These guys absolutely ripped my Dad off. I am a car guy with my own spec3 certified track car and run with local groups in the Bay Area. Unfortunately I was in college up north and was unable to do his brakes for him at the time back in 2022, so he came to this shop. They are already bad, and he works from home and hardly drives the car. They misquoted eBay brakes and charged a sweet old man over $500 for what, 3 bolts a side and some retainer clips? Do NOT come here if you don't have knowledge of cars and protect your family and friends. They lied about the cost of the pads by a 250% price hike which is illegal. I will 100% be seeking some recourse with the BBB, and an attorney. I have the time and money and I'm big on honesty and integrity, something this shop lacks in spades. To top it off, they argued this is a typical charge in the Modesto area. Brakes are the easiest thing on any car, and they're largely the same unless you're adapting different brakes. Unacceptable and highly lacking in integrity, that's what you'll find at Northern Wheel and Tire. They didn't even know what Worldpac is, which is a horrible sign for anyone touching your car. Edit: I was not at all irate, I was polite and this guy starts interrupting me, telling me I'm incompetent (I did my own cams and timed them, Porsche 996 brakes on my non Porsche track car with adapters, clutch and flywheel, diff replacement and much, much more) and raised his voice first, which made me question the purpose of the call. I thought they'd be reasonable but they just gave me a reason to add to this review. I did tell him to stop interrupting me, and reminded him that respect comes from showing empathy, integrity and competency, which he showed zero of. At least the first front desk guy had people skills, this guy however was a class act. read more

Was in Modesto for a meeting and had a low pressure sensor off, looked on Yelp for the nearest tire center and two came up. Rather than go to a mainstream shop I tried this "mom and pop" one down the street... it was a great decision. Talked to the husband and wife - and their son also works there! After my Dog, this truck is my most valued possession so I took her here to get a set a simple install of rear shocks. Bilsteins of course hey I'm half German no judging. This shop is effing huge, fully air conditioned with a really comfortable waiting room/couches/TV..stocked with a ton of cool kit and stuff to look at. Everyone I interacted with was professional, treat you well and clearly know their shit. I was impressed with the family atmosphere, my service dog and I fell asleep in the waiting room. Twice, actually which means it's comfortable and quiet. The price was pretty spot-on for the job. Actually the price was better than the quote than I got for the same job on McHenry ave. When you factor in the customer service and amazing shop they have, it's a no-brainer. Performance? I can't tell you how much the ride of my old-ass rig has improved in words, but since this is Yelp...my truck rides and feels now as though the rear is being clenched in the buttocks of a majestically soft angel... ...that can squat 600lbs. The ride is firm yet forgiving, and the rear feels planted to the ground. I'm not really much of a car/truck guy I but I appreciate (older) shit that just works, and the improvement in the handling, comfort and overall ride was marketed and noticeable instantly. Customer service. I believe I interacted with the owner Mark the most, who offered some great advice and insight on my suspension without trying to sell me anything up or upcharge my simple install, and the young man behind the counter (forgot his name sry bro) was hella chill, answered all my questions, had my shocks delivered in 2 days and called me when they came in. Kept calling me Sir but I'm old now so cool with me. I must have driven by this huge Red building 1000 times because my Motorcycle shit is right here....KTM and BMW dealers and a Cycle Gear right across the street. I never noticed they are a suspension shop, I always thought they were wheels/tires only. (also not a fan of the color red something angry colors no bueno something) Pros: pretty much the entire review c'mon this shit is epic. Also, no USA flag crap all over the place/being shoved down my throat. Cons: I wish they had hand sanitizer available and a box of masks for customers to use, but that's me I actually give a shit about your health something something 14yrs Cardiac ICU experience something. (for the love of God get vaccinated please as soon as I saw this was global and viral I knew it was real and it was bad) Honestly these guys have a SICK shop you must visit them!!!! Mark and team installed my lift kit this week as planned. He showed me that my rotors and pads were shot, which I had suspected the need to be replaced already, although I had a $100 groupon on the "shelf" with another shop in Sac, I ended up just having Mark replace them since I was there and it would save me the trip. The lift kit was executed well, and was what I expected. The price is fair, not the best, but very fair. Time will tell how everything holds up the next 3-4 months. As for the owner, Mark, he was definitely friendly, and I didn't experience any of the same negative reactions that others have reported. He offered to give me a lift to breakfast down the street and pick me up when I was done, although I walked back since it wasn't very far. Not sure how Mark deals with conflict if I have a problem with the work down the line, but up until now, he has been nothing but friendly, professional, fair, and courteous. So I can only report on what experience I've had up until now. read more

