I can attach the screenshots of our entire communication history if needed here. Here is the timeline of events: Jan 15: I first reached out via Yelp with all project details. Jan 19: Paid a $600 deposit (Total contract: $1,700). Estimated cabinet arrival was the first week of February. Feb 20: Cabinets arrived, and I notified you via text message on yelp. Feb 23: You visited to inspect the cabinets. This is when you noted they were heavy, required panel/filler trimming, and needed two extra helpers at an additional cost. I explicitly agreed to this without issue. Feb 23 - April 7: It took ~43 days to schedule a start date due to your availability/reasons etc. You mentioned helpers were unavailable on Fridays and Mondays, so I agreed to Wednesday/Thursday, April 8th and 9th. During this entire period, you never mentioned I hire another contractor to complete the job. So do not make that claim! April 7: I texted in the afternoon to confirm the time. You canceled the April 8th appointment citing family reasons. I replied, "No worries and Take care," and offered to move to April 9th or push to the following week April 8: You texted confirming arrival for 10:30 AM on April 9th, then changed it to 11:15 then 11:40 AM. Ultimately, you did not show up and texted that your van had problems. April 9 (After No-Show): I was frustrated after all this and I asked if you were still interested in this job. You replied "NO" over the call and told me to move forward with another contractor citing it requires a lot of work, extra helpers and cabinets being heavy! April 9: I requested the $600 deposit refund via Zelle and the return of the cabinet installation drawings. You stated this would have to wait until the next week. April 17: You dropped off the drawings. I gave you one week from the cancellation date to refund my deposit. May 1: From April 9th to May 1st, you just gave me dates and never made payments. After repeated calls and texts, I received only $250. You claimed Zelle had a limit and required 72 hours. May 7: Received $170. May 15: Received $100. May 19: Received $80. Would you have accepted this behavior if a customer had paid you this way after you completed a job? Please acknowledge that this experience was a complete waste of time. I am not here to defame anyone; I am simply sharing the factual experience I had with you. You may be an excellent woodworking craftsman, but that was not the experience I received! read more

I realized there was no point to ripping out my perfectly solid old wood pantry cabinets and putting in either expensive custom cabinets or flimsy prefab cabinets if I was basically making no layout change. Refacing was a good choice for me, especially when I realized I could also convert cabinets into more functional drawers. Mike is one of the good guys. He is honest, personable, quick to respond and competitively priced. He also made a custom cabinet for me and made a solution for a wall hung vanity in a tiny powder room. Mike remodeled our kitchen and provided refacing of our bathroom cabinets and laundry room using Thermafoil materials. While I initially had doubts about this material based on articles, Mike assured us that he uses a high quality supplier and that the Thermafoil would not only last, but is very low maintenance. So far, what he said has proved true. He did a fantastic job. Mike is old school. He is very knowledgeable, and cares about precision and a quality outcome. He was very exact with his measurements and cuts for the refacing and for a custom trim kit we ordered for the microwave opening. Mike is honest, easy to work with, and always kept the area clean. His pricing was fair. Mike works solo and brings in an assistant when necessary. Working with Mike, you won't get a crew that comes in and slaps everything together in a week. I have hired Northwest Woodworking three times since 2008 for a custom bathroom vanity to a full custom kitchen remodel (including a china hutch, media center additions) and then a few months ago another bathroom vanity. I couldn't be happier with the results. After 15 years, my kitchen cabinets look new, and my bathroom vanity is still in excellent shape. The experience working with Mike was good. He was easy to communicate with, and responsive to my ideas and questions and offered some of his own insights from installing cabinets for so many years. Some just very practical suggestions. The quality of Mike's work was decent. The price was fair. My advice: if you use Mike be sure to HOLD BACK PAYMENT until all work is complete. Details: resurfacing project for kitchen cabinets, total project ~$10k. Mike resurfaced as well as converted a few cabinets to a better configuration for our needs. He reinforced a few shelves too. I was and continue to be happy with the work. However, there were three things that were never completed, and I wish I had held back payment. He never returned to complete the work, despite following up for months. 1) hinge hardware for several doors is of the wrong type and interferes with use of the cabinets. the fix is to replace the hinges on about 6 of the cabinets. 2) holes were put in the wall to provide room for the wrong hinges. these holes were filled in a completely unprofessional way. when you open the cabinets it is glaring and looks terrible. this is the cabinet where we store plates for dinner, so I am reminded every night. the fix is to fill, sand, and paint these holes AND replace the hinges. 3) he drilled a hole for a door pull in the wrong location. He filled the hole but it's obvious and in a highly visible location. the fix is to replace the door. mike said he ordered but never came by to replace. 4) for a large pantry door, it is clearly visible that screws to mount the door were too long and are pushing out from under the finished surface, again a highly visible location. the fix is to replace the door. mike said he ordered but never came by to replace. read more

Mike has over 25 years of experience doing custom cabinets and refacing. We decided to reface our cabinets since our cabinet boxes were in great shape and since they were built in the 80's, better material than what is sold now. We hired Mike to reface all kitchen and bath cabinets to white. He gave us the best price in the south bay. He did an in home consultation and really knows his stuff. He uses high quality materials not the crap sold at Home Depot, Lowe's and HD Supply. Our schedule of completion took way longer than expected but in the end we loved his craftsmanship and work. Before I hired him, I went to another house where he offered the same service 10 years ago--still looks very good. He was meticulous and a master of his craft. Mike just did a great job. To reface the face frame cabinets, he laminated all surfaces (a more expensive solution involves replacing the entire face frame of the cabinets. Mike simply laminated them.). He also replaced two drawers, 4 shelves, and laminated the bottom of all cabinets. The lamination totally transformed the junk, original cabinets, to make them appear as solid Cherry and high quality. Mike is obviously a craftsman, because the finished job is very well executed. Throughout the entire process, Mike was on time, always cleaned up each night (it was a 4 day job), and was highly professional... for instance, he created a sealed-off alcove around the linen cabinets, so the dust created by his extensive sanding would not spread throughout our house. We would recommend Mike for any cabinet refacing/transformation project. read more

Northwest Woodworking did cabinets for my office space as well as an outdoor fence. Both were excellent examples of great workmanship! Inside cabinets were high-grade light Maple and we receive many compliments on them. Our fence outdoors is redwood, adding so much character our backyard.
