This response of the business owner is flimsy, not addressing the worst complaints such as UNCONTROLLED CURRY FUMES, entrapping lease contracts, and loud noise from i-75 (despite new barriers installed, you won't get much sleep with the 1970s original metal-frame windows, which leak profusely during winter!)
The moment we finally escaped these apartments I had tears of joy. Now, we live in a clean beautiful home, in peace and quiet -- no longer subject to loud main door SLAMS at all hours of the night, creaky main stair noises, or being greeted by rusty bikes and plastic toys strewn around the property! Management sends threatening notes to residents to pick up their outdoor belongings, but it doesn't last long! Thereafter, residents slowly trash the balconies and grassy areas, leave old bikes on the racks for 6-12 months before they're removed!
Our unfortunate 5 year tenure was due to repeated and forced FULL TERM lease renewals! This caused our family to lose out on SEVERAL HARD TO FIND IN TROY home purchase deals, lest we forked over $6,000-8,000 to Paragon Properties get out of one of them! (Yet, we could only physically remain in the apartment for 1.5 months of the remaining lease, what a total scam!) Might as well open a window and toss cash into the wind! Other apartments allow ALL residents to go month-to-month! It's PREDATORY!
The relatively minor issues of packages and laundry cards being addressed 5 years after consistent resident complaints comes a bit late, does it not?
Why weren't dumpsters emptied in a reasonable fashion 2x per week? They're overflowed since 2016!
Why weren't the residents causing horrible curry smells asked to stop the activity for 6 months after daily complaints? ******Note: The curry fumes are still ongoing as reported by former neighbors still STUCK there; this will never stop. The smells are simply embedded into the units and the hallways.*****
Why is the rent rate for a renovated unit not much more than an outdated unit? The value of the rent for what you get here is simply not there. There are much nicer properties at reasonable prices. Hold out and DO NOT rent here!
The "like it or leave it" is a joke! THNK VERY CAREFULLY BEFORE YOU BOTHER APPLYING HERE! Why would anyone want to pull their credit, sit on a waiting list, make life changing living arrangements to move into an apartment, simply to walk away from singing the lease once the unit becomes available and it's NOT THE UNIT PROMISED!? Especially during a housing shortage!? Paragon properties knows VERY well that folks are on 3-6 month long waiting lists; this "like it or leave it" policy looks good on paper, but Paragon Properties knows they've got potential renters backed into a corner. Good luck finding another apartment around here ON SHORT NOTICE in the event you dislike whichever worn-down unit you get assigned. (Hint: Most of the renovated units get immediately occupied by long-term retirees that have lived at "Prison Oaks" for 20+ years. I wasn't even allowed to move into a renovated unit during our stay even between forced lease signings! This is likely due to my consistent, warranted maintenance and smell complaints!) read more
