Cabana style seating overlooking the lake

My husband's family found & stayed at Scotty's 60 years ago. After we were married and had our family in the 80's, my husband brought us there. It was quaint and we adored it! A little rustic at the time but Always clean and the view and relaxation was amazing. Close enough to the village yet just outside the madness that would occur in the city. Perfect. We looked forward to it every Summer Labor Day weekend to be exact! Before long, we began to bring our friends and their families & the tradition continued for many years, but before long our children grew to adults, but still they would pop up there on their own and eventually take their significant other. Sadly though, as time went on, Scotty's got run down & maybe even closed for a while, not sure, and before long we went and we saw a whole street had been torn down to put a major chain hotel in its place. We were so disappointed & didn't go back for many years. Well, now that we have grandchildren, we saw that Scotty's was back in business and part of the better rated hotels, so we took a chance and booked a room for a weekend stay to see if we should bring our family and tell our friends & their families it was time to come back. Well, we are extremely happy to report that Scotty's went far beyond any of our expectations! The place is beautiful! New pool area, playground area, beautiful docking space, rooms are fresh & clean, they have a new cafe with the most delicious breakfast options, also serving lunch & I believe dinner. They have an arcade attached for the kids and a beautiful full bar that overlooks the lake! Cabana style seating outside near the pool, where you can have your drinks if you like, a whole beach area in front of the lake with brand new lounge chairs/umbrellas, also 2 amazing fire pits that are fun to use as a group or sit around and make new friends. We were just blown away by all the new updates! I have to mention the staff! They were attentive and polite and there was always someone around if you had a question, and this is during an off season stay . The lake area was maintained every morning, the sand raked and the chairs neatly lined up and cushions wiped down from the morning dew. You could not ask for more at this place. So if you're looking around and don't know which hotel to pick, I would highly recommend you try Scotty's. The view alone is reasonable to stay there. I am so happy to have seen all the beautiful upgrades and I now look forward to bringing my grandchildren there for lasting memories. We highly recommend you visit Scotty's if it was once a favorite of yours to or if it is a first time visit to Lake George. We can't wait to go back!

This is the best priced hotel Right on the lake I think With ample docking and water toys, brand new lounge chairs and umbrellas, clean pool and kiddy pool, BBQ area , small full bar , small cafe for snacks There will be a perfect room right next to the lake or pool for your enjoyment The building/site must be old but rooms are all redone and aren't outdated it has flat screen mounted tv's, microwave, fridge, white bleached linens, out door chairs in front of your room It's not a 5 star resort or hotel but it's Clean just not detailed clean to my liking

We booked Scotty's for a mini 3-day vacation and here's our general impression of the resort. Pros: - Fab Location: The resort is located really close to the village (less than a 5 min drive). - Convenient on-site amenities: Clean adult & kid pools for hotel guests, there's a well built kid park that was recently built, a closed-off beach for hotel guests, asphalt everyone was recently redone. There's also a resto/bar for those who wants to stay in the resort (mind they close EVERYTHING down at 8 PM!). - WIFI was solid. No issues. Fast connection. Cons: - Outdated Rooms: Equipped with an ancient AC that produces loud noises when starting up, emits smelly odors and runs inefficient. We noticed a very distinctive smell when we first got into the room and we weren't offered another room when we complained about it (from what I read from other reviews, this may not be an isolated case). They offered to clean the room, which we accept to little improvement. I quickly drove to Target and bought some Fabreeze and a few sprays every few hours removed the smell. We left the can in the room for the next guest. Hope the staff were courteous enough to leave it in there for them. This is a huge issue and honestly, embarrassing. - No Kid Rails: Even though this hotel caters to families with many young children, to not offer bed rails is such a poor decision. We brought ours when we were told ahead of time they didn't offer any and ended up forgetting our bed rail behind when we left. Housekeeping didn't notice there was a bed rail in the room(??) when they prepped the room for the next guest and despite us calling them several times they somehow misplaced our bed rail. We had to chase Scottys to get a resolution and ultimately, Stephanie graciously credited the replacement bed rail (same model) we had to buy and saved them a 1 star rating. - Someone on staff needs to spend a little time cleaning the shore of all the weed deposits on a daily basis, preferably early in the morning. Maybe rake the sand a bit. It'll go a long way considering a number of young children get curious and shouldn't be touching that stuff and having a clean beach should be something to be proud of.

The room was uninhabitable!!! It was filthy. There were bugs, blood on the wall and stains on the bedding!!! We left early and are waiting for a full refund!!! Zero stars!

