Dr. Fix is amazing! My 10-pound Border Terrier is usually a biter, but with Dr. Fix, he stays calm and cooperative--he even opens his mouth without a fuss, which is a miracle for us. This place is amazing. I took my dog in for a consultation for hernia repair surgery and the front desk staff (Ms. Karen) as well as the vet technicians and Dr. Fix himself we're all spectacular. These front desk people are super rude. They have zero customer service skills. Asking them to do anything is like them doing a favor for you. My dog is in critical condition and I needed my medical records faxed to the new clinic. And the lady at the front desk just jumped off the phone and hung up on me really quick without letting me say anything. Worst vet ever. read more

Let me start by saying Dr. Fixx is a great vet. Took great care of the dog I adopted from BARC. She was an older dog that came to is sick. Dr. Fixx helped nurse her back to health. The problem is getting to see the doctors. The receptionist has a bad attitude and very rude to the customers. Because of Dr. Fixx, I tolerated her attitude for 5 years. Finally got tired of the poor customer service up front. Had to go find a new vet. read more

On April 3, 2015, I met my appointed time of 1700 at Nottingham Animal Clinic on Memorial Drive for the euthanasia of my terminally ill dog Digo. She had been diagnosed earlier in the week by Dr. Howland as having an oral metastatic melanoma that had already progressed into the lymph glands. It was progressing rapidly, as her closest lymph node has enlarged from pea size to grape size in just five days. We were in agreement that euthanasia was the only recourse. Prior to this, not only had I witnessed the peaceful euthanization of my ex wife's dog in January 2015, I make it a policy to read up on any procedures that may cross my path from time to time. And while I saw anecdotal references to procedures that had gone wrong, absolutely nothing I read prepared me for what was about to occur. I signed the liability agreement and she went briefly over the procedure, which I had already familiarized myself with online. As the vet prepared the injections, the assistant prepared the catheter in her right front paw. The vet entered and apologized for the delay, as they had to quickly perform an emergency euthanasia prior to my dog's procedure. Digo was placed on a blanket and the first of two injections followed, ostensibly to get the dog to relax. As the second injection was administered, the syringe gave way under pressure, causing about ¼ of the contents to be injected, the rest of the contents spraying over myself, the assistant & the vet. She immediately left the room for about 3 minutes by my watch, during which time Digo reacted to her injection of the first drug, and possibly the amount of the second drug. She struggled to get up & move. Both the assistant & I held Digo on the blanket. The vet re-entered the room with a second syringe and quickly inserted it into the catheter. She administered the second syringe very quickly, about one half second. At that moment, Digo lifted her body off of the floor, started shaking severely, then arched her back & threw her head up and let out a horrific howl, the likes I have personally heard only on occasions when an animal has been struck by a car or other traumatic incidents. During this extremely emotion outburst, the vet repeatedly told me that the dog was not in pain, merely experiencing what she referred to as a "respiratory release". I am unable to locate the term "respiratory release" in any medical lexicon I have since read. About pain. As a retired State Trooper Supervisor with 20 years on the highway, I have experienced and witnessed a bit of pain. What I saw coming from my dog is referred to as a "Death Rattle", no two ways about it. My dog Digo however, has never whimpered, whined or cried out in pain the entire 15+ years she was alive. Even having a terminal case of cancer was not able to get her to cry out with normal handling and treatment. She only barked at strangers, which diminished greatly with the onset of blindness & deafness. I cannot possibly comment on the vet's training and knowledge of the procedure of euthanasia, however after the syringe sprayed the room with the sodium penthiolate and perhaps to feeling rushed, she forced the plunger to empty the syringe in one half second or less, which may have introduced the very viscous liquid in the dog much faster that normal. I removed the failed syringe from the office just to see how viscous the liquid was. It was quite thicker than water & very sticky. For person half my age trying to tell me that what I was witnessing is not what it very obviously is belies the facts and quite frankly is delusional. She can try to tell herself what she thinks it is, but I have seen enough in 20 years of law enforcement, and 60 years of life in general to know that my dog died in extreme, life sucking pain and absolutely nothing can or will change my mind or that fact. She also told me that her dog experienced a similar demise, which means to me that she might not have the procedure perfected. Several papers I read suggested that the attending veterinarian should always carry a second dose or vial of the drug on them for just this kind of emergency. This vet did not, but I'll bet she will in the future. She may be an excellent Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, but on April 3, 2015 she was responsible for a very horrible death of a wonderful companion and very sweet little dog named Digo Dunn. It utterly leaves a bitter memory of a loyal and loving dog that represented one fourth of my entire life, that wanted only to be with her Master, and all I wanted was for Digo to pass without pain. It is not a memory that I cherish to take to my grave. read more

My family and I have taken our pets here for 20 years due to the excellent staff and care that we receive at Nottingham Animal Clinic. Our sweet family dog Casey has been in dog-Heaven for five years now and the they all still remember her. They are friendly, engaging, and their love for animals truly shines through. We always feel welcome and end up staying a bit catching up and chatting with everyone. They put both owners and pets at ease. When we put Casey to sleep, Dr. Fix shed tears with us. When we had to make that difficult decision, Dr. Fix's empathy was greatly comforting to my family. If you adopt from a shelter, the wellness visit is comped. They have permanent four-legged residents and temporary ones that they care for until they can find a good home for them. Seriously, BEST. VET & STAFF. EVER! read more

