I've lived in this apartment complex for over four years, always paid on time, and never had issues, until recently. Unfortunately, the way management handles residents is extremely disappointing. If a payment is even slightly late, they immediately send your account to collections, regardless of your long-term payment history or past reliability. There is zero grace period, zero understanding, and zero willingness to work with people. On top of that, they charged my account twice even though my resident portal clearly showed a zero balance. When I brought it up, they refused to refund the duplicate charge, even after I explained that my bank would hit me with fees because of their mistake. They simply didn't care. I'm now forced to pay extra fees for an entire month due to an error on their end while they continue to act like it's not their problem. This place has become money-hungry and insensitive to its residents. If you're considering moving here, be aware: they take advantage of people, offer no flexibility, and don't take responsibility for mistakes that cost you money. After years of being a good tenant, this experience has completely changed how I view this complex. I would not recommend it. read more

I have lived here several years and my favorite thing about northport is the view! In summer I feel like I'm at a resort and on the winter like I'm at a winter land resort lol it's beautiful! It's like a big family I love the office staff! The girls are always so helpful and ready to help. The maintenance here is great as well as groundskeepers. My favorite person is Cooper and my dog adores him and so does our family and whenever my dog notices him she runs straight to him and he's always so loving and caring. If you're looking for a place come check these apts out! You won't regret it! read more

BEWARE OF NORTHPORT APARTMENTS!!!!!!!! Only left 1 star because I had to. Northport will nickel and dime you for every cent you have. Do not trust this apartment complex whatsoever. They talk the place up and it looks nice from the outside, but just wait until the bugs move in, and they charge YOU as a tenant for the bug spraying company to come in. One apartment in our block of apartments started an infestation and they got evicted for it then northport wanted to pin the whopping $2400 pest control fee on me and my fiancé when we did nothing wrong!! 2400 pest fee to spray a 950 sq ft apartment?!? My fiancé even spoke to a lady in the main office and she told him it was the apartment above us who started the roach infestations. We took them to court and everything having to spend 1000's for no reason. TERRIBLE maintenance department none of them shower so they come in reeking of BO and alcohol. I've heard through other tenants that several of northports maintenance men get drunk on the job and have smelled it on their breath. I also heard that one maintenance man got physical with a female tenant! We had about 10 leaks in our bathroom in 2 years of living there. We would call the office and maintenance and leave messages and they would never call back or come to check on our bathroom. One leak it took 6 months for them to come fix. We just moved out and the ladies at the front office are all oblivious of what they tell people. The turnover rate is so high there that I talk to one girl then she's gone the next week! They turn around and tell people all different things then want to charge us late fees for things we got the wrong information on. Krystal justice and Carrie bock are very inhumane people. They will never return your calls ever, and will screw you any which way they can and they will take your money with no just cause, and if you don't pay they threaten you with court. This is by far the worst apartment complex I've ever stayed at in my life and i wouldn't wish living here on my worst enemy. Please please please reconsider moving to northport because you will very much so regret it. read more

I lived at Northport for two years. I spent $710 a month for a one bedroom, one bath apartment. It included a balcony over a manmade lake with a huge clear sliding door to get out to it. This served as a nice huge window over the lake. It was a nice view but during sunset the sun shone right in and cooked the place up. My apartment included a little laundry room. Complete with washer and dryer. So that was nice. Internet/TV options were scarce. You could either pick AT&T Uverse or use satellite off of the balcony. Although not technically Northport's fault, AT&T Uverse stinks. You have to use their provided routers and even in a 800 square foot apartment I couldn't get a WiFi signal half the time. The location is optimal. Although the traffic noise took some time getting used to, being right on Hall Road has huge benefits, Partridge Creek Mall and Macomb Community College both right across the street. M59, M53 and I94 are all really close. Countless Restaurants and Lakeside Mall all a small drive away. I would walk to a strip mall just a quarter mile east of Northport all the time. There's a Five Guys and a Potbelly's right there that make for a good evening agenda. Landscaping is done very well in the Spring and Summer, but what kind of stunk is the snow plowing during the parking lot. You have to pay extra for covered parking, and they would really on plow the middle of the parking lots so there was always a wall of snow and ice behind your car and the walking area was always a treacherous ice lake. They're also a little lax on security. My buddy got his car broken into while spending the night at my place, and when we asked the center office for footage, we found out that they don't even have security cameras. We were told that if we wanted security we'd have to set up our own cameras. So if you choose to live here, either count on doing that or making sure that NOTHING is in your cars. At the center office there's a pool (open in the summer months) and a small gym with treadmills and elliptical machines. They're not open 24/7 so for me I was unable to use them as my schedule only permits me to have nights off really. Oh! They're maintenance department is pretty quick. Both instances that I needed them they fixed the problem that day. read more

