Such a cool concept!!!! They have performances at two separate times at this lounge and it wasn't hard to make reservations. The fact that they had a pianist and singer but all the staff there also sings and has the opportunity to sign as well is super unique and I love that these artists get to showcase their voice while also working.

This is a trendy restaurant with some innovative/nouveau picks. Food - The lobster escargot is good, interesting to try once to see if you like it. The burger was great, and their pistachio creme brulee is okay. Service - Fine, they have this interesting thing where you can pay online and just leave once you're done, no need to ask for check unless you really want to. Overall, this place is good.

I had my eye on this place for a few years but never got around to dropping by. An afternoon girls brunch was the perfect reason to check them out. It was a first for all of us. Ragtrader can be described as an upscale bar, with indoor or patio seating. Entire ambience was very quaint. Bo Peep is it's counterpart which I believe is akin to a speakeasy. We sat in the patio area considering it was 65 degrees. It was absolutely delightful and comfortable. I arrived last (thanks MTA) and shortly after, we placed our entree order. Aperol Spritz accompanied my meal which was Brussel Sprouts Salad with Kale, Apples, Quinoa, and Grilled Chicken. Very good. As an FYI for me, it was a bit challenging to select a dish from the menu since there were a lot of fried options and red meat---two things I don't eat, especially the latter. My friends enjoyed their selections as well. I shared a dessert with my friend --chocolate cake lit on fire with a dollop of ice cream. Decadent. We stayed long after we finished our meals and were never rushed. Friendly service, good food and charming atmosphere are the reasons to give them a try.

Heads up - need separate res for speakeasy. We attempted to go downstairs after dinner & weren't able to be accommodated. No big deal, just didn't realize we needed a reservation. Totally on me. Dinner was good. Our waiter was friendly & attentive. He was kind enough to sneak in our happy hour requests at the last minute. Steak frites 7/10, French fries 8/10, burger 7/10. All sides are ordered as extra for meals. Would come back. Really cozy inside.

Always a good time at Bo Peep! We had dinner upstairs which was delicious. Food was quick and so fresh. I got the salmon which was cooked soooooo well. I also had a gin martini which kicked my butt all the way downstairs to Bo peep where I had a couple more. Service was friendly and the entertainment was so amazing! Definitely a fun night!

Been to both the upstairs and downstairs now. Overall would say the food and drinks are ok. The downstairs for some reason i thought was going to be more of a jazz Bar but it's an artist doing cover songs. It was fun and good though. Definitely a touristy spot.

Vibrant and trendy vibe. Decorated beautifully. We were seated immediately for an after work 5pm reservation. The place was packed. I only give 4 stars because the seating is packed tight. The food was fantastic. We arrived an hour before the close of happy hour so we were able to enjoy appetizers and drinks at the discounted price. For drinks we ordered the Foxy (Sangria) and the Maison Caliente. Both were delicious. From the Happy Hour menu we ordered the Shishito Peppers and the arancini. Both were perfect. I had the Market Fish (Branzino) with the bok choy and grain fried rice. It was scrumptious. Definitely recommend this place.

My coworkers and I came here for dinner on a Tuesday night. It was packed so luckily we made reservations. Nice restaurant. The bathrooms were clean and there are single person toilet rooms which was convenient. Our waiter was very attentive refilling our drinks. We ordered a bunch of appetizers including the fried cauliflower, chicken wings, tuna tartare, and chips with spinach dip. All were pretty good but my favorite was the tuna tartare. The tuna almost melted in ur mouth. For my main, I got the market fish of the day which was branzino, it was well made and came with risotto with bokchoy topped with sweet soy sauce. Overall a very good meal.

