We truly enjoyed everything The Fountain On Locust had to offer…read more As far as appetizers go, the Flaming Tomato Tango and spinach and artichoke dip were both delicious. The Flaming Tomato Tango was my favorite part of the entire meal. The Royal Grille sandwich was really unique. The orange cream cheese isn't too overpowering, and all of the flavors work really well together. Be sure to upgrade to the Billy Chips ~ you won't regret it! If we're ever back in the area, we'll definitely be back.

Our both was comfortable for two but would have been a bit crowded for four. If you are in a party of 3 or more, I suggest reserving a table. We ordered the artichoke dip and tomato tango bread. Both were excellent but the tomato tango was the star. Baked goat cheese and spicy tomato dip, served with house-made garlic crostinis - I could have made that into an entree! For a main course, I enjoyed the Royale Grille - the restaurant's signature adult grilled cheese has white cheddar, mozzarella, Fuji apple slices, and orange cream cheese spread on whole wheat bread. A perfect blend of sweet and savory. And it really was a perfect blend. Order them with a side of Billy Goat Chips! Coffee was good! Save room for ice cream. We did not and I will regret that for a long time!

I can say in my humble opinion that Shiver's is the better custard. Living nearby, I have finally learned that you don't have to be a kid to order the kiddie size. By ordering the kiddie, I can save calories and perhaps be able to stop by twice during the week instead of limiting myself to one treat. I think Kiddie Size can also be called a, Senior Size. As we age, our appetites are like they use to be. Last night I couldn't pass by when I saw the FOTD (Flavor of the Day) was, Gooey Pecan Pie. I'm really not a Gooey person, but Pecan Pie is my favorite pie, so I couldn't resist. I ordered a Kiddie Concrete. It was rich in flavor and had large pieces of Pecan. I even had full sized pecans in my cup covered in the Gooey sauce. It was the perfect sweet treat to end the day. As a reminder, Shivers is also a coffee shop in the early mornings. So you can also get your caffeine fix, too. I also gotta tell you that they're dog friendly and offer free Pup Cups. Dog must be present to receive the Pup Cup. No To-Go orders for the pups.

You don't realize how big the cup they use for three scoops is until they start putting ice cream…read morein it and it's like, Whoa, do I really need $10 worth of ice cream? Well, I guess it's not really $10 worth of ice cream. Certainly, it's not $10 worth of ice cream by 1990s standards. Once, I could go get an entire tub of Schnucks store-brand mint chocolate chip with weirdly strong artificial flavoring (arguably the GOAT ice cream) with the change found between the seat cushions in the station wagon I used to drive. You'd die trying to eat $10 worth of that. Eventually, you might die eating Clementine's. It'll run you, but you get a lot of calories for your dollar. It might even be a good value, depending on how you look at it. They pack it into those little tubs, too. No Diddy. They fill the tub and then they pile it high on top. It's the ol' Five Guys strategy of charging you money out the ass and then giving you more food than you require, as if they're doing you a favor. Uh, thanks? All of the flavors I had were really good, but they were incredibly rich, to the point where after a while they get to be a bit much. They had a mouthfeel almost more along the lines of butter than the cheap ice cream I should be buying (I've been known to eat soft serve from QT), and I'm assuming that's because they have a nutritional profile that's not altogether different. As one of the girls from my running group pointed out, after a while the flavors all kinda run together. Part of it's that they actually melt into each other, and part of it's I'm sure just palette fatigue. I went with three scoops. The ideal order here might be two: enough that you don't feel ripped off, or that you came a long way for nothing, but not so much that you somehow develop delayed onset lactose intolerance in your 40s. Of the three flavors that I had, I liked the Salted Caramel Cookies + Cream, Heritage Mint Chip and Gooey Butter Cake, in that order. But you really can't go wrong with any of those. The Gooey Butter Cake is their signature, but I'm a mint chip brother, as previously discussed. The Salted Caramel Cookies + Cream might be their top flavor. It was my favorite of the ones that I tried, and a girl from our group whose opinion I trust said it's the best.
