We had an appointment so when we came in for the first time we were expecting someone at the front to greet us. Nope no one around...we waited about 10 minutes for someone to show up at the front desk so we decided to walk around and look for someone. We found a tech who put us in a room and told us to wait there. After another 10 minutes the doctor comes in and tells us to put our information into the computer and that he'd be right back. I put all of our information in then the tech came back, only to use the computer I was on to take another call and wipe the information I just put in. After that she started asking me questions about my pet but was in someone else's account so it wasn't my pet. It was all just very unorganized and unprofessional. I don't think I'll ever be back. read more

Dr. Masood and the team at Nova Pets Health Center have seen my family through 3 sets of dogs over the past 20+ years. We arrived to the area with two aging golden retrievers, and later had another set of goldens, and now we have two Saint Bernards. Through them all Nova Pets has been a great resource and comfort. We've used the boarding services, the various preventative wellness plans, and a wide array of ad hoc services (like emergency procedure when the dog at something not made out of food, or the time one of our Saints got poisoned from something in the forest). While all of this has been exceptional, I want to especially call out a recent surgery one of our Saints had. Dr. Masood has always taken a thoughtful approach to anesthesia (which is especially troublesome for big breeds) and stayed current with the latest protocols to keep the patient safe and to ensure they are fully "out" for the procedure. Before moving here, several surgical experiences left the dog drowsy and confused afterward long beyond the few hours one would expect. And in each case, there were issues with the sutures. This time around, with Dr. Masood and team, my dog was pretty much herself the night of the surgery, and was 100% the following day. Moreover, we kept a cone on her just in case, but never once did she itch, pull at the stitches, or otherwise even acknowledge she had multiple growths removed her 4 separate spots on her body. By the way, they were all benign and she is absolutely fine now. I am grateful to have such a great veterinary practice nearby and would unhesitatingly recommend them for the hard stuff like surgery and for the routine stuff as well! read more

I have had many pets over the years and have worked with many vets. I have never experienced the caring and professionalism that I encountered with Dr. Masood and his team of professionals. We had an emergency situation that required immediate attention. Our regular vet in Herndon would not even see our dog that day despite knowing of the emergency. When I contacted Dr. Masood he said to bring her over right away. He saw us immediately when we arrived and was able to diagnose the problem. Our Shi Tzu needed emergency surgery which he performed the same morning. He called with status as soon as he was complete; he provided a detailed written summary of every procedure he did; he recommended that she spend the next night or two and he even gave us a phone number where we could reach him should we have any concerns. He was able to successfully cure our pet and showed exceptional caring. The professionalism was the best I have ever encountered with a vet and his pricing was very reasonable. if I could give them a negative review, I would. we were visiting from out of town and brought our 17 1/2 year old miniature dachshund for 100ml of fluids. the tech/doctor took it upon himself to double that. She immediately went into kidney failure We took her to the emergency hospital and spent over $1400.00 running tests after tests. This decision accelerated her condition. 5 days later we had to euthanize her. I am extremely heartbroken! This could have been avoided if he has just followed the instructions from our vet in the extensive medical records which were forwarded to them. They denied any wrongdoing. Be Aware* It's been almost two years since the case of my sick puppy I bought from My Next Puppy happened. NOVA pets was the Vet that was recommended for us to take our puppy to, so obviously we went. Well, we didn't know what we were in for because My Next Puppy didn't have a lot of reviews at the time. Our puppy came down with diarrhea after getting her vaccines from here. She then started having bloody diarrhea and could barely walk. My husband brought her in and she stayed for a week costing us a lot of money. The doc couldn't figure out what was wrong with her but still kept her. One day she would be ok, the next she would be sick. I decided that if my pup was going to pass away that I should let her pass at home with us. So I picked her up and left. In my heart, I didn't feel as if he tried much to help her. I feel as if he's contracted with the company and didn't want to say much because they were sending customers over to him. I know there's only so much a vet could do, but this place wasn't it. She was diagnosed with pneumonia, she started having seizures at home and I had to drive her to a different vet to put her down. Worst experience of my life. Go with your gut, you are allowed to have second opinions. If you feel your vet isn't doing much to help your pet, move and find another one. read more

