We took our cats here for four years, then they closed/ renamed without a notice, and none of their phones worked when it was time for our cats regular checkup. The vet we saw made us feel guilty about one of the cats being overweight and for not scheduling a dental visit for $1000 for dental cleaning and tooth extractions. It worked out for the best because we found a new vet that understands we cannot live with our 10 year old cat when he is "on a diet" as well as a low cost facility that does dental work. read more

If you love your cat enough that you don't blink at spending 600 dollars on tests that very well might be unnecessary, go right ahead and take everyone else's word and bring your cat here. They are very nice people. They probably provide excellent medical care. If you do care about your money, read on: My cat\ has a long-running issue. The vet outlined multiple possible solutions to my cat's problem. One was medication, another was expensive tests. Of course, she scheduled the follow-up appointment first, and e-mailed us an expensive estimate later. I suggested that we try the medication first, since I didn't want to pay for expensive tests. She shot back that there was a potential issue with prescribing the medication, since it could have effects on the cat's liver (the cat is showing zero symptoms of liver issues, so worrying about the liver would be purely precautionary). I already started to feel like I was at the auto mechanic, but since I was already roped into working with this vet, I asked how much it would be for just the test that made sure the medicine was safe. She reduced the estimate by a couple of hundred dollars, but kept several tests that had nothing to do with the liver on the estimate. She explained that this limited battery of tests might miss some important stuff, so she didn't recommend doing the tests that way. She also patronizingly said that I must be confused in explaining that she couldn't "rule in" trying the medicine unless she "ruled out" the medical issues that the tests were looking for, a concept that doesn't make any sense whatsoever. Look, it's possible she has some kind of code she follows. If the cat is symptomatic of anything, she must test for whatever that is before trying medication. I see how that could make sense. Why waste time trying medication that might not work when there could be an underlying health problem that could be killing your precious cat? I have an answer to that - its a fucking cat and the tests cost hundreds of dollars, that's why not. read more

This was the either the fourth or fifth time taking my cat here since we first got him about two years ago as a kitten. I can legitimately say this was the only time I've ever had a not particularly good experience here - every other time would have been a five or maybe at worst a four, but yesterday it was bad enough that I felt it was worth it to leave my first Yelp review. Firstly, despite the fact that I had to make an appointment for 6 PM on a work night because scheduling here is so busy, we managed to get there a full fifteen minutes early like good patients. It didn't matter because it took us a full 45 minutes to be seen - an entire half an hour late for our appointment. It didn't appear anyone really cared much beyond a perfunctory "sorry for the wait, things have been crazy this afternoon, etc." I think part of it may have been that the people ahead of us may have been either late or hadn't been there before, because a vet tech came out and had a somewhat lengthy conversation about their cat's health, which admittedly sounded somewhat rough for the poor thing. What made it worse was that the building was very warm the whole time, which brought me back to my college years of living in sweltering brick buildings without A/C, but this place has A/C because you can see the dial right there in the lobby. So not only were both of us uncomfortable the whole time waiting, but our cat was clearly not happy about being cooped up in his carrier for such a long time in a warm place. But in any case, this underscores something that is an actual issue for the clinic - the building itself. There's only two exam rooms, and despite having met four different vets there, it seems that only two are working at any one time, which I suppose makes sense if you only have two rooms to examine patients in. The building is also old brick and looks like it was a house at one point, which means that despite its charming atmosphere it's not suited to be a medical facility of any capacity. I know they've been talking about moving to a bigger location on Glebe Road for ages but I don't know when they're ever going to be moving there. Speaking of the vets, Doctors Brown and Wooten are amazing, wonderful, caring vets who have always been great with our cat when we've brought him in without stressing him out. Even a few months ago when we had a young guy we'd never met before, that vet was very nice and friendly, even if he was a bit more thorough with his exams than Drs. Brown and Wooten usually are. However, this time around we had a fourth vet who I've never met before, and she did not provide a good experience for our cat. Despite that we were there for a routine rabies vaccine and some follow up about his weight from when we brought him in four months ago, when we brought up that he had had some issues with nibbling on his hind legs and tail, despite insisting that we had not seen any signs of it, this vet insisted that she give him a rectal exam to see if his glands were enflamed or something, right before giving him his vaccine as well. Our cat was extremely upset by this as he's very timid to begin with, and it was a considerably bigger hassle than we had wanted for something that, as we expected, turned up nothing. And her and the vet tech's attitude was extremely dismissive of the whole thing and the bad experience the two of us and our boy had had. So we finally got to leave about an hour an a half after arriving, around 7 PM, and although we got a little catnip mouse for free the whole trip was really bad. I hope that whenever we have to come back we won't have this bad of an experience, because as it stands we'll probably only bring him in for his shots and certainly won't be bringing up any other possible health issues like we have before. It doesn't help that the prices for treatment are somewhat high for a vet as well. And while I'm at it might as well point out a couple of other little annoying things that bug me whenever we go there. Some of the staff have attitude problems and don't particularly seem to care about the people waiting around for their appointments. And as with some other people who are really into cats, for some reason there's some traces of pseudomedicine around, such as marketing acupuncture and some homeopathic stuff. These people really know about cats, but if they improved everything else it wouldn't be such an ordeal coming here sometimes. read more

