Was surprised by how nice everyone was and looking at the reviews, most people are just cheapskates. These are your EYEs and it's important to have a good and experienced eye doctor. Dr. Omar Awad has done 75000+ procedures which was more than even the person in the informational videos who only did 60000! Plus the entire team made me feel comfortable and were friendly and honest about what to expect. They made it clear what to expect and gave me the proper droplets and post treatment LASIK instructions clearly. I feel like the people who left negative reviews really just don't read or don't follow instructions. Recovery took me 1 long sleep (11 hours), they do LASIK as late as 6pm appointments (I waited and got mine around 6:30pm). Overall, it was a painless and enjoyable experience and they do a rigorous prescreening process if you're eligible. If you don't have any other medical preexisting conditions, I would definitely recommend to anyone who's wanting to go glasses or contacts free!

Everyone who has had LASIK always told me, "Once you get it, you'll wish you got it sooner". I can…read moreconfirm that's 100% true, thanks to LasikPlus! I've had terrible vision since childhood (-0.5 on both sides), and saved up some HSA funds for the procedure. I'd seen countless LASIK ads and deals ($1000 off, etc.) over the years, so sought out a local spot - there are several to choose from in the Twin Cities area. The process went super fast! First, I signed up for an online call to confirm details about my eyes, then the following week I had an in-person consultation. Here's a look at how the process went: CONSULTATION: About an hour and a half long - super detailed, basically a thorough eye exam plus discussion and videos on the LASIK process and a breakdown of cost. At the end, they scheduled me for the following week (!!) for surgery. SURGERY DAY: I had my partner drive me to my appointment, and was in and out in under a half hour. I got my bag of post-op eye drops and pills and info packet, watched a video on aftercare, and waited my turn for the surgery room. SURGERY: I was in and out of the surgery room in under 5 minutes! They numb your eyes, use one machine to make the laser incision, and then walk you to the second machine to make the adjustments to your eye and secure the incision back up. POST-OP: My eyes were numb for the 15 minutes after, so I was feeling great! I walked out with their assistance to my partner's car and he drove me home. When the numbing drops wore off I was pretty uncomfortable for 30 mins, but went home and took tylenol/benadryl and took the mandatory 4-hour nap. When I woke up, the uncomfiness was gone and I could see clearly! I wore sunglasses and took it easy that day, but was so excited how easy it was. RECOVERY: Over the next week, I used the prescribed eye drops and generic eye drops, plus eye lubricant pills. I continued the eye drops and pills for the next few months (still now). My vision got better and better over the few days after my surgery, and I see perfectly. 4 STARS: I had a bit of a strange experience with scheduling, which is why this wasn't a full 5-star experience for me: The surgeon is from Idaho and wanted to take an earlier flight on the day of my scheduled surgery, and he texted me a few nights before my surgery to ask me to reschedule. I had already made work arrangements so it was a challenge to reschedule, and it felt a bit weird to be getting texts directly from the doctor. He also made some female-related comments during the short surgery that came off a bit strange. However, all of the rest of the staff was incredible!

I did not have a chance to try on the ordered frame prior to receiving the finished product. The one I received was slightly bigger which meant it was resting on my cheeks and loose. I went to return the glasses after a half day of wear and was told about their no return policy which I was not made aware of prior to purchase - and was essentially told I was imagining the difference in frame size (at Wayzata location) even when holding them side by side (I was told I was holding them to make them look that way). After the Wayzata location called the manager at Golden Valley I was told I could return them with a 30% restocking fee. These glasses were over $900. So I was to pay $300 for glasses that did not fit the same as the frame I tried on and believed I was ordering. After I made a call to the manager, who was at the Golden Valley location, they did agree to take them back. I also shared that they gaslit my (elderly) mother on how her glasses were fitting a few years ago at the Maple Grove location. I had defended them to my mother as a patient of 20(ish) years but after today they lost a customer. Millimeters matter in eye care/eyewear. The Golden Valley location that I returned them to agreed that even the "same" frames can absolutely have size differences and that can alter fit. Please do better for your patients.

The nurse I had was lovey. Dr. Sheffer however, was super condescending, flippant, and rushed me a lot. She said things like "why were you so stressed out about this??" After I had shown her a photo of the growth that is touching my iris and was bright red for weeks.. I'm 30 years old and don't have the other risk factors associated with this condition. She simultaneously told me that this condition is "so common" but that "only immigrants or people who move here from the equator" have anything to worry about when it comes to this condition worsening. She told me that if the pinguecula flared up again I could just call and send photos and she could prescribe me steroid drops as that's the only thing that can be done about this condition. One and a half months later, it's bad again and I just called and went back and forth with her nurse Tatianna (again very sweet and helpful) only to hear that I'm expected to make another appointment because there's nothing abnormal on my file even though I was diagnosed by Dr. Scheffer with a pinguecula and she saw my photos of how bad it had been. Extremely disappointed and would not recommend this practice.

