I ended up not purchasing a dress from here because the dresses were mostly out of my budget (I was upfront with my budget upon booking and arrival). Despite the ladies being aware of my budget and that most of their dresses were out of that range, the two ladies working were so so sweet and helpful. I found my dream wedding dress here this year, and the entire experience was absolutely lovely from start to finish. A few days after my initial trip there, they emailed me saying they had just gotten a new shipment of dresses and there was one they thought I'd love. It's been a couple years but I feel like I'm ready to share my experience here. First, they do not have any pretty sample dresses above a street size 6, so be aware when you come in. Second, don't come in here unless you are skinny and beautiful. I went to try on dresses with my maid of honor, who literally looks like a model and they gushed all over her. I guess my main tip is that if you are skinny and beautiful, this is the place for you. If not, spare your ego and go elsewhere. As I mentioned already, when I came in for my appointment, they kept gushing over my friend. As a bride, it was super discouraging to hear them keep asking my friend if she was getting engaged anytime soon and that she would need to schedule an appointment here because she's so beautiful and all the dresses would compliment her. Also, I am in between a street size 4 and 6 yet they only had the most matronly dresses for me to try on. Even though it was not my style, they tried to convince me to try on a dress with some sort of additional bolero/long sleeve top to go over it. This was my first dress shopping experience and I felt so ugly and fat. I cried when I got home and years later I'm still thinking about this place and how ugly they made me feel. read more

This review is long overdue.  I can't say enough about Saida and Chantal and how wonderful my entire experience was at Nouvelle Vogue.   After visiting several other bridal stores, I found my dream bridal dress at Nouvelle Vogue.  They have designer dresses which are truly unique and one of a kind.  Their dresses are incredibly exquisite, dreamy and romantic. With all the stress of planning a wedding, Saida and Chantal made sure to make my experience finding a bridal dress as pleasant as possible.  They were incredibly accommodating, and even opened the store on a day they were closed so that I could come in. During my appointments they were incredibly patient, provided honest feedback and never pressured me to make a decision.   With only a few months to plan our wedding, I was stressed about getting my dress within such a short time frame.  Saida and Chantal assured me prior to ordering, my dress would arrive in time for the wedding.  After I ordered my dress, they kept in close contact with me and updated me with its expected arrival. Just six days before the wedding, I tried on my dress and felt the length was a little long.  I couldn't reach the seamstress since she was out of town, so I contacted Chantal and she was able to put all my concerns at ease. She contacted their seamstress and I was able to get my dress adjusted the following day.   All in all, I always felt well taken care of at Nouvelle Vogue. I couldn't recommend them more! read more

This review is long over due! A month ago I came across Nouvelle Vogue while looking for boutiques in the peninsula. I was a little hesitant as my overall experience dress shopping was a hit or miss previously and I still didn't know what exactly I was looking for. I got a bit jaded towards the whole experience so came into my appointment with a blank slate. As soon as we walked into Nouvelle Vogue, I felt like I was transported to Paris! The shop is brilliantly lit with natural light coming in from all the windows and bouncing off the many mirrors. There were dresses on each wall full of the most lavishing material. I knew right away this was not your typical dress shop where the fabric was synthetic, itchy, stained or super heavy. The dresses here are rich and full of life, each with their own personality. I was finally excited to partake in the whole dress fitting process! Saida and Chantal - these ladies are soo sweet and knowledgeable. They asked me what I thought worked for me and what didn't work for me, but they also suggested designs and dresses that I would have never thought to try on. I felt at ease with them as I tried on my first dress. And boy was she a stunner! If that's what it felt like to try on a dress, then I was down to try on more! My next dress, well that was the winner. From the second we zipped the dress up, I knew - this was THE One. My bridesmaid and I spent about 2 hours in there even after I had already found the dress and it was well past my fitting time, just chatting with the ladies! Soo refreshing to have such intellectual conversations and feeling the love and support from these two. So far, I've tried on 30ish other dresses and spent countless hours browsing websites, and no other store or website has had a collection of dresses as exquisite as the dresses here. If you value GOOD customer service, please stay away! I was entangled in a 1.5 year ordeal of trying to get my full refund of $2100 back. They agreed to issue a full refund to be paid back within 60 days but never actually made any refund without repeated phone calls from me to request refund "payments" and ended up holding onto my money for over 1.5 years due to poor cash flow issues which were completely unrelated to me as no order had EVER been placed on behalf. They were hard to reach via phone /email and when I did speak to them, they would say they would "try" to issue a refund within the next week, which only sometimes happened. After checking with my credit card company, if I didn't receive anything, the phone call chase would start again. Lasting over the past one and a half years. We got down to $1100 when they completely stopped responding to all of my voicemails and emails. I sent them a demand letter, threatening to sue in Small Claims court - this worked to elicit a response and they called me explaining the situation, their intent to issue a full refund still and then credited me $500. For the final $600, they stopped responding again so I sent them another demand letter. No response. So I filed a Small Claims Court and served them the notice for the court date. No response. Not until 7 PM the night before the court date, anyway, after i had spent the week preparing all of the evidence and documentation AND had no way of rescheduling the court date, I get an email stating they had sent me an invoice letting me know the "cancellation fee" was $600 but because of the circumstances, they were going to "honor" the full refund. A receipt was attached with the remaining balance refunded, but of course I can't confirm these things with my credit card company until 24-48 hours later....after the scheduled court date. Bottom line: stay away if you value good customer service because this is not how they choose to run their business. And next time, don't try to be nice and just file a dispute with your credit card company. Edit in response to the reply from the manager - I know this was several years ago and I didn't mean hold off on posting this until now but I personally spoke with Chantal on many occasions and to flat out deny and say it is the wrong store as if you didn't remember being served court papers and making a refund a night before you were scheduled to be in court? Seems consistent kind of behavior. Also, to be fair, they were kind enough to agree to a refund, and I made sure I had not caused them to be out any money on behalf by reaching out to them as soon as possible due to significant life events. However, little did I know the stressful ordeal I would be going through the next 1.5 years. read more