Care is thorough and efficient. Great experience with routine and urgent care with nearly immediate access when a crisis presents. When we got our first cat while living in Ballston, we decided to take him to Capital Cat Clinic based on the fantastic reviews we saw on Yelp. Last year, we moved to Alexandria and got a second cat and without hesitation decided to continue using Capital Cat (now NOVA) for both of them, despite the drive. The people there have always been knowledgeable, friendly and attentive towards our first cat, and when we have boarded him there I have felt secure that he was safe and well-cared for. I can be a nervous-nelly hypochondriac sometimes when it comes to the cats and ask a lot of questions and the staff have always been patient with me and responsive. We took them in for their annual checkup not too long ago, and the doctor explained some things about our younger cat's dental health - basically showing us signs around her gumline that she might be developing gingivitis and explaining what that meant for her health and ways that we could try to prevent future gum disease. She did not try to push any products on us or pressure us to do any kind of dental treatments. I think that is one of many signs I have observed over the years that this place is truly about taking care of cat health and not about sucking money out of customers. The waiting area is warm and inviting and our cats are very relaxed in there. Each time we have been there we have seen a plethora of "house cats" that roam around the waiting area, lounge and play with toys, and it is very amusing for our cats (and us!) to watch them. For the humans, they also sell cat toys and treats, have some amusing little books to flip through and a fancy coffee machine. read more

**Disclaimer: I've written a review for Capital Cat Clinic; this is a new review because I want to make sure that everyone knows that this place is great. The name did change, but their quality care didn't and I want to make sure their positive reputation follows their new name*** I can't say enough about NoVa cat clinic. Over the 5 years since I've moved here, I've been bringing my cat here and wouldn't dream of going anywhere else. Through and through, these guys are the best. Their level of care is the best. They have a high degree of professionalism and knowledge, and it really helps that they focus on cats. They specialize in older cats or cats with rare conditions, so that's great if your cat has special needs. Their level of care for cats is obvious from the start: your cat won't be manhandled and they always take the time to listen and explain. Their house-like atmosphere keeps my cat from stressing out, and the front desk staff is always kind and helpful. I can speak directly with the vets or the office staff, even via email, which is helpful since I can't always call. My cat has had a bunch of uncommon health issues, and throughout the years the vets have shown their expertise with cat health issues and types of treatment. They always take time to explain the issues and the treatment options, letting you decide on what you want to choose. Because of the types of issues she has, the most common courses of treatment aren't always available, but with their depth of knowledge, they always know what to do. I've never been pushed to do something that I wasn't sure of or couldn't afford. Thanks to Drs. Brown and de Lange, my cat is healthy and happy. What makes this clinic the best is that it's not just a vet clinic or another business; they go above and beyond and engage with their community. They go above and beyond to assist with local animal shelters, and were indispensable for advice, help, and contacts when I was working to trap, neuter, and return/adopt a family of ferals. Ellen, and LVT at the clinic, is a genius at rescuing and rehabbing even the most down-on-its-luck kitty that needs rescuing. They also have a scholarship program for local students aspiring to become vets, and support the DC/NoVa LGBT community. This is a business that is looking beyond the bottom line and the profit margin and is supporting the community and pet owners around it. To be fair, this is not the cheapest vet in the world. But it is the best I've ever seen (in 3 states!), and worth every penny. Their high level of compassion, professionalism, and customer service is hard to find around here. It is obvious that they care about their business, care about their customers, and most of all, care about cats. NoVa Cat Clinic is where I will go for all my cat's health needs, and I would strongly recommend it to anyone with a cat. read more

