Good location and super lively store. Walking in, this location looks very vibrant and lots of groceries to shop for. I happen to be in the area and was looking for a quick bite to take with me after a workout. I of course went to their refrigerated section, checked out their selection, and saw their, "Money Saving" meals (which are $4.99 for different salads) and found a delicious chicken, arugula, tomatoes, and couscous salad. My second time at Trader Joe's in Monrovia and I've decided that it is my least favorite location. Finding a parking was a huge nightmare, the customers here all pretty much appeared to be in a hurry, the staff were complaining about being tired and from working a busy shift - the vibe was not very TJ like (compared to Pasadena, San Dimas, and Brea). Monrovia California is the headquarters for Trader Joe's. I will never forget when they opened their first store in NYC. I certainly didn't understand the hype. This is the TJs I go to every week! I love shopping at TJs because they always have new items and it's always fun to try new things! I love that they have everything you need at a grocery store but are able to keep it small in size where it's not overwhelming to shop for a particular item. It's pretty magical that they can have such a variety for the size of their markets compared to other markets. Some of my favorite all time items from them are the following: 1. frozen cod rice with ratatouille and rice. (Product from France) 2. Spaghetti with meat sauce (product from Canada) 3. New item recently -BBQ pork fried rice. 4. frozen bugolgi 5. frozen Korean beef ribs. 6. their variety of nuts like shelled Pistachios and Roasted Cashews. 7. also their Dubai Chocolate are one of the best I've had! 8. organic chicken bone broth (super healthy and convenient) 9. honey flavored Greek yogurt. 10. ketchup chips!! 11. truffle chips 12. This Trader Joes has really great parking (unlike Silverlake and South Pas) and the staff is always so friendly, but it can get so busy during peak hours that it is hard to navigate through the store and the shelves are bare. My tip is to come early in the morning....or go to the Trader Joes a few miles away in Pasadena. read more

Went Monday to pick up a few things $110.00yesterday I used my cherries tomatoes & cucumbers to make a salad the cherry tomatoes we rotten went to cut my cucumber it was slimy.. frustrated now I went to go eat my grapes they were also rotten with the gas expensive. This is my preferred location when shopping. Staff is usually helpful, shelves are always stocked. I find many great items. Checkout is relatively fast, and parking is a breeze. I love that this store is always clean, staff is always moving and arranging items for customers. Many plants and flower arrangements available by the store entrance. Very disappointing experience at this Trader Joe's on February 18, 2026 around 7:00 PM. I was purchasing 12 cups of yogurt, and at checkout a female cashier wearing glasses told me there was a limit of 5 per customer. However, there was no sign posted on the shelf about any limit. When I politely asked why the limit was not clearly displayed, her attitude was rude and dismissive. I understand store policies, but enforcing an unpublished rule at checkout and speaking to customers unprofessionally is unacceptable. I hope management reviews staff training and improves communication. read more

This is my local Trader Joe's, and I'm never disappointed when I come. The staff are always SO friendly :') whenever I need something, I'm never scared to ask a staff to help out. They always give such great suggestions too :) Their produce is always so fresh & they're usually pretty stocked in the mornings. PSA if you want a high demand item go to TJs in the morning. It's too bad TJ Monrovia does not put as much effort into restocking product as they do selling the ridiculous fad bags! I'm walking distance of this store but have to drive to another TJ to get what I need. 3 out of 5 things I need they say they didn't get delivery, discontinued, out of stock. Always an excuse blaming their suppliers. However, other TJ's in the area will have what I need. Sounds like a management problem. read more

I had a very upsetting experience at this Trader Joe's today. I was waiting in line at one of the registers for about two minutes, clearly standing there ready to check out. Suddenly, a woman came out of nowhere, cut right in front of me from the side, and completely ignored my presence. I tapped her shoulder and told her I had been in line, and instead of apologizing, she rudely asked, "Which line were you in?" as if gaslighting me into thinking I wasn't even there. To make things worse, the male cashier at the register turned around and invited her to check out at his counter, ignoring everything that just happened. I immediately stepped up and said, "I was here first." The cashier looked confused and tried to play it off by saying, "I'll try to check you both check out at the same time." I told him I came first, then he gave me a half-hearted "sorry" with zero sincerity or acknowledgment of what had just happened. This kind of behavior from both a customer and a Trader Joe's employee is completely unacceptable. Is it so hard to respect basic queueing order? Is Trader Joe's okay with enabling rude people to jump the line while ignoring customers who actually follow the rule? I've always liked Trader Joe's, but this kind of treatment was incredibly disappointing. I hope store management takes this seriously, because no one deserves to be treated like they're invisible. When I let him know that I had been waiting before them, he told me he was just calling people at random that his line, really wasn't a line! This is one of my go to locations! It can be busy at times. But parking is plentiful and I've yet to have a bad experience at this location. Even during peak times, I don't have any issues with a timely checkout process. They always seem to be in stock of anything I want to purchase. The staff is friendly and welcoming. About 50% of the time I'm there to purchase fresh flowers. And when I shop there in the evening, they still have plenty fresh flowers to choose from. read more

