My family have been patients of Dr. Bosner and Dr. Bieber(now retired) at Northwest Eyecare for about 15 years. The staff is great: helpful, pleasant and knowledgeable. It is easy to get appointments, and they are accommodating with emergencies. There is a great selection of glasses to choose from, if needed. They upgraded much of their equipment when they moved to their current location a few years ago, and the new office does not feel as cramped as the previous space. If you are looking for quality eye care, you should definitely give them a call. read more

Phone conversations with front desk staff were also weird, noticed he was wearing mask incorrectly, maybe still in training but felt unprofessional. The doctors and staff at Northwest Eyecare prof are second to none! I have been seeing Dr. Bosner for 3 years now and just adore him. He's very knowledgeable, engaging, really listens, offers feasible suggestions, and is overall just a great doc. He was the first eye doctor to realize I was being over prescribed in my contact lens strength. So now I am seeing great! They've also been great to me when I had an emergency once and got me in THAT DAY and did a thorough exam on me, and made sure I was comfortable with how they addressed my concerns even though they were busy. The staff is really sweet and efficient. Lynn, the office manager has been really helpful and understanding when I call with insurance questions. AND they try and help you get ALL the benefits you can out of your insurance even if you DON'T have vision coverage (like me). Most of their clientele are Upper Arlington residents, but their office is very laid back and comfortable. Their prices are some of the most reasonable I've found as when i chose to go there originally, they were the cheapest out of 6 places I called. Though it doesn't look like much from the outside, Northwest EyeCare Professionals' office is really nice on the inside. I see Dr. Travis and she has been super friendly and helpful each visit. She pointed out to me that I have an astigmatism, which I didn't previously know. Dr. Travis helped me in choosing new contacts as the kind I had been wearing for years are being phased out and don't make toric lenses for my astigmatism. She explained to me the benefits of the type she was prescribing and was very patient through the process as I tried several different kinds. The technology that Northwest EyeCare Professionals use is far above that of my previous optometrist. Prices are quite reasonable, but they don't pressure you into buying your glasses or contacts from them, which is nice. I'm definitely a fan! read more

Excellent care and service from Dr. Julie Curtis and all members of the staff for my 95 year old mother. The initial call with Mike created a very positive impression of this practice and the subsequent on-site visit today was equally positive. Each staff member was professional, knowledgeable, and friendly. The exam was thorough and conducted with patience and care. The selection of frames was great. The office is bright and welcoming. Dr. Bosner is great. I saw him for over a year with no trouble and great appointments. Jackie at the front desk was also great but alas, Jackie is no longer there. And so it seems a new era may have dawned on NW Eyecare. The Friday before my normal yearly appointment, a "Britney" calls to let me know she couldn't "pull up an authorization" from my new insurance company. I have no idea what significance this holds. (Can I not come in for my appointment if I'm not so "authorized"?) I'm not even sure if my new insurance (switched jobs recently) COVERS eye care. It likely doesn't. She wants me to talk to my HR person and find out if I have vision coverage. Um, no. Quizzing my HR rep on a Friday afternoon about my insurance coverage is not gonna happen. I probably spend 10 minutes on the phone with Britney, trying to figure out what she wants from me. (Really, I just want to finish up some work before the weekend.) She says they "just want to get everything ready for when I come in." And so we go in kafkaesque circles about how she "wasn't able to pull an authorization" from my insurance info, while I try to figure out what th' heck she wants me to DO about it. Finally, I have enough and just canceled my appointment. That's how much I don't like confrontation. (Especially when I have no idea what the issue is!) As much as I like Dr. Bosner, I would rather find another eye doctor than battle it out with Britney. Later I talked to a very-calm and sane office manager, Lynn. She said people sometimes get upset when they pay out-of-pocket, but at no time during my and Britney's conversation was that ever brought up. If it had been, it may have gone something like: Britney: "It doesn't look like you have vision coverage on your insurance." Me: "Ah well, I may not have." Britney: "Ok, the out-of-pocket cost may be $115 or more." Me: "Ok." I'm not unsympathetic to those who don't have an extra $115 lying around. And while I've never been known to leave a trail of benjamins in my wake, I'm fine with covering a yearly eye exam. Still baffled over how this became a such big deal. I would return to NW Eyecare if I knew I wouldn't have to deal with Britney. But until then, will be sticking with no-drama eyecare places. read more

A few years ago I needed an emergency appointment as I was having trouble with my vision/eyes. It's important to note that I had a major accident with my eyes a number of years back that can continue to give me problems to this day. Dr. Bieber saw me immediately and was very helpful. Ever since, I have gone back for my regular eye visit. I have never had any issues with scheduling an appointment; the receptionists are always very friends; and the employees assisting with choosing eye glasses are great. They make sure you're using the most out of your insurance. The only downside from my last visit is that I wanted to get lenses in an old set of frames, but they said that if something happened when they were putting lenses in then the frames wouldn't be covered. I ended up just finding new frames instead... My last visit was this past week and Dr. Bieber had an extern working with him. The extern did a great job (not much of a conversationalist, but that may come with experience); Dr. Bieber double checked everything and the extern was right on! I would recommend Northwest Eyecare Professionals - they certainly are professionals and run a great practice. read more