What follows is a slightly modified version of my review of CCC.* My cat and I have been using NoVa Cat Clinic since our move to Arlington 6 years ago, when it was Capital Cat Clinic. I have used others in the NoVA area and we also take our dog to a different vet (obviously). This is the only vet that I am committed to enough to write a review about. Over the past 6 years, NoVa was always helpful and sympathetic. When my cat experienced random vomiting and blood in his stool, NoVa got him properly hydrated, and when test results didn't identify the issue, they started giving my cat saline injections for free because they were frustrated that they couldn't figure out what was wrong. As my cat transitioned from outdoor youngster to indoor senior cat, they explained how to change his diet and keep him active. Over the past year or so, my regular vet retired and now I use Dr. Brown. He is very sympathetic to my cat's needs. In the past year, my cat needed to be sedated for a tooth cleaning. As they were tyring to do that, they couldn't get his heart rate down, and instead of continuing they aborted the procedure and ran tests to see what was wrong. Dr. Brown clearly laid out my options, including the costs and the preciseness of each test. After we landed on hyperthyroid, he again went over the treatment options to include costs and side effects. Whenever we do blood work I always get a post-test phone call to inform me of the results. When a regular check up is in order, the vet techs are polite and helpful. And they're good at dealing with my surly cat. In fact, even though my vet has changed, I don't think in my 6 years of using them that my vet techs have ever changed. Great consistency of staff, overall great service. read more

We love Nova Cats. It's a wonderful, caring clinic with knowledgeable doctors and techs; the staff at the desk is friendly and responsive. We also love Dr. Marcus Brown, who has taken care of two of our cats: Isadora, from age 10 to 18 years; and 11 year old Tashi since she was 7 months old when we adopted her. His theoretical and practical understanding is rich and amazing, made even better by his love for cats. He follows up and thoroughly explains issues that may arise. I first came to NOVA cat clinic to get a second opinion as to why my cat was throwing up so frequently. A previous vet had some ideas, but wasn't able to nail down a problem. Nova cat clinic was able to give me a next day appointment, and generally proved easy to schedule with. As many others have said, the building is an old home. There are two parking spots in front, and a lot out back (although, I'm not sure if it's for the clinic or Dharna next door, I parked there anyway and was always fine). Inside, there are a few vet cats that roam around. During my time at Nova cat clinic, overall, I was pleased, but there were a handful of things I didn't love. Mainly: the front desk staff didnt' seem entirely with it. On my first visit, they had never called my old vet for my cat's records like they said they would, so, my first appointment was almost useless. Luckily, they were able to get them while I was still in the appointment. Additionally, when they gave me some liquid meds, they forgot to add in the water and give me a dropper, so I had to go back. The office manager was apologetic, and basically yelled at the staff infront of me, telling them it was "unacceptable" that I had to come back. I did also feel as though I waited a fair while for my appointments. As for the Doctors - I met with Dr. Health. She seemed to know more than other vets I'd been to, perhaps because they focus solely on cats. She seemed to know what my cat likely had almost immediately, which is no small thing. Unfortunately, Dr. Heath is too smart for her own good, and had a lot of difficulties explaining things to me in a way that I (someone with no understanding of science) understood them. I had actually asked her to dumb things down a bit. She certainly tried and was patient with me, but it still didn't quite work. Eventually, I just googled everything she said. Also, Dr. Heath wasn't quite as forthright as some of my past vets about the costs/benefits of certain tests, but she certainly wasn't pushy. One day, I called and my cat really wasn't doing well and I was horrified. Dr. Heath let me come in ASAP to check her out. I really appreciated that. Over the next few days, I called daily, and always got a call back the same day. Unfortunately, my beautiful baby girl didn't make it, and got so sick, I had to put her down. It's been a heartbreaking experience, but, I feel as though Nova Cat Clinic has been very compassionate. The day after, Dr. Heath sent me an e-mail to say how sorry she was for my loss, a week later, I got a card signed by the whole staff, and after that a letter about a donation they had made in my cat's honor. It was a lovely gesture that I appreciated. Nova cat clinic overall had some issues, but, I believe that the vets there are all really smart, and really love cats. read more

