I ordered a skylight this summer and was so sad to see that the box was damaged when it arrived. Luckily the skylight was intact, but the screen was badly bent. I notified them and they persisted in tracking down, ordering and sending me a new screen even though Velux did not make that easy. The new screen arrived today. DO NOT USE YOUR CREDIT CARD at this business. My mother paid down on a craftman exterior door for $540 and she kept calling the owner, Jerry. He never returned her 10x phone calls and he sold the door. When she finally reached him on the phone, he lied and said he couldn't reach her but he also her contact information. He denied getting any emails my mother sent...They didn't give her a refund, she had to get the refund through her credit card company. My coworker referred me to this place and I referred my mother, I won't ever shop there again. Bad customer service! Very RUDE! read more

Like Mark B below, I frequent several material salvage places and expect a certain amount of "ick" factor. know that I will need to dig to find treasures and haggle on prices. Today I needed a specific exterior door or two for a very poor friend who built his own house. This place is like a giant garage sale with no prices marked on anything but a few windows and used appliances. This company has enough space and racks to keep their Sh&* organized. But they keep buying more stuff and dumping it in the isles. The place is a train wreck. They gave up on keeping any organization and now it is overwhelmed. I couldn't get to the racks of doors because the isles are filled with crap. Finally after manually moving stacks of doors out of the way, I found something I could use. It was damaged but that's why it's called Salvage. When you need a price, nobody with authority is around. I wasn't going to drag a door up to the front to see what they wanted for an item I couldn't take with me that day. I needed my pickup truck. A nice young employee wandered by so I asked for a price. He couldn't give me one. He spoke into his radio and asked for someone who said he would come over in a minute. We stood there looking at each other. I said, "I don't have the time to stand here waiting. I'll be wandering around the store. Find me when you have a price." I wandered around for 10 minutes. Went back to the isle where my door was. Found no one, Wandered around some more and walked out the front door past 3 likely employees who were yucking it up telling stories. Not one of them said, "do you need a price on anything?" Totally a frustrating place. Can't they put up signs that say "Carpet Squares $1 apiece" or "Tiles 45 cents" or "Old doors in this section $50" or put a tag on stuff!!!! I only hope the owner reads this and realizes that they lose sales if people cant get to the items, don't know a price and don't get service. Organize your damn store and maybe i'll buy some of your junk. Oh and remember it's Salvage when you price it, not gold! read more

Large warehouse filled with all kinds of materials. Fun to browse, a horror to actually try to buy something. Was there for an hour to actually buy windows and doors. Could not find one human on the floor that worked there. There is an office by the front door that 2 guys were in. I asked how to get prices and was told to stand in line where some people were checking out. Waited about 10 minutes while a customer tried to haggle over a $5 item. Their advertised prices will definitely attract the bargain hunter but the experience is certainly not worth the effort. I frequently shop the material surplus on Howell Mill; so very familiar/comfortable in the warehouse environment. However, as far as Northside goes, there's no excuse for such poor customer service and attitude. read more

Leave your bourgeoisie notions of service and order at the door. This place is awesome. That is, it's awesome if you know what you're getting into. It's a salvage store. There's just stuff allover the place. They don't have an aisle for plumbing and another for screw drivers. That's Lowe's or Home Depot. If you go here you'll have to dig through a pile of stuff, turn over old doors. They have a ton of stuff, both new and old. But you'll have to work to find something you can use. As for the employees, I found them to be much more helpful and available than other salvage places. I don't know what the other reviewers were gripping about. I think this place is awesome and will go back again and again to keep checking their disorganized, dirty, disheveled, messy iventory to see what they got it the week before. read more

Had exact experience as others with low reviews I spent over 5000 last two years but last six months just not worth effort. Basically their price is 50% off Home Depot regardless of how screwed up it is. This has not always been the case They use to make adjustments for damages and missing parts or for large quantities. I drove for 45 minutes for a hotwater heater and even called in advance to verify they had what I needed. When I arrived they had one with large dent in it and the drain broke off in it. We had a completely different experience than the two previous reviewers. We frequent all varieties of establishments to find the best deals on the most basic and most unusual items. This is definitely a combination of more organized areas and chaotic stacks of hidden gems. We may enjoy the hunt more than some people but I know many others that really take pride in what a little scavenger hunt can offer. We will be purchasing siding here because the price is great. Although they don't offer delivery which some will find inconvenient, for us this isn't a problem. We explored a little and found a gorgeous stained glass/lead glass window. We weren't looking for this particular type of window but when we found it, it was just perfect and one of a kind. The price we were given was fantastic. You couldn't find a deal like that if you spent years in antique stores searching. I can see how this place may not be for everyone but if you like to wonder around warehouses filtering through random doors, windows, antiques, oddities and other useful and exciting bargains than this may be your place! I love it !!! Our experience with the staff was wonderful. We were greeted immediately and taken to the area we inquired about and they answered all of our questions. We then proceeded to walk around and found many unexpected bargains on things we didn't know we even needed until we saw them. We were offered assistance multiple times during our visit.
