I saw a listing for a lawnmower on the Northern Tool website, albeit on backorder. When I checked the Northern Tool Marietta location, I noticed one in stock. After calling to confirm, I was told there was one box left, so I headed over immediately. When I arrived and asked for the lawnmower, they showed me an assembled version with a 3-year warranty for an extra $50. I requested the lawnmower at the online price without the assembly/warranty add-on, but my request was denied. Stuff I didn't even know existed do exist at NTEC. They have stuff like pressure washers that cost as much as a down payment on a small condo and if you want a dollie...they have about 12 in all different sizes and shapes. I came in looking for a big push broom for a client of mine....don't ask. I went to Homie D. (Home Depot) Lowe's, Wally Walmart, and Ace. No one seem to have a decent push broom that didn't cost $80. So I came here out of suggestion by the nice folks at Graingers....a shout out to those guys there... Now most place have just one kind of push broom but not NTEC. I think I counted at lest 4. I didn't know there was such a big market for them.... Well I ended with one for less than $20 and according to the packaging it was made in the USA. Do not take any tools for repair! After the last big snowfall in Dec 2017 my husband took his chainsaw in for repairs. It needed a new fuel bulb from what he could tell. Each time he called it still had not been fixed then called a 4th time and said it now needed a carburetor called 5th time & needed another part. Called 6th time and was suddenly ready & fixed. All this after a month and 3 weeks! Today he used it for a couple small trees and it practically blew up! This was a practically new saw-only used a couple of times for light work. **when you call to check they don't seem to have a clue. A wasted effort all the way around! Lesson learned. read more

We ordered a Honda Generator and followed all instructions. It would not start and we returned it to Northern and we were charged 40 dollars to get it started. We were told it had debris which is how we received it upon delivery. At one point Northern told us to get an RA. You are told by Northern you can't get a return authorization if you have put oil and gas in the generator. It is considered used. It wasn't used because it would not start. After paying $1300 for a generator that had debris in it Northern charged us another 40 to clean it. At this point I would say BUYER BEWARE. Northern does not stand behind their equipment. From the day I made my first purchase , this store has been the bane of my existence. Almost taking advice from someone in the store almost cost me permanent damage to my water pump. Everyone is very disorganized in that store. They never have ANYTHING. Always out of stock, and short staffed. No mechanic on sight. Just very inconvenient. Stopped in this am to purchase a pressure washer only to find that it was out of stock. Website said that it was in stock. The clerk told me that I could buy the display model and would have to pay $199 for the assembly charge, but that they would "throw " in an extended warranty. Told them that I'm buying the machine without any additional charges. He told me that I had to purchase pump oil (which the machine already has). He had to get manager approval to do that. Manager hooked me up with the sale price and proceeded to gather the accessories that were to come with it. She proceeded to grab the cheapest hose on the shelf to send with me, but it didn't match the psi. That was last straw, so I walked out and proceeded to order the machine online, New in box, with all of the parts included. We'll rate that experience when the machine comes in. read more

I dropped off my tiller for a tune-up and returned to find a new carburetor installed. I grudgingly paid for this( a lot, I might add). Service guy was nice, but everyone at the front of store was quite rude and unhelpful. Won't be going back! read more

I like it here. You can find just about anything for the same price as you'd pay at Home Depot. Be careful of the items made in other countries - some of them can be pieces of crap. But they have a return policy so all is good. The staff is great and very helpful. read more

This business has no return policy and won't work with you in anyway to fix their issues. We bought a pressure washer and it broke during the first use. Clearly, from the product being so easily broken, we didn't want it anymore. They said you're pretty much sh** out of luck. Wouldn't recommend buying any big purchase from this company because it will break and you will have wasted your money. read more

We purchased 2 tires for our trailer and 1 got a buldge in it. Called them to see us they would stand by their products and exchange out the tire because it was obviously faulty since the other one isn't like that. They said it was out past their 30 days and i would have to purchase another at full price. We will be taking our business elsewhere from now on. I get return policies -- but this is obviously a faulty product. Yes the tire is dirty...but it shouldn't have a buldge like that :( read more

I called a hour before arriving to make sure they had the saw in stock. I arrived when i walked in i asked where i needed to go in order to buy the saw i was directed to the back and told i would have someone help me. 25 minutes later i walked back up front an asked again how i needed to go about buying a 300 dollar bandsaw. At this point they called over the intercom I walked back to the back of the store where someone greeted me with a terrible attitude Asked me what i wanted. Then said it's in the back and walked off. 15 minutes later he returns and says the computer was wrong we don't have any of those other than the floor model. Which looked to be on the floor for years. Filthy and the power cord was nearly broke He then offered me 10$ off Hahahaha what a joke and terrible way to run a store i will never return. I was on a hunt for a kerosene heater and called ahead for one. It was the last one available. I'm very big on being greeted when I enter a store. My money is important to me and i carefully choose where I spend it. Every employee I walked past said hi and asked me if i was finding everything ok. Customer service I believe goes a long way , I went into this store and this lady Shelby rang my order up and gave me my receipt and was expecting me to just pick up my tools and she didn't even bother placing my stuff in the shopping bag and was waiting for me to pick up my tools I had just paid for . The folks at the Marietta store of Northern Tool are very helpful. Super helpful. The store is clean and the merchandise very interesting. I have "rung the bell" more than a few times in there. However, regarding online purchases...beware! You cannot return these items to the store, even if you had them shipped there. I have had a nightmare returning an item where Northern obviously shipped me an open box item that had been returned by a previous customer. The box was taped up, lacked some crucial parts and also the owners manual. I'm looking at a month turnaround in getting the correct item, and it was not my fault! Northerntool.com might as well be on a different planet than the retail stores. They need to change their policies to compete. Update: I tweeted my dissatisfaction to Northern after a week passed with no indication of the replacement being shipped. They contacted me a couple of days later and cleared up the issue and apologized. I had a replacement item within a week of expressing my concern and they gave me a gift card for my trouble. I think they mean well and they acknowledge that they are working on their process. I added one star for this. read more

My wife decided to buy me a tool chest online from Northern Tool for Christmas. She bought a top and mid chest. 3 days after her online purchase confirmation the order for the mid chest was cancelled because it is no longer made. Meanwhile they still had a hold on our funds for $117 (with a 113.86 invoice). So since it was not a complete order because they sold her something that's not made anymore she told them she doesn't want the top box. Well we got billed for that...they shipped it to our house anyhow and she was told 3 different ways on how to send it back and get our account credited. I stepped in at this point for further clarification. With as bad as things were up to this point I was reluctant to send it back affraid we wouldn't get our money back because of the poor service so far. Against my better judgement we sent it back per thier instruction and a week later my wife got an email saying they received the item and we should get our refund soon. Things were finally looking up! Well I looked at our bank account today and guess what...not a full refund! No way! It cost us 180 for that tool box, they sent it to our house after her and I told them we don't want it and they should cancel shipment. They then only credited us back 127. My wife has been is tears dealing with this company. This company has basically had control of 350 of our funds over the last 3 weeks. In my opinion they are nothing but leagelized thievery. This was the first time my wife and I have order from Northern Screw. I have purchased many large and heavy items in my life from other companies. Sometimes for various reasons the orders get messed and the other companies have to have it sent back, but I have never ever delt with such vague incompetence from any other company (I actually asked the lady on the phone "this is how Northern Tool handles returns?" out of frustration and disbelief). No one there feels compelled to empathize and take ownership of an honest mistake. The only way I would ever purchase from Northern Tool and Equipment again is if I was held at gunpoint! read more