This place is amazing! I took one of my kitties (14 1/2 neutered Norwegian Forest Cat/Maine Coon mix) here after he received a diagnosis of hyperthyroidism at another clinic. I was checked in quickly as a new patient (I completed and emailed forms ahead of time) and the front desk staff was super friendly. I was greeted by the vet tech who showed me to the exam room where she asked me questions about my cat's medical history and taking some base line notes including a photo and scanning for his microchip. No temp taken because it can stress out kitties! Dr Wooton came in and completed her exam and did a quick swab for testing. She answered all of my questions with thorough, in-depth anwers. I never felt rushed through the appointment (as I sometimes feel at other places) and she provided me with information about my cat's condition and treatment options. One definitely feels the empathy and passion from the staff as soon as you walk though the front door. Their clinic cats just stroll about the place, confident in their sense of ownership in the place and they didn't seem to care about my carrier on the floor. :) Wonderful place and I am definitely returning! read more

I brought my cat to NoVa Cat Clinic when my family moved to Arlington in June. I liked the fact that they had great reviews and were a cats only clinic. My cat had been experiencing some issues that I thought a vet needed to check out. Dr. Wooton was awesome and gave us some great advice. All the staff there are friendly and helpful. Even after our visit, Dr. Wooton, as well as Erika, could continue to email me to check in on my cat. Dr. Wooton even called me on a Friday evening to talk to me at length about my cat's test results. Sadly, my cat became worse and I had to made the difficult decision to put him down. Again, Dr. Wooton offered me excellent and honest advice. Were we to get another cat, there is no doubt in my mind that we would go to NoVa Cat Clinic. As for the missing one star, they are a little pricey, but that's probably just the area. Otherwise, they are awesome! read more

Be very careful with this vet practice. This is a delayed review, but I felt it should definitely be posted. Some background: I adopted a cat that was found at roughly 5 weeks old. I had never owned a cat before him, so I asked a ton of questions, and let them know that when I brought him in at first. They gave me the proper de-worming medication, but when I ended up taking him to a different vet to be neutered, I found out they failed to check for stomach parasites. I found out my cat had roundworms, and he was never checked for them. Which had I continued to bring him to this clinic, I don't think he would have ever been checked for. I found out later all kittens usually end up having them, because it comes through their mothers milk. So I cannot believe something so common, was not checked for. The other horrendous incident was when I told them I would be bringing my cat to a different clinic to be neutered. They said that they needed to take a blood sample to send to the new clinic. Which looking back on it, I think this was a ruse in order to give a younger doctor/intern the opportunity to practice drawing blood. NOT OKAY! I was told this under false pretenses, and guess what? THEY NEVER SENT THE SAMPLE! The needle popped out multiple times. They even had to switch legs. My cat was screaming the entire time. Eventually I said that's enough, we are done here, and left. My cat was never afraid of vets before this, but now is absolutely terrified of them. I wrote to them about the first incident, in which they said they would organize a panel to find out why this happened. Never heard back from them after that. Save your cat and your wallet, and go somewhere else. read more

