Blown away. What an unexpectedly delicious dog. I've been to Thunderbird more than a handful of times, but never ventured beyond the bean and cheese tacos (delicious btw). But their frankfurter dog is possibly one of the best I've had all year. It's a simple dog: sauerkraut and mustard and green onions. The wiener to bun ratio is spot on and had the perfect snap. Delicious. Service was friendly and helpful. Some of our favorites: the vegetarian burger, tequila sodas, chickpeas, and tacos (of course). The one thing we would not recommend: the tenders. Found this spot on yelp and glad we came in. Lots of seating and service at the bar was quick and friendly. Good music and not too loud that we were able to converse comfortably. My favorite neighborhood bar! Great food, good drinks, and two skee ball machines for the win. There's also a Photo Booth. Taco Tuesday is solid and happy hour 4-7 is decent. Staff is super friendly and accommodating. I've been here too many times to count and I'm not even a big drinker or bar person. It's fun how they have games to play and nice TVs. Dropped into Thunderbird while we were in town to check it out. Parking is a bit tricky and might require a few spins around the block or an uber for that matter. The bar was spacious with plenty of seating, although the tables were a bit sticky. We got there during happy hour (which is between 4-6PM) so we had some options for discounted eats, and ended up going for some guac and chips, wine and some various tacos. The guacamole was nice and fresh and the short rib tacos were the table fan favorite. The chicken taco was unfortunately a bit dry. They have a good variety and well prices happy hour which was what lured us in. Large bar and plenty of tables and booths as well Metered parking out front. Unfortunately they were understaffed and the poor bartender had to tend to all the tables as well but still got our drinks to us instantly and food shortly thereafter. We tried most of their tacos and I was hoping the puffy tacos to be better, more puffy, not really worth the up charge. I love this place! I found myself in the neighborhood at lunchtime. And it had good reviews so I thought I'd check it out. Basically a great bar that serves great food. Can't beat the lunch specials. A killer Cubano sandwich for $8. Beers for $4. And really great fries for $4. Fantastic service while being super chill. There were regulars at the bar (a great sign) and strangers at the bar ended up having great conversations. Everything you want from a great neighborhood bar. Disaster for Dodger Fans! I showed up at Thunderbird an hour early to grab a good spot for Game 2 of the Dodgers World Series. You'd think a big LA bar would be ready for it, right? Wrong. Almost every TV in the place was showing the Oregon Ducks. Baseball? Just one screen. Five minutes before first pitch, the Ducks were still on everywhere. We politely asked if they could switch more TVs to the Dodgers game, you know, the World Series....and were told...this is an Oregon bar. Excuse me? We're in Los Angeles! There were Dodgers fans all over the place looking just as annoyed and confused. We couldn't even hear the Dodgers game the audio stayed on the Ducks. After waiting around and wasting money on two drinks, we finally just left. What a joke. If you're a Dodgers fan (or just expect a sports bar to actually show major games), skip Thunderbird. I've been here twice now. The first time, it was July and packed for a Christmas in July event. The drinks were fairly good, and the crowd was high energy (on the younger side, early 20s or so, not terribly diverse though). There were a lot of people dancing and having a good time. The second time, it was March, and the vibe was more of that of a sports bar even at 10 pm to midnight. Nobody was dancing, but it was still a social environment. I got the corpse reviver #2 for $15, which was okay but had a bite to it. Same thing with the $15 espressotini. They cram this place full of people until it is way past the maximum occupancy. It is both unsafe and a miserable guest experience. The bouncer does not count the number of guests entering. This was such an interesting night. We came in to join some friends, and two of them were a couple of girls who were asked to leave because they were "kissing too much" in an otherwise empty bar (wasn't it for our group of friends spending money and celebrating a birthday). I was very confused at first when the security started shining the light on them, but when asked what was going on, the guy said they were "making out too much and making people uncomfortable" which was kinda shocking considering that the only people there belonged to the same group of friends (which none of them were bothered by them kissing). She went to talk to the bartender girl (Tejah???) who said she was the manager, and was told that they were kissing too much and somehow breaking rules??? (Of too much PDA??) Never heard that one before! But she agreed to leave although confused about this made-up rule. They left the bar and we stayed confused wondering wtf is going on. Then another friend questioned the decision and was kicked out as well. This is not the celebration we were looking for. Very weird and homophobic, right in West LA! Damn!!! Went on a Saturday early eve. The vibe is as if you went to some dudes house for a party, but it just happens to be in a bar. That's fine, except that I expect professionalism and health codes to be met in a bar. The female bartender with beautiful, long black curly hair wasn't even pulled back and dragged over glasses...all bartenders serving drinks by carrying them at the LIP of the glass so that your mouth gets everything that's on their hands....but the waitress wearing a thin, tight, white see through tank top with NO BRA and full midriff showing was insane. Not being required to wear a bra and normal sized shirt AT YOUR JOB in a public bar is a new low in standards. The crowd is, again, like you're at some frat dude's house. A grown man thought it was hilarious to use a laser pointer that projected an image of a dick and balls on other dudes faces. So, that was going on, and then there's the NON SERVICE ANIMAL dog that they allowed, which started barking. Reading some posts here that have actual pictures of dogs in the bar, saying it's "dog friendly"....NEWSFLASH: It's a health code violation. Service animals only. This trend of bars allowing dogs, and getting mad at customers for complaining, is unreal. But, at least the dog wasn't putting it's paws on the rim of my glass. read more

We came here to watch football on Sunday. It was packed, but they did a great job taking care of everyone. The bartenders are awesome. You order at the register, and they give you a number. We got the burrito, and it was actually really good. I would say the food here is higher end than standard sports bar food. They really do a great job.
