1st time trying this place; I called in my order and the receptionist was extremely nice and helpful. When I picked up the staff was welcoming. Food was really hot and fresh. I had 3 different dinner combination and crab Rangoon. Fried rice 10/10 Bourbon chicken 8/10 Sesame chicken 6/10 Honey garlic chicken 10/10 Crab Rangoon 3/10- it was just too sweet for me but my husband liked it. My first time going to Northside Asian Kitchen and only because my go to place was closed for vacation. The egg foo young was tasteless and the gravy needed something. Another bit of info. The large containers are VERY SHALLOW so the large portion size is not that much. i would say the large portion would fit in a pint container, so that disappointed me. The customer service here is absolutely AWFUL. I placed an order from the website that was on their Facebook page so I thought it would be no problem. I come to get my food and the women argues with me they have no order for me and almost refused to help me. Finally they magically find my receipt with my order so they begin to make my order after already waiting 20 minutes. 3 people come in behind me and have the same issues. Wish I can give it zero stars .. long story short there was a roach in one of the 2 orders I placed . When I went to get my money back I was accused of putting the roach there myself and told I was only to get refunded for that meal as if I wanted to even touch the other one !! New in town and been looking for my it chinese food spot. WORST Chinese food I had in my life!! I ordered three combos for my family, and we were all disgusted. My boneless spare ribs was slimey like snail mucus and watery, i could only take two bites before i felt my stomach reject the food. I thought mine was just a bad batch, until i tried the pork fried rice with chicken wings which had HAIR and a pungent Parmesan cheese flavor. Being reasonably upset i called the restaurant and it took them a day to call back. they gave no solutions, and said "if you want anything done for you, you must return the food" implying THEY WANTED ME TO FISH OUT THE DAY OLD CHINESE FOOD FROM THE TRASH to even get a discount. The manager was rude over the phone and told me this was their first complaint about their food. However, a quick look through the reviews tells otherwise. It was a terrible experience and would not recommend this food to my worst enemy. I wasted 35 dollars to get the same enjoyment as having a homeless man spit in my mouth. This is by far the best Asian food in Lakeland! The service was friendly and fast. A bonus is they deliver food very fast. For starters, if you love the Chinese food available in the Lake Miriam publix, this is the same! This is their first standalone location! Same amazing bourbon chicken, and the freshest egg rolls. So glad I passed up the place down the block with the terrible reviews, I'm stuffed and this was amazing. Staff was so friendly and very passionate and knowledgable. Fountain drinks are only $0.69! Clean restaurant, great marketing photos. Clean restrooms, too! Gave 5 stars 6 months ago, but this is my updated review: New owners. Now it's like all the other shitty restaurants that seem like they're probably dirty and the food is super dry. They also raised their prices, and they "expanded the menu" it's a basic Chinese food restaurant menu. I give the one star cause that's the lowest it'll go. Got some food here last night, was just ok. 2 entree and fried rice combo, comes w eggroll. The bourbon chicken was good. The fried rice was good. I usually like places that don't use yellow rice & call it fried rice. The pepper steak(?) not so good. Couldn't even tell if it really was beef. And why is the sauce reddish? Anyway, the girl was friendly. The tables my uncle & I sat at while we waited for my to go order were smeared with a greasy clearly visible film. No one else was in there. This was my first time ordering from this restaurant. I asked the girl how the food here was and she just said "ok"! I ordered anyway and was sadly disappointed. The cooks are all Mexican and there is a steel sliding door so you can't see the food being prepared. When I order from a Chinese restaurant I would like to be able to see them cooking my food. We ordered the general tso's chicken which was okay and they beef lo mein which was basically like Mexican spaghetti. I will definitely take my business elsewhere don't waste your money here! I am new to Lakeland and tried this restaurant as soon as I moved here upon seeing their menu I will immediately say that I have been using them at least once a week sometimes twice a week for approximately three months and had no complaints however this is Major! I ordered food and had someone eating that cannot because of allergic reasons eat onions and was very specific to the lady on the phone when I place the order and said multiple times no onions she confirmed it we even kind of had a laugh about it because she told me she would put it really big on the ticket no one could possibly miss it will they missed it the person allergic to onions was eating dinner and fit into a giant onion as we poked through the food we found onions all through it and the reason why it was all over the pork fried rice