I brought my cat here for the past 3 years, until she sadly had to be put down. Dr. Brown and the other staff are all so friendly and kind, and have took wonderful care of my cat, and I would highly recommend them. I had a dental surgery done for my cat here in the past, and they always loved seeing my cat. The prices are a bit high here, but seem generally in line with other vets in the area. As a plus, there are usually are kitties running around in the waiting area of the clinic, and they are usually friendly and playful. read more

We got our first kitten about 6 months ago. Based on the Yelp reviews and the fact that they specialized in cats, we took her here for her initial exam. The staff was very attentive and friendly. They took great care when examining our cat and trimming her nails. They provided recommendations for on-going care, product recommendations, etc. in a non-pushy and very straight forward manner. Then thee vet did almost immediate follow up with some additional articles/videos they had mentioned during our conversation. You can really tell they enjoy being around cats, and take pride in their work. We also recently boarded our cat for 5 days while on vacation overseas. The price was reasonable, and the cat is showing no ill effects. The staff again did a great job taking care of her. I totally trust the team here, and look forward to a long relationship with them and the care of our cat. read more

These guys are awesome. I had been going to another vet in the area for years, until I was just fed up with them. I came here from a friend's recommendation, and I'm so glad I made the switch. The vet actually spends time in the room with you and really asks about your cat. Like, he wanted to know the story of how I got my kitty, not just a laundry list of health updates. They follow up quickly, and actually through email correspondence, which is super easy for me. And they really care, and you can tell! I do have to brag, though, the techs said my kitty got the Best Cat Award because he behaved so well while they were drawing blood. :-) read more

I recently adopted an adult cat with some special needs (allergy, food obsessions, etc) and Nova has been so awesome! They have a really flexible schedule and I've never had a problem making an appointment. But what I've been most impressed with is their genuine love for their patients and the way that shines through in their care. Everyone --from the front desk associates, to the vet techs, to the doctors--is extremely knowledgable and loves cats. It makes such a difference. And they are great with follow up-- when my cat had issues after a dental procedures they were quick to respond and frequently checked in to see how he was doing. read more

I have owned cats my entire life and this was the worst visit for my cat at this practice. This cat gets very stressed at the vet and the vet tech injured her leg after repeated attempts to draw blood. I had requested another tech but was ignored. I brought her back to have her injury checked out and they tried to charge me even more money for something that they caused. They laughed at me, hurt my pet, tried to milk more money from me, and told me to never come back. My cat is still very hurt and traumatized almost a week later. The vet tech even admitted he caused her multiple hematomas. They were rude, careless, and aggressive with my pet and with me. I have liked the vet that I saw there. Unfortunately, the vet tech, front desk staff, and office manager can't make up for how nice she was. read more

I have taken my cat Mr. Peeve to Nova cat clinic twice now and will continue to return. :) The staff is super friendly and the best part about the office is sometimes they have kittens playing around and you can adopt them I believe. I had two different vets take a look at peeve and both were so nice and kind. They gave great recommendations and were patient with peeve even though he was hissing because he always gets nervous in new settings. He eventually calmed down And even rubbed up against one of the vets. I would definitely consider taking your feline here! :) read more

I love this place. Even though I've given them an arm and a leg over the years, I've never felt pressured or judged (mostly). I also love the setting. Most vets' offices are full of barking or whining dogs, and while I love dogs, that energy is really unsettling to a cat and really unhelpful before they get poked and prodded by a vet. I started coming here two years ago with my then-8 year-old cat. He had always been shiny, bright-eyed and energetic, so I didn't have a lot of health concerns. He just needed a regular place to get check-ups as he rolled into senior citizenhood. Since then he's had teeth cleaning, a mass removed and a referral to RadioCat for hyperthyroidism. It has all been expensive but worth it for my peace of mind. When I declined to have his cyst tested for cancer, I got some weird looks, but I wasn't pressured into spending more money (about $400) than I thought was necessary. They were also very helpful in getting all of his testing done so that he could have his thyroid treated, and they are very good about following up on that. They always tell me how cute and sweet he is, even though I'm sure they say that about all the kitties. My cat also tends to wet himself in the car, and they are always ready with a garbage bag and a pee pad to line his carrier for the trip home. The only thing I wouldn't recommend them for, and this goes for all veterinary offices, is routine stuff. I always take my cat to the Washington Humane Society for his shots, because you can't beat $10 with a stick. I also just got a new kitten, and will be taking her to a clinic for her battery of shots-spay-microchip, because I think doing it at the vet is a waste of money. But for sure, I'll be bringing her to NoVa for her yearly check-ups. read more

