I regularly go to this place with my Grandpa as it's his favorite breakfast spot and I've always had a great experience here! Definitely a dive bar vibe in the main restaurant and breakfast diner vibe in the other side. Staff is always friendly and service and food is prompt. I've always loved this place for a good bloody and breakfast. However my most recent visit is what prompted me to write a review. I had THE most perfect BLT. I chose pumpernickel rye for the bread. The toast, bacon and iceberg lettuce were perfectly crisp and the tomato was delicious. Also, the beer cheese soup....amazing! read more

We've been to the cafe side several times and this was our first time on the bar side. We return for the food time and time again. Our favorite is the chicken and waffles which has the best syrup but I tried their special the "Benny mess" last time which had hash browns, scrambled eggs, toast, and hollandaise with diced ham scattered throughout. It was also very good! Portions were good and hollandaise was delicious!! My only comment would be to maybe serve the toast on a side plate as it came already soggy and drenched in hollandaise, not the best for spreading jelly on, haha. The host was efficient but when we sat and she took our beverage order she was unable to answer a question about the special - no worries just might be helpful to have the staff know right away rather than having to go ask what it is. It took awhile for the server to get around to us and the service was nothing special. The place was decorated excellently however with funny little sayings signs hung up on any blank piece of wall with a cabin meets dive bar type of feeling. The place was almost full which explains the lower service but a servers assistant might have been helpful as we never got a refill on any of our coffees, waters, and juices until we asked. It would've been nicer to see a little more attentive service but overall the place was good and the food was good! read more

Food was just ok, we had a $50. Gift card from the builder and when we got there the waitress said we couldn't use it here and that was only for the one in Somerset as far as we know. We might try it again in the future. read more

As a longtime patron of this place it makes me sad to see how its gone downhill. After being really happy to see it reopen, I've noticed that the quality of the food, the drinks, and the staff have all suffered. After commenting repeatedly on flat soda pop out of the gun I was told it was fine so I started bringing my own. After ordering the haddock fillet (my favorite!) one Friday it came burnt because the oil was too hot. For the first time ever I sent it back and got it back exactly the same way. I could work through all of this but the apathy of the new staff was just too much. Breakfast is still good so I will keep coming on the weekend mornings hoping against hope for a change for the better. read more

The owners of Not Just A Cafe purchased the old Perro Creek Tavern. They are offering up top notch made from scratch food and I love every morsel of it. My mom is from the deep south and cooks biscuits better than anybody I know---the little gems they have perfected at this place would give her a run for her money. Shut my hole---sorry mama but it's the truth. We enjoyed the mess which was soft tender biscuits and gravy with scrambled eggs with some onion and peppers mixed in on a bed of taters. Oh it just made our belly really happy on a Saturday morning. Prices are really reasonable also and the coffee was delicious. I think I will be returning here frequently and so glad it is just over the river and through the woods. read more

Went in march 26,2017 at 11:35. By 12:35 we left because our server didn't enter our order. She wasn't even apologetic about it. She just went along taking other orders and left us to rot on the vine. Haven't left a restaurant in years. The server was the one with flower tattoos on her wrist. Went in on Fathers day and the place was packed and the employees were all working their tales off. They were closing early (2pm) so they could be with their dads, or go be dads, totally understandable. I was with my Dad, and we were happy they were open. Food was good, I finished my wifes ruben and it was incredible. Will get that next time! The place is super cool and done up very nice. I like it. Thanks for the hard work guys. Fish fry Friday. All the most popular restaurants are booked. Thought I'd try a fish dinner here. Absolutely' hands down the worst possible fish dinner in the state! We usually really like the food here. Stopped last week and ordered a burger and fries. When the meal got there, the fries were soggy but I ate them. I later realized this was a big mistake as they were most likely not crisp because the oil had probably been turned off after the lunch rush or it was just plain old oil and it made me very sick. I have learned a lesson and will send things back to the kitchen from here on out. Lost my taste for fries for a while. Diner beware! read more

We have been there for breakfast which was good, but we went there (8 people) at about 8 pm last night (Saturday night) which they advertise dinner until 9pm, the kitchen was closed early on a Saturday night as they said they were slow. Very disappointing and unprofessional, I will not go back there for dinner! read more

Not bad, good patio. They need a new drink menu. Biscuits with gravy and chicken was a little strange, delicious gravy but the chicken was a deep fried patty cut in strips on the biscuit covered in gravy so it was a bit bizarre. I would return to try something else. read more

Me and my friend Masha went to not just a bar to have breakfast. They we're only serving lunch at the time but the bartender said we could order breakfast and she would go next door and pick it up for us. Masha ordered the monster omelette and she loved it. I ordered the meat lovers omelette and it was fantastic. I wanted to get the manhole cover pancake which is about 18 inches round, but Masha did not want to split that with me so we each had omelets. I would recommend this place for breakfast anytime. read more

This is a great breakfast spot with a Bloody Mary that is well done, and a friendly staff. The interior is welcoming and they have a gigantic patio. When we walked in we waited to see a bartender for quite a while. Someone finally came to the bar and I asked what their bloody Mary's tasted like and if she had any feedback. Went to not just a bar tonight for dinner. Our service was poor at best. When I ask for the soup at 8:10 the girl told me it was already put away.Pretty sure their menus says they're open till 10 p.m. ordered some hot wings not really sure what I got? they were the farthest things from Hot Wings I've ever seen in my life. I even asked the bartender and waitress if this was your hot wings and they said yes. They were some deep fried drummies with some ranch dressing on them. When I questioned it they said you wanted them hot? Here a bottle of hot sauce to put on them??? Our waitress clearly wanted to go home. she started vacuuming at 9:05 Pm. The only time we saw our waitress is when I would flag her down to come back or when she was looking for payment he came back twice then when she wanted the money so she could get us to leave. Needless to say I will not be back to not just a bar anytime soon. It's too bad too because I like the atmosphere of the place. Terrible Terrible service. There were only five tables on the patio occupied and when we tried to order dinner the server asked us to give her a minute and twenty minutes later we were still waiting. We complained and the "Manager" came out and proceeded to to argue with us about our opinion of their service. All she had to say was " I'm sorry, what can I get you?". I'm sure she is telling herself that she had her server's back, but what she really did was lose customers. We paid for the beer we drank even though they tried to give it to us for free. That wasn't the point. To the owners: we have been going to Not Just-a-Cafe for years, and we were thrilled when Not-just-a- Bar opened. But the cute, snarky attitude that works for breakfast, does not work for dinner; there are too many other place willing to provide good service for my money. You have lost long time loyal customers. Again I tried it today.....not much has changed. The service was slow and inattentive. .the food was some of the worst I've had. The so called ruebe...ishhhh. over cooked corned beef..one 1/2 tsp. Of kraut. I asked for pepperjack, I don't like swiss, I got swiss. When I told the bartender, she went to the kitchen and asked, they said oh its just mozzarella? ?? The toast points were soggy, the dressing was not on there to my knowledge so I got a side. My friend had a pasta dish..it was dry dry dry. So much melted mozzarella you could hard chew or swallow it. I ate less than a quarter of my so called sandwich, no one ever said is it ok? Can I take it back get you something else. Just wisked it away with out questioning why I didn't eat it. Sorry but the old school side of this place is soooo amazing, what is up with the bar side? So disappointed. .I really wanted to like this place, as the ambience is great. But the food needs work. read more
