Way overpriced for what it is. Speakeasy vibes in a subway....smell of subway lingers within the bar. $24 for an espresso martini - that's the price you pay for a lavish rooftop in NYC , this is a bar within the NYC subway - pricing does not make sense to me. Staff is friendly, drinks are good - but was it worth the $110 bill for 4 drinks.....hmmmm read more

One thing to know about me is I love a speakeasy. This one is in the cut of one of the busier areas in the city. My friend and I were not disappointed at the vibe of the place. The staff were all friendly and the bartender was very knowledgeable. We ordered two drinks one with passionfruit and one with mezcal. They were presented beautifully and the flavors were amazing, they were mixed very well. To cap off the night we ordered a lemon drop which was also quite good although not the best I've had. The music at first was r&b/hip hop oldies but quickly turned into house and EDM type music which isn't really a favorite of mine. Although the place is basically in a train station the bar itself was small, clean, and a great vibe. On a Friday night at around maybe 8/9pm I would say that the place did not feel crowded and we had room to just be. I would definitely go back as I enjoyed my time there. read more

One of my girlfriends and I decided to hang out after work on a Friday night and started here. This cocktail bar is literally located inside the 50th Street train station, lol. You can easily miss is it. It's the perfect size and not crowded at all. I got the Sandy Cheeks and the Surfs up. Both were super delicious. You can literally taste the freshly squeezed watermelon juice in the Surfs Up. Thank you to Cyllan, our mixologist! So nice and welcoming. I'd certainly come back! read more

Every drink I have gotten here has been magical! Bartenders know their stuff and are super helpful in selections that will make you happy. It gets quite crowded as the night goes on-- so if you don't like loud-- come early. read more

This was a great little bar that we made our final stop at during a bachelorette speakeasy bar tour. I loved the subway type entrance, it wasn't very crowded which was fine. The drink options all looked really good and were decently priced. I loved the layout of the bar with the bright lights and the bottles, it was pretty quiet here. We snacked on nuts and olives while sipping down our drinks; our waiter/bartender guy was very nice. read more

Speakeasies... really do love that word but recently it feels as though any kind of subterranean bar that is slightly out of the way is granted this designation. What's most important are the drinks and I must say they definitely delivered. We tried a few and stumbled out of there into the scorching heat, comfortably inebriated. One criticism I have is that the bar itself is "inside" a train station.. which is correct... but they leave the door open to the restaurant which takes away from the appeal of being an actual "speakeasy". It's a fun spot, but way out of the way and way toooooo close to Times Square. read more

Wow. Was super excited to try this place. Gentlemen sever was beyond rude. Impossible to actually order a drink. Bartender made zero eye contact, like, be there in a minute, thanks for waiting. Instead. Rude server man told my husband he didn't like where he was standing. We sat in a small room towards the back which was packed and a bit tight. No one came to serve us which is why we went to the bar. A couple was getting up and we motioned to move and got yelled at. Fine. Bye. Have never felt so disgusted with such awful service. Beyond rude. Don't go here if you wanted a fun experience. Get new servers who have patience and don't tell you , "that's just how I talk" REALLY? Possible reverse discrimination? Yup. I would recommend this bar 100% Omg! Our first time here in NYC Manhattan and love this place. Nothing Really Matters Bar on 7th Ave & 50th in NYC Manhattan. The owner is awesome with 2 baristas making top notch drinks!!! Sweetest owner and baristas. Loved it. We're from Cali enjoying our time in New York! went last night. It was in the old Siberia spot except the bartenders insisted it wasn't and that there was nothing there previously. Siberia was about as deep but 2x the size of this bar with a band room and on the other side a make out/drug room on the other so I dunno know where they think it was. also I guess the owners came in with a divining rod to find water sources that apparently didn't exist but I swear where there (the bathroom and the bar) were. Eh, what do I know? I was always drunk then. But I dunno. The anger from the bartenders (who were barely out of the shoot when Siberia closed about 2002) put me off. It does seem like it will be a success and the host/waitress was lovely. Cocktail menu, good music, friendly guests though none of them would have ever entered Siberia, the diviest of all dive bars of all time (Rudy's is fancy compared). Good luck to them but please stop being all angry that the customers (they told me that they always hear that) tell them that Siberia was exactly in that spot. I'm a bartender and arguing with the guests is a no-no except to cut them off. LOL. read more

Stumbled upon this cocktail bar while heading to the train. The music drew us in. The main reason I am giving this spot only three stars is for the following reasons: 1) the cocktails are $20 a pop (which is ok), but if you're charging $20, You should have a fully functioning bathroom. A toilet without a seat to accommodate women is deplorable. Thanks God my quads are strong 2) $50 or a $100 you can get a caviar dip, but it's served with a $5 bag of chips (Doritos, flamin hot Cheetos, or Ute) that's just tacky! You want me buy $100 dip and serve it with $5 chips! Come one now! 3) one of the bar tenders was a tad snarky. I won't be going back. read more

Just happened across this leaving the subway station and realized we'd heard about it we decided to give it a try. 4:30 on a Saturday and we were the only people there, which was great. It started filling in after that, but was nice that we were able to grab a spot at the bar when we walked in. Very cool vibe, and the drinks were fantastic!! read more

Strangely they somehow achieve multiple vibes all at once. With a location tucked away inside a subway station, it is speakeasy. With $20 creative craft drinks that deliver, they earn the title of being a cocktail bar. (I recommend the Kiss & Tell - a wonderfully smoky bourbon drink with a touch of coffee). And with music blaring, they become a quasi-club, despite certainly having no room for a dance floor. The true achievement here is that they're somehow able to live in these multiple worlds without harming the other. read more