I have been going to Northwest Eyecare professionals for about 20 years. For the most part, I have had positive experiences. I particularly enjoy seeing Dr. Fillmore. The only downside to his care, is the fact that he only works on Thursdays. However, all in all my experiences in the past have been really good. I had one unfortunate experience in the last six months at eyecare professionals. I was having troubles with contact lenses. And I was having a lot of issues dealing with the staff. They were unfriendly and uncooperative for the most part. I needed a new prescription for a different brand. It took me over three weeks in order to get the brand name switched. I had already paid for a second visit that I thought was unnecessary since I have been wearing contacts all my life. They was no apology for the delay in my request nor reimbursement for an unneeded second doctor visit. read more

I had an appointment a couple of weeks ago and got a trial pair of contacts. They did not fit well and I called back to ask to try something else. I couldn't get anyone to return my call after calling two times. I spent $70 on a copay and got no prescription and no contacts. I would not recommend this place. read more

Fantastic office all around. The doctors, staff and team members are incredibly friendly and professional. The space is clean and bright, and I got an appointment very quickly (next day) when I called. I was welcomed into an exam room at the minute of my scheduled appointment, and everyone with whom I spoke was very friendly. Three days after my appointment a fresh batch of contacts will be delivered to my door. This office used to be spectacular, however it has declined dramatically over the past couple years. The doctor spent less than 10 minutes determining my new prescription, and big surprise it was completely over-prescribed. After going back and forth all I wanted to do was return the brand new, very expensive glasses I had just purchased. They refused to honor any type of reimbursement on the lenses ($113 just for lenses!!), and only reimbursed me for a portion of the cost of frames. Instead of trying to resubmit it to my insurance to see if I could get more of my money back the response I got was, "Well when we go through the insurance we make close to no profit on the lens." Save your time and money and go elsewhere to work with real professionals. read more

My mom goes to Dr. Bieber too. When she had some complications from cataract surgery with an ophthalmologist, she called Dr. Bieber for advice. He spoke to her immediately to give her suggestions about what to do and who to see to help her out. I really miss him. read more

I agree with the other most recent reviewers on this one. I visited this office last year to get a new prescription (with contacts and glasses) after moving to Columbus and have been struggling with that prescription this whole time. To begin with, the receptionists were rude and seemed like girls fresh out of college who have never worked customer service, the waiting room was swarming with kindergarten aged children, and the young person who administered my eye test seemed inexperienced and actually insulted me on the fact that I had bad eyesight. After that, I had to keep going back to the office during the first month after my initial visit because the doctor prescribed me to contacts fitted for astigmatism. After I complained that they would pop out when not severely hurting my eyes and that I would like to go back to the brand I had always worn, she then re-prescribed me to non astigmatism contacts but told me that I could not order bi-weekly contacts from the brand I like because they were outdated. She insisted that I buy dailies or monthlies of brands I'd never heard of before. I'm not sure if it's due to the fact that I chose monthlies or if my prescription was just off, but for the past year I haven't been able to see very well out of my left eye off and on, like some of the freshly opened contacts came from a bad batch. I am now at the end of the year supply I bought from this office, and am on the hunt for a new optometrist that has the patient's best interest in mind. Beware. read more

I really like Dr.Fillmore, he has a great sense of humor and takes his time explaining everything in detail. I also took my 9 year old son for his first vision exam and he really liked it and liked Dr. Fillmore. Both my son and I have slight deficits in our vision but he said we could wait and see how our eyes are at the next appt. as long as our eyesight wasn't bugging us. So he did not push at all for us to buy glasses. read more

I've been a patient for about four years and have interacted mostly with Dr. Travis and Marcia Emerson. I have been severely nearsighted all my life, so getting a thorough and accurate refraction is much more important than for someone with mild correction. After meeting Dr. Travis at another practice and receiving an exceptionally good refraction and follow-up, I didn't hesitate to follow her to Northwest Eyecare. She is consistently thorough and provides a great deal of useful information. Her advice was especially valuable both when I developed a retina issue requiring surgery, and when I needed cataract surgery. In each case she not only educated me about treatment options - spending far more time with me than the surgeons -- but also referred me to specialists well-versed in my particular condition, and proactively engaged them before and after the procedures. I've encountered many opticians in 50+ years of wearing glasses, and Marcia Emerson is top-notch. In my experience her product and industry knowledge, skill in fitting and diligence in pursuing optimal results are second to none. The practice's new facility is beautifully thought out and makes for a pleasant and relaxing patient experience. read more

Very bad and very disappointing experience. My wife and I have been to many different eye doctors in many cities and this ranks at the bottom of the list. The staff is very unfriendly, they aren't helpful and they can't seem to keep any information straight. I'm not sure if every single note is taken on a post-it note and then thrown away, but they're got to improve this or all of their patients will be gone. read more

Good doctors but their frames and lenses are overpriced with 250%. Double and a half time the market price!

I went to see Dr. Travis about a year ago. I had my eyes checked and found out that my eyesight had improved (?!) from my last check a couple years previous. That should have been my first red flag. I received my glasses (which I agree, are insanely overpriced) and the lenses kept making me feel like I had double vision. I was also getting headaches. After going back and forth trying to get my sight tested again, and different adjustments, etc., I finally just gave up. To this day I still cannot wear my glasses for longer than 20 minutes without getting a head ache. I am entirely disappointed with the care and will never go back. My husband is a doctor and I cannot believe that this underachieving level of health care exists. I recommend shopping elsewhere. read more