I have had nothing but issues. My car has been broken in to twice. My wheels stolen off of my car 3 times. Don't move here. Don't live here. I've asked them for cameras after the second time my wheels were stolen and they took no action. There is no security here at all that drives the parking lots to make sure every hit is ok. All of the stuff is super cheap and breaks in the apartment. Oh, I forgot, after all of this, they still raise your rent every year. read more

I'm a current resident of this apartment, and I'm writing this review because Northport have decided to change the AC unit and we have been without an AC unit for almost a month and counting. Now this was not a problem but it has been a problem since Saturday 4/23. on the 23rd it was 75 degrees and today (4/24) it's freaking 80 degrees and we do not have AC. We have been in this apartment for over 2 years and I get you are trying to replace the unit but really a whole month!!! now I have to book a hotel room for few days on top of paying rent here..... which is total BS. This is also on top of cutting the water off every time there is an issue for few hours at a time (this happens once every 2 months or so) and on top of losing power frequently not due to a weather issue or due to the supplier (DTE) but due to issues with the wires in the apartment complex. I Would really not recommend anyone to lease here unless you are willing to put up with BS like this, losing power often, or losing water for few hours at a time every 2 months. read more

Prior to move in: Two days before our expected move in date the office calls us to inform us that the cleaning company did not clean our apartment and we had to wait another two weeks. 2. First day of move in- No AC. The AC was charged, even though they knew there was a leak and we requested a professional come to take a look at everything, the only thing performed was the AC charge. 3. 1 week into move in: A week into living here the AC broke (again), because that is what happens when there is a leak. The maintenance people came into fix it on Monday and left a note saying they did not have the proper components and material to fix or charge the AC. It was 90 degrees outside. I called the maintenance person that was staffed for the night and the maintenance person I spoke to said "Its going to get down into the 50s tonight, open a window". Mind you, its 79 degrees inside the apartment. 4. 1 week into move in: Management also had maintenance and a contractor come out the next day to actually fix the AC the way it should have been fixed previously. They came into the apartment and left paint chips and a huge mess all over the walkway of the apartment. 5. 1 week into move in: Same day management had a contractor and maintenance come out for AC repair. I came home to find they did not lock our back door. We live on the first floor... 6. Friday October 14th: Northport was aware that NO ONE was allowed in without one of us home. So, maintenance just let themselves in this Friday (while my fiancé was home). Cut a huge hole into our wall and left. The previous day, I even called and confirmed they understood no one was to come in. So what next? My fiancé leaves and they let themselves BACK IN without supervision or permission. 7. Numerous times from October-April: Water was shut off many times without prior notification. We have been left without being able to cook, clean, or shower randomly and quite often. 8. April 1st: Entire bathroom floods from the ceiling vents around 9pm at night. Drywall in the bedroom as well as the kitchen is wet. Hallway by bathroom is also soaked; maintenance cut out the foam in the carpet and removed most the water from the bathroom floor. Current date: April 10th. Nothing has been done and no solutions have been offered regarding preventative measures for mold for the damaged drywall. Manager has not returned our call yet in a timely manger either. 9. Three weeks into April: Regarding the flooding issue- I sent an Email to the office and not corporate, which does not surprise me (email located on Edwardrose webpage). This is the part that baffles me-the minimum wage front desk worker took it upon himself to respond to an Email that was clearly meant for management (not that management is much more helpful). His response was purely argumentative, incoherent, and discourteous. I have never been exposed to such awful customer service- on all levels from plebeians to upper management. 10. 2nd week of May: Northport wants to leave our apartment door open all day to paint the door. This is where it is important to know your rights as tenants! Nowhere in the lease (which was reviewed by my lawyer) does it say they are allowed to do this. They perform maintenance on the building but not leave your belongings, pets and personal safety vulnerable all day by leaving your door open. I had a hilarious and irritating email conversation with their regional manager regarding this issue. I asked him to attach exactly in the lease where it says "we can leave your apartment door open all day", he provided the piece of the lease that discusses building maintenance. Please go ahead and paint your building- as long as my door stays shut, closed and locked. I even took it upon myself to do his job and suggest alternate options seeing as management is not able to have any kind of critical thinking for themselves. I am still a bit concerned that corporate did not even know their own lease...and Michigan laws protecting residents against such ridiculous requests. 11. 08/03: I come home to find a completely flooded apartment. Hallway and bedroom are just trashed. The smell of chemicals and animal urine is so strong from the carpet that I am not even able to sleep in the room. My husband and I have been sleeping in the living on the floor. I reached out to management and they did not even respond. Many of my things are not salvageable. This flood was caused by management and property manager not performing regular maintenance on the building. Which is surprising because they were just SO concerned about painting the door. read more

