My hubby and I switched to Southwest Eyecare from our optometrist about two years ago. These guys are open on Saturdays!!!! It's such a rare treat when it comes to optometrists. For once a medical appointment that I don't have to deal with during working hours!! I have to say, the minute we started going to this business, it was like a breath of fresh air. No pressure from Dr. Hartig on wanting me to purchase bifocals or progressives (although I know they would be beneficial but I've been refusing to commit). He simply tells me he fully supports my decision, regardless. He is always so kind and personable, and gives me sound advice along with some interesting educational trivia about my eyeballs. The prices here are also so much better than our old optometrist. There are perks at this location that I am told are included in our insurance, but at our old spot they were charging us extra. The selection in eyeglasses is quite grand as well. The staff are very helpful (and honest when giving their opinions on frames, which is much appreciated). We have no plans to go anywhere else for our vision needs! read more

I'm really disappointed in this practice. I have been a happy patient for about 10 years, along with my kids. I Needed measurements recently for safety glasses. Something they had in their computer. My most recent pair of glasses are less than a year old. They wanted to charge me $15 to just print it off for me. The office manager was rude. Patient loyalty obviously means nothing. I could understand if I wasn't a patient or it had been several years since I had gotten glasses. They have lost my family's business. read more

I'm horrible with names but I love when I am picking out lenses they will tell you if they love or don't like them on you! They are patient and explain everything and are concerned about their patients and ask about other medical conditions to make sure their patients are receiving the best possible eye and medical care. Yeah ... I'm getting older. It had become apparent the my eyesight for reading was no longer stellar and need to do something about it. I first visited Southwest a few years ago based on a recommendation from a coworker. Southwest also participates with VSP insurance plan. I recently returned because I was overdue for an eye exam and needed new glasses. Each of the doctors have been very personable. They take their time to listen to your needs as well as explain what is happening in easy to understand language. Their staff have been professional and responsive. They have a wide array of eyewear available. The staff take their time in helping you to select the right fit for yourself at varying price points. They'll explain the different options available. My glasses were available as promised. Their office is off of Hoover Road, but sits back off of the road. The signage out front is not very big. As I am not a regular person in the area, I did drive by their location a few times. They have plenty of parking space. Office hours vary from one day to the next, but they do have some evening hours and Saturday. As this is across town for me, I am grateful for the Saturday hours, but you will need to schedule ahead. The office is good about following up with you for an annual check-up, sending post-cards and one of those auto calling features to remind you that you are due for check-up. Their persistency can be a bit much, but they do strive to stay in touch with the patients. But, I really did need to get my eyes check. I feel comfortable here, even if it is a bit of a drive for myself, and have come to trust the eye exams and eyewear services. read more

Racist receptionist. Will never return! We went here a couple months back with my wife. She went in before me and was asked for insurance and an ID. She didn't have it. I come in two minutes later. No ID needed and her tone completely changed. My wife is Mexican and I am white. read more

I found this place through my insurance provider VSP. The website is where you want to make your first stop at. It's very clear and easy to navigate. Clients have access to the office calendar to view what times are available and make an appointment. Plus, if you're a first time client they provide the paperwork online that you can fill out prior to your appointment. You'll get a confirmation email of the scheduled appointment. A few days before and on the day of my appointment, I got phone text reminders. Dr. Marie Schiff is very professional, kind and very understandingly honest. The exam itself didn't feel rushed and she worked with me. The office staff is wonderful hosts, prompt and was very willing to help. They have separate staff to specialize in each part of a client's appointment. I didn't feel rushed and everyone was easy to talk to. When it came time to find a new pair of glasses and fitting I didn't feel rushed or ignored. Since I had a pretty good idea what I had in mind, we got to spend more time to get a good fitting and other extra's that I actually wanted. Then when I came in to pick up my glasses, they made sure I had a good fit and that I was overall happy with my new glasses. I would definitely recommend Southwest EyeCare to anyone's eye appointment. I only wish I had learned about them sooner. Thanks again. Update 3/13/14 - I called to inquire about fixing a previous pair of glasses that never quite fit right. (Since then I found a substitute pair through them) The helpful and understanding person on the phone found that since these frames were still under warranty, that they could easily replace the frames as long as I bring in the old pair to use the original lenses. After over 10 years of being a loyal customer they let me down, big time. I had a traumatic cataract op in 1978. The eye is too misshapen for an implant so I require a special ground "Toric" lens. Without the lens it is worse than having only one eye; what the bad eye sees confuses what the good eye sees. Because of the excellent, up-to-date service I received for many years continued to see Southwest Eyecare even after a job change required a 4 hour drive per visit. Over the years the office staff fouled up once or twice, to err is human, but on the last occasion, after express phone instructions on what was required and why, and a stressful 2 hour drive in the rain (with one good eye), I was informed they had not received my contacts. In fact, they hadn't even been ordered. Of course they never bothered to call and tell me this beforehand. I was angry. I was distraught. I never yelled, but I never whispered either. However, I never said anything derogatory against anyone. I left and drove the stressful 2 hours home, in the rain. About 2 weeks letter I received a letter from the office. Instead of an apology for their error and the inconvenience and stress, it stated my optometrist could no longer "be of service". Insult to injury, rubbing salt in the wound, you pick the metaphor. STAY AWAY from Southwest Eyecare. Your patronage means nothing to them. You are a number, not a person. read more