I was in need of a place to board our dog over a holiday weekend and saw positive reviews for NOVA Pets Health Center and figured we would give it a try. I ended up stopping our meet and greet appointment early and walking out. The woman that checked us in and gave us the tour of the facility was nice enough and helpful but the Dr and his Assistant were incredibly rude. My son has and eye condition where he sometimes has a droopy eyelid. The Dr entered the room and almost immediately pointed at my son and said "what's wrong with his eye?" I was appalled by the comment and the manner in which he said it. I'm pretty sure he could tell I was not happy and quickly passed me off to his assistant who seemed annoyed and when I asked him questions about price, kennel size, etc. he said I should have looked this up online beforehand and he didn't know. I was furious and shocked by the terrible customer service. We left without booking and will not be going back. read more

I am very happy with the service. My dog was very sick couple weeks ago with rash all over his body. I did contact the dr Sunday morning. He saw my dog same day less than an hour. I am extremely happy with Dr. Masood and his team at the NOVA Pets Health Clinic! I have been bringing my French Bulldog to Dr. Masood for almost 2 years now, starting when she was a puppy at 12 weeks old. From well check ups and vaccinations to her spay procedure to fixing ear infections to resolving allergies, Dr. Masood provides my dog the best care! Most recently, my Frenchie had a horrible scratch on her cornea that got infected and not only caused her pain, but also could have damaged her vision. Dr. Masood explained his treatment plan, performed surgery on the infected part of the cornea, and was able to heal her eye! This was a serious injury that took over a month to heal, and I am super grateful for Dr. Masood's skilled and patient care of my Frenchie! Very disappointed with this clinic. We brought in our newly adopted kitten because he had a large bald patch on his leg, was grooming and scratching himself incessantly, and had diarrhea. Dr. Masood sold us flea treatment despite no evidence of fleas, and told us his stool sample was "negative" and just to "keep an eye" on the bald patch. Our kitten did not improve, so a few days later we took him to a different animal hospital. The doctor there immediately identified ringworm, an ear infection, and is testing his stool for Giardia. Meanwhile, our 2 other cats have been exposed to all these diseases because Nova Pets Health Center did not identify any of them. Nova Pets Health Center did not help our kitten, and by trusting this clinic we also put our other cats in danger. **Update: Our new vet checked the kitten's stool, and he tested positive for Giardia. We had told Dr. Masood about our concerns with the kitten's diarrhea and even brought a fresh stool sample with us to the appt. But Dr. Masood just brushed us off. Meanwhile, the kitten continued to suffer from this intestinal parasite, and our other cats have been exposed to it. read more

We have been taking our Cavalier King Charles Spaniel "Buster" to Nova Pets since July 2018. Buster loves going there for Doggie Day Camp, his appointments and for Boarding. I took Buster this morning for his monthly appointment and an ear infection. After the appointment Buster ran to the elevator because he wanted to go upstairs to Doggie Day Camp. He does this everytime we go are there, I usually have to carry him out to the car. He loves the attention he gets there. All of the staff are great with Buster and our family. I first started taking my 8-week old Morkie to Nova Pets in April 2018. I love the health plan option that they offer and think it's reasonably priced. I had an intestinal issue with my pup months later and Dr. Masood was available to not only see him to address the issue but be continually on call throughout his recovery. I got another pup in January 2019. With the great care I received with my male pup from the entire team, it was a no brainer but to bring my female pup there. After a year of taking my dog here, I felt like I wasted thousands of dollars for treatments that never worked. One time, instead of doing a $20 procedure, they put him under to do a more severe and unnecessary procedure that cost me $400. After that, every time we went in they always had something more to sell. It seems like the only plus to the "puppy plan plus" was that we had his neutering covered. We went elsewhere, and since then our puppy has been healthy. Weird coincidence or not- don't waste your money. There are reputable places in the area that won't nickel and dime you. read more

