Tonight was my first time trying North shore Empress. We ordered eggrolls for an appetizer, and a bowl of egg drop soup. They both came out with our drink's (ice tea) The Eggrolls we're good. The egg drop soup was orange! I've never seen so much corn starch added before. It was ok at best. We ordered Mandarin Chicken and Lemon Chicken. Both were very good. Undoubtedly the best Chinese on the northshore. I love the empress chicken; slightly spicy and totally delicious. The honey chicken is really great, too. Every time that we have been here the service has been on point and we've never waited too long for our food. I would recommend this place over ANY other restaurant on the northshore if you're seeking Chinese. I know it's a little pricer, but you are certainly getting what you pay for. read more

So, there seems to be a number of early Vietnamese restaurants closing early in the Covington and Mandeville area, even on a Saturday night. I'm glad to say this restaurant remedies this issue and does so while offering Chinese dishes as well. To be honest, I was only interested in the Chicken Pho (Pho Ga) and in particular eating it after 7:30 p.m. but it was pretty good and while I can only speak towards the one dish called Pho Ga, I will add the atmosphere was enjoyable:) read more

Best Chinese on The Northshore! Shrimp Fried Rice is to die for and their Egg Drop Soup, just delicious! The owners are soooo sweet as well! I went to pick up a to-go order and they kindly let me try a little sample of their Hot and Sour Soup! I wish I didn't have stomach issues and could handle spicy foods like I used to because this soup was sooooooo freaking good! They have several other soups that aren't on the typical Chinese menu that I would like to try soon too! Their food is consistently good and dining in is always a treat! The inside is sooo pretty! Hard to find a bad thing to say about them. Maybe that it is super crowded most of the time, so get there early? The Vietnamese dishes are all excellent. Best pho that I have had. Love the First Asian Soup. It is jam packed with veggies and meats. The bowl is huge, so I get two meals out of it. The Triple Dragon is great. We get it with brown sauce instead of white. I just read a review from Krystal W. I just want to say a couple things. The food is usually good but the staff in general is very unfriendly. My wife and I know the owner Tony from her sister Michelle who lives in Metairie and used to eat at Tony's restaurant when they were in Metairie. We have been there many times and have experienced the same waitress's attitude and downright rudeness on several occasions. I'm not 100% but I believe its the owner's wife. Anyway the last time we ate there i refused to eat in the section she was serving. My wife was already at the table when I realized the owner's wife was serving that area so I called my wife over so we could go eat on the other side to be served by someone else. The receptionist/hostess must realized why I did that and was extremely rude pretty much the same as the owner's wife. AND the reason I did that was because the last two prior times we got stuck with the owner's wife and she was exactly as described by Krystal so I told my wife and she agreed that we would never eat there if she was our waitress so on this occasion I chose to sit where she wasn't serving. We usually pay around $50 for pretty good food I might say but too many good restaurants to ever put up with this sort of behavior, totally uncalled for!! And lastly on one other occasion we didn't get fortune cookies. We had a to go bag with some leftovers so we looked in for the fortune cookies but none. So when the waitress lady came back we asked for 2 fortune cookies and you would have thought I was asking for a bar of gold. She said she put two in the to go bag, we said no you didn't. Instead of taking our word for it she abruptly grabbed the bag and opened it at the table only to confirm that they forgot to include. What's especially ridiculous is this thing cost pennies and so what if she had given us 4 instead of 2 especially in light of how much $$ we have spent there. She's just awful and either needs to find some other employment or stop working. We will consider going back to Northshore Empress BUT we will never accept her as our waitress. As embarrassing as it might be if we are seated and realize she has our table, we will leave!!! read more

This is the absolute worst place to go in Covington. Not only did we have a very rude waitress but the owner came to us and asked " IM GOING TO NEED YOUR HELP AND KEEP YOUR BABY QUIET"..!!!! I have a 1 year old shes not a dog with a muzzle and a shock collar.!. Last I checked this is a restaurant in a public place where people take there family to enjoy a nice sit down meal. Meanwhile all we got was asked to keep out one year old quiet because other people couldn't eat there lunch. Sence when do you use sound to eat lunch. I would not recommend this place to anyone that has babies and under the age of 60 being that is the age of the ones that had something to say about a one year old telling us she wants something off the table. Prices are in line & the quantity is generous (the females in the group always have leftovers for the next day or 2. We were traveling through on I-12 and looking for Chinese food for dinner. We picked this one because of the reviews and close proximity to the Interstate. We made a great choice. The staff is very friendly and attentive. Ordered egg rolls, boneless chicken dinner and mandarin chicken dinner. The egg rolls are big and very tasty. Both of our dinners were delicious and the portions were generous. Took home as much food as we ate. I wish it were closer to home, as we would make it a regular. We tried to eat here on Saturday night 1/26/2019. We ordered 3 soups, an order of egg rolls, and 3 entrees. When the the soups arrived the waitress knocked over my wife's water, which spilled all over her lap. This was an accident, and the waitress was apologetic. My children noticed hair in the wonton strips for the soup. I called the waitress over and she replaced all of the items (soup, egg rolls, and wonton strips). When the fresh items were delivered to the table, my son told me there is hair on his cup of soup. I brought the cup of soup to the bar and spoke to the female behind the bar. The owner was on the phone at the time. I told her to cancel all orders for my table and we left. They were apologetic, but this not how food should be served. read more

This is a rather small restaurant, but all of the tables were filled on this Friday night. We arrived right before it started to get busy (the Friday prior to Valentine's Day). Our waitress, Dawn, had not given us any drink refills, even after we requested them.... The food was VERY bland (I ordered Shrimp and Lobster sauce). The side of "shrimp" fried rice tasted like plain rice... There was seriously ONE shrimp in the rice! I'm not exaggerating. Maybe I didn't order one of their better dishes?
