Unlike the others I'm pretty happy here. It might be a bit confusing for some who are used to having immediate access to a live person at their doctors offices. I like the telehealth option, which requires some self management. Phone calls if not answered do have a 24 business hour return which can be up to 3 days if you do the math. I believe that's because they have a good system via email and online scheduling to help yourself. Emails are almost always returned same day. If I had to guess dealing with psychiatric patients over the phone is just overwhelming, but I am able to get to a live person when needed, and billing always picks up immediately. Billing was willing to 3 way call my insurance to get everything covered. Thx!! You will need to know how to schedule appointments online at their website and in advance, this isn't the place for people who wait for the last minute. I've only been asked to drug test once I got on schedule (I,II) meds, and honestly doing outside drugs will affect your treatment; so I get the policy. My only confusion was when they let an NP go, she just sort of disappeared and no showed my appt. But I returned to seeing Dr A, and he is very invested in my care and is an active listener. He's empathetic to side effects and it's been nearly a year of stability for me which is unheard of. I'm so thankful. read more

Gave me a prescription for a Klonopin, then refused to refill it because I rescheduled my appointment one time. I was unaware of the risks and the pretty much guaranteed physical addiction that this would cause. Not to mention that suddenly stopping is DANGEROUS. You should all look it up because I had no idea. What the hell is wrong with these people? Like, I get it if I flaked a bunch, but 1 reschedule, and your highly addictive, massive withdrawal side effect medication is cut off. This place is a joke. I'm 75 years of age. I have needed medication for my issues since I was 45. They left me with no prescriptions. I had very bad reaction. They wouldn't see me because of confusion with billing and they were billing the VA who had paid for many many years. The billing department is so rude. This business is rated C plus by the Better Business Bureau, which means they are not an accredited Better Business Bureau business. Their office staff is so rude. I called to make appointment filled out 15 pages of stuff. 3 days in a row someone is calling my cell number not my house number to talk with me. I called saying they have been calling for 3 days it was a Thursday they are closed on fridays, well with attitude she says some one will contact you for an appointment. No warning that they won't take patients who intake any type of marijuana product, despite recreational weed being legal, and including CBD. This office is absolutely insane. I also can never get them on the phone; I called and someone actually picked up and immediately hung up on me, as if they picked the phone up and set it back down. I'm not even a current patient and was calling to cancel my initial appointment, because these people literally will not see you if you smoke weed. Wow. They also seem to leave extremely personal responses to patients on reviews and that's a really disgusting practice. (Check Google.) These people do not care about mental health. Please get over yourselves and realize addiction and mental illness basically go hand in hand, and if you can't handle a patient who smokes marijuana, you should consider possibly just dealing with children since you can't handle anything even slightly difficult. People with drug issues deserve treatment too and it's gross you'd imply otherwise and force people to take drug tests and go to detox centers in order to be seen. read more

I don't go into the office since Covid. I get a phone call every month. She is strictly about the medicine. She is trying to give me medicine that she thinks will work. I've been on at least 10 different meds. So far none of the meds are helping. I'm still pretty depressed with a lot of anxiety. I didn't know Dr.Ashamalla doesn't see you in person other than the first time. I really need to see someone in person. I now have to find a therapist or some kind of counselor that will listen to me about my concerns. read more

If I could give 0, I would. I've been a patient for a few years. Appointments are very hard to get. The staff never answers the phone. Wait times are extremely long when you do get an appointment. I've been calling for over two weeks and no returned calls. I'm now extremely low on medicine and cannot get anyone to answer me still. 100% would recommend finding another doctor. read more

Wow! Don't even waste your time with this "doctor" that absolutely could not care less about your time or mental health. You will wait and wait and the wait some more, with no explanation as to why you're waiting. He won't talk to you, call you or email you, because he has a lack of respect for you and your time. He will send messages that you can't even reply to. These messages come well after your appointment time, and they include some ridiculous demands for you to be able to see him. I've never encountered something/someone like this in my life. It is the worst form of "mental healthcare" out there. The incompetence is strong amongst the entire staff. The girls in the front office try, but they can only do so much and they will discuss your medical records in front of anyone and everyone, until anyone within earshot will know your entire medical history. They try super hard to change your medications and if you let them and then don't like it and want to go back to what you've been taking that works, he will make you schedule ANOTHER appointment to see him, just to get your meds back to the way you want them. So unless you like paying for unneeded visits, waiting way beyond your appointment time, not getting to see the doctor after waiting and all the other things mentioned....just save yourself the time, money and sanity and just go somewhere else. This has been an unbelievable experience with this doctors office, that I don't ever want to experience again. I'm trying to get help with my mental health, not be stressed out to the point where I feel like I might have a stroke, because this doctor just doesn't care. read more

