But what great service they offer at this location! They consistently find parts for my late father's 30-year old, foreign-made pickup truck, aka 'Rattler'. It might be a strange gasket, an odd bolt, a pair of compatible wiper blades.......or even oil for a building's door closers! I understand that most Yelpers have a bias toward indy-owned/operated venues, and that's not a bad thing. Private ownership and individualism is highly touted in our country, and in the face of increasing local and national regulatory requirements, coupled with the 'new' economic climates that seem to have become the norm, successful start-up venues are increasingly rare. So supporting same is very important for Truth, Justice, and the American Way. Yet, I must sing the phrases of this particular 'zone nestled in the heart of Hixson! The staff has never failed to be helpful, pleasant, and courteous, and have never been condescending toward my ignorance, or my sometimes 'laughably' small purchases. I would consider exploring other options…read more Upon having our transmission rebuilt and rear main seal replaced by Gears we had an immediate oil leak from rear main seal (approximately 1 quart every 2 hours). Gears Transmission indicated they were not obligated to warranty rear main seal leak (in which they replaced). After 4 weeks of constant calls, broken promises to remedy, paying for repairs out of my pocket and pursuing legal action for reimbursement I finally received reimbursement for warranty work. To make matters worse, a broken bolt was discovered from seal install, meaning they broke a bolt and attempted to hide during installation. In addition, a loose bolt in transmission bell housing was also found. During transmission repair and warranty claim, Gears was horrible about providing updates; they only called/ returned our calls two times over this 9-week process. Granted, we travelled cross country day after receiving truck with rebuilt transmission and Gears had to use another shop to perform warranty repairs; however we had to take truck to 2 different shops of their choice so they could obtain multiple quotes and we ended up paying for repairs out of pocket after they reneged on paying their bill to vendor of their choice. Only after beginning legal proceedings did I receive reimbursement for main seal replacement.

When I first started using them, my Honda Pilot had 225k miles and they could have easily taken advantage of my ignorance when it came to mechanical knowledge; however, they never tried to oversell repairs or charge me for a quick mechanical check-up before a long trip like the shops in the past did. The pilot needed a few repairs over the years, but 'she' just hit 310k miles and is still going strong. I recently took my 'new' 2014 Honda there to replace a bulb and they only charged me for the part, no servicing fee. They answer calls and questions with so much patience. I was having an intermittent issue with the electric power steering (EPS) system on my vehicle. Another repair facility had told me I likely needed a new EPS module, with an estimate approaching $4,000. Before spending that kind of money, I wanted a second opinion. I brought the vehicle to Christian Brothers and gave them a written description of exactly what I had been experiencing. I also made it clear that I did not want any work performed until they had diagnosed the vehicle and provided me with an estimate. What I received back was one of the most detailed vehicle inspections I have ever seen. They went through the vehicle thoroughly, including the computer systems and trouble codes, and explained their findings in a way that was easy to understand. Rather than immediately recommending the most expensive repair, they identified several possible causes for the EPS issue and recommended a conservative, step-by-step approach. Their goal was clearly to diagnose the problem properly and avoid replacing expensive components unnecessarily. They originally estimated the first phase of the work at roughly $875. When I picked the vehicle up, the final bill was only about $620. They had been able to save money on some of the parts and passed those savings directly along to me. It is not very often that you approve a repair estimate and then get a call saying the actual bill is more than $250 LESS. Even more importantly, they were completely transparent about the EPS issue. They found two stored codes, including one related specifically to the power steering system, but after performing the initial repairs and testing the vehicle, they could not get the EPS failure to repeat. They did not try to sell me a $4,000 module simply because that was one possible cause. The problem may or may not ultimately return, but I now understand what they found, what they corrected, and what the next step would be if it happens again. That gives me a great deal of confidence. Honest communication, a remarkably detailed inspection, clear explanations, conservative troubleshooting, and a final bill significantly lower than the amount I had already agreed to pay. I suggest you find somewhere that actually has people working there that know how to speak to customers without degrading them or yelling at them. This manager is the most unprofessional manager I've ever had to encounter, he has no training whatsoever. If you want to be yelled at, talked down to, and have a horrible experience this is the place for you. If you actually want to encounter someone that is a half way decent person I would literally suggest anywhere else. It's shame people have no common sense or decency about themselves anymore. Do better.
