This is by far the worst place to go for dental care. A few months ago, they told me over the phone that they accepted my insurance. After the appointment, they suddenly demanded full payment upfront and claimed they would contact my insurance and get back to me about reimbursement. I've never heard from them again. Dr. Gejji is a great dentist but her staff is the worst (minus Carolyn and Cara). I recently went there for a tooth extraction and the procedure we went well until the end when I asked Karen the dental assistant for some tissue because I was drooling. Karen refused to give me tissue so I went to front desk and obtained a few tissues from the tissue box . When I was walking back to the examing room Karen told me to meet her outside. The staff is very friendly and seems competent enough. However, After 2 visits, I noticed the billing practices seem strange. The estimated bill I received from the office at the time of visit and the insurance statement which arrives in the mail in the future never matches in terms of treatments and amounts. It appears the office bills intentionally to increase profit. I had a cleaning done and I scheduled fillings approximately 2 months later. The price of those fillings with my insurance coverage increased by over $100. Today 4-5 and 7 months since the last visit(s) I receive a message regarding outstanding balance on my account from both visits. Very confusing and difficult to exactly dispute any amount since it does not appear they report correctly to insurance in the first place. After the new management, this place runs more like a skeezy used car dealership or auto repair shop, billing you and overcharging for services you don't need. The doctor's never stay, or hygeneists, constantly rotating to new (better) companies. They will tell you need everything underneath the sun done to enrich the company and receive commission. I get xrays and exam done every 6 months from different doctors. None mentioned anything and said my teeth were great. Then i come here to Dr. Choe , a new doctor there, and he says I need 7 teeth fillings repaired and a roote canal! All totaling more than 1000 dollars billed toward insurance and more than 500-1000 dollars out of my pocket What?! He wanted to max out my insurance policy remaining balance coverage before it renewed at the end of the month at the cost of drilling my teeth all up! I obviously said no thanks and scheduled another doctor with new company the next day and they said i didnt need HALF of what Dr. Choe told me i needed, including not needing a ROOT CANAL lol. ve came here before and used them in past and they were OK , but since the last few years they just operate biasedly with bottom line costs/repairs above ethics. Be very wary of all the Doctors, especially Dr. Choe, who operate based on how much money they can bill you and your insurance company at the expense of drilling your teeth up needlessly. Walk in for a dental cleaning, prepare to walk out with a root canal. Mike Nguyen who is an absolute quack dentist. So I went in to get my biannual cleaning completed. Nothing big and I had zero pain. When they were cleaning they noticed the start of a cavity. Obviously I opted to get that corrected. Unfortunate to me, the doctor went down too close to the dentin and caused extreme sensitivity. For 2 weeks I went in there at least once a week. Nothings wrong, take ibuprofen and it should settle down. By the 3rd week they are telling me I will need a root canal. I know the doctor knew he screwed up since he comped some of the cost of the procedure. So a week later I'm still having the same sensitivity issues and I explain to them its not entirely gone, why? Once again I'm told to wait 8-10 days and see if it settles down. They went in again and did a repair to the crown and finalized the root canal with a crown (MORE MONEY). So now I'm out about $1200 since I want to get rid of this pain. 8 Months go by and I'm thinking im home free. Yet here comes the pain again. I develop an abscess the size of a dime Wanting a 2nd opinion to get away from Mike Nguyen. I go to another office. Immediately they determine that Mike Nguyen didn't get all of the roots. So not only did I pay for a FULL root canal. I had to pay to fix his incompetence. Went to a surgeon and payed $1100 since my max benefit for that specific tooth has been used up. Today I'm getting a 2nd crown to fix what Dr. Mike Nguyen failed to complete the first time. BE WARNED... THEY WILL TAKE YOUR MONEY AND FIND ADDITIONAL PROCEDURES TO BILL YOU. NOT TO MENTION THE PAIN AND SUFFERING INCURED BY THIS LEVEL OF INEPTITUD. I HOPE YOU DONT GET BILKED OUT OF $2300+ FOR A SIMPLE CLEANING. After I contacted the company to get a refund for not completing the entire procedure. They office manager had the