Beware of this company Went in my attic told me I needed a brand new system my 4 yr old system was not working. All it needed was a part as we examined later however Chris told us it would cost more to get to that part than to just get a new unit so we believed him When they demoed out unit found out that part was only 400 $ an easy fix easy to get to and a common problem. First thing before scheduling an appointment was to try and sell me a membership. I have never used this business before. I needed two outdoor faucet bibs that were leaking and three emergency shut off values. First thing they tried to put was a plastic half turn value outside. Why was that an option? Must likely to save a $1.00. Left solder on the floor when finished. Continually tried to sell me water softener system for $9,999. Emailed me 4 invoices, invoice still not connect. $1800 total. Guys were friendly but I don't like being taken advantage of. You see I had him change the outside valve to a regular one instead of plastic. Never again! read more

We bought a new Air Conditioning from them about five or six years ago. Spent quite a bit of money got a service contract with them and then System) is now leaking. They want $1700 just to put a leaks sealer in the temporary seal the leak and recharge air-conditioning but no other Warranty but offered to give me the money toward a full repair or replacement if needed this system is never worked right since we got it. We've had issues with it shortly after called them out last year and they came out and put a temporary fix not happy with the amount of service $1700 is a lot of money to do a temporary fix for a month or two for a system that was spent quite a bit of money on. It's very disappointing to hear a company that can't offer a true reasonable service elite kits are no more than $100 each and the Freon is no more than a couple hundred dollars so apparently they're charging $1500 in labor to do this service for less than an hour of work very sad and disappointing that the industry has gone to this corrupt dishonest this is my mom's house and she's on Social Security and she can't afford $1700 every year or every few months to do a temporary fix on a unit that should be under warranty for a lot more than a few years very sad and disappointed will never deal with this company again read more

I would like to let anyone that needs a heater to buy it from Northstar! They were able to drive up to my cabin in the Ca mountains. Give me a quote and then start working within a few days! I live in another state and Jesus, Adolfo and Daniel took pictures and videos of the progress! This was not an easy project. We were in desperate need of a water heater, ours broke down and our business can not go with out hot water. WE called for someone to come give us a quote, but the lady stated she could not talk to us because we had to be the landlord. I explained it was our business we were leasing and per out lease we are responsible for the water heater and all units AC, Swamp etc for the unit, yet she refused to even set up an appointment to get an estimate. We were so disappointed we were given such a hard time FOR A QUOTE REQUEST. Do not know your protocol, but I am sure the LANDLORDS do not have a say over something that clearly states we are responsible for so why do you insist on speaking to them? We called someone else they were there with in an hour gave us a quote and although pricy the job is done just like that. Some advise, dont be so uptight about providing quotes, I am sure once ppl know what to expect in pricing they will get anyone involved that needs to be for approval. We will never call you again. This company is a joke (and not the funny kind). We called to schedule a diagnostic tune-up. Our A/C is working, we just wanted to make sure it was good before summer hits. We specifically asked them if they can bring stuff to lay on the ground where the attic is since we had just had the carpet cleaned. They showed up, said they needed to go to the attic but they said it will make a mess because they didn't bring anything to put on the ground. By the time we went to find something to put on the ground, they said nevermind, we dont need the attic, you just need a whole new system. They put their crappy stickers on the water heater and the AC, collected their money for doing nothing and they left. Stear clear of this company unless you just enjoy paying for nothing. I am giving 5 stars to Northstar primarily because of their senior technician Rob, who went above and beyond my expectations when diagnosing my furnace repair, and Felipe, who was committed to ensuring my unit was fixed on the scheduled repair date. Rob performed a thorough diagnostic using a multimeter to test my control board and confirm that my gas valve was non-functioning. I expected most experienced technicians would have skipped that step to save them time. He went even further by removing my blower motor and inspecting my entire unit to provide me with a better understanding of the condition of my furnace and AC unit. At the conclusion, he presented me with multiple options. No pressure or judgement at all whichever direction I decided. Whatever price Rob quoted me, I felt he was worth every dollar spent. Felipe ended up performing the actual repair the very next day. Somehow the part they gave him did not fit my unit properly so he drove all the way to LA to pick up the correct part to ensure that my family and I had heat that evening. I expected most businesses would have called it a day and rescheduled the repair. The only suggestion I have is to educate their call center more so that they can better describe the services being offered to build trust at the initial phone interaction. I originally had a "tuneup" scheduled for my furnace and they were unable to describe what tasks the technician would be performing at the tuneup. I wanted to prevent having to pay another company just to come out and tell me everything was okay without actually maintaining my unit. I had a similar experience when calling to schedule my diagnostic. The lady had no clue what tasks or equipment and procedures were going to be used, only that the technician would do everything in his power to determine the issue. Edwin and Juan both did a great job in addressing my AC issue. Edwin came yesterday and did the annual AC maintenance. He was courteous and professional. He discovered a leak and determined it was in the evaporator coil. He showed me the bubbles that developed when dish soap was rubbed over the leak. I appreciated him showing me the problem. I would need a new coil after only 4 years of having this HVAC system, which Northstar installed. While the parts are under manufacturer warranty, the extensive labor to install it was not. Edwin was understanding and sympathetic, and he let me talk to Jack, who was also very professional and understanding. He was able to give me a reduced price on the labor, which is still expensive. Edwin also arranged for the repair to take place. Today Juan arrived on time and replaced the evaporator coil. He was also very courteous and professional. He worked hard for 4 hours, replacing the leaking coil with a new one. Then he tested everything and explained what he did and how the system works (I had asked out of curiosity). He left the area clean and had my house cool before he left. I still think the labor was awfully expensive, but Edwin, Jack, and Juan all treated me kindly and professionally. read more

