I got a special invite to a pop up event from Milkstache. I've passed by this place a few times on the way to dollar tree. Very dangerous place to walk into, the sweets look amazing. We picked up a cookie and oh my goodness was it so good. Claudia helped us out, super sweet and very knowledgeable about the baked goods. This place is well lit, with a beautiful display of sweets
Small cake shop. They mainly sell cakes on the weekends and most whole cakes need to be pre-ordered. If you want slices, come early or call first because they do sell out. ::Desserts:: Whisky Chocolate (full cake -- $70) If you like whisky, this might be for you because the whisky flavor is very strong. For me, it was overpowering and I couldn't really enjoy the chocolate. There was also a lot of cream compared to the cake, so it felt heavy but not satisfying. I shared the cakes with a few people, and the general reaction was, "It's okay." The Strawberry cake was light and soft. German chocolate, I think it had blueberries in it. The fruit didn't work for me. My favorite was the Hazelnut cake, good balance and flavor without being too sweet. I will come back for this one! ::Customer Service:: First visit the service was nice. This cake shop is not a typical cake store you cannot just walk in and buy a cake of the rack you must place an order online ahead of time or by phone pricing of course for this type of artisan cake is at a premium if you are buying this type of cake it is not about price it is about taste uniqueness and specialness with fancy Packaging we have tried a couple of their cakes before it is unique and a special so if you are in the mood for this type of cake this is one of the few places that offers this
First heard about Patisserie Bluejay from SGV eats where quite a few members highly recommended their mango cake. Originally wanted to order a mango and yuzu cake but was informed that I needed to provide at least 5 days notice. Do note they are closed on Mon and Tues so plan accordingly. I should've done more research as the cake I received was nothing like what I was expecting. Here I was expecting a mousse like cake but instead it just seemed like layers of jello. Once we cut the cake and placed it on its side and cut into it with a fork, all the layers came apart. For those who don't like a super sweet cake, this would be perfect for you. Sadly, I don't think I'll be coming back anytime soon for a cake but may give their cookies a try if nearby.
BLUEJAY has never disappointed me with their products! I feel so blessed to always have the chance to try their different cakes. A few days ago was the Mid-Autumn Festival, and they had three flavors of mooncakes available for sale. When I saw them, I was like, OMG, they look so good! -- and they're mini ones too! I wanted to order four boxes, but they mentioned they were short on boxes and a few other materials, so they might only be able to make one for me. I told them that's fine but asked if they could try their best. They didn't promise anything, but I could tell they really tried to accommodate me -- even though I was picking them up after the official pickup dates. I also ordered a few slices of cake, and I gave both the mooncakes and cakes to my friends -- they all loved them! Thank you again, BLUEJAY, for your amazing service and delicious treats!
[August 9, 12:50PM] - Order: Peach Oolong, Guava Passionfruit, Mango Yuzu, Sesame Cheesecake, Sunnyside Up Cookie Craving desserts, I stopped by this bakery to try out their items. The selection is small but were all pretty unique. Since all the cake slices looked appetizing, I ended up getting one of each. *Guava Passion* was too sour for my liking. Surprisingly, *Sesame Cheesecake* turned out to be my favorite despite my general dislike for sesame. As for the *cookie*, the wrapper stuck to the marshmallow. I ended up tossing the cookie away after a few bites. To sum it up, the flavors were unique, subtle, and the item names matched the taste well. The cakes were decent, but nothing that blew my mind. The interior is charming, decorated with real plants. While they provide seating indoors, the bakery can be uncomfortably warm. Parking lot is huge with plentiful of vacant spots.
