their mother from your room which kept us up throughout both nights. The door didn't shut properly which made me very nervous. I came to Scotty's Lakeside Resort for two nights from June 12 to June 14th with my husband and two little kids. The place where hotel is located was very beautiful. But this is the only good thing I can say about that place. From the moment we got there it was a company from around ten people. They have been drinking all day being way too loud and they curse left and right. They pretty much occupied all the area on the beach. And they party through the night up until 2:30 in the morning for two nights. My family didn't get any rest. The day before we left a few families came over and also drink heavily while being with their kids one of the couple got into a physical fight. In front of my kids. We called a front desk and no one threw away those people from the hotel. You just cannot call yourself as family place after all. After al, we paid $170 a night and had a horrible time at that place. You cannot run business that way. read more

Rooms, pool, lake beach, and cafe are all very excellent. Unfortunately, we did not have the best experience at Scotty's. First, we had asked for no house keeping. There is no paper sign to use on your front door to request this, so I had called and asked the front desk. We were told our request was approved, and we would receive no housekeeping. The very next day we had housekeeping come to our room (after 6pm). We told the front desk staff and they said they would "look into this." Second, we had a large beeping noise coming from our bathroom window, about every 10 minutes. This was so loud it would keep us up at night and wake us up in the morning. I complained three times to the front desk and they just kept saying they would "look into it." Upon checkout, when I complained again, I was told it was the hot water heater (every time hot water ran it would go off). Overall, I found the staff to be friendly but unhelpful in our situations. If you are coming here, I would recommend asking to be nowhere near a room that is next the hot water heater. read more