Avoid being a customer in this location. Terrible service. The old lady with short hair at the cashier tried to help this business by limiting customers from buying products in the store. If you have a sign limit purchase on the shelf , I'll follow it, but there is not. She rejects selling the product and gives me a bad attitude. I don't understand what I did wrong. Mostly, the Trader Joe's that I have been to make me feel welcome and have good service, but it does not at this location. A lot has change since my last review here. My reason for coming back, is their snacks - the rice cracker medleys, the teriyaki turkey jerky and other goodies. It gets pretty busy here and parking can be challenging. The prices are decent. The employees are a mixed bag, you never know what you're gonna get. Some of them appear to be a big rush to get you out and others want to talk to your ear off. The store is clean and well organized. I recently found our they sell more than food - they also have sunscreen, shampoo and soaps. This plaza does have free EV charging at the Kohl's end of the plaza. But there's usually a line of cheap folks waiting. They can afford high end EV's but don't want to pay for charging, go figure. This Trader Joe's is nice and near the Super Market I goto, so its not out of my way. read more

Well stocked store but rude employees! Went in because I was in this neighborhood not my usual TJs and it happened to be Easter canvas bag morning. Didn't even notice it as I came in a far door. Saw the bags and went to pick one up and a rude girl raised her voice and asked if I had a raffle ticket. Not knowing anything about this I said no and she points towards the store and says then shopping is that way. She then stared me down as I passed the area again while shopping. Have been here many times and the employees have Always! been very respectful and helpful even when they might be very busy. I always appreciate them. But came in today and looked like they were doing inventory on everything or just refilling. As I was looking through the fruit section there was a young girl (Olivia) and she was standing next to me probably restocking. I stepped away and my husband asked me that he saw that young lady looking down on me and making rude faces and comments to her co worker. I told him I didn't hear anything since I was not really paying attention to my surroundings. I'm deeply upset that they would do this since I'm a very loyal customer at Trader Joe's. I did speak to a cashier and asked for the name of the very rude employee and called the store to let them know of her behavior and was told they would speak to her. I love how this location always has the most popular items in stock like ube pretzels or ube pancake mixes. The whole grocery is organized well and all of the checkout counters are manned. It's efficiently managed and it's easy to get in and out. read more

Since I brought my food and drink for my work's lunch hour earlier today, I had enough time to grocery shop today for work's break room which needed some more coffee items. Due to visiting the 'Hart House,' Monrovia this week for my Carrot Top Check-In Badge, I wanted to come supporting this Trader Joe as well. I recalled that I have been here last year when I was already working in Arcadia before this second time. Anyways, I spotted cute wall decors throughout this supermarket~they were so cute I had to take some pics as shown below. I also stumbled upon some awesome ground coffee item sales for my work's break room. I (decided) trying Trader Joe's Arabica coffee which was on sale for $4.99 a bag of ground coffee. What a deal!!!! I should have bought 2 bags. So I donated that bag of coffee to work on top of two other snack items: 'Inner Peas' and a box of Scottish cookies. I was in and outta here in exactly as short as thirty minutes. What an efficient cashier since she was super fast! I'll be back again for sure! read more

Best Trader Joe's location and staff, hands down!! Maybe because it is the flagship store?? Doesn't matter, because compared to some other locations (east) nearby, HUGE difference. EVERYONE at this location is SO KIND, PATIENT, FRIENDLY and actually CARE about people. Not just because they're customers, because they CARE about PEOPLE. They know their customers and families by names. I can even name the staff at this store, and who they are, why they are kind- but only because they were kind to me first and others I have witness over the years. Where I am shopping now, it is night and day. The staff is always talking amongst each other and ignoring customers, especially when they need help or look lost. They get upset when they have to look in the back for an out of stock product. So is so strange to me it is the same company. Maybe because they're mostly college students working at this store? Whatever the management at the Monrovia location, they need to spread it to the nearby locations. I have been spoiled by this location, and after moving to another city down the road after 10 years, I still find myself go back to Monrovia TJ's just because everything there just feels good. The store is always very clean, and very stocked, very friendly and helpful (HUGE difference- try it out for yourselves). For some reason the quality of the produce is also always better. I do not normally get rotten organics when I bring them home, unlike a nearby location. PLEASE spread your management and staff to the nearby stores. Promote them or something. I taste tested these 2 freezer item's: 'Pork Shu Mai"pork dumpelings. And the: Chicken Tikka Samosas.. The pork dumplings were tasty we did them in the air fryer,((directions are on the side of the box)) I liked them,for coming from TJ freezer section,not bad,to eat with a side of rice and mixed vegetables, not a bad meal for 2. 10 come in the pack,you need to make a soy sauce,garlic chilie,drop of teriyaki sauce dropped in and mix,you'll need to make a sauce.Bot for what it is...not bad. **** out of 5 star's for these. Now the Samasos get 1* out of 5*'s... Also no dipping sauce packet,but for me,I ate 2 triangles,I tried, just couldn't get into em.
