Fish tacos and fish and chips (sub for Sweet Potato Fries)
    Stephanie D.

Came here for happy hour with my family and we were seated right away. Unfortunately, a few dishes I wanted to try were unavailable that day, including the Ora King salmon crudo and smoked salmon platter, but I'll definitely be back to try them another time. We ordered the happy hour fish tacos which were good, although I wish the fish pieces were a little bigger. The clam chowder was delicious and ended up being my family's favorite dish. It was so good we ordered two bowls. My personal favorite was the Rockefeller oysters. They were amazing and I ended up ordering another rounds of them. Overall, we had a great experience and I'm looking forward to coming back to try more of the menu. FYI - street parking can be tight depending on where you park

I really enjoyed this spot. Super fresh and flavorful dishes. We signed up for a table online and got a drink in the neighborhood while we waited. The timing was perfect. We sat on the patio and it was comfortable. The poke was awesome, the tuna was fresh and buttery. The fish and chips are a must order. Both the regular and sweet potatoes works well. We had the sweetest server too. Overall I want to go back!

I stopped here for an early dinner on NYE. My date and I just happen to get here in time to order on the HH menu. Score! We split a half dozen oysters. I got a poke bowl with salmon made df/gf and he got fish tacos. Overall the food was decent. The server was nice and attentive for the night. We sat in a makeshift area

Stopped here on a weekday for a quick lunch. Fish tacos were perfectly crispy with fresh ingredients for topping. Simple but hit the spot. Make sure you arrive early if you're looking to pick up fish from the market to cook at home. Everything in the case was sold out early in the afternoon.

Second time here in leas than a week. The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. The outside heated covered patio is great, but if you are in the middle, it does get a bit chilly. Both times, I had the smoked salmon platter. Holy. Smokes. This is hands down the best smoked salmon I've ever had. I'm ruined! (But in a good way). So much yum!

Ordered the 2-piece fish and chips along with a dozen oysters. The fish and chips were honestly the best I've ever had. The fish was super fresh, flaky, and the batter stayed crispy without feeling overly greasy. The fries were solid too, but the fish itself completely carried the meal. The oysters were really good as well and tasted fresh. The whole place had a laid-back seafood market type of feel, and everything tasted high quality. Definitely worth stopping by if you're in Portland.

WOW! I had the most WONDERFUL dinner here recently and have been thinking about it every day since. The fish is so clean and fresh and delicious, and we all enjoyed our drinks very much. But the service? Somehow even better than the incredibly wonderful food. Every person we had the pleasure of interacting with was so friendly, helpful, and knowledgable. I literally cannot recommend coming here enough. I will definitely be coming back anytime I'm in Portland!

Service was horrible. Unfortunately it does fall back on Flying Fish because I order from them and that is who they chose to have deliver my food. The food was left outside of the door to my building. I live downtown Portland. It was during the time when the preparation was getting underway for the parade also. It is also a bad neighborhood. The delivery person made no attempt to contact me by phone or reach out to the business and then proceeded to be rude to me. Ultimately, this leaves a bad taste in my in my mouth all the way around. I feel like the business does not even know this is happening.

So fresh and flavorful! Great service and great food! Finally had the opportunity to try out the fish and chips at the PDXNM and I will most certainly be visiting Flying Fish again to see what other delicious dishes they serve.

I had been wanting to go to Flying Fish for a long time now. I finally got a chance to go with my family and it was better than expected. The outdoor seating area and indoor bar seating are great, it's covered and they have heaters outside if you're worried about weather. Now let's talk about the most important part, the food. It is fantastic. We had the kanpachi tacos, the fried fish tacos, and the clam chowder. All of them were bangers, especially the kanpachi tacos. My kids had the fish and chips which they both loved. The staff is very friendly. They also have a cool little store where you can buy an array of fish & other goods. I recommend going to Flying Fish Co immediately.

My wife saw a review for Flying Fish on TikTok, and as such our visit here immediately became a top priority. Craving oysters (when did we become these people?!), we stopped in for lunch, ordered a half dozen (and later, another half dozen), plus the Rockfish and Chips, and the Hot and Crispy Fish Sando. Everything was enjoyable: the sando was reminiscent of an upscale Fish Filet (I mean that in a positive way) with a tiny bit of heat; the Rockfish were fried in a salt-and-pepper-y seasoned batter that paired well; and the oysters, of course, were a particular highlight, as previously mentioned, since a second set was ordered to finish off the meal. The only disappointing thing about the whole meal was a rather uninspired spicy Bloody Mary, which didn't really do much for me, sadly. Service was friendly and attentive, and the covered outdoor dining area was spacious, well-lit, and warm enough to be welcoming and comfortable. There's also a secondary covered and fenced dining patio that is dog-friendly, which is another perk! And lastly, the market and bar inside boasts a heaping helping of fresh fish finery coming in many forms: fresh, frozen, 'frigerated, filleted and fried, either served over the counter, or available to-go. Lots of smoked salmon options as well! Very cool place, and one that my wife in particular has fallen in love with. We'll definitely be returning, likely for dinner next time, to see if the menu is expanded with additional options such as scallops, swordfish, steelhead and other seasonal selections.

