I noticed that no one has reviewed Dr Preston's office since she moved to a new location and hired new office staff. I saw a lot of reviews that talked about long wait times which are no longer applicable. Her wait times are extremely reasonable now and she runs very much on time. They care that she gives each patient has not diminished even though she is running on time. She is an amazing optometrist who really cares about her patients. I have been seeing her with my children for over 20 years. I have seen her practice have some growing pains, but since covid is really come to be a very professional setting without Dr Preston changing her wonderful care. read more

My child has cognitive disabilities paired with anxiety when it comes to medical appointments. This can make it very difficult to complete an eye exam. Dr. Preston is a ROCK STAR! She gave my child the time she needed to cooperate with the exam process. Dr. Preston was patient and strategic in making the appointment fun and in getting an accurate read of my child's eye glass prescription needs. Now, I understand why on some past appointments there was a long wait in her waiting room. If you have to wait, it is NOT because of poor service. Actually, it is the opposite! She puts in whatever time it takes to make the patient at ease and to get an accurate exam completed. If you have to wait, know that she is serving her patients fully and will do the same for you. Come prepared with things to entertain yourself and your child. : ) Over the last few years, we've had other doctors rush my child through without a thorough exam as though they figure they'll get what they missed on the next visit. After three years of visits like that, where a view into the back of my child's eye was skipped and the analysis of her astigmatism rushed, I am extremely thankful for Dr. Preston allowing my more than pediatric aged child (yet, cognitively younger) back into her schedule! We left with her eyeglass prescription accurately updated as well as a complete assessment of her eye health, which others had been unable to do. To top it off, Dr. Preston didn't really take all that much longer than the docs on the poor exams. She was patient and accommodating, which helped my daughter cooperate. read more

Dr. Preston is amazing! My son did not have any eye problems until recently. He managed to get something (likely an infection) to his eye on 4th of July, which almost freaked us out. Not being able to find anywhere that is relatively open, we found Dr. Preston's place by chance. I believe she was on-call and I am so glad that it was the case. She first assured me over the phone that nothing serious is going on and gave clear suggestions to try. From this point on, we kept constant communication with Dr. Preston through messaging and she helped tremendously although she was also outside and was trying to have a vacation day. Her help extended to the degree that she sent a prescription to our pharmacy for an antibiotics eye drop (since over the counter eye drops were not helping). (The pharmacy even failed to get the prescription the first time properly so she has to call back and fix their mistake) I have been living in the USA for the last 13 years and had been to many hospitals, seeing multiple doctors, including ER visits and pediatric ERs. I have never seen what Dr. Preston did. She was understanding, she was able to diagnose without seeing the patient, she was spot on, and she was extremely helpful. We would have been running around the city looking for an open urgent care or ER, spending potentially thousands or dollars and many hours on a 4th of July if we could not find Dr. Preston. For this and helping my son, we are forever grateful to her. I would highly recommend her. read more

If you are looking for the best eye care for your child with a serious eye condition, then Dr. Preston is for you. We can't and won't trust our son with anyone else. The wait times don't bother us because Dr. Preston is well worth the wait. The staff is great and accommodating. A special shout out to Rachael who is such a sweetheart! She's always so welcoming when we see her. Our son was born with congenital cataracts. It's been a very long journey with lots of moments where my husband and I weren't sure if we would be able to handle how difficult our son's vision needs would be. Our son has been wearing medical grade contact lenses since he was two months old. There have been plenty of appointments of our son crying his head off, where our appointments ran over two hours as Dr. Preston patiently took care of our son's eyes. She never had a problem inserting lenses in our son since he was one year old. If it wasn't for Dr. Preston, our son wouldn't be where he is today. We've been seeing Dr. Preston for over three years (for my child). She's a good doctor and I don't have any issues with her abilities. We see her every 2-3 months so it's fairly frequent. That said, I'm considering getting a new eye doctor due to the atrocious wait times we've had to endure as her patient. It's a big issue that many others here have commented on. We regularly wait an hour after our appointment time to see her. Sometimes 1.5 hours (this 90 minute wait time has happened at least 4 times in 3 years). All this waiting to see Dr. Preston for 5 minutes. That is so wrong, particularly for a pediatric eye doctor. The staff always apologizes for the wait times. Obviously this is an ongoing issue that I assume Dr. Preston is aware of. My question is: Why not work on addressing it and show respect for your patient's time? Why let the problem go on for so long? read more

Dr. Preston is AMAZING! She is so great with kids; caring, and kind. She has all the most up to date equipment to test kids' eyes and can make any accommodation needed to adjust to what kids need or what they will tolerate according to their age. Dr. Preston is the BEST. Wait time at the office can sometimes be longer but do you know why? It's because she LISTENS and takes all the time to truly get the right prescription for your kids' needs. She also takes state insurance, which many pediatric eye care offices won't, and so she has many clients needing her. She said that she just CANNOT say no to a child in need. Now THAT's the kind of doc I want for my kids. Plus she's so professional, thoughtful, and excellent at her craft. I couldn't recommend her and her office any higher! read more

