Novaria Coffee always hits! One of my favorite coffee shops in Pittsburgh! I've been here a few times, and the staff is always so nice and helpful. There are a limited number of seats, but I've never had an issue finding a spot. It's the perfect place to grab a coffee and get some work done!
Novaria is my favorite coffee shop in Pittsburgh. The staff and owner are so welcoming and very kind. I have not tried much of the drink menu, but that's because I tried the baklava matcha first and it was incredible. They have a lot of Syrian pastries that are really yummy. My favorite is the pistachio baklava. I come here every time I'm in the strip. I love to have a seat near the open window in the front and take a break from shopping here.
I can't believe I haven't reviewed Novaria yet. I stop in here often. Great Strip District location and I nearly always find a street parking spot nearby. They have some serious equipment here and are making fantastic coffee drinks, as well as seasonal Matchas which are a recent favorite of mine. I love that they bring Syrian influences to their drinks and pastries, giving you the opportunity to try something that isn't like everywhere else. Try the Back Home latte with cardamom and date, or a specialty pastry. The pistachio cake when they have it is my favorite thing here. The coziest atmosphere for meeting up with friends or using as a third space. I can stop in with my dog if we are roaming the Strip, and the owner and staff simply couldn't be nicer.
Stopped in yesterday for the first time while in the strip. I wanted to try something different so I asked for a recommendation and they recommended the Back Home latte. The service was fantastic and this is such a cute little coffee shop with some seating very quaint. My drink was very good & not too sweet. And I have to say it was the prettiest latte I ever received!

The staff and owner are consistently friendly and welcoming, which makes the experience even better. The ambiance inside is warm and inviting, and it is even nicer on a beautiful day when they open the front to Penn Avenue. I highly recommend stopping by Novaria if you are in the Strip District.
I stop in here sometimes when I'm in the strip district. Every time I go, the staff is always so friendly. The space itself it open and airy which I appreciate. I've had both the macha and chai lattes. Most recently, I added a splash of vanilla to my chai latte and it was perfection. They also have a small selection of Syrian snacks. My favorite is the Syrian hummus. So good! Definitely check this place out- right in the heart of the strip!
Wonderful little coffee shop that I think is also pretty new. It may be the only Syrian coffee shop in Pittsburgh! I got to try their back home latte and the date maamoul. Initially, I had ordered one of their homemade muffins, but they were all out of those, so they replaced it with a date maamoul. This treat was relatively small but still pretty good. Nice filling that's not too sweet, but pretty crumbly and just not really my type of pastry. I probably wouldn't get it again. I did really like the back home latte, though. It was the perfect balance of spice, warmth, and sweetness, with hints of date and cardamom. A good chunk of the date paste seemed to settle at the bottom of the cup, though, so maybe give it a little shake if you let it sit. All in all, very quaint and homey. Would like to try more items.
What a find! This is a Syrian cafe in the Strip district surrounded by various stores and restaurants. The quality of the coffee is really good. I tried their Back Home Latte (which has date paste and cardamom). It only had subtle sweetness which I loved, and it really was delicious. My husband got traditional Arab coffee and he enjoyed it. The pastry, kleisha was wonderful with various spices and date paste, once again not sweet at all! All their traditional pastries are made in house. The service was really friendly and helpful. They pretty much said we'll cater the drink to whatever your needs are The space is not large, but just enough seatings (they also have small seating area outside). Cannot wait to come back here next time!
I honestly like the coffee a lot the ambiance, the barista was so knowledgeable and very helpful in explaining their menu and you can smell the coffee across the street. Recommend the Syrian coffee and some peaceful place to get some work done.

Unique coffee shop in the strip. I ordered a Syrian coffee and my friend ordered a rosewater matcha. They also have standard coffee drinks if you're not feeling as adventurous. The presentation of my coffee was beautiful and I really enjoyed the little cookie served on the side. Reasonable prices and service was very friendly. I think this coffee shop is a nice addition that harks to the diversity of the strip district and will definitely come back!
I'm visiting Pittsburgh for a short trip and really craved a great coffee, and I found it at Novaria Coffee! I got the Back Home latte (iced and warm) and it was so delicious both ways. I was a bit hesitant to order this because of the date paste, but it's quite actually a perfect sweetener. The drink itself isn't too sweet and is so delicious with the cardamom notes. I am so obsessed and would highly recommend anyone to try this latte and shop in general. I'll definitely be back!
Novaria is a cute Syrian coffee shop in the Strip District. It looks like a small store front, but is much roomier inside. The staff were very friendly and the menu had lots to choose from. The seating area was comfortable. I ordered a Kleicha (the National cookie of Iraq). It was delicious and the perfect compliment to my coffee. read more
Really delicious drinks and great vibes! I really like Novaria for their specialty drinks, and their flavors are always on point. The Baklava Matcha is one my favorites, and they have one of the best matches in the area! It's a nice place to relax and hang out, my only problem is that the drinks are pretty expensive ($7+ for a small) but for once in a while, it's pretty worth it! read more

Wonderful little coffee shop that I think is also pretty new. It may be the only Syrian coffee shop in Pittsburgh! I got to try their back home latte and the date maamoul. So great!! Stumbled upon here while walking around in the Strip and I'm glad I did! I got the iced back home latte which had date paste and cardamom. I'm definitely super picky about my coffee and hate when it is super sugary and sweet. This latte had the perfect mid level of sweetness and great flavor! The espresso was super smooth too. My boyfriend got the classic vanilla oat milk latte and it was good too! read more