So here's the thing, first impressions to me are everything! You pull in and you are faced with a stunning view of the lake. The resort definitely is inviting as far as the set up. Once you drive down the hill you see the decent sized pool and kiddie pool/splash area, and the sand area with playground and chairs and lounges set up. There are water toys to the left: kayaks, paddle boards, tubes, small boats etc available to rent by hour. There's a dock where people were fishing and a small roped off area to swim. We did a lot of research and I have to set this outside setup is great for kids. No lifeguard on duty in either spot just an FYI. One thing that we didn't like was the kids pool/splash area water is freezing! Honestly our daughter couldn't go in it because the pressure was really hard mixed with the freezing cold so she just stayed in the heated larger pool. There's a concession area next to the beach area- indoor and a small arcade but we didn't take advantage of this as there's such great food elsewhere. My biggest disappointment here is the room. We paid near $500 for our two nights weds-Friday so one night was more money, and to be honest I don't think they should even have people staying in this room. It's really unacceptable. We were in room 29, FYI if you book- and the hotel clearly states that it has been renovated so you have that assumption before going. Clearly ours wasn't and when we mentioned that to the front desk they said they must not have gotten to that room yet. Thanks! Still the same price though? That's not right. The ceiling from the closet to the bathroom was literally completely caving in, broken and just plain gross. The bathroom is covered in rust and stains. Water pressure is very bad. You can feel the floor buckling as you walk in the bathroom. While the bed was comfy and the room is clean-the staff does a great job, the actual room is just in desperate need of repair. There's an odd kitchenette as well which we didn't even go near because it just looks gross. I really loved the spot because it's a close walk to town. The fireworks on Thursday can be seen perfectly on their beachfront, and the outside setup is really great for kids. Hopefully next year they will have updated all rooms giving customers the same consistent stay for the price. The room really was just a big turn off for me I'm sorry to say!

We came here for a mini family vacation for 4 nights recently. The accommodations were adequate, the room was clean, the facilities (especially the pool, playground and beach area) were great. We happened to come during the hottest days of the year so far (three of the four days were 90+ degrees) the AC in the room kept up well. I can't say enough good about the staff there. They were attentive to our needs (we came with three small children, the littlest of which was 1 and 1/2). They delivered a pack and play for us without any issue (within 5 minutes of asking). The cleaning staff were wonderful, and were will and able to personally accommodate out children's nap times. This is not a ritzy 5 star hotel, so don't go there expecting gold adorned faucets and 1000 thread count sheets. We had a wonderful time, and would come back. Thanks Scotty's for a great stay.

The room had two king beds, a small miracle for a man accustomed to one, and the soundproofing was a triumph of human engineering. Even with Oktoberfest raging below, once the balcony door was closed the silence was so complete that I could almost hear my own thoughts apologizing for existing. The hotel sits right on Canada Street, which is the main artery of Lake George's little heart. Shepard Park is practically across the street, full of families, music, and the particular chaos of people on vacation trying to have a perfect time. The staff managed to stay cheerful through it all, smiling with the kind of sincerity that must come from good training or good souls. Parking was a game of Tetris, but I was grateful for the garage. Once my car was wedged in, I had no reason to drive again. Everything that mattered was within walking distance. The rooftop terrace deserves a poem, though I am too lazy to write one. The lake spread out below, blue and calm, and for a few minutes I believed in peace on earth. There is no hot tub, which feels like a crime against nature. The patio outside the pool almost begs for one. Imagine sitting there in January, snow falling into the water, steam rising like forgiveness. The restaurant did not thrill me, and the prices made my wallet flinch. Still, it was a fine stay, the kind that makes you feel momentarily better about the human race before the bill arrives to remind you of reality. Four stars. A lovely place, too expensive for what it is, but worth remembering all the same.

We have been coming every winter for the past six years and have made some terrific memories here…read more There is so much I genuinely like about this place. The location is convenient and feels like part of our ritual now. The staff are almost uniformly kind and welcoming to our kids and us. They remember us, greet us cheerfully and make this feel like a home base. The outdoor hot tub was a particularly welcome amenity on this past brutally cold weekend and it helped us warm up a chill that seemed to go straight to our bones after time outside on the lake. It really is one of those few places that feels like a welcome retreat no matter the weather. If there weren't any flaws, this would be a much easier review to write. But there are flaws, and they are things that should have been tended to long ago. The rooms have definitely seen better days. Many of our dresser drawers barely opened. The refrigerator was hardly cool. Furniture had visible damage and some of the electrical outlets were non-functional or battered to the points that plugs fell right out f them. These are not deal breaking in isolation but taken together they left us feeling that the room was tired and poorly maintained. A little thoughtful maintenance or investment here could go a long way and make the rooms feel a lot more comfortable. Another disappointment this year was the breakfast buffet at TRs Restaurant. In years past it was a highlight and something our kids looked forward to to prepare for a cold morning out. This visit, the quality seemed to have declined and the selection felt smaller. The restaurant itself still has a lovely lake view and a cozy fireplace, and the service was still friendly and attentive, but the breakfast spread did not live up to our memories. So I find myself landing on a three star rating. If you take this place for what it can still be, it is a wonderful family resort with great staff and some truly nice amenities. But right now the condition of the rooms and some of the public areas combined with the breakfast experience hold it back from being the much stronger destination I know it can be. Here is hoping that ownership puts some money back into the property so it can recapture its full potential.

