This was my second time at Northside Kitchenette. I had the breakfast sandwich with turkey sausage. It had a great flavor but it was cold, as were my potatoes. The service my family and I received was unsatisfactory. It took the waitress a long time to acknowledge our table and get our drink order. There were 2 couples around us that ended up leaving because she was taking a long time for the most simple requests. She took all 8 of our orders without writing anything down, and then had to come back to clarify 2 peoples' orders. If I go back, I will wait in order to not be in her section. read more

After seeing this place show up so high on several review sites we were excited to a check it out. It did not disappoint, but it was a little tricky to find. Basically, it's hidden in plain sight - along College Avenue. It is tucked in the corner of a small strip mall. Look for "Northside Social" signs, then turn in there. They do all-day-breakfast and afternoon-lunch, and breakfast was on our minds today. We really enjoyed everything, but here is the run-down. The bacon, was very good, crispy and smokey. Very good biscuits and gravy. We liked the seasoning and just (barely) enough sausage. The Cheesy Bacon Love Omelette is pretty good. A little different, but in a good way. Next time I would get it without the potatoes- they were big chunks and didn't add much. Since it is served with breakfast potatoes just pick up a few of those. By themselves the potatoes are good and have a very nice seasoning. The sausage links were ok. The orange juice was so-so. I like mine with a little pulp, and it seemed a little off on the flavor. My wife thought maybe they used a non-traditional type of orange or a tangerine. My wife had the Kitchenette sink, deconstructed with biscuits and gravy on the side and really liked it. I had thick slices of whole wheat toast. The bread was good by itself, but very good with the fresh strawberry preserves. Good coffee. Our server was Sandra, and she was very good and took good care of us, until... we were ready to leave. It took awhile to get the bill and then took so long for her to pick it up, another server saw it sitting and picked it up to run the card. The interior was nice and friendly. Very clean, with bare concrete floors and open beam ceilings. Other than four stools at the counter, all the tables have unpadded metal chairs (surprisingly comfortable) at tables with white plastic tops. We really enjoyed it, and lunch items going past us looked good too. So I think we'll be back. read more

I absolutely LOVE coming here!! The menu has a nice variety from brioche French toast, omelets, to avocado toast and adult grilled cheese. Selection of soups that change daily as well aas specials too! Staff is always polite. Our Sunday go too! read more

Nice little spot with great lighting. First time I went I got the eggs benedict and it was really good. Second time I got the regular breakfast and potatoes still good. So they are consistently providing good food and service. I would recommend for a good and satisfying brunch. Mimosas are on point as well. read more

This is a fabulous find. Nestled in the corner of a popular bar, this is a cosy family-friendly restaurant. It has an excellent menu with something for everyone. We had their salads. They were sumptuous and had plenty of nutrition nestled in the leaves of Kale! This place is highly recommended. They take great care in making their food and their ambience is fabulous with an elegant verandah that gives it a warm outdoorsy feel on a snowing cloudy day. I read the review and seems that Northside Kitchenette has a solid Cuban sandwich. So here I come, 3rd stop for my Cuban Sandwich trip! (If you are interested in following me along, the 2 before are Taste of Havana and Pia urban cafe & market so far. AND stay tuned : ) Here is the description on menu: House roasted pork, black forest ham, swiss cheese, dill pickles and our secret mustard sauce on our signature, fresh baked Cuban bread First of all, the bread is quite good! It is a brioche-style, sweet and enriched bread which was grilled on a generously buttered skillet. Crispy crust with soft and moist crumb, Big thumbs up! Then, the pork and ham were ok, no Wow factor there. Same as the Taste of Havana's problem, simply too bland and lack of flavor....Although I can see the golden char on the pork slice, still, I think I like Pia's meet part more. Thirdly, I think there is no mustard flavor in the so-called "secret mustard sauce". Just taste like mayo. I guess it is too secret.... Overall, it is a good sandwich, but not really Cuban to me. It's kind of weird that it smells like Big Mac to me especially the pickle with mayo and sweet bread. Or, another possibility is the butter or oil they used is the same "industrialized" grease? No idea... Last but not least, the savory and sweet balance I always seek. Here, the only obvious sweet factor is the bread which is fine, but I still like to see the incorporation of some sweet facets on the inside. Head to the next Cuban place! Yay~~ read more