It's a small Syrian cafe but the vibes are amazing. The coffee was 4.5/5 and the spinach pocket pastry I had was 3/5, the filling was quite dry for my liking. The people are really warm and friendly though. read more
Back home latte was great! It's espresso, milk, date paste and cardamom-- definitely on the stronger side, with the date paste and cardamom balancing out the natural bitterness of coffee very well. Also tried their pistachio rose water matcha, which was more pistachio forward. There's several individual/two person tables inside as well as couches in the back. Staff was very friendly and drinks came out quickly. read more
Craving a hot chocolate. Likes were quite long at Allegheny tea on a cold day in the strip but it was quick and easy here and the prices and size of drink were good. Service was quick and ambiance good. It was a good stop for a bustling and busy shopping day. read more

Really cute Syrian coffee shop in the strip district! Menu includes both classic and unique coffee drinks. Unique drinks including a shakerato and oji which is a Japanese style of drip coffee. Nicely decorated on the outside and inside. There's some seating inside and a small table outside. The guy who was working here was really friendly and helped me decide what to order. I first ordered the back home latte - a latte with date paste and cardamom. The flavor was unique and interesting but I learned that I don't think I love cardamom so it wasn't my favorite. I also thought it was a little on the sweet side. I tried a different latte another day, the honey oat vanilla latte. I thought this one was delicious! It kind of tasted like cereal milk, in a good way. I usually order drinks less sweet and would recommend ordering this one as is. It's really nicely balanced. They have a pistachio rose water matcha on the menu that I'm interested to try one day too. They sell some pastries and other food items as well. I tried the za'atar croissant which was flaky, seasoned well, and delicious. read more

Super nice staff, the chai tea latte was so comforting, and the dessert was a tasty treat. Free wifi and plenty of tables with plugs for those who want to come to work, or couches for lounging. Accessible but gender-segregated restrooms. Street parking. Wanted to stay longer but I couldn't because the high ceiling made it hard to heat the place. I bet it's stellar in warm weather, when they can open up the front. read more

This place was sooo good. We came here last fall to watch the Steelers play the browns and the day before spent the day in downtown and The Strip area. Needed an early afternoon pick me up and walked in the place that looked a little different. I'm always looking for something new to try that something I can't find just anywhere so when I seen they had Turkish coffee and Syrian type coffees I just had to try it. I was so happy I did. I got the Back Home latte and it was so good. I think about that coffee sometimes. I'm going to try and find something like this here in LA where I'm from. But if I'm ever back in Pittsburgh I'll be sure to make a stop here to start my day off right. Oh and did I mention the owners were so nice and helpful and answered my questions about the coffee. Really nice chill place in the middle of the busy Strip. read more

I mean, DAMN!!!!!! Syrians, once again have managed to create something amazing and significant!!!!!!!!!!!!! Great coffee, great bakery, and great atmosphere! The staff (Ahmad, and Mohanad) were beyond generous, and kind. I ll absolutely be back. Love love this place. What a cute coffee shop! It's the perfect place to stop for a quick drink to take on your walk around the Strip. There's also seating inside you prefer to sit down. The barista was incredibly friendly! We had a latte and a hot chocolate and both had beautiful latte art! read more
I stopped by here yesterday with my wife and her parents for our morning coffees. My wife and I had wanted to try cafe Novaria since I had found it on Yelp. It's located right on Penn Ave in the heart of the strip and the front of the store is fairly non descript. Then the inside has concrete floors with some painted concrete block walls, wood walls and an exposed brick wall. Not surprisingly, they also have exposed ductwork and a bunch of artwork for sale. For our coffees on this morning I went with the back home latte (espresso, milk, date palm, cardamom) while my wife went with the honey oat vanilla latte. Since it was just a single guy working, it wasn't the quickest place but he was doing everything right including weighing the coffee. After a little bit we had our coffees and were on our way. My latte here ended up tasting good as you could really taste the coffee first and foremost with a nice hint of sweetness and spice from the date and cardamom on the finish. As I got closer to the bottom I did get some chunks of the dates from the date paste which makes sense with the ingredients used. The bottom line for me is that I would stop by here again in the future. Everyone in my party liked their coffee and I would be interested in trying some of their pastries as well. read more

Cute new coffee shop on Penn Ave in the Strip! The owner served us at the counter and was very friendly and excited to be in the neighborhood. I took his recommendation of a sugar free hazelnut latte & it was very good. I liked that it wasn't overly sweet. I also got a cherry cheese danish that was delicious!!!! There are a few tables and a seating area with comfy chairs and couches. This is a great addition to the Strip District! read more

Super cute Turkish coffee spot that recently opened in the strip! The space is small, but comfortable, and the staff is very friendly. I ordered the Turkish coffee and the sesame cookies. The coffee is a 4oz pour and the presentation was everything. The coffee was black and smooth and the cardamom flavor really comes through both in taste and smell. If you tend to like black coffee, this will be the perfect choice for you. The sesame cookies were light and also lightly sweetened. My friend had the vanilla oat milk latte and I had a sip.. it reminded me of marshmallows! Very tasty. The bathroom was clean and stocked with paper towels and soap. read more