If you are looking for a dress that feels truly special and different from everyone else, this is your shop. Basic brides need not apply. It is totally worth the trip down from San Francisco. I tried on 90 dresses during my search- that's right, 90. I saw a lot of beautiful things at a lot of different stores in SF and NYC, but kept coming back to my Cymbeline of Paris dress at Nouvelle Vogue. I just saw the dress for the first time since I ordered it 7 months ago and am SO HAPPY with my decision. I cannot wait to wear it for my wedding in 2 weeks! The dresses aren't cheap ($3500+) but you get what you pay for. Absolutely stunning fabrics, trims, and embellishments. And amazing construction if you care about that sort of thing. Many of their dresses are worn in multiple pieces (but not separates), making the gowns easier to alter and much lighter to wear. I'm a design nerd, so I got really excited about that- I hadn't seen anything else like it. Plus European designers you can't find anywhere else in the Bay Area. I originally came for their Yolan Cris gowns I'd been stalking on Pinterest but fell in love with a couple Cymbeline dresses and a Francesca Miranda. Inventory is on the smaller side, but very edited and lots of special pieces. I've seen some negative reviews about attitude and exclusivity, but I did not experience that at all. Chantal and Saida were very kind and gave me great, honest feedback, especially when I had to shop alone without my mom or family and really needed it. They are right to say the dresses are for a specific customer- maybe it just came across the wrong way. I can't imagine any offense was ever meant because these ladies are just lovely. They were not pushy at all- I came back 3 times before putting the money down for the dress and they gave me no grief about it. Small note if you do buy your dress here- mine did take quite a while to arrive. Most of the dresses are coming from Europe, so keep that in mind. I was stressed about the timing, but Chantal and Saida were pros about it and made sure everything got here in time and got my fittings done in 2 weeks. Their dresses are incredible - well designed, beautifully beaded, well made, and worth the prices they charge (which start around $2500 and go up to $6000). However, I couldn't really personally justify spending so much so I gave up the most beautiful dress I found for a $750 one elsewhere. The Nouvelle Vogue dress was beautiful, too - just the right sort of 1930s inspired romantic beaded dress I was looking for. (It's a Jenny Packham in case you want to find the same.) All the dresses are imported from Britain and France, and Chantel, who assisted us, is the owner and gave everything a chic French touch. They have great bridal accessories, too. I particularly loved a flower/feather comb that had just the right 1920s feel. The dressing rooms are more like elegant salons in the back of the store, and are *beautifully* appointed. They are out of the league of every other bridal salon I visited. Chantel understood my style immediately and brought just the right dresses for me to try on. Even if you're not sure you can afford the dresses, it's worth a trip here with your mom just for the experience. I accompanied my friend to try on some gowns here. I gave her my appointment since I had already ruled out Rosa Clara and Jenny Packham gowns for my own wedding dress. I sent them an e-mail to inform them that my friend would be taking my spot but they never responded. Just in case, I came with my friend. She tried on a few gowns, but she didn't find anything she was in love with. It was her first time trying on gowns, and I think it was a little disappointing compared to my own experiences. First of all, they didn't have that many dresses and styles to choose from. I also didn't like how they only had 1 couch near the dressing rooms. It was a little hard to get comfortable because I had to stand the entire time I was waiting for my friend to change. I also felt like I was kind of invading the other party trying on dresses. They were sitting on the couch closest to the dressing room. I had no where else to stand or wait bear the dressing room. Such a poor set up. I started to walk around the store, and I was a little annoyed that one of the other ladies tried to sell me accessories. I wasn't there for me, but for my friend. I'm not sure if she worked there or was there for the trunk show? They asked what my friend's budget was, and to accommodate her budget they said they would sell her the sample that was extremely too big for her. I'm sure the alterations on that wouldn't be cheap either. I just thought that option didn't make sense? I expected more from this place, especially because I read so many wonderful things about this place. However, I can't help but compare it to the other places I've been to for my own bridal fittings. The appointment was only 25 minutes! That's the shortest I've ever experienced before. I'm a little disappointed but I've definitely had much better experiences elsewhere (variety of selection, customer service, better spaces for bridal fittings and friends, etc..). I purchased my Cymbeline gown and bolero jacket from Saida and Chantal, and could not have been happier. The gown was actually the first one that I picked out, but of course I had to drag myself (and my mom, as well as a girlfriend or two) to various stores on the Peninsula and in the city before realizing that I was comparing everything else to that one dress! Our wedding was on a ranch but had the theme of 'rustic elegance'. I think they had a hard time visualizing what I wanted at first with the gown, but when I brought in the accessories (vintage gold and crystal jewelry that I found at the Hillsborough Antique Show and beaded khussa flats) they understood. It was stunning. The bolero arrived in their studio after I had ordered my dress, and we added it on...I wore it for the ceremony then went strapless for the reception. I did have a wardrobe malfunction with the corseting, but my amazing girlfriends managed to McGyver it so that there were no issues. After our wedding, I took the dress back to Nouvelle Vogue. Granted, it took ages to get it back, but that was the fault of Cymbeline and not Novelle Vogue. In the end, they had their seamstress take a piece of the silk from another gown's hemming, and created a new corset ribbon for me. Saida and Chantal are gracious, warm, and truly define 'ladies'. I went into one large shop in the city during my 'adventures' and had to deal with an obnoxious 20-something who couldn't even bother to get her shoes on while she 'helped' me try on $3,000++ dresses. This is not the case at Nouvelle Vogue. They take a genuine interest in your event and your look, they are gracious, and they never hard-sold me. I would love a reason to wear my gown again, I absolutely loved it. It fit better than any of the heavy American gowns that I tried on. The silk was amazing, the dress was gorgeous...I can't praise Nouvelle Vogue or the gown enough! read more