This is the type of place when you think of a cute café, perfect for a summer brunch. With a garden themed covered outdoors area strung with lights and your choice of mimosas, bloodies or beer this is a great place to stop. Service was great and it was adequately priced for a brunch spot. The reason for the 4 stars is that I was not a fan of my meal. I got an omelet and it was cold and there was hardly any cheese. I did however try the kitchenette sink and that was amazing! That's definitely the thing to check out on the menu read more

Negative experience from start to finish. We were told the wait was 10-15 minutes for 2 people and asked to go sit in the "nook" area, which is a separate building. As we waited there, looking out the window, multiple groups walked in and were sat immediately (maybe they had reservations.. maybe not). After 18 minutes, We walked back into the restaurant and were clearly in the way of wait staff. There were multiple empty tables and we were sat immediately, so obviously the hostess forgot we were over in the "nook". We waited for quite a while before our drink order was taken ($10 for a champagne drink) and placed our order. Food was below average. Check came, $70 for 2 people to eat a mediocre breakfast is insane. After waitress dropped off the check, it took her 10 minutes to come back to actually run our cards. Will not return. read more

Loved having lunch here. The portobello mushroom soup was delicious and the kale salad had so much flavor, it made your tongue dance with feta, sundries tomatoes and roasted peppers! The decor was nice with white clean lines. It was busy and service was great! read more

Stopped in for breakfast and had 1/2 order of French toast & 1/2 order of Biscuits & Gravy. French Toast was thick and fluffy, didn't care for the butter they put on top but didn't detract from the toast. Biscuits and Gravy was THE BEST I've ever had. Practically licked the plate clean. I must say, I hesitated to write this review, because I don't want everyone finding out about this amazing place and it getting too busy. But, Indy folk, you need to go here. We picked this brunch spot somewhat at random, and couldn't have been happier with both the food and service. The breakfast potatoes are amazing- a must have with any brunch. I had an omelette with portobello mushrooms, kalmatta olives, spinach, and cheddar and it was fabulous. What a delicious mix of flavors! Others in our group had omelettes, and all were cooked perfectly and everyone was thrilled with their orders. It's a delightful little spot- open, bright, and great service. A business associate brought me here once for a casual meeting and since then I've kept this place in mind for late lunches that I want to be special, but not overwhelming. Northside Kitchenette's staff has the feel of serious foodies who know better than to be obnoxious. The menu shows care and expertise without ostentation. As others have said, the Cuban sandwich here beats any other I've had in Indianapolis. It has to do with the mustard sauce and the Cuban bread they have specially baked for them. For those of us who eat pork, you cannot go wrong. Whatever else you have, have the mushroom soup, too. Any place that offers breakfast whenever their doors are open clearly has their priorities straight. I may be past the time of my life when I wake up at 1 pm and need an omelette, but I sometimes want one anyway. The service is knowledgable and attentive. Patrons are polite. Thanks to my Yelp friends Reggie L. and Jon A., I had wanted to try this place for several weeks...one thing or another always thwarted my plans. Well today, after a 10 mile urban hike around the towpath and Broad Ripple area, I called in an order to go so that I could go join my daughter and SIL for lunch at their house. I ordered the Roast Beef on Ciabatta for the SIL, the AK's Cheese on Whole Wheat for the daughter, and I had the Grilled 4 Cheese on Sour Dough. All were very good and I gobbled up my grilled cheese sandwich like there was no tomorrow...along with the very yummy homemade potato chips and pickle! The guy who took my order over the phone was the owner. Such a pleasant guy and seemed so down to Earth. I would really have rather eaten lunch there since he makes everyone feel very welcome, and next time I will. Open Monday-Saturday...if you haven't given the Northside Kitchenette a try yet...do yourself a favor and go! I can't wait to try some of their soups. read more

I normally do not write reviews but after my experience today at Northside Kitchenette I feel the need to share this terrible experience. Mediocre food, potatoes were not seasoned and over cooked. Terrible service and after my conversation with the manager, even worst management. They don't care about your dining experience. They really have no pride in their food or customer service. read more