3.5, saw this cute spot when i was around the parking lot and decided to step in and get some sweets. I got their milk tea cookies, pistachio cookies, and their mango cake. I really liked their milk tea cookie, it was a nice flavor for a cookie and the little lava/chocolate melt in the middle was really nice. My sister didn't like it though but I liked it a lot and I felt that it wasn't even too sweet. The pistachio cookie was alright, not much on flavor, it's good if you prefer drier cookies. The cake was alright but not really my thing. Staff and spot were very nice and cute though! they have a lot of interesting creations and fun and original flavors too so itd be fun to try other stuff as well.
Time and time again! Patisserie Bluejay has perfected their cakes and cookies. I got a slice of their lychee rose for my mom and she loved how it's not too sweet! The lychee is refreshing and delicious, love how pretty the gelatin looked on top! For a crowd pleaser cake, this shop is the place to go. The staff are super sweet and quick with ringing you up! I loved my time here!
A cute and quaint little bakery with tasty, Asian-inspired cookie and cake flavors. I've been wanting to try this place out and found the perfect opportunity for my sister's birthday. We dropped in to buy some cookies and check out their cake selection and chat with its very kind employees! The cookie selection is the same every day, but the cake selection in-store rotates--for custom cakes, order a few days in advance! We ended up leaving with a Hong Kong milk tea cookie, sunny side up smore cookie, and double chocolate cookie. We also bought a slice of pistachio cheesecake and two slices of rose-lychee cake which were perfect. Not too sweet, not too floral, just the right balance of flavors and textures. Definitely coming back to order a custom cake next time!
Wow! A treasure found in this corner of SGV neighbor. Amazing Artistic cake on order for Easter Sunday; Not,...knowing which cake to order and received a warm accommodating and welcoming service as always. The ambiance was so welcoming with tables nicely decorated and tulips flower was a nice touch! Mango Yuzu cake was ready upon pick up as recommended by owner patisserie chef was her KISS. She had agreed to slice for me to taste and I was blown away that she listens to my taste preference sight unseen lol So pretty and almost too pretty to eat in several layers of tasty treats the cake matcha layers the mango the tangy bits and especially the mango tops to boot! Cannot go wrong with any of her delicious cookies as well Found me a hidden treasure found in my own backyard and yes pretty epic pic in which I took as soon as I may yelped Bon a petit !
Small bakery in same plaza as 626 ice cream. The cakes are light. Cookies are crispy on the outside and chewy/soft in inside. Unique flavors. FYI, for whole cakes, special order in advance.
I have passed by this place but never got to buy their goods until now. I went on a weekday and they said that cake slices are usually only made during the weekends. Luckily, I got a osmanthus pear, caneles and matcha chocolate. All the desserts were delicious, with the osmanthus pear cake slices being my favorite. I liked how all of them were not overly sweet. The osmanthus pear slice was not only visually stunning but the softness + pear fruitiness was incredible. The caneles I ate about 6 hrs after buying to share with my gf. They were still semi crunchy on the outside and chewy spongy on the inside with a nice caramel taste. I let my gf eat the whole matcha chocolate cookie and she loved it. Overall, I am so happy I got to get a cake slices. I will be coming back on a weekend to try the rest of the available options.
I got the last black sesame cookie of the day. It had a good nuttiness but the texture wasn't my favorite. I like it when the cookie stays together when you bit into it, but this crumbled quickly. I don't know when they baked it so it might not have been fresh but the black sesame crackers were a fun surprise.
I went back to Bluejay because I missed its cake so much. With my luck, it had a couple of slices of cake for me to buy. I got the black sesame cake, mango, rose, and durian. All of them tasted good and had a balanced flavor. Although the hours are kind of odd, it was totally worth it. read more
A small hidden spot! We came to get other things but stopped by for their huge cookie! For $4 we got the rocky road cookie. It was delicious, soft and chewy and crunchy outer border. They also had very fancy cakes and cake slices for sale. read more