audacity to reference the contract that its not guaranteeing 100% work. If you live in Woodbridge, and you care about your total health. Don't go to Neibauer Dental Care - Dale City. They literally ruined my teeth. I did a root canal and it was infected but I didn't know until the bridge they did was chipped. I went back and I was informed that I have an infection even though I wasn't experiencing any pain. The dentist told me that I need two implants which will cost me thousands. Then I talked to another dentist after I sent him the x-ray and he confirmed that the root canal was done wrong. He asked to get the original X-ray before and after the root canal to confirm. I went back and requested the X-ray and they told me the record is lost. Aren't they supposed to keep patients' records for years? Now I am looking for a lawyer to legally request my records. read more

All they want is $$$. After having braces for 3 years and wearing my retainer nightly, they told me I need Invisalign. You could have perfectly straight teeth and they'll say you need Invisalign. Unfortunately, my wife didn't have the same experience as the other reviewers. Several months ago, soon after this office opened, my wife went in for an exam and cleaning. A very nice doctor from South America was her dentist and conducted the cleaning (I believe the hygienist had a family emergency). My wife, until we moved to Northern Virginia two years ago, was a dental assistant for more than 10 years. She had her teeth cleaned 3-4 times a year and has had the very fortunate opportunity to work for some very well respected dentists. She is OCD about her teeth. The dentist spent all of 10 minutes cleaning my wife's teeth. My wife was amazed so little time was spent. After the cleaning and the prerequisite x-rays, the dentist told my wife that MOST of her fillings would need to replaced and three would need to be replaced immediately due to deep cavities. The dentist emphasized an urgency in the three fillings/cavities and requested that $500.00 be paid prior (immediately) to the appointment and remainder afterwards...I think the total cost was just over $1,000.00. After leaving the office my wife arrived home utterly astounded that her teeth could be in such bad shape. Soon after, she made an appointment with another dentist. The dentist conducted x-rays of her teeth and found one very small cavity developing under one filling, but observed NO OTHER problems with any of her fillings. Simply, everything looked fine. He could not find any indication of the damage and decay as stated by the Neibauer dentist. My wife also followed up with another dentist, who happens to be a family friend. Our friend echoed the same results of the second dentist. So, either Neibaurer is a "patient" mill (a cleaning in 10 minutes?) and an "urgent-care-required immediately-for-profit" business, or the dentist that saw my wife cannot read x-rays and believes she's above cleaning teeth. I went for the cleaning, x-rays, and dental checkup with the Groupon. The cleaning was thorough and quick. However, they advised me that I required fillings and root canal and gave me an astronomical quote for their root canal services. I went to another dentist for a second opinion and the dentist advised me that I could not pay him enough money to perform a root canal on my healthy tooth. Plus, two of the cavities that they "identified" were not cavities and required no fillings. I ended up only needing to wear a night guard because I grind my teeth and it was making my teeth sensitive. Which the dentist quickly diagnosed by squeezing some kind of muscle on my jaw, which was the source of the sensitivity. On top either blatantly lying or getting the diagnosis wrong, they have just sent me a $478.00 bill for I'm not sure what. The groupon was supposed to cover all x-rays, cleaning, and exam from the dentist. I do not appreciate being told I need unnecessary surgery, and then billed for it... DO NOT GO TO THIS DENTIST!!! ALL THEY WANT IS YOUR MONEY!! I took my toddler here for his first dentist visit and they spent all of five minutes looking at his teeth then proceeded to tell me in a few years he would likely need 2-3 major surgeries to FIX HIS UPPER JAW. First of all...no. My son has a slight..and I mean barely there underbite. BUT, he is also 3, has baby teeth which may be out of line from using a pacifier. I told them thanks for the advice and left. Other than that nonsense, everyone was nice and the appointment was fast. Fast forward 3 months to mommy's check-up for the army reserves. They told me I needed a deep cleaning (which I kind of expected) and then tried to sell me invisilign--(um did I mention I have damn near perfectly straight teeth?) under the pretense that I had a severe overbite (my bottom teeth don't show). I told the dentist thanks, but I'm 35 and don't need braces for my perfect teeth. When I checked out-they showed me my treatment plan which included a 1400 dollar deep cleaning (I have insurance), and they had filled out my reserve dental check-up form. They marked me as a dental category 3-which indicates I will have a dental emergency in the next 12 months --(from needing a deep cleaning???). This also means I am non-deployable. Needless to say I shredded that paper and am getting a second opinion and no one in my family will EVER go back to Neibauer Dental. read more