They disposed of my stock wheels and tires (So they say, I truly believe they sold them) and didn't take any responsibility for it. I will never use them again nor will I ever recommend them. Crooks. They should be blessed for all the 16 to 18 year old high school kids around who don't know any better. I was promised by Mark to get a chip for my truck (a few years ago) at a great price. I was looking around and it really was the best price he quoted me. Mark said he needed to order it so I waited.....and waited......and waited. I called time and time again and eventually gave up knowing it wasn't coming in. The process took around 3 months....no joke. I still have no product from them. I'm surprised these guys are still in business. Mark, the owner will literally lie to you. if he promises you anything whether it be a quote, price, or part get it in writing. GET YOUR TIRE(S) ON! Good overall experience. Let's review! PRICE: Called in on the phone for pricing for mounting four new tires on a Civic. $20 per tire, which is reasonable. Also had alignment done for another $80. A bit cheaper than chain stores, who routinely try to scam you on tires. WAIT: Took about 45 minutes. Not too bad. They have a very big waiting room with a tv and tons of magazines. The store is huge and the wait room is at the very back so you will not be bothered by salesmen or noises. ENVIRONMENT: As mentioned above, the store is huge. It gives you plenty of space to walk around and not feel claustrophobic like in smaller tire stores. I gave the attendant my keys(I think that he was the owner as well) and went outside to grab a bite from the sandwich store next door. Came back chatted a bit with the owner, his wife and his kids. Very friendly culture. They actually enjoyed conversation and did not try to sell me anything extra. If you have been to Big-O in the past 100 years, you will remember them saying that your perfectly fine car needs new suspension, bearings, seats, motor mounts, you name it. OVERALL: If you are in need of new tires or installation then this is the place to go. I like supporting family businesses, and when they are cheaper then it is all the better! The owner was talking about tire pricing with me for awhile-I had purchased mine from Tirerack.com and brought them in to be installed. He told me that he could match Tirerack prices (at least for my Honda), so be sure to ask about it when you go check them out! Very good place. I will be back soon for a balance. read more

This place is amazing. They work fast, and do a great job. After speaking with Mark over the phone, he gave me a quote and gave me a appt the following day. Since we were coming afar, we requested for them to do a same day service while we waited. The longest part of it all was me choosing what I wanted, after selecting we went out to eat, and got a phone call within a couple hours. They all worked on my truck installed a 6 inch lift with rims and tires, saved all my extra pieces and sent me on my way. Truck is beautiful, and we love the lift. I work at Balswick's in Turlock. After being told by our alignment guy that my car was "too low" to be aligned at my workplace, I took it back to Northern Tire & Wheel who had aligned it before. They let me drop the car off at 8AM and then pick it up the following morning since I couldn't make it back the same day due to work. They aligned it to my specs with no issues whatsoever and the car drives great now. Definitely recommend this shop over others who refuse to align lowered vehicles because it takes a little extra effort. read more

I was just had my truck lowered and new Rims put on. This is my 2nd car to be done by the Guys at Northern Tire and wheels. Yes I took a used tuck into them and they found other things wrong. Does not what there doing can't even balance tires or do a simple alignment and completely screwed up my Suspinsion on my truck. Told me an extra lift couldn't be done and when I showed up they tore my front end apart and busted all the ball joints and tie rods and then blamed it on me wanting it and started screaming and blaming my lift which is crap cuz my current lift has been on the truck for 4 years with zero issues and he couldn't even take responsibility for his screw up. Thank god for TCS Suspinsion and Marcio who put it all back together and fixed it and was able to align the front end and balance the tire. I would stay far away from northern tire and wheel. I've heard nothing but similar stories since my issues with them. Wish I would have heard them first. read more