Only giving it one star because of the location and because we got lucky and had awesome neighbors (that's obviously not a guarantee). We had a horrible time dealing with anyone, whether it would be maintenance or management. You're told one thing but expect another. And when you leave, don't expect to get a deposit back. If you do, it's a solid $20 at most. A lot of my neighbors that I keep in contact with ended up PAYING THEM. They will find an issue whether or not you think you fixed the problem. You're paying the $800+/mo for a pretty exterior. Security is null and void. Lots of car break ins and stolen tires. The list goes on. Spare yourself and check out some other places. read more

I love living here! The location is perfect, my neighbors are nice, and the view with wildlife makes me so happy. I've had a few minor issues over the years, but everything is always handled quickly. The office staff is wonderful and the gym equipment is good quality. Most importantly, though, is that I feel completely safe living here alone. I've only lived at these apartments for 3 months and I've had maintenance come by at least 5 times now. there always seems to be something wrong and I always find myself speaking to the answering machine more than I can get ahold of a real person, or even a call back. I haven't had a screen door on the track for 2 months without any updates on when I will get one, and they won't fix my drying machine even though they have the part we need, and "24-hour on site maintenance". of course there's more to it but wish I could do my laundry and open my door wall but I guess I'll wait another 2 months. I'm very displeased with my experiences. customer service with Lilly is nice but I wish there's more they could do for me. read more

They are terrible! They discriminate against handicap tenants. I have a special needs, wheelchair bound child, and when I was shopping apartments, the Northport sales person promised me that the handicap accessible pathway would be maintained for my daughter without issue. There are 2 entries for the first floor units; the parking lot entry and the pond side entry. The ONLY way to get a wheelchair into the units, is through the pond side entry. I was promised!! that this entry way would be kept clear in the winter months for my child to safely exit and enter my unit. This past winter, I was forced to manually shovel a path from the pond side entry to the parking lot 5 times. This path is at least a 1/8 of a mile. The manager, continually, admittedly apologized and kept promising that it would not happen again. That the maintenance was told to clear a pathway for my handicap child. Yet, 5 times I had to shovel myself. When I confronted the Main Offices of Edward Rose, I was told that no such promise was documented and therefore not of a concern to them. This business goes against the Disabled Housing Renters Rights Act. I want it documented with the BBA and the ADA agencies. read more