I came here to celebrate a birthday and we had a really nice evening. I did not catch the name of our waiter but he was *excellent* and attentive. For having a large menu, there were very common bar drinks that were not on the menu like espresso martinis, but he let us know these could be made despite not being on the menu. The dinner menu clearly denoted which items were dairy free, gluten free, vegan, etc. As a large group of 10, the kitchen got all our our food out at the same time and the plating was simple but inviting and appealing. I had the market fish specialty of the day and it was delicious. The vegetables and warm grains were a nice complement and I really enjoyed it. The interior was very dark and someone crammed to navigate between people to walk to tables or to the restroom. It was nice decor with dark wood and library aesthetics, with mismatched chairs and some people on low settees or couches, but it was a little too dark to read menus or see those around the table in the corner we were sat. It might be a slightly more date-night vibe than birthday party.

We sat upstairs at The Ragtrader, and it truly feels like it was designed as a shooting location for Mad Men's 2020s-era spiritual sequel: vintage, moody, cinematic, and full of character. Even though we didn't eat this time, the menu leans gastropub/brasserie with pizzas, steak, dinner salads, and plenty of comfort classics. I would've loved to try the lobster escargot, so that's on my list for next time. What we did indulge in were the mocktails, and they were genuinely impressive: balanced, refreshing, and thoughtfully crafted. I had the Charleston Smash (pomegranate, blackberries, lime, mint, Fever-Tree ginger beer) and the Paloma Fizz (Seedlip Spice, lime, agave, Fever-Tree sparkling pink grapefruit). Both were bright, flavorful, and honestly just as satisfying as a full cocktail. You can tell the bar team cares about creating a real experience for non-drinkers too, which I appreciated. But the real star of the night was the holiday ambiance. Try to get a table downstairs, even though upstairs isn't bad, it's just not AS over the top decor. There's nothing quite like Christmas in NYC, the lights glow brighter, the city feels cozier, and Ragtrader captures that magic instantly. Upstairs we could see down below the place had been transformed into a winter wonderland of twinkling lights, lush garlands, candlelit warmth, and charming vintage touches that nod to the building's history. Perfect for a festive night out between Bryant Park Winter Village, Herald Square, or Madison Square Garden. Whether you're meeting friends, planning a winter date, or just escaping the cold, The Ragtrader feels like a holiday retreat you'll want to step into again. Highly recommend during the holidays and I can't wait to try Bo Peep!

What a great place near one of the busiest places in NYC! Our server was amazing and so patient with us. He was friendly and attentive. The food was amazing and tasted fresh. They gave us some pumpkin munchkin looking snack and it was the bomb. Eggs Benedict was made to perfection. Eggs were perfect, sauce was cream and tangy. I like the addition of spinach to help me get my veggies in. My friend's order chicken and waffles and the B.L.A.T sandwich. Everything was great.

Went back to The Ragtrader with a larger group and had another great meal. We were able to try a few additional items and found a couple of new favorites. For appetizers, in addition to the Tuna Tartare, we had the Shrimp Summer Rolls and the Brussels Sprouts. The Shrimp Summer Rolls were good but of all things it was the Brussels Sprouts that stood out. Even a person in our group who generally does like vegetables loved them. Great burgers as we have had previously plus had a solid Lobster Roll and the Sesame Soba Salad was terrific. For desserts, in addition to the excellent Sticky Toffee Pudding and the Lava Cake, we also had the Tiramisu which we also like very much. Continues to be good food in a lively, fun atmosphere!

I came to the Ragtrader Bo Peep restaurant for a late, Monday afternoon lunch. We had reservations but the restaurant wasn't crowded at all. I'm curious to come back and try the "Bo Peep" portion of the restaurant which is a speakeasy located downstairs. I imagine that they get quite crowded in the evenings. The menu had nice offerings that provided a little something for everyone whether you are Vegan, a Pescatarian or Omnivore. The prices are comparable, nothing outrageous. The portions were good and the unisex bathrooms were clean, cute and unique. Everyone enjoyed their meal and I can definitely recommend the fried buffalo cauliflower appetizer. It was amazing and definitely shareable! So flavorful!! My aunt had an entree omelet which they were kind enough to customize for her and even switched out her accompanied salad because she doesn't care for Arugula, so they brought her a different fresh salad with mixed greens. My uncle ordered a grilled Salmon dish, which he said was cooked perfectly and they also ordered 2 glasses of white Sangria each, which they both enjoyed. I ordered the fried Branzino sandwich. I've never had Branzino fried and this was also absolutely delicious!! The brioche bun was soft and moist and it was topped with just enough tartar sauce. The sandwich contained 2 filets stacked on top of each other, so it was quite filling. I forget what it came with but I was avoiding any and all fresh greens due to the parasite bug, Cyclospora (sp)?, going around and whose cause is believed to be transmitted through fresh greens like lettuce, cilantro, fresh basil, etc... For those reading this review in June/July 2026, you'll understand and know EXACTLY what I'm talking about and by NO MEANS am I implying anything against this establishment or its cleanliness practices. This was just my own personal stance to avoid all raw, fresh greens and garnishes. My aunt and uncle were obviously fearless, and didn't share these concerns, nor did either experience any nausea or gastric discomfort. LOL!! Overall...I thoroughly enjoyed my afternoon here and would definitely return if I was in the area.

