I'm here almost every day and the employees always say hello and are very friendly, it is great for produce and Mexican items and very reasonably priced. Best of all us really the service at checkout, if there is lines they open extra lanes and I feel spoiled that they bag your groceries. I went to fly grocery store one time and was waiting for then to bag my things out of habit. I admitted that I was a regular at northgate and forgot as they always do it. Here are some tips if you want to know about when you buy the bread make sure you go early it is good and fresh also make sure the bag is open so they don't become too soft and squishy if you want your bread to be crackly and good like ratatouille let out the steam for a while and then cover it the bread will last a little longer if your bread ever becomes hard there's two things you can do you can put a paper towel with a little bit a water and put in less than three minutes in the microwave or you can use that to make breadcrumbs and put seasoning some just ideas The customer service is really nice to there's some people who can speak English and Spanish Hope this helps you read more

So happy to see their freshly prepared guacamole has a Not Spicy option! I came here to get ceviche and was pleasantly surprised to see their fresh selection while other markets like Superior get it frozen to place in their display Northgate's variety was pretty nice and one comment I have is each entree has its own serving spoon so there's never the fear of cross contamination of flavors. One time I got fish ceviche at Superior and apparently the server used the spoon from the shrimp ceviche and my guest found the shrimp in it and he's allergic! So kudos Northgate! I used to love love Northgate market, until they got stupid and added those metal bars all over the store to prevent people from leaving the store freely. You literally have to exit thru the cashiers sides; no other way. They blocked one of their entrances with their flowers.. It looks super uninvited. No other super markets are like this. I don't know how the inspectors allow for this to happened!?? Is it even safe?? I guess the owners think the whole El Monte Community steal a lot so now we have to put up with their BS. I've been coming to the store for many years and I love the staff but on the August 19 I went there and for the first time the cashier was terrible she had a really bad attitude. She didn't even move to help me to bag the groceries. And she told me I win a bag pack and I ask her if I can see which one they have and she answer in a very bad mood. You guys shouldn't have this kind of people with very bad customer service. I work for a bank for 24 years and I was have a smile for my customers. The cashier's name is Mildred. I went to This Location on Wednesday about 10:30 in the morning, Hoping I get there in the middle of the week. Not to early but not to late. Usually this is the day the store stocks up on pruducts. Normally the store been pretty good with Covid-19 safety measures. But I noticed that no one counting the number of people that are allowed in the store. There was more people in the store than should be normaly allowed. People huddling close together and no social distancecing being followed. I know stores are doing their best during this times. But I feel management is letting their gaurd down. And good luck if your looking to but hand soads or disenfectants, they have not had those in weeks. The store has no limit to customer purchases. I don't live in the area but usually come to this area about once a week to visit my parents. First of all, although the parking area is a nice size- finding an open spot is usually not easy. Shopping carts all scattered all over the place. The produce area was okay but it was slightly chaotic... Bad enough there's the massive amounts of people but they had shopping carts and stocking carts all over the area making it difficult to get around. I understand the need to restock throughout the day but the carts I saw seemed to have just been left there. Secondly- I was looking for something quick to eat so went to their Hot Food section. Yes, that too was crowded but they didn't have a system in place to help determine who was next. A couple ladies got into an argument as to who was first. This could have been avoided if their number ticket system was working or at least had an employee helping out. Instead, I skipped the hot food and grabbed a Shrimp Cocktail that was Ready to go. Wow- what a mistake- it was horrible. It had a couple pieces of avocado on top, about 5 nice size shrimp laying on top but the rest of the cup was packed with tomato and onion. This supermarket always have high quality fresh apples, their produce (fruit wise) is one of the better ones I've seen when compared to other asian supermarkets. The prices are somewhat okay, sometimes they over price a lot but most of the times it's just about average. They got a good selection of everything youd expect to find at a supermarket. The problem is in the back with the meat, poultry, and seafood section stinks horribly. I would never buy meat from this location because just going back there makes me want to throw up. read more

I shop at this market frequently (at a different location) and recommended it to my roommate who is not Mexican and doesn't speak Spanish. She found this market close to her grandma's place and decided to go in and get food. While trying to get a number for the meat counter, the woman directing the shoppers had a major attitude problem towards her because she didn't speak Spanish and started yelling at her. The woman got in her face and made a huge scene. My roommate is the sweetest person who is trying to learn Spanish because she loves the culture but didn't understand this horrible woman's ranting. The woman treated my roommate like a child and then after ridiculing my friend she spoke to her in clear as day English to go to a certain spot. I am beyond outraged at the woman's behavior. There is no need for yelling at someone or being so unprofessional. As a loyal customer, I never expected this kind of treatment at this market. What a shame. read more

This market is great for produce as well as ordering meals to go. They have a wide variety of Mexican breads and salsas that I adore as well. The prices could be better, but overall the market is good when we're in need of a quick food fix or produce. read more

We come here whenever we need something quick from their deli. Rice, beans, carnitas, etc in a pinch this place does the trick. I really want to rate this place higher, but so much of their food is over-salted that I just cannot. Lots of potential if they just trim down the salt, and maybe try other spices. Enjoy! read more

Yeah I only go here cause I have to drive my mom here and my wife might need some cheap produce. The market itself is a little over priced and does not carry alot of different items and brands...BUT The prodice is great and awesomely priced The meat is pretty good the best from markets around here... Like coming here they have everything I would need for a carne Asada with the family great meat, beer, and bottles lol. Also their wheat bolillo is the best ever! Could get pretty packed in the afternoons so be ready for those lines. Other than that just another great market. read more

Ok the parking and crowds can be horrendous, especially during the holidays. But there's a good reason, this market has some very delicious authentic latin foods, produce and ready to go meals. The staff are great and my kids can't get enough of their desserts/pan dulces. Run of the mill foods such as cereals and so on will be pricey. You are better off going elsewhere for these. However, if you are looking for fresh produce and authentic mexican/latin foods this is a great place to shop. read more

The only reason why I go here is because it's the closest real Mexican supermarket near me. This place is not clean, their produce such as vegetables and fruits are not fresh. I have bought ceviche and it was spoiled my cousin told me she had bought some the week before and also tasted like of it had been out for days. My friend bought a cake and was also spoiled the Arroz con Leche spoiled as well. The pan dulce we bought had a dead fly on it and the other time we bought bread it was hard.
