I could not be happier with this place. I live in a nursing home so they came and got my van fixed it brought it back for no charge except for the work done. Offered to take it to dealer for me since I can't to do the recalls. Plus set me up to get the dents taken out. Could not be more thankful. The price was more then reasonable very happy. I worked at a few different car dealerships for 11 years which leaves me very suspicious of fair business practices of anyone in the automotive industry. I have been going to North Lake Auto since I left the evil auto industry 8 years ago. If I moved to Wisconsin I think I'd drive all the way back to let them fix my car. Over the years they have graciously extended me courtesies that amazed me. They had to unexpectedly keep my car over night once and then for my trouble gave me some money off my bill. They have a buy four oil changes and your 5th is free. I was up for my freebie last week but it conflicted with my $15 off manufacturers coupon that would expire before my next oil change so they handed me $15 in cash. Who does that? I have never felt ripped off. In fact, if you're not due for a service quite yet they will tell you you can have it done next time instead of trying to get your money that day. North Lake Auto had exceeded my expectations. read more

I was railroad with the pricing by the lead mechanic/servicing guy. In that I was quoted a ridiculous amount for the repair of the "brake resovoir and master cylinder. I was told the amount and initially agreed, but after checking the price of parts and labor at the local auto parts store, I wanted to pick up my car but was told I could not. I was lied to that the car was being worked on, it was not, and that the price was appropriate and it was not. I agreed on a lower price reluctantly, and feeling scammed for sure. A few days later I had problems with the work performed and took the car back, and was told " my guy test drove it and didn't find anything wrong." They refused to look at the car and assess for potential problems. Instead, my car set in the shop neglected as I waited - approx. 90 min. I was told the car was being/had been road tested, yet it never left the shop. In essence the lead mechanic lied and misled me to think my car was being worked on or road tested. The guy looked me in the eye and lied when my car set unattended in the back. I found it sitting there because he told me it would be brought up front, but after a half hour or so my car did not appear, so I went into the shop only to find my car sitting there. Afterwards they rushed to bring it to the front of the store, and this time my brakes are worst then when I brought it to them. read more

Tried calling to ask how much an oil change would cost. The man answers with their standard prices, $25 for a regular, semi is $35 and full synthetic is $45. I ask him if that's for the full 6 quarts my car takes and he says quarts cost extra. I ask him how much it would cost for the oil change with the 6 quarts and the guy on the phone sounds confused as if it's a difficult question to answer and as if I was speaking Klingon. He says I'm too busy to answer your question. I tell him you won't be getting my business and he says okay, cool. I've brought my many cars here multiple times, never had such a rude experience. Safe to say I won't want to be returning if this is how they treat their potential customers. read more

My best friend's elderly parents were taken advantage of by this place for $5000 over the past few years. Their car has 41, 000 miles on it and they were changing the oil every 2 months, changed the cabin filter 3 times, and did a lot of unnecessary work (like brake flush, serpentine belt guaranteed for life changed twice, master cylinder, engine oil pan gasket) - all on a car rarely driven by the 90 year old couple. Parts were consistently hugely marked up. When confronted about this, they denied there was any problem. This is your classic sleazy car repair shop that rips off old people. read more

This is the "Uhaul" truck rental they tried to stick me with. In addition to the gang graffiti, the sound the heap of junk made when they moved it made me nervous. I made reservations a few days in advance. Jon was very nice, understanding & apologetic. He said the truck should have been taken out of service because the graffiti happened a week ago. Another man with longer salt & pepper hair & a ponytail was extremely standoffish and rude. He acted like it was no big deal and kept making excuses. I called other U-Haul rentals in the area and they had nothing available. After calling customer service, U-Haul gave me a $50 credit. I would not recommend renting from here. U-Haul as a company should be ashamed of this place. As for auto repairs I have never had any work done. read more

NEVER AGAIN. My car needed the heating repaired which took Northlake Auto 2 times to correct. The first time they sent my car to an outside vendor which cost me extra. This didn't do the trick, so back I go. The second time they said it was the thermometer (which is not cheap). Why couldn't anyone tell me this the first time? Northlake Auto has proven to me that their staff is incompetent and they do not know how to repair major problems with your car. Not only have they conned me into spending more money with them, they dick me around on when the work will be complete. 4 days of work I have missed because they decided they couldn't finish the work on the day they tell me it would be done and I was stuck with no transportation. This place is good for oil changes, but that's it. read more

My mom and I used to go here all the time. Then, a few years ago they totally overcharged my mom so we stopped coming here. I told my father in law not to go here anymore. He didn't listen and they did the same thing to him. This shop is the rare combination of technical expertise and old school customer service that you don't find all that often. I cannot recommend this place highly enough. It will be our repair shop from here on out. By way of background, we had an appointment for a Friday morning at 8 am at a franchise shop, but they suddenly shut down for two weeks due to Covid. We found Northlake on the AAA website and gave them a call out of desperation. We are so grateful we did. They took our 2010 Honda Civic immediately. By mid-afternoon, we had the diagnosis, the cost, and the expected turnaround time, which they hit without any problem. They made fair recommendations, were very communicative and very honest with us, and they got the repair done right within the promised time. It is, hands-down, the best repair shop we have ever been to and the only place we will be taking our car to in the future. read more

Don't go here. My wife called to see how much they would charge to put a sensor on the car and she was told it would take almost 20 hours to disassemble the motor and change the sensor. Nonsense, it took me 5 minutes to remove the part after jacking of the car and finding the location. Stay far away. I would give them 0 stars if possible. read more

Not good at all. If you want to get the work done properly in one visit I would recommend going someplace else. Also what's included in your "service" can be very unclear and I hope that's accidental. I've spent hours there that I can't get back. Most of the time spent was waiting for them to do correctly what they failed to do on the prior visit. read more

What ever you do DON'T stop here for any service!!!! I went in for an oil change and I magically have no air filter in my car now, and no one else has opened my hood since the oil change!!! And I know if I was missing the air filter before the oil change they would not have missed the opportunity to sell me a new one!!! read more

been here twice for an excellent priced oil change- until the price went up. generally it takes a very long time and i have found the customer service to be... temperamental. sometimes its good, sometimes they are rude. and they always try to upsell you. with so many places that provide the same service, i now go somewhere they are always nice. read more