Ask the Community - The Ragtrader Bo Peep

Anyone know what time the kitchen closes?

Does everyone in the party to be present to be seated?

    Nope!

Should we eat dinner in the main dining room or the mezzanine of rag trader?

It is very loud in the main dining room. It will be quieter on the mezzanine.

Can we bring kids 5 and 2 yrs?

Yes, you can. It is kind of loud. I would definitely make reservations. Bo Peep I would not take kids there, more like a piano bar. Rag Trader would be fine.

Are there any fans or cooling elements on the enclosed patio in the summer during really hot days?

Yes. It was surprisingly cool last Friday when were there. It's not freezer cool but comfortable.

I'm visiting from Arizona and forgot my proof of vaccine card. Is this still required?

    Nope....but just don't have Covid please :)

Do you prefer to sit on the enclosed patio or the dining room?

Dining room is beautiful. I never been on the patio

Do they take reservations more than 30 days in advance?

    Is the outdoor patio heated?

    Yes it is heated.

Hey I was trying to find a table at bo peep for the next month but on the website everything is fully booked, is there a way to get a table?

Hello, Thank you for reaching out in regards to reservations for BoPeep. We are currently fully booked for the month of December and not taking anymore reservations, but you…

Is there a Happy hour menu?

    Yes

Is this place opened during covid?

    Yes

What kind of music do they play and are there bands that ever come?

    Rock

Is this a good solo place?

I like being alone so anywhere is good to solo for me. However, I went here for an early lunch with my wife. If you mean can you go solo without being creeped on or if it's good for singles I'm not sure.

Is it appropriate to bring my parents here for brunch?

Yes, It is perfect. They will love the decor, beautiful old school vibes.

What time and days are Happy Hour?

They don't offer a happy hour, which is totally okay because their cocktails are worth it. It's my favorite spot to splurge on fantastic craft cocktails.

Do you guys have the drunkin donuts for dinner?

    Every night.

I noticed another party of two sitting in one of the rounded corner booths. Later, another couple was seated in the other rounded booth, but they eventually asked to be moved to a regular table when a third person joined them. Meanwhile, we stayed at our tiny table despite having a reservation. It was a little annoying, but I wasn't in the mood to make an issue of it. I had been really looking forward to this meal, but unfortunately I was disappointed course after course. We started with the Moules Frites, which ended up being the best thing I ate all night, and ironically, it wasn't even my order. My husband ordered it. I was most excited for the crab & Maitake Croustade, but if you had served it to me without telling me what it was, I would have guessed it was tuna salad. The crab didn't taste particularly fresh, and I couldn't find any trace of the maitake mushrooms. I couldn't see them, and I certainly couldn't taste them. We also ordered the steak tartare. The quality of the beef was good, but it was overwhelmed by acidity. If I had closed my eyes, I wouldn't have known I was eating steak tartare. And that's saying something because I actually love acidic food and tend to prefer more lemon and vinegar than most people. Next came the entrée-sized gnocchi. It was just okay. The gnocchi had a decent texture, though they weren't the light, pillowy bites I was hoping for. Unfortunately, the dish was buried under so much pesto that I couldn't taste much else. The portion was also surprisingly small, too small to feel like an entrée, in my opinion. For our mains, we ordered the Steelhead trout and the Hudson Valley duck. The trout was cooked beautifully with perfectly crisp skin, but again, it didn't taste as fresh as I expected. That's something I'd be more willing to overlook at an average neighborhood restaurant, not at one with Brass's reputation and price point. The sauce with the roe was delicious, but I didn't understand the braised cabbage alongside it. It didn't seem to complement the fish. The duck was another disappointment. The skin was floppy instead of crisp, and part of the sauce had already dried onto the plate by the time it reached the table. The sauce itself, however, was excellent and ended up being the highlight of the dish. I also didn't understand the grilled romaine. It tasted fine, I like romaine, but it felt like an oddly inexpensive vegetable to pair with such an expensive entrée. By the time we finished our mains, there was no point in asking for the dessert menu. We were ready to leave and get dessert somewhere else. Overall, it was a disappointing meal. The one bright spot was our server, who was friendly, attentive, and exactly what you'd hope for at an upscale restaurant. Great service, unfortunately, wasn't enough to make up for the food.

