Today, I literally had to leave because when I walked in, there was no one behind the counter, I stood there for a few minutes until someone finally came out out of the back section, and then I assume, went behind the counter to tell the worker that I was waiting. When the worker came out, she had a bunch of cookies in her hands that she then had to proceed to fold and put into a bag and then she started making the coffee of two people that were sitting at the counter while I was still just standing there. She did acknowledge me, which I appreciate, but at that point, I have been standing there for at least five minutes and I still hadn't ordered my coffee. I told her that I had to leave because I had to get to work and went to Starbucks instead, which I really didn't want to do. But this has been a pattern with this place- either they're not hiring enough staff, the staff that they have is overwhelmed or something is going on. I've been coming here for almost a year- and I definitely would prefer to patronize a local Shop, but not if it's gonna take five minutes to even just get my order taken when I am literally the only person in line. Also, I wanna add, I literally used to come here three times a week. This is not a new experience, but this one has really taken it over the top. Like I said, I want to support a local coffee shop, and I want to like this place, but particularly in the morning when people are on their way to work, this type of delay is totally unacceptable. I got the brown sugar lavender latte, the avenue sandwich, a bacon, egg and cheese croissant and a cranberry orange muffin. Everything from here was 10 out of 10! The service was amazing and the atmosphere was so welcoming and everything I would want out of a coffee shop. Upon entering their space, I was greeted by the lady working the counter and as well by the owner as he was moving around the store. The owner offered me a sample of either a scone, cinnamon roll or the bread. I opted to have a slice of the cinnamon chip bread. I was so delicious. The bread was so delicious. I did order a breakfast sandwich on honey wheat toast (made in house). It came with Canadian bacon, cheese and egg. It was good, nothing too fancy. They sell fresh baked bread, and pastries. I'll definitely come back to buy a loaf or two.
