This is my favorite coffee shop in the area. The coffee is always great. The baristas have been overly kind and willing to help me decide on a drink or explaining milk options available. There's not a ton of seating and the space is small, but it's cozy and especially great in the context of getting a coffee to go. They also have exceptional baked goods. Like the greatest muffin I've ever had - it's a cappuccino muffin or something like that. I have to get it anytime I go. The gooey butter cake (stl local sweet treat) is also excellent. Located off Park Avenue in Lafayette Square, this cozy coffee shop has street parking. Be careful entering as there's a rather large step. I was greeted the moment I entered the establishment and received excellent, warm and friendly service. They have pretty much every hot or cold coffee variation, except no cold foam. I appreciated that they have sugar-free syrup options. I ordered a cold brew and I think Park Avenue has some of the best coffee around. It's in my top three favorites. They have a selection of various muffins and several varieties of gooey butter cake but you need to get there on the earlier side for the best selection because they do run out. This is the friendliest and cutest place to grab a drink and treat and take with you for a stroll through Lafayette Park. From the baristas to the customers, everyone was so kind and friendly. Highly recommend the gooey butter cake, pumpkin bread and the mango smoothie. They have several different flavors of gooey butter cake. My favorite in the fall is the pumpkin gooey butter cake. We read that this is the place to get the famous gooey butter cake in STL! We actually got one from Missouri Baking Company prior to getting Park's. We tried both side by side and determined that Parks is better and a better representation of what we think the cake should taste like. The Missouri Baking company gooey butter cake had too much of an almond taste to it, which sometimes too much almond can taste artificial. Parks had no almond taste and it was actually tasting like a butter cake. It also wasn't too dense and they had a variety of flavors. We got the original and the chocolate one. So good! read more

The staff and coffee/treats are delicious. But I'm really disappointed to see the state of the patio which used to be a beautiful, popular gathering place to meet friends for coffee. I visited last fall and the state of the patio was a mess. Full trash cans and very unkept. I chalked it up to it being the end of the season. However, I visited again today and it is as unkept as ever. Furniture in disrepair. Bamboo laying across the patio. Dirty. And this is on the weekend of Lafayette Square's House Tour Weekend where you'd hope things would be in tip top condition. I hope some much needed maintenance and attention will restore this beautiful respite that once existed. read more

The white chocolate raspberry was our favorite gooey butter cake. The traditional was our second favorite, and we found the other flavors to be overly sweet. However, the texture was indeed gooey and soft, and had a nice chew on the edge pieces. Bacon Cheddar Scone - This was an unfortunate miss. What a gem in Lafayette Square! This was my first trip to Park Ave Coffee and we were very impressed! We ordered two different iced coffees- a brown sugar latte and a thai coffee. Both were amazing with a perfect combination of sweetness and slight bitterness. Although we had not intended to buy anything else, the chocolate chip scone was too tempting to not try! We were visiting St.Louis on the weekend & were on a hunt on a Sunday for Gooey Butter Cake, and the people of Reddit claimed this was the place to go... and they were not wrong. The individual pieces of gooey butter cake have gotten absurdly small -- literally about the size of a card from a deck of cards, if not smaller. For four dollars, that does not work. It is also a bit shady in that they go back to the back to get your slice, come back with it boxed up, after you've already paid. If anyone from the company reads this, do better. read more

One of my coworkers sent me a delicious butter cake from here and I HAD to rave about it. First of all, shipping cake is incredible. I feel like more bakeries need to do this. It came with instructions on how to keep it fresh for as long as possible and let me know I didn't even need to heat it up. It was awesome! It was packaged super well and the entire cake was still in tact. It even came with a handwritten card from my coworker, which was so sweet. As soon as I got it, I couldn't wait to eat it, but figured I should probably wait for my husband. When we both got to dive in, WOW!!! It was such a perfect cake to eat with my coffee (which makes sense that it came from a Coffee spot, too). It was sooo goey, delicious and tasty!!! Seriously, I keep dreaming about it. Sadly, I was in this Park Avenue coffee location earlier this week on Tuesday between customer meetings (and have been there probably 20 times), and had a very poor customer experience. From out of nowhere, it started to really rain hard outside, and we only had 20 minutes before the shop closed, so I kindly asked if we could stay till after the storm passed through. Please note this was one of the strongest storms we've had, and yet the barista said no, we close at 2 PM, and that we could not stay in their shop, and had to leave when they closed, despite the pouring rain and emergency sirens going off. Now, I understand when employees want to go home, and may have other jobs, but this seemed like a no-brainer. Finally, as our SVP and I were walking out the door, after packing up our laptops, the same employee said we could stay for 10 minutes, but it was too late. This really soured me on ever going back to this location of Park Avenue Coffee, or any of them. For the owner's sake, I encourage a review of your safety policies, and then make some changes and help coach their employees on better customer service, and safety precautions, especially as it can be quite slippery on the bricks outside of their shop, let alone when walking out into a fierce thunderstorm. read more

It's funny how 2020 has made the little things I used to take for granted so much more special and enjoyable. Had to run a few errands this morning before starting work for the day, and I decided to treat myself to a fresh cup of coffee and pastry while I was out. Typically I make my coffee at home along with my breakfast as part of my new work from home routine. It's just SUCH a treat when I get to go to a shop, support a local business, and get fresh coffee. Park Avenue in Lafayette Square was smack dab in the middle of the route I was taking. I think that typically I forget that this little shop is there. Today, I'm glad that I passed it! Due to COVID precautions you must have a mask on to enter. The baristas were also masked. The furniture they usually for people to sit and read or meet with friends have been moved out. It's kind of sad, but I'm thankful Park Avenue is doing their part to stop the spread. The barista at the register was SO nice. Like really nice. I didn't catch her name, but she really was a bright spot in my morning. I changed my mind on my order like four times. She just chuckled each time, and it didn't seem to mind my indecision. I finally landed on a pumpkin chocolate scone. Park Avenue REALLY excels in the baked goods department. Anything I've ever had is always spectacular. Today was no different. I usually find scones to be really too dry and end up dunking them in my coffee. But today, this scone was delightfully moist. I was nervous that the pumpkin would be overpowering, but luckily it was very well balanced with the other spices. The chocolate was rich! Loved having this sweet treat to start my morning. Park Avenue was also already gearing up for the holidays. The coffee sleeve was red and festive! I ordered the medium roast coffee, not knowing that it seemed to be a holiday blend. Wow, was I surprised!! It had so much flavor. I got a hint of clove that added a lovely deepness to the brew. While I don't look forward to colder weather, I can definitely imagine warming up all season long with this holiday blend. read more

We live right down the road, and love Park Avenue on a weekend morning. They're doing a great job socially distancing, and they all wear their masks. They have GREAT espresso drinks (I could drink their raspberry mocha like water), and their customer service is top notch. The more I go, the better it gets. We live nearby and we have been making a huge effort to go to locally owned/small coffee chains for the past few years now. Coming here was one of our worst experiences. The coffee was only mediocre, but what really mattered was the girl they had working. She was one of the worst people I've ever encountered in customer service, anywhere. Terrible demeanor. I have been frequenting Park Avenue lately since my maternity leave. I wasn't that impressed when I tried them years ago but I feel much differently now! The iced lattes are delicious and the flavors are creative. I love that they serve Thai iced coffee and the lavender brown sugar flavor is really nice for summer. The muffins are great I love the cinnamon one and the cappuccino chip is a close second. They have a ton of gooey butter cake flavors which I know they're known for. I'm not a gooey butter cake fan (don't kill me I'm not from St. Louis) but if I were I would definitely stop by here.