BEWARE of this company. They take advantage of elderly people and focus on selling new replacement parts instead of taking the time and care to really troubleshoot the problem and resolve it. This past Thursday, our air conditioner went out and because I'm not from the area, I called them to have them come and check it out (my mom purchased their service package where service calls don't cost her anything - another upsell) and without even pulling out any tools and just opening up the furnace the repairman (Chris) told me our motherboard was shot and it would be a 1000 dollars to replace. Then when he went out to the outside unit, he deduced that the compressor was out and needed to be replaced and it would be 7500 to replace that. After several high-pressure sales tactics, I decided to just have him give me a quote (which my mother never received by email), and a serviceman who was recommended by a friend, came over that evening, took out his tools, and tested one part of the unit and identified the capacitor (a $300 repair job) in less than 5 minutes. And he had us up and running again 5 minutes later with a fix that would hold till he was able to get the part. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY FOR YOUR HEATING, COOLING, OR PLUMBING. For the past year and a half, I have had a bad feeling about the service my elderly mother, Virginia, has been getting from this company. Every service call they made was costing her thousands of dollars, and they kept upselling or recommending services she didn't need. Beware beware beware. read more

Chris was our tech for our annual furnace maintenance. He began with our urgent need of a new furnace due to a heavily corroded heating element. That would run between $15,000-$10,000. Although we could go for a refurbishing of the existing at around $4,ooo, but be aware of all the very expensive components that could fail during the process, potentially costing us more. Last option was putting it back but he couldn't put it back together because he wouldn't be able to sleep at night for worrying about us. His nights are fraught with worry for us. read more

Scheduled visit from 9~11am, got a call from them and the driver went to the wrong house, then asked for my address multiple times and wanted me to wait outside to meet him, after another 1 hour still can not find my street, then it is no call no update and I asked dispatcher to reschedule and another 2 hours with no updates. 114 degrees in Ontario today and no AC. Without AC all summer although we just purchased this unit last year. The people here seem kind, and genuine, including the person that sold us the unit. But more transparency at the point of purchase would be helpful for those of us unsure of these systems and how to maintain them. If I was told at the point of purchase to include a surge protector, I would have done it. But coming back a year later and being asked to pay an additional $1k is a lot. I once put a very bad rating on Northstar and would swear under my breath at them whenever I'd spot one of their trucks going by. I would have given a zero rating to them, if possible. I had hired them to not only install a new HVAC system, but to fix a long standing plumbing problem in my bath room. Unfortunately, after they installed the new unit, there was a rattle in the $15,000 HVAC system that none of their technicians could resolve. I gave up after three visits from their experts. The plumber they sent bragged he was the best in the world, but totally botched the job, stole all of Northstar's equipment and left the state with my job half finished. It cost me $12,000 to tear everything out that he did and have another plumber do the job, in addition I had to demo and rebuild my adjacent hot tub room to the cost of $19,000. So why do I give them 5 stars. The answer is simple. After all these year's they called me back to service the unit and VALERIE their employe remembered me and my ordeal. She sent a young man, Daniel, out who FIXED the rattle after spending an hour figuring out the problem. Plus, I realized that the bad plumber probably cost the company more than it cost me and one bad employee doesn't necessarily make the whole company bad. Yes, this company isn't perfect, no company is. But I do give them credit for their tenacity and for trying to make things right. read more