My cat may not like going here (or any vet) but I sure do. Dr. Brown and all of the cat doctors here have always treated my cat wonderfully. We came here after going to some of the "in store" vets in the area. The prices are higher than those other places but the care by far out weighs the cost. The office is always quiet and the front desk staff friendly and helpful. Especially the office cats. I have rarely ever had to wait for my appointment to begin. They make the visit as stress free as possible for my cat and I. I do agree with some other reviews that they often recommend dental procedures and other preventative procedures, but I have never felt pressured to agree. When this happens I discuss with the vet my reasons. The vets here have never pressed further, except maybe to mention it at the next visit. But I have found this at every veterinary practice I have ever gone too. They just want us pet parents to be aware of the options. My cat has been a bit of a puzzle with some of his ailments, but the staff and doctors were patient and concerned and every time we were able to figure out how to helpl my kitty. If you are not convinced yet.....they have kittens and coffer in the sitting area while you wait. read more

When I took my cat to NoVA Cat Clinic we were blown away by everything. When you first walk in the front desk staff are helpful and upbeat and it's a nice homey environment, plus there are 2 cats the live there that you can sometimes pet. We didn't wait long at until we were taken to see the Doctor. Doctor Heath was thorough and took her time, we didn't feel rushed at all. She was knowledgeable and knew exactly how to approach our cats kidney problems. But the main reason for my 5 star review is when we went back a few weeks later to take in a stray cat we have been taking are of. When we went in we saw Dr. Brown who is also the owner. He was also thorough, caring, and did not make us feel rushed at all which was greatly appreciated since our appointment was an "open window." He was kind enough to offer us a very generous discount for our stray cat and answered all our questions. I will continue to take my cat here for years to come and recommend NoVa Cat Clinic to anyone with a cat! read more

It's wonderful to see the difference in our cats' behavior at an all cat clinic versus a traditional veterinarians office. At least in our case, our felines truly know the difference in the smells, sights and sounds of this unique clinic. The home-like approach works perfectly to help them relax. I am also pleased to use the clinic's online system, making our pets' medical records and the office staff available 24/7 (via email), much like our own medical records are through our human medical systems. It keeps things organized and makes it easier to communicate about test results and problems as they arise. There are two reasons I didn't give the practice a five star rating. Firstly, the facility is not wheelchair or stroller accessible, which would have been an awful problem for my wife a few months ago. (She used a wheelchair and a walker for quite some time.) We personally use a stroller for our cats. So, we have to lift the stroller up several steep steps to enter the building. Secondly, the prices are higher than average. For example, although we take both cats for their yearly wellness check at the same time, we still pay a full $75 office visit for each cat. That's more than the average office fee, so it seems it would be reasonable for the second fee to at least be slightly reduced. That's been the custom with my pets at other offices. Everything, including shots, run approximately 10 to 15 percent higher than average. Be prepared. In the end, we continue to return and receive quality care here. We just have pet insurance to offset the added costs. Despite the two negative points I mentioned, I definitely recommend the practice thus far and trust their recommendations to be unbiased, never profit seeking. Edit: One of my cats had a sudden problem with her anal glands. I emailed the office on a Sunday afternoon requesting a Monday appointment. I expected the office would receive the email Monday morning. Instead, I received a text message approximately 15 minutes later from one of the doctors proposing an appointment time for Monday. The service at Nova Cat Clinic was outstanding! I have a 10 y.o. female calico that I adopted from a rescue shelter about 6 years ago. My cat is lovely at home but absolutely terrified of the vet. We recently moved to the area and after researching options, I decided to schedule her annual checkup at Nova. I contacted the clinic via email and they were very responsive. We discussed my cat's anxiety and possibly using sedation as an option for the exam. I forwarded her medical history and the team took the time to review so they were prepared for our visit. Dr. Brown examined my cat--he and the staff were very patient and kind. We did decide on the sedation because my cat needed blood work but everything was handled with the utmost care and professionalism. The vet and team kept me informed throughout the visit. Luckily, the only big issue (pun intended) was my cat's obesity so we did get a Rx for a special diet cat food. I highly recommend Nova Cat Clinic :) read more