Cute boutique bakery! I heard about this place from an Eater article last year and had been meaning to try it since. We ordered a slice of mango and yuzu cake, canele, and a milk tea cookie. I'm very picky about my caneles and this one passed the bar: no white butts, crispy and light exterior, with a slightly custard-y interior. The flavors of the cake and cookie really shone through, and you can tell the team has put extensive recipe testing to get unique flavors that you can't find anywhere else. However, it seems like there's still some management issues that this place is running into. While the sitting are was really cozy, the walls were plastered with busy text about how the store can't keep up with demand. I hope they work through the supply side issues so the San Gabriel valley can enjoy these flavors for years to come! read more

We've been to Patisserie Bluejay a few times before but this was the first time we went for cookies instead of cake and canales. I gotta say, the cookies are freaking amazing! We picked up four: sesame, matcha chocolate, milk tea, and coffee pecan. The sesame one was a bit mild and was reminiscent of a peanut butter cookie but the other three...WOW! They were so strong flavored! It was like having a cup of coffee, milk tea, and matcha and the texture was perfect. Crispy exterior and soft, gooey interior. Really really delicious. Will definitely be back to try their other cookies and gotta get that tom yum cake too. And let's not forget the super nice staff who make sure to wrap everything up nicely so when you get home it's like opening a present. read more
Small, family owned dessert shop with unique flavor combos in their cookies, mousse cakes, and canelés! We enjoyed everything we tried - especially the Coconut Mango Mousse Cake - light, refreshing, and not too sweet - perfect cool treat for summer! We're always looking for local dessert shops to stock up for a few days - especially when it's too hot to cook - and Patisserie Bluejay did not disappoint. We tried the mini Coconut Mango Mousse Cake, a Chocolate Marshmallow cookie, Strawberry Chocolate cookie, and a Coffee Canelé. The cookies were excellent in texture and flavor. Both were great but the clear winner for us was the strawberry chocolate with real dried strawberries embedded. Their cookies are soft, pillowy, and not too sweet which we love! And we ate them last - so about three days after we bought them and they were still fresh tasting and delicious. The coffee canelé was also lovely - slightly crisp outer shell with an airy, creamy center and nice coffee flavor profile - perfect snack size for a small dessert and we will definitely be trying more of their fun flavors next time. The Coconut Mango Mousse Cake was divine!! It's layers of light coconut on top of mango mousse with a mango jelly filling and popping boba and grass jelly on top - it's the perfect summer dessert - cool and so fresh. And again, not too sweet - perfect balance - one we will keep coming back for! They had several different mousse cakes available the day we visited so we look forward to trying other flavors. The shop is clean and inviting but there is limited seating so it's more of a to-go type place. The staff member that assisted us was very nice and helpful. Prices are excellent for the area and the quality. They offer custom made cakes but require quite a bit of advance notice since they're so small (understandable). Ordering is done via Instagram or Facebook messenger with links on their website. The shop is located in a small shopping plaza - easy to find off a main road with lots of parking. We'll definitely be visiting regularly to try out more fun, unique desserts! read more

I've been coming to Patisserie Bluejay for many months now, and it's now my go-to place to order birthday cakes! They've switched to a preorder model as of Sept 2024, so it's best to DM them on insta (@ patisserie.bluejay) for cakes! My cake preferences are usually not too sweet, light and fruity, and not too heavy with cream. Patisserie Bluejay cakes are my ideal. However my absolute favorite item here is the black sesame cookie - perfectly nutty and not too sweet! Their milk tea cookie is also fantastic (and usually sells out early). I've tried a variety of cakes and other pastries here, and have shared them with many others. I've noticed it's really down to personal preference on what is best - so you really can't go wrong with whatever catches your eye! I love the lychee rose and mango yuzu cakes. Their caneles are my mom's favorite. And their cream puffs are always selling out! read more

Their limited hours have made it a bit challenging to visit, though it seems like they've added more days since they first opened. We came right at opening on a weekend, but were quite disappointed not everything was available. That said, the pistachio cheesecake was our favorite -- super tasty! I found this patisserie on social media and wanted to check it out since it had a lot of asian-inspired flavors. I came here on a Friday after work, around 5pm and by the time I got there, there weren't much pastries left. A few cakes and several cookies were available. I got their black sesame cookie and it was good! Not too sweet, big soft cookie, and flavorful. The shop itself is small and cute, with some seating inside. It's located in a plaza so there's ample parking available. read more
I got the 7-inch earl grey orange cake for my bf's mom's birthday and the whole fam loved it! My bf said it was the best he ever had--not too sweet and the earl grey really complemented the orange zest filling. He told me he wants a cake from here for his bday lol I will be back to try their other cakes and cookies! I placed an order for durian cheesecake a week prior and the process was easy. I just messaged them via Instagram and that was it! They said to pick the cake anytime after 12pm and it was ready as promised. They are wonderful people, easy to deal with. And the durian cheesecake...oh man. I don't even like durian but the way this cheesecake was put together...the word that comes to mind is 'sublime.' Not exaggerating. It still has the taste and fragrance of durian but they did something to make it less pungent while elevating the flavor. What they do isn't baking. It's wizardry. read more