I am terrified of the dentist (sweaty palms, rapid heart rate, etc), therefore my lack of visits led me to require a root canal. Dr. Nagle, was the best dentist I have ever had in my life so far. After my root canal, I received a call from Dr. Nagle personally. He wanted to check in on me to make sure I was doing fine, and to encourage me to get plenty of rest. In which I did. I agree with Johanna's review. At 37 I had never had a problem with my teeth.....till now. And I was freaked. I went in and got a root canal expecting all of the usual problems. His staff was assuring friendly and efficient. Everything you want when a dentist has a drill in your head. Now, I always recommend you ask about costs up front. In this case we came in "under budget." No gotchas. No dramma. I will be back and will refer everyone I talk with. Btw, this is for Dr Nagle at the specific location on Richmond highway. I have been going to Neibauer Dental for 3 years now. Dr. Chao takes the time to explain to me why his treatment plan is the way that it is. The dental assistants are efficient and caring. I have experienced this first hand as I have a pretty childish fear of the numbing needle. Dr. Chao and his staff also do a great job of laughing at my dumb, nervous jokes, even when they aren't very funny. I never feel like just "another patient" here. Neibauer dental Fort Belvoir This office has by far been the worst dental experience to date. I took my daughter here to get a few fillings done. She is only 6 years old. The doctor who goes by Dr Chao was an absolute nightmare. First off he came off extremely rude and nonchalant about my daughters feelings and well being. When it was time to administer the first shot of anesthetic he began screaming at my daughter to open her mouth. He asked me to hold down my daughters hands and asked the assistant to hold down her head. To me this is absolutely unacceptable and to way to treat your patients. My daughter began to cry and he continued to shove the needle into her mouth. She was crying hysterically the Dr Chao screamed "WHY ARE YOU LOOKING AT IT" he was talking about the needle. He was also extremely rough and continue tugging her face back and forth. This type of experience is what traumatizes people and kids about the dentist. Do yourself a favor and do not ever go to this office and see Dr. Chao. read more

When I called they told me they were located on FT Belvior, which they are not. I informed the representative that I was a Soldier and told her that I need to go to an Dentist on post and she said oh we can see you here I asked if they were on post again and she was like yes yes. Needless to say they are not on post. I made an appointment later in the day at 5:30 and she said if you can come in early do so, I did I arrived about 4:45 checked in, and waited first the receptionist couldn't verify my insurance and stated that the exam would be free since she couldn't, then I waited and waited and waited, about 3 people who came in after me went before me although I was there first. At about 5:55 another person came in and was taken to the back. I asked the receptionist how long because it was now 6:00, she said they were coming to get me in a few minutes. They took me to the back and the dentist looked at my teeth. All I wanted was a clear retainer for my top teeth, I didn't want to pay for my bottom retainer because I already had one. So she told me that she was going to tell the receptionist the price but didn't tell me. Next a dental assistant came to the back and put the drape around me as if she was going to do my impression. I waited for another 20 minutes and no one came back to tell me anything. I went to the front because I'm tired of waiting and the receptionist gave me the price quote and tried to schedule me an appointment to return. I refused and will not be returning here. The dentist just called and apologized for what I went thru, I neglected to mention she was extremely nice respectful, professional and seemed to have lots of knowledge on her profession. read more