Called my lawyer just now because AC has been out for two days (high temperatures). Someone came to "fix" it and left a note saying they do not have the proper material to charge the AC. Temperature outside is 90 degrees. I guess we'll see what my lawyer has to say about my personal rights and if I can hire an outside person to fix it and deduct it from the rent. FIRST REVIEW: Let me tell you about my experience and I HAVE NOT EVEN MOVED IN YET! This place is unfortunately very unprofessional and unorganized. First-We were told that we would be able to move in 2 months, once we were placed on the waitlist. Nope. Not the case. Two months came and went and then they had an apartment for us AND another TWO MONTHS to wait to move in. Our move in date was established. ONE day before the designated move in they called and told me TWO more weeks. I have never been so disappointed and irritated with a business before, especially a business that handles people's living situations. Hopefully once we actually get to move in, I won't be on here writing ANOTHER negative review. I'm hoping the BS is gone upon move in, assuming that ever happens SECOND REVIEW: Alright, so unfortunately I'm back on here and all moved into the most disorganized and disrespectful apartment complex I have ever encountered. Since we put our security deposit down for a one bedroom it was $400, BUT they bullied us into a two bedroom they said that the $400 would be fine instead of the $500 is usually is for a two bedroom. I contacted the property manager in the hopes of getting everything straightened out in regards to the one bedroom. He magically found a one bedroom that was available after all of the hell they put us through, the issue was it was the 3rd floor. So, we negotiated with him about the two bedroom and he said he would take $100 off for the first month if we decided on the two bedroom. SO, the manager came back and gave us the SAME paperwork with the $400 security deposit and told us that the $100 off was in regards to not paying the other $100 for the security deposit for the two bedroom. Even though this was discussed the day prior that we would not be charged another $100 for their screw ups. This place is a joke. Our paperwork even says that our move in date is 08/25/2016 and the end date is 08/24/2016. Negative one day. Explain to me how that one works. First night, AC didn't work either. House yourselves ANYWHERE else. This place is POORLY run. read more

Theft here seems to be an ongoing issue yet the management does nothing to address the problem. Edited to meet Yelp length requirements- Location- When I started living here my drive down M-59 to get to I-75 and head north to my job in Auburn Hills was quite reasonable. I could leave at 7:30a.m. and make it there on time with minimal issues. Now it seems that the traffic and drive times have increased exponentially in the past year. I now find myself having to leave a full hour early if I want to try to make it to work on time. If you are heading from here to a job in Detroit I wish you luck. The general area is great and the apartments are in a nice location. Shopping is close by and Movie Theaters are close for movie buffs like myself. There are several gyms close by if you prefer them to the onsite facilities. The apartment: Me and my roommate rented a "Two Bedroom One Bath CT Split" on the second floor for the duration of our stay. While not "ultra modern" in terms of how it looks the layout/paint/carpet and appliances I would date at about the mid-late 1990's in terms of looks and feel. The fridge and stove I would date later than that. Maintenance- Both good and bad experiences here. While we rarely needed to utilize their services, in the one major time we needed them I feel that they dropped the ball quite big. In 2014 the summer was cool so we tried to leave our patio door open as much as possible to save on electricity costs from running the A/C, and just leave the screen door closed. Well turns out some bees thought that a small hole above our patio door would be a great place to nest. This normally would be a small problem except due to a gap in the wall/floor they were actually coming INTO the apartment. My roommate is allergic to bees and I reported the problem to the Front Desk staff and closed the patio door. One week later, and still no word on a fix time. So I put in another work order with the Front Desk staff. One more week later and still nothing. It wasn't until the 3rd week and me taking a Ziploc bag of dead bees into the Front Desk office that I was able to get an actual fix date and an exterminator called out. I would have thought that the fact that we had bees coming into our apartment plus possible allergic reaction would have gotten this resolved sooner but it wasn't to be. For smaller problems I have had no real issues and normal response times are very good. I was just shocked that it took 3+ weeks to take care of a serious health issue like that. Landscaping- Buy/Bring your own shovel for winter and be ready to dig your car out, and the walkways if you work in the early morning. Even if you get a carport, you will still get plowed in. They do not heavily salt any of the walkways or put down salt for the parking area which can make areas quite slippery and unsafe. Grass is kept looking nice, however since there are lakes on the property there is Goose and Duck poop everywhere. Bushes need to be trimmed as well at the time that I am writing this as they look overgrown. You will have the random tenant that doesn't care and puts garbage somewhere but normally that is quickly taken care of. Noise- Do not know why this is not included on most sites but it is important to me so I will include it here. FOR ANYONE LOOKING AT THE "Two Bedroom One Bath CT Split" UNITS PLEASE READ: One of the Bedrooms is sandwiched in between two living rooms. I will also say this; There is no soundproofing. I could hear everything going on in the neighbor's living room, and my own, and you can hear the people above you too. You can call maintenance so they have a record of a noise complaint, but they won't deal with the tenant directly. So you will have to call the police to have them come out and shut down any late night parties or keggers. I had both numbers recorded in my phone speed dial after the second time I had to call. Incidentals- Your only option for cable at this facility is AT&T and their max Internet speed is 25MBps for the complex. Our bill for their U300 service tended to jump around a LOT but it was normally about $125ish per month. Electricity would run about $50 during the months we didn't run A/C. It would jump to close to $80 if we kept the A/C unit at about 76 degrees. I blame this on; the forced air setup, the fact that there seems to be little to no insulation in the apartment, and single pane windows that leak heat and cold air like no other. I had to get a space heater for my room in the winter because it would drop to below 60 degrees in my room (even with winter window treatments installed) while her room would be toasty due to it being closer to the control panel. Thermostat is NOT programmable to account for when you are not home which just seems like a silly thing to not have in 2015. I will say this, they have an amazing water heater set-up and I was almost never without hot water even after my roommate would take showers there was always plenty of hot water. read more