Small local business that I think if family run. This place always brings me joy when I get the chance to visit. Definitely more of a to go place than dine in as they don't really offer drinks or have a restroom so keep that in mind. Food 4.5/5 I would say that maybe 90% of the stuff here hits the spot. My favorite is definitely their milk tea cookies which are just so delicious. The flavor profiles jump at u with some notes of chocolate. Their sake cheesecake that they recently have is also really good. The flavor combinations just work so well. Peach oolong could use a little bit more fine tuning as I found it to be alright. Service 5/5 Staff was helpful and kind with recomendations. Packed all the stuff well. Ambiance 3/5 It's a small, plain shop with 2 tables, BUT the addition of plants in the front make it very cute and adds some liveliness to the shop front. Definitely not a sit down and hangout kind of place so keep that in mind. Go in, treat the staff kindly, grab your order, and go. read more
Their cookies are amazing ! I have waited until I have tried at least two of their cookies to write this review. First, the texture of their cookies is perfect for me; soft and chewy! Next, the flavors of the cookies are unique and they work well together. They offer interesting flavors like matcha with white chocolate, coffee and pecan cookies, pistachio cookies and black sesame cookies. If you are a coffee lover, you will like the coffee and pecan cookie. The same is true if you like pistachio. The pistachio cookie tasted like a soft shortbread butter cookie with nice bites of pistachio. Each cookie is $4. I think that is a reasonable price for a gourmet cookie. This bakery is located in an unassuming shopping plaza with a 99 cents store. Service was good too. The guy behind the counter has been very patient every time I visited while I ogled and analyzed every cookie tirelessly. I am so happy that this is now my new cookie spot! I also want to try their cakes next time. They look interesting especially the rose and lychee and the oolong and peach flavors. read more

My friend and I wanted to get 626 ice cream on a Sunday afternoon, but since it doesn't open till 7 pm, we decided to give this place a try. I wanted to try the pistachio cookie and my friend wanted the cream puff and canele, didn't see any in the display case so we asked and turned out they were still making it. Always good to ask if you don't see something in the display case! I just got the pistachio cookie.. which was $4, not surprising since everywhere cookies are about this price now. My friend ordered the strawberry cookie, milk tea cookie, milk tea canele, regular canele, cream puff and some other cakes. I really enjoyed the pistachio cookie! It was crispy on the edge and chewy in the center with bits and whole pistachios. My friend liked the strawberry cookie, but wasn't a fan of the milk tea cookie, milk tea canele and the cream puff. It's a cute little place with a few tables and seats inside for you to enjoy your desserts. Parking is in a lot with plenty of spaces read more
4 1/2 Stars 2/3/2024 Was excited to check out this new bakery due to all the glowing reviews! Went yesterday not long after it opened. PUNCH PUFF Read good reviews on their version of a cream puff. I say their version because it seems their punch puff is not a traditional choux pastry, as they add an almond topping. Disappointingly, their choux pastry was very dry and super crunchy. That is what I got with each bite. If it wasn't for the vanilla pastry cream that created a barrier from all the crusty, dry, crunchy choux pastry, this would have been really, really bad. Although it's more bad than good. The vanilla cream filling was good and I wished there was more. I did buy an extra and tried it after it was stored in the fridge and it tastes better after the cream puff has softened. The pastry cream does taste eggy compared to it being eaten the day before. However, I would not recommend their punch puff. I've had better cream puffs or crispy cream puffs (Choux au Craquelin) at other bakeries in LA. CAKES All the cakes were delicately made and because of the gelatin fillings and jellys on top, it was a jiggly cake. All were very delicate and light in sweetness, as most Asian cakes would taste like. All were very delicate and feminine cakes. Most of these cakes had sponge cake on the bottom, pastry cream or cream, then a gelatin-flavored middle, and then topped with a decorative jelly. Please refrigerate as soon as possible! All of the cakes started melting on my way back home! There was so much traffic too, so I had an even longer drive back home! So I had to eat them right as I got home. The cakes started losing shape; cakes were no longer standing, but leaning to the side like the Leaning Tower of Pisa. PEAR OSMANTHUS CAKE You can taste the pear upfront with soft pear pieces in between. Very delicate, layered cake with sponge cake, cream, and jelly on top. You can taste a bit of the osmanthus in the back, but the pear is the star of the show. ROSE AND LYCHEE Beautifully decorated cake! Love the details of the jelly on top with edible gold leaf sheets and dried rose petals inside the jelly. You can taste both the rose and lychee and neither one was overpowering the other. Vanilla spongecake, cream and jelly. OOLONG PEACH You can taste the strong oolong tea and a hint of peach in the background. Yet the oolong flavor is strong. Anyone who loves oolong will enjoy this cake. JASMIN CHOCOLATE This had a jasmine tea and milk chocolate combo. Most of it had gelatin in it. A very thin layer of cake on the bottom, while the rest was chocolate and jasmine flavored gelatin. Almost this soft mousse-like texture due to the cream, yet it did have that gelatin texture as well. Was really hoping to try their black sesame cheesecake duet cake slice and their canelé, but they were unavailable. Out of all the cakes I tried today, I enjoyed the Jasmin Chocolate the most, then the Rose Lychee cake. BLACK SESAME COOKIE Very good! The black sesame flavor was all there! I was really impressed! A thick, buttery, soft cookie with a light crunch on the outside. There were gems of black sesame sugar shards inserted on top, which made it even better! This was my favorite out of the two cookies. However, cookie becomes more softer when you eat the next day. Keep that in mind. Texture change does make or break a cookie. MATCHA COOKIE The matcha cookie had a similar cookie texture as the black sesame cookie. It was also thick and soft. There were loads of matcha flavor in it, which was also sweet and floral. The white chocolate morsels added a sweetness to it. This was good! AMBIANCE / SEATS / LOCATION Located in a run-down strip mall in Arcadia. Inside, there is a table of 4 and a table for 2. The metal tables and chairs are not the coziest nor aesthetically pleasing to dine indoors. There were some plant decorations, but it's not Instagrammable. CUSTOMER SERVICE The woman at the counter took all the orders while the owner and pastry chef worked behind in the kitchen. Customer service was okay. She wasn't particularly friendly nor welcoming. But overall service wasn't bad. Ordering several slices of cake and other goods does take time for them to box up too. Since this is a fairly new bakery, it wasn't busy. Beautiful and tasty lychee cake. Texture is amazing it has so many layers and dimensions. One of the best cakes I've had in SGV. Visited here on a Wednesday 1:45 pm majority of the items were sold out but I was lucky enough to get the last piece of lychee cake. There's tables inside and lots of parking shared with other stores. I would recommend coming here if you like artisanal cakes. I would definitely come again but try to go when it opens. Quaint and nifty little patisserie nestled in an unexpected plaza! I came in looking for some bread (which they don't have), but stayed for their cakes. I got the black forest cake, and it was a perfect level of sweetness. Their cakes all look gorgeous, perfect layers, unique flavors. They also have some delicious cookies! They're more chewy and soft than crisp. And those flavors were bomb. They have a milk tea cookie I want to try next time. Also, cream puffs filled to order and flavored caneles! I'm glad to see this place stay after almost 1 year - yay! My mom and I come here from the-to-time to support them. It's good to see they have more and more variety now. I love that their cakes and cookies are not too sweet, so it doesn't feel heavy to eat. Keep up the great work and hope to see the business stay around for years to come!!! read more

