We come here 5x's a week, once a year. Nothing better. It's funny that "Karen" gives them a 1 star because they were closed for a staffing issue. She's probably the same lady who puts her tent up in front of mine at the beach. Food - 5*, Service - 5*, Vibe - 5*. Mad Karen - 0*. WE LOVE NLB!

Remotely ordered custom cakes in advance of a vacation gathering of 34 family members for my sisters 80th birthday party. Northern Lights suggested two 8 inch round cakes and we agreed on one all vanilla one all chocolate. The icing on both was very light, creamy and delicious. I think the vanilla was more popular, as the chocolate was on the lighter side, not fudgy. The service was remarkable and we thank you for ease of communication and responsiveness!!

Very nice place with amazing staff. We got a dozen donuts of various flavors. I tasted a couple different types and they all tasted great from the maple glazed to the strawberry & sprinkles. We had also gotten duck donuts and I honestly prefer these ones even though they are not warm like duck donuts. These donuts are More dense and larger. What makes this place even greater is that we went back the next day to try some more stuff. I got a spinach croissant which was delicious. We also where given a bag of donuts! At first I thought they might have given them because they where old and not good enough to sell, but they tasted great! Would highly recommended trying this bakery!

If your on vacation in OBX, and your looking for a cute place for quick breakfast sandwiches, danishes and doughnuts, Northern Lights Bakery is your place. Really nice family owned and operated coffee shop in the Corolla section of OBX. Me and my friends just snagged a few breakfast croissant sandwiches, a few danishes and a couple of coffees. You have an option to have them heat it up for you, or you can take it to go. Service is quick and efficient, they get you in and out. Definitely will return on my next family vacation

This is a beautiful bakery with a huge selection of pastries! The doughnuts were dense, in a good way, and the so rich and just yummy! The peach turnover - amazing! The cinnamon roll could feed a family of three! They sell whole pies, as well as, some bread.

7am opening time and there is a line.

If you're looking for a quick breakfast option, Northern Lights Bakery is a decent place to stop. The donuts are pretty good, and I really enjoyed the Vietnamese coffee. It was strong and hit the spot on a hot morning. The only downside is that there was a massive line when I went. Be prepared to wait even if you go early.

Always a favorite when we come to obx. We always plan on spending two mornings at this non chain bakery. Such a wide variety of menu items for breakfast or dessert. I had three Vietnamese coffees this week!! Bacon egg croissant is classic. Even just a plain cake donut is perfection, crunchy outside with soft inside. Spinach croissants warmed. Putt putt next door is also a good addition to burn off some sugar.

Obviously down here for vacation but man between the customer service and smells of fresh doughnuts or breakfast Sammy's or even the fresh shot of espresso being poured into my coffee.....,, this place is a must stop they offer cakes, tons of pastry's even macaroons and not to mention the gigantic cinnamon rolls. The place has sll you can ask for to represent a small town bakery. It's a must stop i recommend the cold brew and the doughnuts with an additional cinnamon roll or sticky bun.

Simply fantastic - earned every one of the five stars. Friendly staff, incredible artisan quality baked goods, efficient customer line management and expediting... in the entrance way and out the back door. This place knows what they are doing. Kind of a bummer they are closed Sundays, as quite honesty, I would have just gone back again tomorrow before we leave for the week. We got an assorted dozen donuts, some muffins and croissant and biscuit breakfast sandwiches. I don't know if there is much else to say. Plan on hitting this place if you find yourself in northern OBX near Corolla.

Continued 5 STAR LOVE AND ADMIRATION for Kind Cup coffee shop and its very cool, eclectic…read morecollection of handmade jewelry, home decor, art pieces and clothing housed inside (you would never guess all that's inside the shop unless you ventured in!). Kind Cup, first and foremost, is an indie coffee spot that has amazing (strong, not wimpy weak) coffee and latte drinks, a (usually well stocked) display case of baked goods (get there early in the busy season else the pickin's will be slim!). This time, I had the butter cake and it was delicious and complimented my flavored latte brilliantly. Staff is always friendly and amazing! Don't be in a huge rush when you go there and be sure to head out back - there's a beautifully manicured and cared for garden area with some seating and tables sprinkled around the grounds to sit, sip and take it all in - giving faraway feel vibes. I posted a bunch of new pics and vids this visit (including of the garden area) so check them out and see what the inside is like as well as a cool vid of the pretty garden area. I would recommend coming here (when it's not too hot lol) to stroll around the entire Historic Corolla Village. You can truly spend a day here - at least a few hours / half day - just park your car ANYWHERE - plenty of parking in the historic village and just start strolling. Everything is walkable and it's so easy to explore the area. Hit the tiny Corolla Village BBQ shack for great pork bbq sandwiches $10 (top off your sando with their coleslaw yum!), check out the famous Corolla lighthouse and stop in to the lighthouse gift shop, visit the maritime museum, stroll by the beautiful yellow painted Whalehead Club mansion, browse the Island Bookstore, visit the Wildlife Education Center / Museum or just be lazy and bring a chair and a book and camp out on a grassy spot overlooking the sound. The Kind Cup though should be your first stop to grab a latte and a pastry! Can't get much better than that! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Perfectly baked. Coffee was on par too. Great stop. Cute art offerings and souvenirs too. *sorry no muffin pic, I inhaled it like a seagull with a french fry. *I believe this is a special recipe from one of the locals. Chefs kiss!