I never would have known about this place had my friend not told me about it. It's tucked away on the SW entrance of the 50th street 1 train station. Based on the location, I expected it to be touristy or stuck up but it was neither. Everyone, including the person outside, was friendly. They have a nice selection of cocktails and bottles. We were chatting with the bartenders who were friendly and fun. Shout out to Maggie for introducing us to rum and showing us it's delicious enjoyed alone. Previously I only had it mixed in with piña coladas. read more

Cute speakeasy with great vibes. The place is a bit hidden but not hard to find if you go down the stairs at the 50th street 1 train station stop. Just go down the stairs and then behind blacken doors is the entrance. There will be a guy standing at the door to check your ID. It does feel a bit hot inside in the summer time but a bit expected when you're going downward into the subway station haha. read more

We had a fantastic time at Nothing Really Matters. Ronnie, who is the general manager, and her entire staff are just delightful, the drinks are top notch, and the place has an amazing vibe to it. I especially recommend the Aviation cocktail. We will absolutely go back next time we're in NYC. Went here last night for my friend's birthday. Such a cool cozy spot and an awesome concept. The drinks were very good and our waitress was a total sweetheart (I should've gotten her name). There was also a male waiter who was rude though. Very nasty I don't know what his problem was or why he even addressed us when we already had an amazing server but overall a very good experience. Get there early if you want a spot it gets very busy!! Also, sounds weird but check out the bathroom. It's pretty cool. read more

Absolutely fantastic service throughout the evening. I was fortunate enough to have the Head Mixologist, Cyllan Hicks, crafting my cocktails and providing the story behind them. His background from Jamaica through bartending and selling to high end country clubs across northeast America all comes through in the recipes and presentation. Authenticity through and through, from Caribbean roots with rum and tropical fruit flavor influences to the jazz, hip hop and reggae pumping in the atmosphere. Highly recommended. read more

Nasty attitude from the server with the fluorescent, highlighter yellow hair. As my friend and I were being seated at one of the tall tables, my friend politely said excuse me to her to get to her seat (she was blocking the seat while talking to the customers sitting at the table next to us). Fluorescent, highlighter yellow hair server turns around and barks 'just a minute!' and rolled her eyes at my friend. It was pretty bizarre behavior. It was our first and will probably be our last time going there. We went to the pizza place next door first (same owner) and had a pleasant experience with the food and service but definitely not here. The vibe seemed off, especially with the fluorescent, highlighter yellow hair server. Plus, the drinks were just ok. 'Nothing really matters' there for sure. read more

Really cool concept to put a classy bar inside a subway station - and as a lover of the MTA, once I heard about it, I had to go check it out. Drinks are pretty pricey ($18 for a cocktail), and the Fearless Girl that I ordered (DON'T JUDGE!!) was kind of mimosa-esque, with pear + grapefruit flavors, but not my favorite drink. There is a good amount of space here, especially note there is a side, private room that is a good place to chill. A novelty to visit when in New York surely! read more

The decor is a homage to the works of Nikola Tesla, which can be seen in the subtle electric theme throughout the space and the naming of the cocktails. The space isn't too large - the bar and stools take up most of the space but they also have some booths/tables. The place looks great. The cocktail menu is very creative - I got one of their seasonal mixes that was actually two drinks in one. The main cocktail was meant to be sipped first and they provided a small glass of beer to be sipped after. The name escapes me but it was very good. Since we had cocktails at dinner, we only stayed for one round. Service was good, and overall I enjoyed my time at Patent Pending. I would definitely return to explore more of their menu.

If "cool speakeasy vibes" translates to you as walking through a urine-filled subway corridor, having unfinished ceiling bits falling into your drink and stepping on one of the largest cockroaches that ever lived once inside...then by all means have at it. Luckily they keep this place pitch black so you can be less aware of what other creepy crawlies might be moving about. I've been a patron for decades, but this was my first visit in about two years, so I was curious to see what had changed. Quite a bit, apparently. The place was bustling, filled with a lively crowd of mostly Gen Zers, along with a sprinkling of commuters and after-work drinkers. I was served promptly and, as luck would have it, scored a coveted seat at the bar. My Negroni was excellent--properly balanced, well chilled, and exactly what I wanted at the end of the evening. Then came the check: $24 for one Negroni. I understand paying a premium for the setting. The Campbell is one of those uniquely New York bars where you're quite literally having a cocktail inside a piece of history. But $24 for a Negroni feels excessive. At that price, I'm not sure you're paying for the cocktail as much as you're paying admission to the room. And what a room it is. The Campbell dates to 1923, when railroad executive and financier John W. Campbell transformed the space into a lavish private office and entertaining suite. Despite the name, it was never actually an apartment. Campbell's office was designed to resemble a 13th-century Florentine palace, complete with a 25-foot ceiling, hand-painted details, leaded-glass windows, a mahogany balcony, and an imposing stone fireplace. The space has had quite the New York life: Railroad tycoon's private office broadcasting studio police holding area forgotten space legendary cocktail bar. After Campbell's death in 1957, the room fell into disrepair and went through several decidedly less glamorous incarnations before being restored and reopened as the Campbell Apartment cocktail lounge in 1999. It became a Midtown institution, particularly during the 2000s and early 2010s. Following a lease dispute, it closed in 2016 and reopened as The Campbell in 2017. Today, the historic architecture remains the star of the show. There is no denying that sitting at the bar in this magnificent room, tucked inside Grand Central, is a quintessential New York experience. Great atmosphere. Great history. Excellent Negroni. Prompt service. But $24 for a cocktail is a tough sell, even in Manhattan and even in a room this spectacular. For me, it was one and done.