My husband was stationed in Washington State and I was given less than a month to find new housing for our family of 4. This included a toddler and a preschooler. From my initial contact over the phone, to my whirlwind 2 day visit to Michigan, I found our new home. The staff not only promoted the amenities of the complex, they directed me to local shopping, schools and nearby churches. A blessed new home and a blessing of new friends. read more

As far as apartments go for less than $900 a month; Northport is one of my favorites on the Eastside. I am a serial mover, grew up that way and can't seem to shake it. The office staff at the time was typical, if you lived in one apartment, you lived in a bunch of them. They had some rules that were annoying at the time, but in my search and life expereince...they all have dumb ass rules, and at least one is bound to really chap your ass. I lived in an upgraded third level cathedral apartment, a 2 bed and 1 bath. The living room area is huge and I loved the huge window, that is until the sun started shining and heating up the place. Your balcony overlooks a cute little man-made pond (which my BF fished in hahaha), a refreshing change from your typical parking lot views from apt balconies. The rooms are a bit on the smaller side, and no WIC but there is a large utility room with full size washer and dryers in your unit. I lived here in a big, rowdy, party stage of my life 20-23 and had no complaints or problems entertaining (ample parking and large living room). The club house has a smaller fitness center, nothing too extensive, but not bad and it was 24 hours, the pool is nice too but can get a bit on the crowded side. It is still to date the longest I have lived somewhere and think..."for an apartment...it's not too bad". read more

One the worst experiences ever. Once i informed them that i was moving out, they started coming up with different charges, including some fees that were previously waved 5 years ago. September 2016 i signed a 6 month lease only to find out it didn't go through 3 months later. I was being back charged a month to month fee for each month i was living there 'till i left. They retain my security deposit , around $500, because they had to paint twice and there were some scratches on the counter top ( i didn't know i was not supposed to use them) Two months after i left the place they keep calling me to ask for money, threatening me they will sent me to collection. I lived there for 7 years, they just remembered i own them $120,after 5 years...... it doesn't add up. read more
