Lemon mint "refresher" in a PLASTIC CUP
    D C.

I'm writing this review during my fifth visit. I've tried the iced Afters latte, the lemon mint refresher, and the turkey panini on different occasions. The quality varies from day to day depending on who's working. The staff tends to hide in the back (as mentioned by other Yelpers) and come across as impersonal. It's like a bus depot or gas station. They won't know you from Adam even if you're a regular. Some baristas will kindly bring your drink to your table while others holler out your order amid the chatter and groovy music like you're a llama named Tina waiting to be called to dinner. The first time I tried the turkey panini, it was amazing. I think the barista used a cheese not intended for the recipe because it was gooey and delicious. Every other time I've ordered it, I've been unimpressed. It tastes like something made out of desperation on a night when someone was hungry enough to throw together all the leftovers in their refrigerator attempting to create a "sandwich." Would not recommend the cold, dry turkey. Generally speaking, on a Saturday, you'll find a long line and no place to sit. On a weekday, there are plenty of seats to choose from with the wooden booths being the most popular and where folks tend to homestead. I never spent time in this space before it became Afters, so I don't know what was here before. It does seem to be a bit of a tight squeeze. The freestanding tables barely fit a laptop and your coffee. Today I ordered the lemon mint refresher which is really just a minty frozen lemonade. Every other time I've been here, I've been served the drink in a GLASS. I try to bring my own reusable glass straw to do what I can for the environment. This evening they served my refresher in a PLASTIC CUP with a bubble lid. I'm really irked by that as I type this review. And to confirm my theory about the variable quality, today the refresher is sour!

I'm currently doing a Pittsburgh Spring coffee crawl with a discount card that gives me $5 off at about 10 local coffee spots. I have been to many of them before but I've never been to Afters. I noticed it in Squirrel Hill right near Dobra Tea so found a convenient street parking spot and popped in. When I said I'd never been there before, my server recommended the Afters Latte, which includes cardamom flavor. That sounded great to me and it was delicious. I sat in one of their cozy booths to drink it for a moment and this whole place has such a warm vibe. Service was also super nice. I look forward to coming back to see what other drinks and food they offer!

really liked the Afters Latte here, great homemade syrups, really nice staff and great vibe too. Not a ton of seating but nice and cozy, with a lot of different food options too! My real issue is how insanely expensive the drinks are. $7+ for a small iced latte is so ridiculous and while I think it was really tasty, I just can't see myself coming here often. Love the late hours and everything else, and I love supporting new small business, but I hope they adjust their pricing in the future.

Met a friend at Afters on a snowy Sunday morning. There was plenty of seating, and service was prompt. I ordered the Honey Vanilla Oat Latte and my friend had the Afters Latte. Both drinks were pleasant but very lightly flavored. After ordering, I noticed they offer authentic Turkish coffee, which I'm excited to come back and try.

I stopped by here a couple of Sundays ago with my wife and our twins for our morning coffee. Every weekend we try to hit up a new local coffee shop, and on this morning we decided to go to Afters Cafe. Afters Cafe is located right on Murray Avenue in Squirrel Hill. From the outside, the shop looks small, but there is plenty of seating once you get inside. In addition to the seating, there is a counter to order coffee and a display case with pastries. There was no menu on the wall and only a single laminated menu available where you place your order. For my coffee this morning, I went with the Afters latte while my wife chose an iced honey vanilla oat latte. Since my wife was also hungry, we decided to order a cheese handpie from the display case. My latte is described as featuring a house made brown sugar cardamom syrup, while my wife's drink is described as a house made vanilla bean syrup with a honey infusion. Service here was more relaxed than I am used to, so it took a bit of time before our drinks were ready. Both my wife and I enjoyed our coffees. My latte was sweet at the start, followed by a nice cardamom flavor in the middle, and finished with some coffee flavor at the end. The handpie was decent, at least in my opinion. My wife was not as big of a fan, as she felt it was on the breadier side, which she did not care for. The bottom line for me is that I would stop by here again in the future. Both my wife and I really enjoyed the coffee and the flavors, though my wife was not a big fan of the handpie and the service was definitely on the slower side.

The coffee here is so good. They use the 19 coffee company beans. I got the Afters latte which is cardamom and brown sugar. Definitely recommend. They also have Turkish coffee, and some Turkish snacks like Turkish Delight. Staff are friendly and it's a smaller building but still has lots of seating options!

It has a roastery, bakery, and several cafes in Southwestern Pennsylvania, and it provides training and equipment to other businesses. My husband and I were customers of this cafe in the Squirrel Hill neighborhood one time. The menu listed coffees, espressos, lattes, teas, hot cocoa, cookies, muffins, scones, sandwiches, etcetera. A refrigerator contained yogurts, juices, oat milk, and other bottled beverages. Shelves held bags of coffees and kettles. Employees kindly took my husband's order and payment and promptly made our beverages. Some tables and chairs were inside the cafe, so we sat down to enjoy our beverages. Other customers were using the dining area to read, spend time with family and friends, and work on laptops. I rate the Chai Latte has 5 stars and the holiday Sugar Plum Latte as 4.5 stars. We enjoyed their flavors. Each beverage was 12 ounces, and their total price was $11 plus tax and tip. I did notice that the cafe was very humid because of the cold weather outside and the many customers inside. The windows had much condensation. I wonder if a dehumidifer would reduce the indoor humidity.

This coffee shop is located right on South Braddock Avenue in Regent Square and has both an outdoor ordering window and an indoor space. Since my wife and kids were waiting in the car and the sign said the window was served first, I decided to go that route. Because of that, there is not much more to say about the space itself other than I ordered from the sidewalk through a window. For my coffee I went with a large blueberry latte which I had seen recommended on Yelp. My wife went with an iced brown sugar cinnamon latte. Both drinks were ready within a couple of minutes and I was quickly on my way. Both my wife and I really enjoyed our coffees. The coffee itself was strong, bold and present. The syrups were flavorful and well balanced so they came through more on the finish and lingered nicely. They were not overly sweet and added a nice layer of flavor. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. Both my wife and I really enjoyed our coffees, so it is an easy return for us.

My favorite dish so far is the Caesar omelette which comes with smoked salmon and some nice salad plus toast. The omelette is big, salad too, though the toast felt a little light. My wife got the Tolstoy bowl, which came with two poached eggs, some peppers, and a heaping pile of potatoes. Good but a bit skewed toward potatoes. My mom got one of their egg sandwiches, which seemed very standard (their sandwiches all come with a good side salad).

In the meantime, we ordered two madeleines, which were beautifully baked with a light orange flavor and were definitely the highlight of the visit. At that point, we decided to give up on the sandwich plan. Overall, I would still come back because the bakery itself was charming and the madeleines were excellent, but the timing around sandwich availability was frustrating and worth knowing ahead of time.
