Food tasted old.. Saw bugs crawling on the floor and employees not wearing hair nets. I'd think twice

Need to change hours on door. I was there at 11:00 Sunday but discovered they were closed. 3 others were there besides me.

About 15 years ago I frequented Sorella's often because it was only a few blocks from my house, but…read moreI hadn't been back since moving away. That's a shame because I remember them fondly. Early Saturday afternoon i found myself in Liberty and needing a light bite to hold me over for dinner, and realized that they were still around. It truly is amazing that this joint has lasted so long it that location - a one way side street a block from the Historic Liberty Square is certainly not a high traffic or high visibility area. I'm sure the cheap rent has to be a blessing; I only assume that the rent is cheap because the building in ancient, out of the way, decades overdue for a makeover and quite small. I ordered a 1/2 muffaletta sandwich for $5.75 it came with a bag of chips and a pickle spear. Grilled to perfection with plenty of Boars Head meats and olive spread - it was a wonderful panini. I certainly will be returning sooner than 15 years for a larger serving.

We popped in for lunch and had an Italian sub and a Reuben. I liked the Reuben was better - maybe…read morebecause it was served hot? Or because it was a bigger portion? The service was nothing noteworthy- just a gal making the sandwiches one at a time. I was glad we were first in line during the time we were there. With only one person working, it took awhile for some people to get their food. The set up is just a small deli counter and a few bistro tables. If I went back, I'd likely get it to go and eat outside nearby.

The two I assume high schoolers that were working had 2 friends in the store and did not want to be disturbed. This was EXTREMELY disrespectful. Not only did you turn down business but every person I will talk to will know about this. This was an absolute horrible experience and I wish I could score this a 0 out of 5 stars.

My 1-star review is solely for the manager on duty today, 1-9-25. Her communication skills are…read moreunacceptable, and from my experience, she has absolutely no managerial competence. I entered the store and purchased three apples (see the attached photo for flavors). The cases are filthy, and there are no labels inside to identify the different apples. The young man who initially assisted me was kind but unaware of the flavors; I was told the one with graham cracker was S'mores. I then asked about the chocolate (milk or dark), and he didn't know, so he asked another young lady who was also kind but uninformed. At checkout, the manager--who I did not realize was the manager--asked if I wanted her to write the names on the bags. I agreed. When she labeled the one I was told was S'mores as cheesecake, I questioned why I was given different information. Her only response was that perhaps because it has graham cracker. I told her that the store must put labels on the cases to avoid confusion. She kept saying, 'yeah, yeah.' I will teach anyone at any time how to speak to me. So I taught her and then I directly asked for the manager, and when she claimed to be the manager, I asked what she would do with my feedback beyond just saying 'yeah, yeah.' She then responded that she would note it and inform the owner. To the owner: Is this the standard of operation at your store? Simple procedures like labeling cases should be mandatory when offering multiple apple varieties. A cheat sheet for employees would also ensure everyone is on the same page. This level of service is unacceptable.