which naturally we kind of sprinkled on our plates amongst our entrees so now all of our food was covered in pork fried rice with onions I immediately called the restaurant they admit it and agree to their mistake did not apologize however but did agree to the mistake and reluctantly said they were going to credit me those meals call back another time when I wanted them they offered to send them out immediately but we could not stay and wait for food to be sent back out as we had commitments to be somewhere else I told them that they said no problem just call the restaurant back when I want to use those credits for those meals no problem I did that several days later a lady by the name of Sandra told me that I was calling too late in the day and they could not take care of those meals I explain to her I was going to order other food in addition to that and she said that because they were lunch items that it was after lunch hour and she could not enter it in the computer they could not cook those meals which were shrimp with lobster sauce and moo goo gai pan I told her I didn't understand that but I followed her instructions and I waited a few days and called back before 3 she got on the phone and was very rude to me and made the claim that I am a person that called the health department on her restaurant and complained about hair in the food well LOL that must have been someone else that had that problem because I did not have that problem I had onions in my food quite different than hair so obviously they have a lot of issues going on there she was extremely rude to me and started telling me that she's going to do me a favor and credit those two meals but normally she wouldn't give a credit because only the rice have the onions I tried to explain to her that when you put rice and sprinkle it on the plate with onions in it basically now all the food has been exposed to the other food with the onions it is now cross-contaminated I know all about this I have a food handler's license and a culinary degree I explained this to her she didn't know what to say she then said okay well will credit you those meals but you're going to have to pay delivery fees etc etc because we're not going to send out these meals and pay the driver to bring them to you I started laughing what an insult talking about insult upon injury oh my gosh she was doing everything she could to make me unhappy I started laughing at her and told her I was getting ready to order literally over $100 worth of additional food cuz I have a roofing company redoing my roof as we speak and I was going to buy food for them as they worked well I told her that and then she's completely changed her her attitude active sweet said the delivery fee would be no problem and go ahead with my order well LMAO I told her that would be necessary that she's lost my business forever she needs to learn how to treat customers and try to make them happy when her restaurant makes a huge mistake and I am as we speak killing time by writing this long review because I'm waiting for $143.78 order from her main competitor cuz I still bought Chinese food just not from here get it together Northside Asian Kitchen I was brand-new in Lakeland and you took a brand new customer using you for 3 to 4 months and force me to go to your competitor read more

Food is great, but that doesn't make up for rude, unprofessional staff. Blame was passed around and no one can seem to take responsibility for "misinformation". First off...the place is clean and very inviting. The smiling, lively woman behind the counter was very happy to immediately let us have samples and explain to us the meal options. The food was hot and the made to order chicken and broccoli came out fast. We were in and out very quickly with amazing customer service. Most importantly, the food was amazing! We have been a couple of times. Never again. We ordered pick up to stay safe with the virus. The woman taking my order told me about 35 minutes. Well it takes us 30 minutes to get there, so we left shortly after the call. Arrived and went in to pay and check up on order. She took my card and charged it, and told me about 5 minutes. Nope! It was really 35 minutes of waiting outside with ALOT of other people who were waiting. Finally get the food and go home. This was not even like Chinese food! It was horrible! Out of all soup except one so I ordered that. It was house special. It was TERRIBLE. Tasted like dishwater with some meat and veggies in it. Ordered Dragon and Phoenix. Supposed to be Kung Pao chicken with shrimp also. Got a container of deep fried, battered chicken in a tasteless sauce, and another container with some peas and carrots and shrimp in what looked like sweet and sour sauce, but the sauce wasn't even that good! It was sweet and terrible and it didn't go with the chicken at all. Overall, it was just a train wreck. They are really busy because of the virus. When I went in to actually get the order, I heard the girl telling people on the phone it would be about an hour before their food was ready. Sorry, I wouldn't wait 5 minutes for this. Just not worth it. We will be looking for a new Chinese restaurant in Lakeland, truly anything would be better than this place. read more