Earlier this week my main panel circuit breaker for my AC unit was constantly tripping after turning on for a few minutes. So I replaced the breaker and everything worked fine. I also had Northstar as my back up plan if that did not fix the issue. I still had Northstar come at the end of the week to check the system and flush things out. As an Engineer and Contract Manager, I enjoy watching and learning about how to check systems and potential repair things. Edwin G. was my tech for the day and was very kind nice and on time. He walked me through his process and showed me the status of my system. At the end of the inspection the unit was working properly but there were somethings that he recommended to look out for. Considering his honesty and the general service that was provided I decided to join their 4 year service and maintenance plan and see how we go from there. But I would recommend them. read more

My A/C unit went out a few days ago. We called them to come out and they came out the same day. I'm not going to lie. The A/C unit installation was a little pricey, but the QUALITY of the work was not only OUTSTANDING but EXCEPTIONAL. Once the install was completed they checked the airflow temperature and they wore shoe coverings when they came inside. They didn't leave until the work was completely finished. I like to tell you about my bad experience I had with Northstar. Back in 2017 owners of Northstar, David and his brother Tommy Garcia, install a complete air conditioning system at my home. Bringing you up to date. I have had problems with my system for the last 7 years. My system will turn on, but when burners turn on, it would automatically shut-off. Northstar send out a technician on 12-20-2021 and the problem the tech says he needed to replace a Vacuum switch. And this not the first time this has happened. For my troubles the tech rewards me with a 1 year Protection Plan. They never came by to inpect my system. So I'll bring you up- to- date. I called on 11-2024 for the same problem. They sent a Northstar technician, Chris to take care of the problem. He tells me and my wife, after his inspection, that he would have to install air return vents in each room. Chris tells, me that it would cost 17000.00, but if I act now, he can reduce the price to 9,700.00, but they need to start the next day, for that price. And Chris said he would need a deposit of 970.00. I felt pressure to sign, so I did give him a credit card for 970.00. That evening, I thought about it, having all these vents on my ceiling. Never seen that at other homes. I called Chris, that evening explaining that there's something wrong about having all these vents. And told him I would like to cancel the job. Chris said that's fine but we are keeping my deposit of 970.00. I Explain to Chris that Northstar installed the system. He kept on saying that's fine, but we are keeping your deposit. I call the owner's brothers,Tommy I explain my situation. Tommy said that he would send his Field Supervisor, Frank V. to inspect my system. Frank, comes over the next couple of days. Nice gentleman he place work mat to protect my entryway floor and put his booties on and introduced himself as Frank. He knows the situation, and starts doing his inpection. He tells us, that you have flow restrictions coming from your main air flow intake (32"x15") is too small. Frank said it's collapsing your main intake ducting. I told him that Northstar put this unit in. He ask a question to me, did they just use the existing main intake in the hallway? I said no Northstar installed the main intake. I ask Frank were do we go from here? He said let me make a call, he step out. When Frank came back, he said he talk to Tommy and Tommy told him to tell me, they will replace the small one for a larger one for 970.00. (my deposit). I told Frank, that that's not going to happen. Northstar would have RECTIFY the problem that Iam having with, flow restrictions. It's also, putting a STRAIN on my whole system. I said to Frank what about my 970.00? Frank said he will work on that for me. So, days go by, so I call Northstar about returning my 970.00. Frank called me to let me know, that he got my deposit back of 970.00. I said thank you for doing that for us. But we still have the problem what's happening with that. He said that's all he can do for me. I was a bit confused, so I called the owner DAVID GARCIA of Northstar. I explain to him my situation and he told me there's is nothing else he can do for me David said from Northstar Air Conditioning, that he has sent out so many of his technician out to my house, there are too many hours put into this situation, "THAT HE'S NOT INTERESTED" I said I'll take this up with Northstar corporate, he laugh and said I am corporate. And said good bye. I WAS SHOCK! I really don't know were to turn, but it's not over, yet! So all in all they are not willing to fix there error, and want us to pay! Remember it was a whole new installation with Northstar they drew the specs for this install not us. read more