The employees were very professional and informative. However, The dentist that examined me, (Dr. Choe), poked his mirror handle on my tooth and I almost went through the roof. He then said "I not even going to go further, you need a root canal, your tooth is dying". He didn't examine me further to see or feel if I had any swollen lymph nodes, which I did. Didn't offer any pain meds until I could get the root canal. Then charged me $40 for a 2 minute consult, (I won't call it an exam). I went to my medical doctor, she examined me and prescribed some antibiotics and recommended ibuprofen for pain. My pain and infection are almost gone. Needless to say, I will not be returning to this clinic for further treatment. I should have read all these reviews before I made the appointment. read more

I love, love, love this dental practice, namely because of ENAT who is the best hygienist I have ever had in my lifetime! She is very detailed when cleaning every tooth and if she has to take a little extra care or time to make things exactly pristine, she will do so! She is a perfectionist and pays attention to every detail not only inside of your mouth but outside of it, too, as she really cares about her patients' overall well-being. She has a warm personality and if one can ever be "excited" about coming to the dentist, this is the best it gets. And while I keep returning for ENAT, I really have high praise for dentist, DR. MIKE; he has worked through some difficult issues with me and my first crown ever! Ugh! I have very sensitive teeth/gums and together this team of a very special two have worked through them with me. The reason, I didn't give this place 5 stars is just because there was so confusion on appointments and because when I got there they didn't have all my papers ready, but they were very quick to correct the problem with a smile on their face. I was so irritated but not once did the receptionists give me attitude or anything, I did bring my 4 month old baby and she started crying, they came and grabbed her and played with her until I was finished. All the ladies there, were so loveable towards my child and I loved it. I got xrays done and they were done quickly, the hygienist did a great job and lastly the doctor came and checked my teeth. I landed at this practice after a pretty rough sports accident that left me with some badly broken and busted front teeth. After boycotting all dentists for many years because of some pretty terrible experiences, I came here merely because this practice was close to me and able to see me first thing in the morning (my accident happened at night). To say I was nervous was an understatement. I was first greeted by the front office who was super calm and friendly and didn't react to my busted teeth at all. Almost immediately I was taken back to x-rays where I was met with more calm and concerned people. Dr. Nguyen was quick to evaluate the situation. He went over several treatment plans (pros and cons) and the cost for each. I never felt pressured to go in any certain direction with treatment. In all honesty, for all the work I had to get done, the cost was less than what I imagined in my head. Lily and Dr. Nguyen spent a solid couple of hours with me that morning, cleaning up the mess in my mouth and creating some temporary teeth (for lack of a better term) - until I could get back for the real work. They were so incredibly gentle, it was unreal. They also did not say a word about the brewing dental issues in my mouth that needed to be taken care of as well. The lack of guilt-trip which I was also worried about, made processing everything that was going on so much easier. I spent the better half of my summer getting my teeth fixed as the process was lengthy. I had more impressions and x rays and drilling than I would ever want to experience again, but the pain was all very minimal and again, everyone that touched my mouth was so gentle. Once my front teeth were all better, I got a real cleaning and developed a plan to tackle some of the other dental issues. Because I've been there so much, a lot of people recognize me which really does make a difference in how comfortable you feel at the dentist. I can't recommend this practice enough. I trust their knowledge and expertise. They are extremely gentle and not patronizing as I have found other dentists to be. They have worked with me to help me work out the finances. There really isn't anything negative I can say about them. read more

While they are nice and are open extended hours I won't recommend them. Every time I had to pay for a service their prices were way above what they quoted. And I don't mean a few dollars here and there! A root canal and crown were quoted to cost $1798 but when I went to pay the price jumped $1988!! Could not get an explanation from the person at the desk so I asked for an itemized printout with all that was done and the prices. Was told sure, but it won't show everything! WTF?!!