I started off first grade with a boom. Literally. On the concrete playground of Wilshire Park (Go…read morePandas! LOL!), a notorious bully appeared out of nowhere and punched me in the eye while I waited my turn to ascend the monkey bars. She hit me with such force that it caused schoolyard children, supervising teachers, and nearby murder of crows to make a cacophony of ugly shrieks. (http://bit.ly/1gj0KYN) Later that day, I told my mom about my bully's Balrog punch (http://bit.ly/1bQ3R9y) and she enrolled me in karate. #nationalkarateinroseville Several weeks later, the bruising on my face disappeared; however, the cost of her blow would still be felt decades later. In my early twenties, I developed a cataract. (A cataract is blurred vision that occurs from a damaged lens in the eye.) My ailment was an anomaly -since I wasn't old- that puzzled the head ophthalmologist at Park Nicollet (St. Louis Park)/ leading surgeon at Phillips. Eventually, she determined that my cataract occurred one of two ways: extreme drug use or trauma. I didn't use any drugs, so she deducted that it had to be trauma. (Hence, the realization that it was due to that vicious punch.) I needed surgery, ASAP! Coincidentally, my father, who is 32 years older than me, and within the age range for receiving a cataract, needed surgery as well. My father and I scheduled appointments to go "under the knife" by the same doctor on the same day and place. (First ever father-son duo at Phillips, I might add) Our appointment times were different, of course. My first -and hopefully, only visit- to the Phillips Eye Institute was nothing short of excellent. That's mainly due to the considerate and professional staff. Beginning with the receptionists, they kindly guided me on filling out all of the necessary paperwork and answered all of my questions without any sighs. The nurses? Super awesome, since they clearly articulated how they would help me prepare for the surgery. They also anesthetized me without any hiccups, and when I went under, I was so relaxed that I probably wouldn't have cared if someone slapped me in the face or hijacked and sold my organs on the black market. While drugged up, I recall the surgeon making a minuscule incision on the side of my eye, which immediately caused my vision to become blurry. Right afterwards, though, I saw an array of colors and felt as if I was flying through a rainbow or in warp-speed on the Star Trek Enterprise! (http://bit.ly/1aPrTDA) She then utilized a special operating vacuum to suck out my scarred lens and injected a folded and plastic one, perfectly. Afterwards, I passed out, woke up, and found myself rockin' a not-so-badass eye patch. (See photo.) Several days later, I returned to see my ophthalmologist and had my patch removed. My vision was better than ever! I could now drive at night, read without any problems, and discern between light yellow and white. (Yeah, that's how bad it was.) To this day, my vision rocks! If I ever have an epiphany as to who punched me, I would attempt to find her via Google and then send a message demanding her to pay for my past cataract surgery. However, this will probably never happen. If you or a loved one ever has a cataract, I highly recommend the Phillips Eye Institute! They changed my life!

The front office person even met me in the lobby so I wouldn't get lost. It is rare when the whole staff is so customer-centric and you leave feeling better just by how you are treated. Wow Mn Eye - Mtka I asked the doctor if a tint would help me see so I could keep my job. The response was well, it is subjective. I asked the doctor if a glare covering would help me see at work, again she said it was subjective. I had to ask point blank if I had the diagnosis of glaucoma after hints. Lastly preparing for another eye doctor visit, while reading her visit summary, the physician stated that she spent a long time talking to me. I couldn't see where, unless "subjective" constitutes having a meaningful conversation. When I asked for help, no options were suggested, no direction given, it was again subjective. It is a big deal when you are in a fight to keep a job so you can have healthcare. I had to problem solve and find that a low vision Physician existed through the internet. I came to you out of high recommendations and trusting that even if you couldn't help I'd at least get a referral or I don't know, but will find you, someone.

The staff was very friendly and patient with me AND with my two year old running around in their play area! I was paired with a staff member with a similar prescription (the store manager, Odessa) which turned out to be very helpful in selecting frames as well as lens options that best suited that prescription. We had narrowed it down to two frames, and when I couldn't decide between them, she offered to take pictures of me with both so that I could see them from different angles. A small thing, but another example of their attentiveness and above-and-beyond service.