Dr Preston sees a tremendous amount of patients that are disabled in some way. That is why the wait can be long at times. They deal with CHILDREN. Autistic children, Downs Syndrome children, mentally challenged adults and children. They also are happy to take care of the average patient that just needs simple glasses. Those parents should be grateful they don't have a child that is almost blind or can't speak, walk or talk. Maybe the new first time parents that have to be told their 3 month old probably has a tumor and is blind. Parents.....before you start complaining GET ALL THE FACTS!!!!!! Know what you are talking about. They spend as much time needed for each patient. I wait for fantastic care for my child.....you should also. If you are new patients, this review may save you hundred bucks!! I had my daughter here for a regular vision check and received a bill of $186 excluding $320 that they charged to insurance. I feel I got robbed as this is just a regular vision check. When I talk to the financial department, they said there is a special charge to new patient for a level 4 check, which makes the bill so high. And they said they told my wife they had this fee for new patient when she brought my daughter in, but clearly they didn't. The whole service is turned to meaningless when you get a bill like that for a pediatric vision check (my daughter's vision is good by the way). One star, as this is the lowest I can give! read more

We took our 4-year-old daughter here for the first time this past Friday. Andrea at the front desk was warm and welcoming and Dr. Preston was so kind and sweet. Our daughter had been going to a different ophthalmologist since she was 2 months old. This was the first appointment she was calm and cooperative. She loves Dr. Preston and her poodle Jacko! (I don't think I spelled that right lol). Dr. Preston was very thorough and listened to us attentively. It really showed that she genuinely cares about her patients. The doctors are great, 5 star. They're nice with me, good with my kids, and explain treatment in a way I understand. But both times we've had ridiculously long wait times. The first time we weren't seen. for over an hour. The second, we got in a room pretty fast but then the doctor took 40 minutes to come in. I don't know if they need more staff or fewer patients or what. 9/15 - yet another 1hour+ wait time to see a doctor. read more

Worst experience ever, as others reviewed, the wait time is terrible. One hour appointment became two and half hours. My kid and I waited more than 30min before being seen and another hour in the room for the diagnosis. Actual face time with the doctor is less than 30min. I love Dr. Preston. My kid has been going to her for 18 years. Even though he in theory will age out, I still intend for him to see her into adulthood. Yes, the appointment itself is long for a complete eye exam with eye dilation. I find them her staff to be extremely thorough. We rarely wait in the waiting room to start the appointment. He has had some issues with his eyes over the years and she has been fabulous. Eye therapy was successful. She answers all my questions and has been amazing with my kid and his bazillion questions. Dr. Preston is great, wonderful, honestly I could not speak highly enough of her. However the new receptionist is the worst receptionist I have ever encountered in my life. Rachel was the last receptionist and she was the best, sweetest, kindest, 10/10 customer service on and off the phone, EVERY time. The new receptionist 0/10. I would score her lower if I could. One time she interrupted me when I was trying to explain my dilemma (that I could not be seen today) but no, she interrupted me and refused to listen and I had to wait an hour and a half to be told exactly what I already knew. The wait time to see doctor is totally Ridiculous! Each visit you can expect to wait at the lobby for 20-30 min. then when you got to in the doctor office that is another waiting time 45 min or more. Dr. Preston is great but If you consider to come here you should expecting this visit is going to be 1.30-2 hrs. of waiting plus only 15 mins seeing your doctor. read more

I have been going to NW Pediatric Eyecare for 5 years...with both of my kids. I have always had excellent service from Dr. Preston and Dr. Simmons. They are extremely knowledgeable and make my kids (ages 8 and 4) at ease about going to the doctor. The staff is fun and efficient and I absolutely love the care that my kids receive. read more

My son went here twice for eye exams. The staff is very nice and friendly. I had questions about my insurances. The person who handles their billing is very knowledgeable. She provided the answers very quickly and clear. The assistances were very patient with my kid. Dr. Preston is very nice and professional. From the waiting time to finish the eye exam is about 1 hr. Overall, I am very happy with Northwest Pediatric eye care. I have gone to three eye doctors. I am seeing Dr Preston for my 3+years daughter for her high astigmatism, such an amazing doctor and an expert in her field. If you are with her, i bet you will get the best treatment and best guidance. As others have posted, the wait time is ridiculous. Over an hour with no one checking in on us, so we left. It's really amazing, in a bad way, how disorganized this business is and how there is basically no concept of appointment time. I would never recommend this place.
