. My dog hasn't been to the vet in 2 years due in part to my lack of finding him a new vet. The one he had been seeing closed their offices around the start of Covid and I let it fall by the wayside. I finally prioritized his health to get him back on track with his immunization and needed to get him microchipped so I went on YELP and another search engine to find a place with good reviews. I wanted to make sure wherever I took my dog, other people respected and trusted. I found Garden Oaks and I scheduled an appointment. They were able to get his records from the previous vet. They were all so kind and attentive to Harvey. They made him feel welcome and safe and established trust right away. Dr Vega was amazing at explaining everything I inquired about and took the time to make sure all my questions were answered. Desierae was so kind and professional. On intake she addressed all my concerns to take to Dr Vega before seeing Harvey. And she was very personable. It really provided a calm environment for not only my dog but for myself as well. I highly recommend this office. The staff are warm and professional. They address what you need and don't try and sale on on what you don't need. I'm so happy Harvey has a new vet that we can trust. I was also informed that there are 4 doctors in house so I know he will always be able to be seen. And Garden Oaks also has a partnership with a few emergency services. If I ever need them, I'll benefit from a discounted service by being a customer here. If you are looking for a new Vet, please check them out. Simply amazing. I can't say enough positive things about Garden Oaks.

    Spacious clinic room!

We had a great first visit at Garden Oaks Veterinary Clinic. Our dog loved the staff and he and I were treated so well by our vet tech and Vet. Staff was knowledgeable and they outlined costs of multiple options for us so we could go into treatments and procedures with no surprises.

This review is years overdue. The DVM Stephen Chmaitelli just passed away and I could not be any more heartbroken to lose not only a great friend, but the person who I would trust mine and my dogs lives with. Stephen brought on the best of the best veterinarians, techs and office staff in the greater Houston area to run his clinic. He took so much pride in his office and work. Every single employee takes their time to make you feel like you're a part of the family. They do not rush appointments. They listen and take great notes. They brainstorm between the vets to find the optimal solution. They are absolutely without a doubt the most consistent and always get my pups back in top too shape. I owe this clinic for finding out my baby kenzos health problems, after being mislead, seeing 5 different vets, spending an astronomical amount of money and always leaving with more questions.. stephen came out of the next office after overhearing a conversation I was having with another doctor about my kenzos problems. He diagnosed with on the spot. He knew exactly what it was. A simple test confirmed it. He was so brilliant and light years advanced when it came to vet medicine. The clinic remains in good hands though. The other doctors there are wonderful. When your dog children's lives are at stake, never skimp on their care.

I have a secret to kinda confess... My new fur baby (named Chi-Chi Manolo Guapo Vincente Fox El Nino) hails from Mexico. I found him scurrying around an abandoned field and was determined to bring him back to the US of A! After a few days of wining and dining him at the W Hotel in Punta de Mita, cruising the beach in Sayulita, bar hopping and even hitting up a vet to get vaccinated, I still had to find a vet for him in the States. My other fur baby Tex already has a vet, but I wanted to take Chi Chi to a vet a little more known within my network, and so my girlfriend recommended I take him to see Dr. Stephen K. Chmaitelli at Garden Oaks Veterinary Clinic. So glad I did! Not only has it been easy to get a check-up appointment and schedule his surgery to get neutered, but the office staff is friendly, professional; the office is clean, convenient with parking and free coffee. (Plus, they're right next to Cottonwood, so after an appointment, it's convenient to hop over next door for a beer and the dog-friendly patio.) I really appreciate the care and attention Chi-Chi has since received from Garden Oaks Vet Clinic. He was recently pegged by a car over a holiday weekend, and when Dr. Chmaitelli got word, he instantly called to check on him. I never had a vet do that, and "all the feels" were had thanks to that call. 5-stars, GOVC!

Our goldendoodle, Roo, always gets excited for every visit to GOVC. It always speaks a lot when your pet associates happiness with a place, esp a vet clinic. Upon getting Roo, my wife searched for great clinics amongst the doodles of Houston. GOVC kept being mentioned and being we are in the Heights, it was an easy decision. The front desk team always welcome us very professional and friendly. The DRs are always educating and caring. Ms. Madeline is Roo's favorite vet tech!

After moving to the heights I was in search of a Vet that would take care of my lil pup Tyler and treat him well. I took him to a vet closer to I-10 (No names, no shade) and after a few rough visits (one in which they missed his vein and I watched my pup bleed), I made the change to here! From the first visit Garden Oaks has been nothing but helpful, professional, caring, and honest! I appreciate everything they've done to keep Tyler healthy and could not recommend them enough! We switched over from trifexus to sentinel and they've taught me a bunch about caring for my lil guy. Attached you will find a picture of Tyler for no other reason but to show you tyler.

I came across this practice on Yelp and noticed so many pet owners praising Dr. Clive's genuine, heartfelt care--and now I understand why. From the moment we walked in, the staff made me feel like my dogs were their top priority. Scheduling the appointment was easy, pricing was very transparent with no surprises, and everyone went above and beyond to ensure Flex and Apollo were comfortable. Even when we had to wait on the radiologist to review X-rays, I never felt rushed out. Instead, I was given time to sit with my boy and take in what I thought might be one of our last moments together. Thankfully, we received some hopeful news, though we still have a mountain to climb and a CT scan ahead. Through it all, I could see and feel how much Dr. Clive and his team truly care about their patients and the people who love them. I highly recommend this practice to anyone looking for compassionate, thorough, and trustworthy veterinary care.

A Diagnostic Virtuoso: The "Mozart" of Veterinary Medicine…read more As a retired Clinical Director who has spent a career hiring and evaluating medical professionals, I have an exceptionally high standard for clinical competence and professional integrity. For months, I searched for answers for my 123-pound gentle giant, Axel. I took him to several well-known clinics in Houston, but regrettably, they failed to find even the single mass I had discovered myself. They simply fumbled the opening statement. Then, I found Dr. Anna Parham at PetCare Express on Holcombe Boulevard. Dr. Parham is a true prodigy of her craft. While others relied on expensive overhead and corporate checklists, she used her hands and her clinical intuition--the soul of medicine that is clearly in her DNA. Within minutes, she identified three separate masses that the previous clinics had entirely missed. She performed a single FNA (Fine Needle Aspiration) to confirm the nature of the primary mass, while her expert clinical touch immediately identified the others as typical, benign lipomas. She gave us the unremarkable exam result we had been searching for. From the moment we walked into PetCare Express, the entire staff was exceptionally warm, friendly, and helpful. In a high-pressure field, their genuine caring and support created a seamless, stress-free environment for both me and my dog. Dr. Parham found in minutes what high-priced hospitals missed for months. She recognized a client who values quality and met that standard with an honest, transparent diagnosis. In a city of systemic predatory patterns, Dr. Anna Parham and the team at PetCare Express are a sanctuary of honesty. She is young, brilliant, and possesses a natural mastery of medicine that mirrors a virtuoso. Axel walked out a perfect patient, and I walked out knowing I have finally found the successor to the great legacy vets of Houston.
