This used to be my go-to locksmith, but not anymore. I dropped off a couple of locks to be rekeyed, they said it would take a day and they would call me when done. Four days later, I hadn't heard from them, so I called to check. After 5 minutes on hold, I was told that they would be done by the time I got there. The next day, I stopped by to pick them up, and the locksmith could not find them. I waited 10 minutes while he looked, called his partner, looked some more, and found them still not keyed. I was comparing prices in the Portland area and was able to find a better deal at East Portland Locksmith to make a spare push-to-start car key. Northwest Security and Lock was $50 more, and it took 5 calls to actually reach someone without being stuck on hold for 30 minutes. My disabled neighbor had lost his key & had also recently changed the lock & was locked out. so I didn't have a spare to let him in. After he & other neighbor tried to get in he asked me if I knew contact for this one in Freddy's parking lot. I looked it up & called for info. Then got neighbor's ok to call. Alex was very helpful and knowledgeable with complicated chipped keys and their workings. 150 dollars cheaper than the dealership. Way better than ace hardware which usually runs out of keys or has staffing issues. These guys took care of my keys in a matter of minutes. If you have a 2010 to 2012 toyota, GO TO ALEX. I went in today to get a spare key for my car. I was told at another place it would be $70 for an addl key. Alex told me it would be $100 through him but said let me check and see if thats my best price. He ended up being able to make it for $40 which saved me money and also gave me information on electronic keys and copying them. He and his wife are awesome. Was quoted $65 to cut and program a blank key fob when other shops wanted $100-150 but only ended up paying $5 here! Alex was very honest and told me that my toyota didn't have a transponder so he would only charged me $5 to cut the key and printed up instructions for me to program the fob myself to save some money. I'm sure other locksmiths would have gladly ripped me off. I highly recommend coming here! read more

After some pretty terrible experiences with what I think are scam businesses, I called Alex to help me get into my car (lost the only key I had) that was parked at my job's lot. He arrived right on time, was communicative, and cooperative with the limitations of the job. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!! Very unprofessional. Harassing. Calls from multiple numbers. Rude. Initially when I reached out to them I immediately got a return call which I thought was great! I explained my needs: That I was unable to get in the basement due to the previous tenants putting a new lock on the door and their was a key broken off in the lock. He said he would be there Tuesday to help. I received a call from a different number upon arrival and I asked why a different number and he said it was his personal number. Then after speaking with the tech I realized this is not who I spoke with on the phone and he said he was never told there maybe something in the lock so he didn't bring the tool for that. Because I needed the lock fixed that day as I was flying back home, I said please do whatever you need, and least expensive way to do it, to make sure that I have a basement that locks and a key to give new tenant moving in. He kept trying to up-sell me on my other locks and taking about other things that had nothing to do with my initial call. There was zero communication between the owner of the company at this (503) number you will call here, and the tech that came out. Well the tech came upstairs and said the door locks with the previous lock I had in there. My mistake for not going downstairs to check it while he was there. But when I went to lock door it wouldn't catch into the door (which is why the new lock above was installed that had a key broken off in it that he couldn't fix because he wasn't told that was my problem, that I clearly said was in my initial call!) the owner was very rude about coming back out and was so crazy insistent on getting another $65 dollars out of me for the tech to come out! I was harassed by the owner and the tech saying they needed payment when he knew that was a tenant and I text and said I wasn't available that second. He said he was going to make his tech sit at my house and wait until I called for payment. I continually got calls and texts harassing me for $65 within hours of him coming back out and I said I needed to call him back right then with payment. Charging me again for a service call, when the tech didn't show me on the first call I paid for how to latch the lock. It's not like I went silent on him or anything. What a mess! Don't do it!! Huge thumbs down. Hope you're happy with your $65 while losing a customer and giving such a negative experience. Absolutely THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!! read more

I was a customer before when it was called Davis Lock and Safe Chucks, and was a bit surprised when I saw Alex. However, the experience in his shop and Alex's expertise was the same as before. I had a key that a big box home improvement store couldnt figure out how to duplicate. Swung by here and within less than 2 minutes I was out with my duplicate key. Next time around ill have to ask if they have any mortise locks of a certain thickness. read more