I never knew that this pastry place was in the small shopping area that I passed by daily until my friend told me about it. The shop itself is really small and cute. They don't have a huge selection, but what they do have, they do very well. We got lots of things to try, but my favorites were the sesame cookie, pistachio cheesecake, and the Punch Puffs. Although their cakes are delicious, I do think the cake slices are a little overpriced at about $7.50, but I do think the cookies and puffs are worth the $4 and $4.50. The cookie had good flavor and the perfect chewiness I like in a cookie. I definitely will come back for the puffs, they were amazing. They are crispy on the outside, full of delicious vanilla custard on the inside that they pipe in when you order. If you want to try an amazing custard puff, give this place a try. read more

Went to check this place out because I've heard pretty good reviews about the cakes. I came in entirely as a noob and did not know that full size cakes would have to be reserved days in advance (my fault for not checking) and I was trying to get a cake for a birthday. Luckily the lady at the front was really helpful and informed us that they were able to help provide a full size cake for pickup in just an hour . Flavors were limited but that is to be expected when coming in last minute so I definitely appreciated her help. We ended up getting the lychee rose cake and aesthetic was a 10/10 along with the flavor! Definitely recommend this place and will be back again. read more

Do you accommodate allergies on your cakes (specifically nuts)?
There are some cakes from us that are nut free. But as far as gluten, almost all of our cakes contain gluten.
Does the whiskey cake have whiskey ingredient? Can kids eat it?
We usually we suggest customer away from buying that if we know theres gonna be kids in the customer’s party. Even if tracer amount, the whisky taste might not be appreciated by kids.