We have been taking our puppy to Nova Pets Health Center day camp for the last 5 months and have also used their boarding facilities and veterinary services for her and our other older dog. They have several packages to meet your needs, are very accommodating and we couldn't be happier. The staff are all very nice, helpful and treat our pets like their own. They share stories, pictures of them playing or snuggling and always make time to answer any questions. Our puppy can't wait to go everyday, she's so happy when she sees Liz and her front desk staff. She especially looks forward to spending the day with Robert in the day camp area. He is so enthusiastic, caring and makes sure our pets always have a great experience. I've been bringing my dogs to Dr. Masood for several years now. I used to go to Caring Hands in Centreville, but they were getting too expensive. After their beautiful remodel of the office, I started feeling like my money was helping pay for that. I also was taking my dogs to Dogtopia in Chantilly for occasional boarding and doggy day care, and that too was getting very expensive. When I found NOVA Pets, I was glad they had a pet plan to help keep my costs manageable, and since they also board and have doggy day care, I consolidated all my dog needs and now just have to stop at one place! This is my first time as a pet owner taking my pet in and he did a fantastic job explaining everything and making me feel comfortable. His staff is also incredible and caring. So far so good. We adopted our Siberian Husky puppy from My Next Pet. Zero is 10 weeks old and has a slight cough and stomach issues. Nova Pets Health Center was recommended by My Next Pet so we scheduled a wellness exam with them. The staff was really nice and welcoming. The Dr. was also very nice. They recommended a prescription wet food (Royal Canine) to help with Zero's loose stool. He also prescribed anti biotic to help with the cough. It has been 2 days and Zero is already doing so much better. Since we've only had Zero for 3 days, Nova Pets worked with My Next Puppy and all testing and medication fees were waived. The only thing we had to pay for was the wet food. Overall, this has been a great experience so far and I plan on making Nova Pets our primary veterinarian. read more

Please read this: I took my dog in for a trim and walked out with over $900 in proposed medical services, none of which were needed (confirmed with a second opinion) and some of which could have posed a risk to my dog. This organization should be avoided for its ethics, if not investigated. I brought my dog here to get a grooming and have his vaccinations updated as we had just moved to the area. I made an appointment and asked them to call my vet to get the latest vaccination records (they offered to call). Three days later I arrive and they hadn't called my vet for the records. It was too early to call my old vet (on the west coast) so I tell them I'll just bring him back when they have the records. The attending assistant then offers that if they just give my dog a rabies vaccine, he'll be fine and they can groom him. I'm stunned--"you want to give my dog a vaccine that you're not sure he needs?" "Oh, he'll be fine," she tells me. That didn't happen. Next the doctor comes in for an examination. I had told them my dog has a sensitive stomach and the doctor determines (as my dog whinces as he reaches underneath) that he has gastroenteritis. The doctor proscribes treatment of scans and tests that cost over $500. The likely outcome, he tells me, is five days on an IV in their office to cure it. When I ask if there is a way to start with a test or two before plunging all the way ahead he tells me no, it's all or nothing. At the end, I asked about my dog's teeth because they are so hard to brush, hoping they can brush them as part of the grooming (which I always ask for). The doctor tells me that actually his teeth a very bad (funny he hadn't mentioned it before?) but a groomer can't do that. There is too much buildup. Only he can do that, and he will have to sedate my dog and scrape the buildup off of his teeth--he then adds another $450 to the services. As the total is near $1,000, I leave and decide to get a second opinion. So, worried about my best friend, I make an appointment for the next day with the Family Veterinary Hospital in Stone Ridge. They did a physical and ran a test that cost me $90 to confirm that my dog doesn't have gastroenteritis. In addition, my dog didn't need a rabies vaccine--something NOVA was willing to give him just to groom him--for another year. I also ask them about my dog's teeth, which they say has very little build up and doesn't require such a cleaning. In fact, they recommend that I just use doggie dental wipes for cleaning his teeth and even get on Amazon to show them to me. I bought some for $14. Warning, warning, warning: I can only draw a conclusion from my experience that this pet hospital cares more about billing clients than an animal's health. They repeatedly offered services that were unnecessary and were willing to put my dog at risk in the process. I can't tell you in any stronger terms to look elsewhere and don't trust your pet to this group. read more

My office is in Chantilly and I have an incredibly energetic little 13 month old dog who has been coming with me to my office since we got him at 8 weeks. As he's matured, it became very evident he needed a place to go to run and play under caring supervision. I found NOVA Pets on Yelp and decided to give them a try. After an exam with Dr. Massoud - who clearly loves animals and who frankly helped identify allergies in the little guy (something my own Vet seems to have missed!) - we determined Doggie Day Camp was a good option. Yesterday was his first day. Picking up my little guy last night was a pure joy - the very caring team video'd his play for me to see (my dog and another regular attendee of day camp fell in love...) - and he was happy, calm, fed and very well exercised. I'm SO GRATEFUL to have found NOVA Pets - finally my little guy gets to enjoy his days playing and I get to enjoy the peace in knowing he's under expert care. (And fyi - I'm a woman and didn't experience the sexism referenced in another review at all...not sure what happened there but I suspect Dr. Massoud will take this feedback very seriously and do what he can to correct what I hope is a misperception of intent.) read more