I love these guys! I've been taking my two cats here for a couple of years for a yearly checkup. They are very nice, fast, efficient, and the hours are really convenient. One cat needed dental surgery but they weren't able to schedule him in for another two months. Unfortunate, but my cat hadn't shown any signs of discomfort prior to that, so I wasn't really miffed at all. They did recommend antibiotics in the meantime, so that was nice. When they recommended dental treats, I decided to forgo the ones they sell and instead bought my own. They work just as well and are cheaper. Overall, I love the atmosphere, I love the care, and I love that they are cat-only! There is a great concentration of cat expertise and love for not just animals but cats in particular. read more

Was pretty happy with their service for a procedure we could not get done at our normal vet. I appreciated that Dr Brown responded to my questions via email outside of business hours. However, I was not super happy with the communication. I found the person at the front desk to be a bit abrupt in her responses when I asked to make an appointment before lab results were complete due to a misunderstanding. read more

I can't say enough good things about NOVA. Very knowledgeable Vets, Techs and staff. They have always treated me as a valued client but more importantly, they treat my kitties like they were their own pets. Doctor Wootton is astoundingly patient with my one boy who has terrible anxiety issues and treats him so gently. I can tell she truly cares about her patients. Vet Tech Ellen is the "Kitten Expert" and deserves special mention. She personally rescued our Ivy and matched us up with her and her 'sister' Cassie. Now, Nova isn't cheap. But this kind of specialized expert medical care doesn't come on the cheap. You do get what you pay for. They don't push for unnecessary tests or procedures so I am confident that when a test is needed... it's needed. All in all, you can't take your feline family member to a better bunch of folks. read more

I had adopted my senior cat a week prior and needed to take him in for a check up. I am a first time pet owner and the thought of taking in my cat for a pet visit made me nervous. However I did my research on the list of clinics my shelter gave me and chose Nova Cat clinic. Calling to make an appointment was easy and smooth. And upon arriving the reception was just as nice! I loved the vet and he really took his time to educate me on everything I needed to know about taking care of Mr. Kitty! He also followed up the visit with an email giving me recommendations on what else would help with his feedings etc. I definitely recommend this veterinary and we will be going back for our vet visits from now on! read more

I just went to Nova Cat Clinic for the first time last Saturday and had a fabulous experience from start to finish. I loved being able to make an appointment and view updates through the PetDesk app, and everyone I interacted with at the front desk was so kind and helpful. My two cats had a check up with Dr. Anderson. I have had cats my whole life and seen many good vets over the years but Dr. Anderson is hands down the best ever. It is obvious he is extremely passionate about what he does and I have nothing but positive things to say about him. All around great experience and highly recommend! read more

I'm updating my review after I was yelled at today by a vet tech working at the front desk for being "disrespectful" for being 12 minutes late after getting a flat tire. This employee of NoVa Cat Clinic called me to yell at me on the phone and hung up on me, then snapped at me again in person. Then this individual bitchily ordered me to "close the door" as another customer was walking in the doorway behind me, rolled their eyes/smirked when I stepped out of the exam room due to the fact that I faint at the sight of blood, refused to acknowledge me as I waited to check out, complained about having to work on the weekend, and talked shit about another customer to me as I finally attempted to check out. I have spent a significant amount of money at NoVa and before today have not been late to a single appointment in the three years I have been taking my cats there. While I understand the need to enforce a late policy, there is a professional and polite way to do so, and the interactions that I had today were unacceptable. read more