(From September, 2024) As we walked through the streets of downtown Portland, my sister and her husband mentioned this place as they had excellent Oysters and wanted me to try them out. Of course I was happy to oblige! Sitting outside, we each ordered some white wine and did the 12 oyster order which did 4 samples each from 3 regions. Can't remember which regions they were; maybe if I had wrote this review right after we came here. The oysters were succulent and fresh with the lemon and horseradish giving some tartness and heat to it; as it should be! The menu also does other seafood dishes such as salmon crudo, clam chowder, fried fish, and BYO poke. I can see why this is a popular destination with the welcoming entrance and laid-back outdoor table setups. Great pick from my sis and bro-in-law. Plus it's kid and pet (I think) friendly!

Really enjoyed our quick stop here for my B'day week. They are closed on my official B'day so we went on a Monday during their Happy Hour service 2-5pm. We shared 1/2 dozen oyster (3 pairs from WA) and fish tacos. Everything was prepared perfectly. The oysters were so fresh and delish! We loved their light and zesty sauce. The fresh fried rockfish tocos were also outstanding. And the Barnacle sauce was really good as well. We will be back to enjoy the outside when it is not so hot outside.

Amazing burger with Brie, mild jalapeño and other goodies.

No sorry that’s not a product we have. We have the fresh dry pack scallops and packages of bacon though!

For two people we paid $150 with tip, and that was without desserts and coffee. Things of note from a Friday night summer visit to this place that's been there four years now: High-end presentation. The plating is top level and each thing they place in front of you is like a sculpture or work of art. Nice energy, not at all too loud. They have acoustic tiles on the ceiling and on the concrete floor added a runner that echos the curve of the large bar, which helps. Portion size looked nice and generous from examples of things we saw being brought to tables, such as the salad and focaccia. Best appetizers were fried cauliflower and the asparagus dish w/ the eggs (which would be even better if warm). The one fish entree is the sablefish (ours was underseasoned) that's brought out on thin piece of cedar with edges still slightly charred. It comes with nothing else on the plate so plan accordingly. Just inside the door they have a little snack/pantry curated market of sorts, where you can linger while waiting for seating and can buy things like a cute little bottle of honey for $20 or a colorful crocheted wall hanging basket for $70. Lots of good natural light because of the walls of floor to ceiling windows. Option of ample seating indoors and outdoors because it's a corner location. Cautionary note: We saw and heard a lunatic in hoodie who, at 6pm on a Friday night, walked up to one of the unoccupied outdoor tables and flipped it over, causing the plates and glasses to fly in the air and shattered, landing in shards next to the elderly couple at the next table who jumped up, her understandably in shock and tears. Staff did nice job moving them inside to a twotop, cleaning up the mess, and removing all the seating on that side of the building for the night.

We came here because I heard they have a great seafood menu and my kids recently started enjoying oysters and other shellfish that used to be "gross". We got here about 15 minutes to opening on a Friday night and there was already a line. We were fortunate to still get a spot outside which worked out because it wasn't too hot and the outdoor space is much more spread out than inside. We ordered a dozen oysters to start. Love their various droppers with infused mignottes and hot sauces. Really made it fun to try out different combos. We also got the cold smoked mussels, the hamachi crudo, grilled oysters, lobster roll, rockfish, and the little gem salad. In order of least favorite to favorite, the little gem salad was good but just not that memorable or spetqcular the way the other dishes were. Next, the grilled oysters were flavorful with the garlic and lime but I wished there was a little more kimchi flavor and overall more sauce given the size of the oysters (they were huge!). The lobster roll was good and I appreciated the different take on a lobster roll but my favorite lobster rolls that really accentuate the lobster flavor and this masked it a little. The hamachi crudo was a surprise. It's a dish you see a lot and I was a little worried about how the pineapple might overtake the rest of the flavors but that didn't happen. The balance between sweet, savory, sour, and crunch from the peanuts was perfect and every bite was really enjoyable. Finally, my favorite was the cold smoked mussels. You never know how fish sauce and tom kha might overwhelm everything but again, their chef understands flavor balance really well. You could taste all the flavors, the smokiness, the slight bitter and sour umami flavors and slight sweetness to round it out. It was outstanding and highly recommend. They also have great cocktails that go well with their dishes. Really enjoyed the experience here and will definitely come back.