Ah...I hope it's okay to give five stars even though I didn't end up buying my dress here! But I did find a dress that was a serious contender! So serious that I brought 3 of my friends with me for a second try on. We all adored the dress - it's just that the one I decided on was one that I adored more. Nouvelle Vogue is a classy place - from the way it's set up and decorated and the line of dresses they carry to the superb service Chantal and Saida offer. I had been to 4 other stores before I hit Nouvelle and I hadn't received nearly as patient, gracias, and truthful service at those stores as I did at Nouvelle. They even let us take tons of photos. The selection of designer lines is limited here but they stock a wide variety of dresses within each of those lines and dress prices run from $2500 upward. My favorite: Cymbeline of Paris!! I wish these ladies all the best in their business - and I've highly recommended them to the other 3 brides I know. read more

Saida and Chantal were so incredibly kind, attentive and helpful. I went to Nouvelle Vogue for my second wedding dress appointment, and found the dress! I wasn't expecting the find "the one" when it came to a dress so I can't express how pleasantly surprising the experience was! This shop is small and intimate, and you get to be the only one there during your appointment! Saida and Chantal are very thoughtful in their assistance. I had some idea of what I wanted, but they showed me a few things that I loved and never would have picked myself! Overall it was a wonderful experience, and they seemed so genuinely excited for me when I found my dress! Now I just have to figure out how to be patient while my dress is being made!! read more

Please read They have select dresses that range from very very small to about an 8. These are just sample dresses. The ladies here were amazing. The place was small with about 30 dress in unique styles but rather all white or basic. It was hard to really picture yourself in a dress when the dress doesn't fit you. Over all I felt comfortable and enjoyed dress shopping. But be advised this is a boutique type place. read more

I just got married in October, and had a wonderful and very stylish experience at Nouvelle Vogue! I've heard other reviewers say that the prices are a bit high, but I did not find them any different than other high end bridal shops in San Francisco area. Though the selection is small, all the gowns and accessories are very chic and very European! This is definitely the place to go if you want something a little different than the average bride. Plus, both Saida and Chantal are super nice and very patient with all their customers. When the veil I ordered didn't arrive on time for my hair and makeup trial, they even let me borrow one for a few days, no questions asked! Whenever I emailed them, I got a prompt response as well. On my wedding day, I got many compliments on my dress and was even asked to provide the name of the designer so that they could look her up! Overall, I would definitely recommend Nouvelle Vogue to anyone wanting a stylish and personable gown shopping experience! read more
