Had a bad experience with Harbor Freight today.  Purchased 2 motorcycle chocks in Urbana, IL on Jan…read more25, 2017.  I needed to transport 2 motorcycles, one larger than the other.  The first chock I installed would not work on the larger bike so I used it for the smaller.  I then had to purchase a different chock for the larger bike.  A couple of weeks later I am back in Virginia and want to return the unopened 2nd chock for store credit at the Christiansburg Harbor Freight store (store number 625).  I went through numerous conversations with the two stores (Christiansburg and Urbana).  In the end, even though I have the record of the purchase on my credit card and the box is unopened, the Christiansburg store would not issue me a store credit for a return.  Further, when I look at their website to see if another remedy for this matter exists I found the following statement under returns and exchanges.  Item 8.  The manager has the right to refuse returns of any item, at any time, for any reason.  You would never see this at Lowe's, Home Depot, Walmart, etc.  Let the buyer beware.  I will never purchase another item from Harbor Freight. The paint did not match as one can was a darker brown than the other. Brought both cans back to Lowe's. Lowe's refused to refund the can that was already used because it was empty. Just exactly how do you think spray paint is used? Should we automatically assume the paint does not match and use a little bit from both cans to start? This suggestion from Lowe's is asinine and reflects the knowledge base of the customers service personnel.

The two gentlemen that assisted me with my purchase went above and beyond. They knew I was going to install them on my pier 250 miles away so they were very meticulous when rounding up all the parts needed. They were very friendly and courteous I'm a DIY kind of guy so I have a lot of experience with hardware stores but not one of them could hold a candle to the customer service I received at this store. My mother-in-law took her Stihl blower in to have the primer bulb replaced. That was all it needed. That was all she wanted done. What they did to her blower was criminal. Not only did they not replace the primer bulb as she had ask, they broke the throttle lever off the carburetor when they dis-assembled it. Why they dis-assembled her blower to replace an easily accessible primer bulb is beyond any conceivable explanation or understanding. When she went in to pick up her blower after being told it was ready, she was handed a bag of parts, and a bill for fifty some dollars. They had the nerve to tell her (after they broke the carburetor) it needed a new carburetor, and it was going to cost as much to repair the blower as it would be to purchase a new one. Then they charged her fifty some dollars for their "fine" service. All it needed was a primer bulb! You can see in the attached photo the condition in which they returned her blower. If legible, the broken throttle lever pieces are circled in the photo. Unbelievable!!! Had this happened to me, these people would be in court making reparations for the damage they caused. This is truly criminal taking advantage of a person in this manner. If I heard one day someone burned them out, I just might have to smile.
