It's sort of like, with not much room to sit, and not much room to stand, they didn't decide which one they wanted it to be. The ambiance is cool with a vinyl DJ and the pizza oven out in the open. There's some outdoor seating and it's kid and pet friendly until the later evening hours. The cocktail menu leans tiki, and I had the "I Believe In Science" made with gin, Thai basil, watermelon and soda water. It really didn't taste like much. Their pizza menu changes from time to time. We had the clam pizza which was almost personal pizza size and cost a cool $27. At that price, I would expect to be blown away. Overall, the whole experience was underwhelming. read more

I'd been wanting to try this place for ages, and it exceeded my expectations. This place serves sourdough pizza and turns into a wine bar with live music at night, so it was BUSY on a Saturday evening. We waited about 45 minutes for a table (it's first come first serve, so not exactly recommended as a quick dinner spot if you have plans after). But their menu is super concise yet eccentric - I wanted to try everything from the caesar salad pizza to the elote pizza and even the animal style pizza. We ended up getting the margherita, elote, and caesar salad pizzas. The elote was pretty crazy (in a good way), as was the caesar. They nailed it with the flavor. This is a premium dive bar in Santa Monica close to Venice and I really enjoyed the signage outside so I popped in to say hi and check it out, it's so cute! Pizza is pretty good and the vibe, complete with a well-stocked bar including plenty of bourbon, is comfortable. A good sized pizza making space takes up most of the rest aside from the bar, and the rotation of pizzas are generally liberally sprinkled with toppings. Service is excellent, especially with Kent working the bar. Seating is maybe a half dozen or a little more at the bar, a decent sized high-top, some tables, and an outdoor patio that's probably nice in the summer. read more

Tried Not No Bar for the first time since hearing all the commotion about it! It's the newest little disco / cocktail bar in Santa Monica. The drinks are delicious and the pizza is amazing. Bartenders are also super friendly and helpful! My only real qualm is that its very limited seating (first come, first served) and while I know they say they're cocktails first, their pizza oven is literally in the middle of the bar. If you want to be able to come and seat and eat it, you basically have to come at opening or you're SOL because it gets competitive and packed. We got there early and had to check in with people as they were paying for their bill in order to get their seats which is always uncomfortable. But, I feel like they should prioritize tables for those who want to eat so they can? I'm fine to stand with a drink but its impossible to eat a pizza in a packed room with no table I think there's some kinks to be worked out here and I do think once they open their outdoor seating things will improve!!! read more

Great vibes and pizza, but knocking off a star because trying to get a table if you want to eat a pizza is kind of a nightmare. Unless you're a large group, it's a free for all at the bar for seating where there's I think 8 seats so you basically have to stand around and wait for someone to leave. We got here around 6:30 and it was pretty packed. We were lucky and got seats maybe 10-15 min after we got there. By the time we left around 8, there was a line of ~20 out the door. If you're coming for a drink, they have unique drinks and it's great but if you want to sit down and eat, it'll be hard... the pizzas were really good though!! read more

I went with two friends, Maggie and Tara around 5:20 on Thursday and it was jammed. Maybe one seat at the bar open upon arrival and two booths. We opted for full service at the booth and Maya and Cutter were great servers. Usually, I'm NOT a sparkling girl but we went for a natty sparkling red & when they didn't have the preferred option, Cutter brought over another (pictured below and v tasty). Happened upon this new pizzeria/cocktail bar on Main Street in Santa Monica, in the former Isla/Little Prince space. A large domed pizza oven dominates the space, toward the back. The pizzaiola tells us he uses walnut for the wood burning oven. He turns out great Neapolitan-style pizza. Had the Bang Bang, a pie with soppressata, peppers, onions & greens -- it was delicious! They have a clam pizza that I'll have to come back for. Full bar with some interesting cocktails -- another thing I'll have to come back for, since I stayed with the Creature Comforts lager on tap. Love that they have new menu options every Monday to test for their menu and that they have Sunday night specials ($27 for steak frites and $10 for a dirty vodka martini!!!) The people were very helpful and friendly. Great suggestions with the honey comb dessert that was delicious. The honey comb and cookie are both made in house. The place is really cute and a vibe! My friend who lives in the area said they needed this. Crudo was delicious and so was the pizza. Creative cocktails too! I will say this places system is awful and annoying for anyone trying to join for a sit down dinner. It's really hands off and is a fight for the death for a table. They also don't regulate people occupying the tables so people are jerks and linger while others are trying to get service. They need a hostess and time limits. Completely disappointed in the service I experienced this evening during my first visit to Not No Bar. I discovered this bar on ig and was very eager to try it out. I made reservations for 2, hightop seating. Upon my arrival I was seated near the door against a counter. The restaurant wasn't full so I asked the server if I could be seated at the hightop table behind me. Before I could even finish my sentence the server, some guy (idk, we didn't make it that far) began to tell he wasn't sure if he could make that happen in an attempt to manage my expectations. We had a bit of a back and forth that ended with me saying could you just see and let me know. The server goes to speak with the host/bartender. They chat for a bit, I assume trying to help me. The server walks a way and starts tending to other tables. While I wait to see if I can move seats. A party of two women come to the bar, the host ask do you have reservations, they say no. She the seats them at a booth. I was told by my server the booths were reserved for parties of 4 only. I was shocked, why didn't I get this option?! So I continued to wait for my server to come back to let me know if I could move or not. While waiting another party arrives, two guys this time. The host ask do you have a reservation, the guys respond no. She then say that's okay I can seat you at this table, pointing at the table I originally asked my server to move me too. At this point I'm feeling uneasy, disappointed, and confused. While I continue to wait for my server another party comes in, this time a guy and a girl. They don't have reservations and they are sat at the communal table. Another option that I explained to my server that I would prefer than my current seating arrangement. At this point I'm mad. The server finally approaches me and I point out all the things explained in this review and his response was let be check with the server as I'm sure there's reason. But what would be the reason?! I felt like they didn't want to help me I felt like they didn't care to help me bc after he said that he went to help another table. He didn't go speak with the server. Being the only black patron in the bar I felt like I was discriminated against. Once my guest arrived and I shared with her what happened she said let's go. I didn't deserve to be treated like that. As a New Englander, I know a clam pizza when I see one, New Haven has been rated the best pizza in the US for that specific pie. That being said, outside of New England, this is the best clam pizza I've had. Also, just pizza in general. Their crust and body are firm but chewy enough that its perfection is an afterthought to the clam and cheese flavors that permeate the rest of the pie.