Properties are beautiful and well appointed but they are notorious for after charges with claims. My recent stay I was not happy that they don't release the address until check in time especially when traveling 3 hours to get there. Overall, the unit was relatively clean, although I did find hair left in the shower and cobwebs in the bunk area. The hot tub had not been cleaned and, despite being covered, was full of leaves and bugs. The shower water pressure was extremely weak and noticeable cob webs throughout the home. Also, the bunk bed is listed as a king bed, which is inaccurate. Despite these issues, I was happy with my stay and was even considering booking one of their properties again. Several days after my stay I discovered an unexpected $500 charge on my credit card with absolutely no notice or warning. When I checked the app to find out what the charge was for, I found a message from the host simply stating: "stained linens throughout the rental." This accusation was both vague and unreasonable. We barely used the rental and only slept in one of the 3 beds and followed all check out rules to leave the unit spotless. To be charged $500 after the fact, without any prior communication, photos, evidence, or opportunity to discuss the issue, was extremely disappointing and has completely changed my opinion of this property management company. After contacting Vrbo to dispute the charge and multiple attempts to contact the property with no response. northern provided photo proof of alleged soiled linens. 1. A kitchen towel/rag that had signs of food on it (washable), 2. A pillow case with a slight soiled spot (washable) and 3. A towel that had dirt marks on it (washable). All issues were normal use and could be washed and definitely did not result in the need to replace: as requested by northern to the extent of 1. 2 pillow shams (only one was soiled) 2. a new comforter which they had no proof of any damage to 3. New dish towel 4. 6 full sets of towels (only one set was even used - they provided 3 total - 1 set for each bed and the unused ones remained folded in place where they were placed by northern) Potential guests should be aware of the possibility of additional charges, inaccurate bed sizes and most important significant post-stay charges and proceed with caution. Inspect every inch upon arrival and before departure and take photos and videos. Or even better. Don't stay at their properties at all.

Hopefully they truly get themselves together and change the policies so it's safer when kids are in the area. Thank you for listening.

Service: One server for our party, she was nice but a little oddly for a server she didn't know what ginger ale was and wasn't sure if they had decaf. Our food came out with a pretty big gap between plates, I was finished with mine by the time another in our party got hers. I will say they were very gracious seeing as we were a half hour late. Food: Pretty underwhelming, you could get similar or better food at your local diner. Menu is somewhat limited as well especially for sides and drinks. I got the french toast, it wasn't very moist at all, uninteresting flavor, the strawberry garnish was dried up on the inside so must have been left out for a while, bacon was fine, maple syrup was good. I had a few bites of the omelette which was good and home fries which were on the dry side and without much flavor. Value: It wasn't too expensive thankfully despite being marketed as a 'fine dining experience' I'd say value was about even with the low quality food, french toast was $11. Overall definitely would not recommend, you could get better food at a diner or cafe.

No…read morereally, this motel is literally steps to your foodie destinations, and is ideal for a romantic getaway for the 4th of July, like we did, or to get close to the family and kids. The Heritage grounds are absolutely perfect - clean, fresh, and well maintained on every level. The pool was clear and clean, both in and around the gated pool area. I truly love that you have the option of playing some shuffleboard or corn hole as you dry off from all the cannon balls you did in the pool. The fire pit is my personal favorite, and love this as a perfect night cap to sit and listen to the songs of nature or music from your phone! If you check in on Yelp, don't forget to claim your s'mores kit! I'm a sucker for s'mores! The room we had, Room #118, was a really quiet room. The housekeeping did a great job preparing the room for our arrival, and cleaned it to perfection on days we wanted the room made up. Our room was equipped with two queen size beds, so there was no cover hogging on this trip. The bathroom is on the smaller side, but comes complete with everything you would need for a getaway. The heated lamps in the bathroom are a nice touch, especially on cooler nights. Our shower had a continuous leak that we couldn't adjust, so we had to let the water drip; we couldn't hear anything over the AC, so that was fine with us. The continental breakfast is on the sweeter, more sugary side, and we honestly decided to explore other options for breakfast to better start our day. If we were going to be bad eating this vacation, we wanted to make the calories count - like, ice cream every night for example. The staff and overall spotlessness of the Heritage is what really made us come again for the third time in a row; we will see you again soon!

Yes the grounds are beautiful and the ceremony in front of the lake was breathtaking but what makes this venue stand out are the wedding coordinators, Mark and Nikky. Extremely responsive and knowledgeable yes, friendly and easy to work with yes - but the dedication they give towards making sure your wedding day is perfect is just amazing. On the day of the wedding, they were everywhere, making sure decorations were perfect, responding to every inquiry and handling every detail with ease and professionalism. Aside from all of this, as if this wasn't enough, they are just so personable. I left feeling like I had just made two friends, they went above and beyond for us and our families and without a doubt enhanced our wedding beyond what we even hoped for. Go here for your wedding, book well in advance because they fill up fast, and you will see what I mean. Mark and Niikky - a thousand thanks to both of you, you made everything perfect and were an absolute joy to work with. Jeni and Phil

She could care less about the customer, or her staff. She literally put her hand over her employees mouth and told her not to speak. All because we were inquiring about additional charges they tried to make us pay. They didn't care that they were undisclosed, and we were told it was our problem not theirs. When we tried to talk it out, they told us to leave and canceled our reservation. Thank god for the other local places. We ended up with a better place and a better price.