I tried Kitchenette for lunch and couldn't resist the allure of the salmon sandwich. It was cooked perfectly - was a good size for lunch and was served on a baguette that had a nice texture for a sandwich; fresh and just slightly chewy which held the sandwich together nicely. It came with excellent field greens and a dill remoulade that was a little too light, it could have used a little more or some on the side. The menu mentioned it having swiss cheese but I didn't see it on my sandwich unless it melted into the salmon going undetected. Sandwiches come with some amazingly great home made chips but you can upgrade to fries or fruit if you want. I highly recommend the citrus green tea for your beverage choice - I couldn't get enough of that lovely stuff! The wait staff was attentive - we seemed to have two servers, I wasn't sure if they were playing zone offense or maybe they both though they had our table but we were well taken care of. Check out this place when you get a chance - it's only open for breakfast and lunch so plan accordingly! read more

Hubs and I went for breakfast a while ago and loved it! We walked in around 9:00am on a Saturday and there was only 2 other people in the entire restaurant. The service was very friendly and prompt, the prices were good, and the food was excellent! Hubs is very picky about his sausage gravy and he loved it! He didn't even put Sriracha on his meal, which is a huge compliment coming from him! I had a wonderful omelet that is making my mouth water as I write this review. It was very cheesy, had bacon, shallots, and potatoes in it, and just made me happy! I will definitely be back here for breakfast! The perfect Broad Ripple brunch spot! One thing that is top of mind that sets Northside Kitchenette apart is the availability and ease of parking - no meters or street parking to deal with. Would highly recommend for breakfast, brunch or lunch. You cannot go wrong with the biscuits and gravy on the weekends. I also love the Morning Kicker omelette. To be honest, I have always been a little disappointed with the options for the CYO omelettes - definitely feel there could be more of a variety there. As far as lunch goes, they have a number of really good salads and I love the Southwest Chicken wrap. Great if you like a little bit of kick with your meal! Great to sit outside here - so NK is a favorite of mine during the warmer months. Still come year round because of the good food at reasonable brunch prices. This place deserves patronage. Very good menu, diverse, flavorful, but not cluttered. I have always gone with a group and someone typically gets the special, much to their satisfaction. Best breakfast/brunch place in Indy. Tucked away in the corner is the mover and shaker of "The kitcheette sink". By far, the heartiest item on the menu. It's huge. Like huge. Be cool and share it with someone and while you're at it share the French toast. Sweet and savory always wins. So back to the kitchen sink, it's got it all: eggs, potatoes, cheese and whatever else. I love salmon and crab cake Benedict's. Over my life so far I've probably had over 50 and I can honestly say their salmon Benedict was in my top 5 best, if not top 3. The symphony of flavors (and that sauce!) made me hungrier for more and had me practically licking the plate. Finish off with a cinnamon roll that was just the right amount of sweet. Have had the opportunity to eat at Northside Kitchenette for lunch on three separate occasions in the last few weeks. Each time I was blown away. Really interesting, unexpectedly tasty food each time out. With high quality dishes and prices about the same as you'd spend anywhere else, you can't go wrong. I'll specifically recommend the brisket manhattan (the not-too-rich gravy is insane) and the chicken salad, which has a welcome addition of pancetta that transforms a chicken salad sandwich into something to get excited about. The fries (think the fancy "frites" you see everywhere now, not your standard fry) and house made dill pickles are also great, the latter reason enough to stop in on it's own. read more

Why have I missed this place? It's in my neighborhood. The food was awesome! Wow they have a Hibiscus Mamosa with an edible flower. It was great. I walked in with a friend, and knew we were at the right place when she saw that one of her friends actually work there. The portions are huge. I ordered a cheese bacon omelette which was big enough for two people to share, so we did. This is a definite must for breakfast. Can't wait to go back to try lunch. read more

The portions are ample, and they have quite a variety of breakfast items and lunch options to choose from. Just had breakfast here. Wow! It was fast and delicious. My mom and I had the Kitchen-ette sink. Their gravy is excellent, a little peppery for some though, and the biscuit was soft and fluffy. I would love to eat here again and try something else. My husband had the Italian Wedding Soup. That was also tasty. He ate it all and said the chicken meatball in it was very good.