Northern tire and wheel have neither of these qualities. The owner Marky is a joke. I spoke with him about tires that I needed for my car. I think he was too busy noticing that I was a woman with breasts then seeing me as a consumer in need of a product. I called these guys for a used tire. I was told $25 on the phone. When I got there and paid. It was $40, Then I took my car in for a front end alignment. They could not do it because of a bad joint and charged me $30. I replaced the bad joint and called to have a alignment done, I was told ya bring it down we can do it. I was never told I had to drop it for the day. I could have made other plans. When I got there, the alignment tech was leaving for lunch and I was told to wait 1.5 hours. Not Cool! So I just went to Los Amigos tire and they took care of it asap. I only waited 36min. The guys at Northern tire are cool and the place is clean with OK parking. But if you price out things on the phone. Stick with that price and if your backed up. Tell your customers to drop off there cars. Not surprise them. Sorry guys I had to go to another shop to get good service at the price quoted on the phone. read more

I took my truck there about a year ago (7/26/17) because it's close to work and I needed a wheel alignment and new tire sensor. I thought it was a bit over priced but what isn't on lifted trucks with 20" wheels, my issue is that 1 year and 12 days later I got a flat and needed new tires, went to Les Schwab to get new ones, there they told me that one of my sensors was busted off in tire and was floating around, not on the tire that I got a flat on either, I've driven the truck about 6k in that year, so I called and asked if it was under warranty, I understand that's it's been a year and all that, but what I was told shocked the f*** out of me, I was told that if it was working like that, then it'd be fine just put it back in there. Really, you should have seen the look on the guys face at Les Schwab when I told him that, I didn't expect to get it fixed for free ,I understand it's not their fault that the sensor was defective or what not, but to say " it was working fine like that" is a bunch of bullsh*t from a tire shop. I will never go there again I'm gonna make sure I tell all my friends not to go back. read more

Had a great experience here. I called to get a quote on a lift and wheels and tires package over the phone and Mark was nice. I stopped by the shop to check it out and felt pretty comfortable leaving my truck there. While the truck was being worked on they gave me a ride to a breakfast cafe down the street to kill time. The truck came out awesome but the sensor on one of my wheels didn't work when I left. Mark stated when I came back to have my truck re torqued he would replace it for 35dls. First of all it took someone 20mins to even come to the counter to even ask how they could help us, then 5mins or so into it another customer comes in and he excuses himself to talk or finish a prior transaction with that customer and that took another 10mins or so. Then when he finally came back to finish helping us, with our questions and estimate, he flat out lied to us about the type of lip we wanted on our rim. He said that the only way we would be able to have that type of lip on our rim was only if we went with a bigger rim & tire. I completely understand that many places just want to sell the inventory that they have before they make any additional orders, but to flat out lie and say that there is no way possible to get what we wanted without going with a bigger rim and tire, really pisses me off. Just be honest!!! Needless to say we went to a different shop where they gave us exactly what we wanted at a much better price! The only positive thing I have to say about this shop was that even though he lied he was nice. ****In response to the comment**** It's not that the guy helping us said it wouldn't fit or that it wouldn't be a good idea. He flat out said to us that it does not come in that size we wanted. And when we contacted the vendor they assured us that it did come in the size we wanted. If the guy helping us would have said it wouldn't be a good fit, then that is understandable, but he didn't. We know that this business has been around for a while which is why we went in, but the fact that we were lied to and then we were being helped and then another person came in and the guy helping us left us to go help him, I thought was quite rude being that we only had a few questions and at most would have taken maybe 5mins. read more

Mark was extremely professional and courteous; his knowledge and experience was evident during our conversation. WOW. I just got back from this place and had a great experience. Reading these reviews makes me wonder how true or blown out of context some people get. I dealt with Mark on some new bridgestone tires for my Volvo. He did exactly what he said he would. I was even given a free alignment check. He was not only the lowest price but proably the nicest guy at any tire store I've ever been too. I will recommend this place to all my friends and defenitly continue to take all my vechiles there.
