After doing a lot of research online about the issue and getting a diagnostics test at Midas, we were referred to come to Mathewson's for the electric work. As it turned out, we needed the throttle body replaced. The guys at Mathewson were very knowledgeable about a recall for the throttle body switch, in turn we needed to replace the entire throttle body which is a up to date part. Anyhow, yes a more expensive part but it has fixed the electrical problem. We have not had any issues since. They were easy to get an appointment with our work schedule and in a timely manner where we did not need to leave our vehicle over night. The only issue was a little mis-communication when we went to pay the bill. We were quoted one amount and then were charged for an oil change we never asked to have. The guys were super nice about the mishap and offered to take it off of the charged amount on our credit card, or give us a free oil change later. They happily took the amount off of the charge for the oil change. We definitely plan on getting future oil changes with them for one, it was a better price then Jiffy Lube and two, they seem trustworthy and knowledgeable. After our visit back in May, I believe Mathewson's definitely gets 5 stars for the service done on our vehicle. We would recommend this place to anyone who wants honest and reliable work done.

Other than the address issue, I really think this place does an amazing job with car detailing. I took my girlfriends RAV4 in here to be detailed for Mother's Day and they did such a good job! Her car was pretty nasty and when we picked it up it honest to god looked like a brand new car. The inside and outside was like it rolled off the factory floor. All the employees were friendly and they responded to my emails within minutes. Making a reservation was super easy, and drop off/pick up was easy as well. It's pricy, but they do a great job here!

I would change my review if he took responsibility for the damage and repaired it but he refused. I gave him plenty of opportunity to resolve the issue before I posted this. I take great pride in keeping my car clean and in pristine condition, but my car was not returned to me in the same condition.

Didn't matter if it was undercarriage or exhaust system or window problems - your mechanics could handle it. We've always been happy with the work we had done - and when it was done it was done RIGHT ... didn't have to go back for 'tweaks' or more work. Mike - at the desk - is a great asset; he always had time to discuss what needed doing, and was great at explaining it to someone whose car-work experience was limited to one oil change I did on the Nova. It's a GREAT place to take a vehicle for service and repair. And they even have an outside fenced area for cars that have to stay for an overnight ... or perhaps a MONTH of overnight :D as my Nova did not too long ago while they searched for and ordered parts, and tried to figure out the 'tricks' my husband had used to do things like have the passenger door on that '64 wagon unlock when the driver's door was unlocked ... a really unusual feature for that car but VERY handy. Recently my Toyota Sienna minivan started acting up. Everything I googled about the symptoms told…read moreme that it was a transmission going bad and that at best I could hope for a rebuild that might only cost around $2,000. We had a trip across Snoqualmie Pass coming up in a week to visit family for Thanksgiving, and google assured me that a transmission in that condition, hauling 5 adults plus luggage up the Cascades, would surely break and leave us stranded. And with an expensive towing bill. I wondered if it was worth repairing it. It's a 2004 Sienna AWD XLE Limited with 205K miles. A quick check on Autotrader showed only one similar model in my area, with 274K miles, for $5,995. Expanding the search to 500 miles revealed one other, with similar miles as mine, for $5,495. At that point, a ~$2,000 transmission rebuild sounded much better than selling a project car for pocket change and buying one of those other Siennas. I looked for a nearby transmission shop with good reviews and landed on Renton Transmission. After a few hours they called and said my transmission was fine; the problem was a speed sensor telling it to shift at the wrong time. Replacement cost for that sensor, $338 part + labor. After picking it up, I drove around for a long test on the highway onramps and offramps, and sharp inclines, where I had most seen the symptoms. This time there were no symptoms. They also alerted me to the fact that a less common symptom I had described to them was a misfiring cylinder, and that this appeared to be just a wiring problem. He said that cylinder's misfires were recorded in the codes. l had just days prior had an oil change done at a highly regarded shop and they had not mentioned anything about that, which suggests that they did not bother to check codes. I'm very glad to know about the misfiring cylinder; I'll have it looked at soon. I'm so glad this turned out to be so much less expensive than I had feared. Thanks, Renton Transmission! He put a rebuilt Jasper differential in and each one lasted less than 1000 miles. Had all future work done at a different highly regarded transmission shop. Our family nearly got stranded several times because of Jasper failures but were able to limp back home! Unfortunately, the other transmission shop owner and I had to both fight with Jasper to get refunded after the 3rd Jasper replacement also failed. Had a new one built and installed correctly by the new transmission shop for a small fraction of the cost Renton Transmission charged me. This was after several months off and on without a vehicle and getting screwed in the first place!!!