Other than the tuna tartare (didn't feel fresh) everything we got was nice - nigiri combo, kimchi fried rice, kings toast.... Nice drinks, nice atmosphere, good food and great service!!

I've been wanting to visit this hidden piano bar in NYC for the longest time, and I'm so happy I…read morefinally did. Between the live pianist, dimly lit space, and cozy atmosphere, it's a nice little escape from the busy streets of NYC. We started with their Tiny TINI Hour, ordering the Espresso Martini and the Keys & Blossoms cocktail alongside the K-POP Fries. The Espresso Martini easily made its way into my Top 5 Fav Espresso Martinis, while the Keys & Blossoms was light, slightly sweet, and incredibly refreshing. The K-pop Fries were truly an experience with the fresh cut kimchi, chili mayo, cheese, cilantro, and scallions, every bite making you crave more. For dinner, we both ordered the Bar Steak served with crispy potatoes and an incredible Argentinian chimichurri that tied the whole dish together. I love any form of potatoes but there's just something about whole potatoes and steak that hit differently for me. Of course, I couldn't leave without trying the Bodega Cat cocktail, served in an iconic New York blue coffee cup. It reminded me of a coconut espresso drink and was such a fun touch for the night. We also had the Whole 'Nother Sonata, which was just as delicious. We were way too full for dessert, but I love a perfect excuse to come back. Whether it's date night, girls' night, or you're just looking for a cozy cocktail spot with live music, So & So's deserves a spot on your list.

They play a mix of classics and personal works and throw in some latino compositions. For food, we got the prix fix menu of a starter, main and dessert for $60. Beyond worth it! They also have a robust cocktail and mocktail menu. Something for everyone. I ordered mini lobster rolls, sesame tuna and boozy bread pudding. Lobster rolls were petite but mighty good, shiso leaf in the cucumber salad was a nice touch and the bread pudding was to die for. I could barely finish the food altogether the portions were very generous. My friend had steak and I definitely took a few pieces as well. Overall it's super modern inside, comfy and with great food to accompany beautiful music. Top of the list for piano bars!

All the raw options we sampled were fresh and beautifully presented. The entrees were fantastic and the staff easily accommodated my daughters with an off menu gluten-free pasta substitution. As we had our cocktails we discussed going somewhere else as the vibe was flat. But my husband convinced me to stay as it's already 8:30. We head upstairs to our table, only to be greeted by another less enthusiastic server. He never told us his name or offered up any menu highlights. I was excited to have bone marrow and escargot. Both failed epically. The bone marrow was inedible as it was like cold custard. Escargot had zero flavor and a real lack of garlic and good butter. Tasted more like vegetable oil than good butter. We shared the lobster pasta entree. Tasted more like Mexican goulash. No Italian flavors to be found in the sauce. Never once did the nameless waiter stop and inquire about our meal. Just all around a poor experience and a disappointing Friday night. There are far better places that appreciate your patronage. We will not be coming back. Not worth it.