The people who work at Nottingham Animal Clinic are very compassionate and nice people, however their veterinary skill is poor. More than half the time, they make things worse for your pet. For example, I brought my dog in with a dime-sized wound in her leg. The vet and vet techs shaved the wound, ripping skin off and ripping the wound open until it was the size of two quarters. The don't have enough skill to realize that shaving a large wound is a very bad idea. If they'd told me what they were going to do, I'd have said no, but instead they took my dog in the back and I didn't find out until they came back. Another time, they stitched a wound with dissolvable stitches that didn't need to be removed. I brought my dog back for a follow up visit and the vet didn't read the record and didn't remember that the stitches would dissolve and did not need to be removed. But they took my dog to the back, away from me, and the vet removed the stitches without pain medicine. My poor dog suffered needlessly. Again, they're very compassionate and nice people. I hope they get some training and develop their skills. read more

I went in to get a refill for my dogs heart worm pills and the receptionists informed me I hadn't been to them in 2 years so they wouldn't provide me with the medicine. When I stated that we'd been there recently for rabies vaccines they replied with a snarky and unprofessional comment. This is not the type of customer service one would hope for, but unfortunately I've come to expect here. Not going back! read more

I recently took my dog to another local vet to have two lumps checked out. That vet told me the lump was just a nipple. When I requested she aspirate it anyway she said it wasn't possible. I decided to get a second opinion from Nottingham because I didn't feel comfortable with their diagnosis. Dr. Fix took us immediately that day even though they were booked for the day. They even stayed late for us. He was able to aspirate the lump in two seconds and within five minutes he could tell the dog had cancer, not a nipple. They found five more lumps on him, all cancerous that the other clinic had totally missed. Dr fix performed surgery on my dog and got clean margins and saved my dogs life. He came in on weekends, holidays and days they were closed just to rewrap my dogs leg. The care we got was amazing. Every person in the clinic knows my dog by his name and stops to say hi as soon as we walk in. Porky avidly rely loves going to the vet and refuses to leave because of all the attention he gets when he is there. I will never trust another clinic with my dogs again, I highly recommend Nottingham! They are awesome! read more

I've never left a review for a vet before until now. I called asking if I could bring my dog in for an anal gland expression- this is something that can be done within minutes. Lady who answered the phone couldn't have been more rude. Immediately turned me down for this service and kept saying we don't have time for that? Are you serious? It takes less than 5 mins. I just moved here from Austin so I'm also looking for a new vet place I can trust and go to..not sure how people run their vet businesses here but this was just an awful phone experience and to imagine if I actually brought my pet there, no thanks! We changed from our previous vet, which we absolutely loved, however, his practice became too busy. We were waiting for over an hour, at most times, to at least 45 min for just a tech appt! We met Dr Fix, and his staff, around Sept 2015. We immediately felt relieved to have a vet, and staff, that was warm, friendly and welcoming to new patients! We had a Corgi, Rowdy, that was completely healthy at his first visit to Dr Fix. Come January, our beloved Corgi begin to experience neurological issues such as unsteady gait and whining on touching his back. We took him immediately to Dr Fix which thought he might have a herniated disc on examination. We chose not to do X-rays at the time. He was put on steroids and we waited for a week to see if he would improve. He did not, his condition worsened. We went back and Dr Fix referred us to Gulf Coast. We went there immediately and after numerous treatments, and procedures, found that he had a progressive neurological disorder that we did not want to treat with further invasive and costly treatments. We went back to Dr Fix and said that we wanted to euthanize. Our Corgi was mentally aware of everything but, could no longer walk on his own. On the day we took Rowdy in, the staff was very empathetic and loving. The techs took him back and placed the IV and brought us into the room for the euthanization. Dr Fix was there the whole time. He injected the medication and stayed with us in the room. It was the most peaceful process I had ever been through with a euthanasia. I had experienced several before this. I had some that were not pleasant with other facilities!!!!! I am very thankful for the care we rec'd at Nottingham! We continue to go there to this day! read more

I have used this clinic for the past several years and have had no complaints, however, this past February 2010 I had an experience which has caused me to switch to another vet permanently. I took my dog to be spayed on a Monday last February. Dr. Skip spayed her and charged me $700. He said she would be lethargic for a day or so and would perk up after a day of recovery. He said if she was not back to near normal by Wednesday to call. She was down all day Tuesday and still not feeling well on Wednesday morning and the stitches had become inflamed and swollen. I called Dr. Skip's office on Wednesday as I was worried about her condition. The reception advised Dr. Skip was not in and if the dog needed attention i should take her to the Emergency clinic on Blalock and I-10 (not affiliated with Nottingham Animal Clinic). I did take her to the emergency clinic. They assessed her, did a lot tests and prescribed some antibiotics and charged me $800. She fully recovered a day or so later. I saw Dr. Skip again a week or so later and explained how I had spent an additional $800 in addition to the $700 paid him. He did not offer any solution or even offer and apology for not being available to treat her on a weekday two days after he had spayed her. I have since had my other younger dog spayed by Echo Lane Animal Clinic and the the total cost was only $300 vs. the $1500 I spent as a result of the Nottingham Clinic. Dr. Skip and the Nottingham Animal Clinic charged me far over the going rate to spay a dog and then offered no follow-up care and I was required to spend and additional $800 at an emergency clinic. read more