This is NOT the place to go for any kind of "care". I've never had a worse experience in any health care setting. And PS, this doctor will drug test EVERYONE, no matter what you're being seen for, and the very first time you come in. Do you have another doctor who prescribes something he doesn't like? He'll tell you that he won't treat you until you "detox" off of whatever controlled substance anther doctor finds necessary for you to take, and he'll tell you it must be in a hospital setting. And if you disagree, he'll open his office door and throw you out in five minutes, in front of his staff and other patients. And that is after you wait about five months for a new patient appt. Very good soctor. I've seen Dr. Ashamalla 3 times so far for monthly visits. We had an initial consultation and started some meds and he helped me prepare a mental health plan to overcome my severe anxiety. I'm still struggling but I'm doing much better thanks t him. Part of making this work has been understanding staff in their office. I have had such bad anxiety that I couldn't even bring myself to show up for a visit at other offices. I had a preexisting condition that can be aggravated by certain medication. The PA prescribed me a medication that aggravated my tardive dyskinesia and they ignored the symptoms I was having. Del Webb's ER told me they couldn't help with medication issues. Finally, I flew back to the east coast and sought care at Yale New Haven hospital where I spent two weeks in the hospital correcting the mismanagement. Their "mistake" caused a huge upheaval in my life and career. read more

I had a very negative experience with this clinic. In my opinion the clinicians I worked with were impersonal and unsympathetic.

Would give 0 stars if I could. Arrived for appt on Friday and was told Dr was sick and would have to reschedule. Mind you; this was 10:15 and I had already spoken to the office earlier that morning about paperwork. They reschedule me for Monday. The office was packed with people who came after me and an hour into my wait the receptionist is calling to verify my benefits very loudly. Then she takes a call and argues with her cell phone provider, again, loudly. It was not a place for healing. I waited two hours past my appt time to be seen for 5 minutes. In the middle of those five minutes the door opens and he is told he has patients waiting!! And then the door closes. I tried to explain my OB was just starting me on meds for post partum but needed someone to manage them and I am sensitive to medication. He hands me a paper that doubles the depression med (that hasn't even kicked in yet.. bc it's been one week and it takes 4-6 wks) and he gets rid of the anxiety med (the only thing that is fast acting and trying to help) and prescribes me with a heavy sleeping pill that I'm allergic to and wouldn't take anyway, with a newborn. He didn't even bother to ask about a history or he would have known that bc I am super sensitive to medication . When i said I couldn't do that he snatched the paper back, upped the depression med, didn't refill the anxiety and removed the sleeping pill and opened the door and gestured for me to leave. The receptionist saw me in tears and said well, some people love him but some people hate him. It was a waste of my copay, my time spent away from my newborn and it was very pathetic to treat people who are seeking mental health help this way. read more

Extremely long wait times for confirmed appointments. I went here a few times and my average wait was 1 hour even though I had confirmed appointments. Crowded waiting rooms. The reception staff behaves as though patients are a nuisance. The Office Manager is so rude and is easily annoyed. She had my insurance information entered incorrectly and when I attempted to tell her that I don't pay co-pays on my HDHP, she told me I didn't understand my insurance!! In the end (after every person in that tiny waiting area heard my private information) she had to concede that I was correct. She was behaving as if I was trying to get away with something!! The NP for the practice is a nice lady who seems to be more than a bit over her head when it comes to actually having any insight into patient needs. If I was able to, they would get a zero star. My husband, a new patient from Hawaii establishing a new psychiatrist. So we gave them a call and the first thing they ask is what is your insurance. So of course I tell them what my insurance is and then they say OK and make the appointment. Four days before my appointment I get a phone call saying that they do not except my insurance after I told him that I have Medicare and United Health Care. The lady then proceeds to tell me that there's no way that they said they accept our insurance And pretty much called me a liar. I didn't tell her ma'am something is not right because when I called you the first thing you asked me for was my insurance and I gave it to you and now you're calling me a liar, then this lady named Barbara jumps on the phone saying she's a manager and says that we're no longer going to see you as a patient and hangs up in my face. First of all I haven't seen you yet, and second of all I called back no one answered the phone I left a voicemail and I told him that I am suing them. After she heard the message she calls me back and they asked me why am I still filing a lawsuit, she says that I was disrespectful to her medical assistant but she was the one disrespectful to me and she was sitting right next to her but I guess you have to CYA. If they she says yes we do take your Medicare insurance, but we don't take your access which is United Health Care, and the access insurance by law, you can't deny me service with Medicare or with UHC (access), That's negligence. Sorry not sorry the lawsuit is still on and it is in the process and I don't think that the doctor is going to like it that they are being sued for your disrespect and discrimination against me a patient that hasn't even been to your office yet.
