Carbonara is Great!!!!! Every time we go every item has a wonderful flavor. Bread is addictive, lemon cookies are also addictive. Alittle pricey but worth the cost. And service is good also very friendly. Recommend over and over to anyone. read more

Got takeout on a Friday night--ordered in advance and it was ready at exactly the time I wanted. Brussels with maple vinaigrette and crispy onions were the highlight. Veal meatball appetizer was flavorful with a perfect texture. The pomodoro sauce was a great dip for the bread that came with the meal. Squid ink chitarra also very good with a deep seafood flavor and fresh pasta texture. It was slightly under salted, but was an easy fix at home. Bavette steak was cooked as expected and went nicely with perfectly cooked mushroom barlotto. Also slightly under seasoned, but an easy fix at home. All in all, a very nice meal that traveled well for takeout. Looking forward to going back either for takeout or in person. They had very nice plexiglass separations between the tables and bar stools so it definitely looks like they are staying as safe as possible. Highly recommend! read more

I tried Novella for the first time last night for takeout. Everything we tried was absolutely delicious. My wife's chicken piccata was amazing, and very generous in the portion. My Orecchiette was rich and amazing, with plenty of the house made fennel sausage... sooo savory. The Bucatini and Cavatelli Al Pomodora were a big hit with my daughters, and the meatball appetizer and beet salad were both fantastic. My husband and I finally tried Novella for a date night and we were blown away. I've been nervous to try dining in but it's getting colder so we took the plunge. The safety precautions at Novella made us feel safe but the restaurant was still gorgeous and romantic. The chef's board still has me dreaming of the cheeses, the wine list was perfection, and the pastas were so yummy. I ordered the squid ink and my husband got the orecchiette. Very happy with the service and food. Could have kicked up the pepper in the cacio e pepe but the noodles were luxurious. The pea purée with the raviolis made the dish. The mussels probably continued to cook since I carried out, so they seemed a little over but the spice level on the diavolo was restrained enough to let the other elements shine. read more

We had a table of four last night and the food and atmosphere were wonderful. My review, however, will focus on the service. Our dinner took 2.5 hours and we were not the ones setting that pace. We waited noticeably long to be greeted at the table - that was the first red flag. Our server was really nice but one hour into this meal, we had not received our appetizers yet. When we ordered our drinks, she could not describe one of the wines to my friend and tried to solve this by asking her manager. She was shooed away by him, so she asked the bartender, who also had not tried it. They sampled it together to try to describe it, but then the server realized that bringing a sample to my friend was probably the best solution. This whole process took much too long. When it was time to order food, my husband asked what could be made vegan on the menu, given that there was a vegan notation in the menu legend at the bottom but nothing was actually labeled vegan. The server did not know and asked my husband to remind her what vegan is. This is not her fault - it is clearly a training issue. And, if there is nothing actually vegan on the menu, don't put vegan in the legend... He finally made a suggestion himself and that's what she gave him. We also had to ask for more water multiple times. So, bottom line, the food is great but they could use an afternoon retreat for their staff where they review the menu and FAQs fully. read more

I took my Dad here for his birthday and we were both blown away by the food and the service. Our waitress and the owner was so beyond nice and helpful. Very personable and knowledgeable about the food, ingredients, and told us the story behind the name of the restaurant. My dad and I were very surprised that they had cavatelli pasta because no where in Columbus sells it. The past was cooked to perfection, their meatballs were amazing, the novella salad was incredible, the bread to start was impressive, and the charcuterie board was delicious. Went there for dinner tonight with my two small children and we were turned away at the door. They stated they were completely full and reservation only. This was not on their website and when I had called to make reservations, no one answered the phone. When we told the host he said there is only one phone and one host and they did the best they could. We were excited to try this place but if it's not reliable and if they don't state their status on the website, I can't trust I can take my two hungry kids here at all ever again. What kind of service is this? If you can't accommodate people, then why are you open or at least answer your phone when people try to call and make reservations so they know you are full or even make a voice-mail that states such. read more

Finally tried Novella tonight and I just have to say, these Italians were impressed! Everything was authentic, delicious, and meticulously presented. We started with the Ricotta Crostini which was the perfect amount of savory and spicy. For our entrees, we enjoyed the Cavatelli and the Ziti Verde. The pasta is made in house and you can definitely tell. I had never had anything like the Ziti Verde and it was impeccable. Both my husband and I cleaned our plates. We ended with the apple cider doughnuts which were plentiful and the homemade limoncello! We also enjoyed unique and tasty cocktails. Not only was the food worth the trip but the ambiance was great and they were going above and beyond in safety protocol with dividers between every table. I don't understand the trend that has music so loud we can't hear ourselves or the wait staff. That said our server did her best to ask manager to lower the volume. She conveyed his pathetic excuse. Honestly one of my favorite places for dinner and drinks. Perfect for date night, friends, and family! The wine choices are top notch with lots of affordable choices as well as high end bottles. Very SAD. This was our first time here and we were very excited to try it on our date night. The ambiance was nice, the wine was great, the food mediocre, but the service was TERRIBLE. It was like we weren't even there! The server brought us our wine and appetizer but never checked on us again. It was so bad that we decided not to even order our dinner, which was sad because I heard the food was so good. As we walked in the restaurant the manager was short and rude to us kinda wasn't a good start.We get seated and waited 10 minutes for our server to finally come to the table. We finally get a drink order in and lead to say the bottle of wine we wanted they didn't have so why is it even on the menu. Server I apologize our manager isn't the best at ordering stuff we run out of!!! We get our drinks and they were very tasty. We ordered some meatballs and chef board and it was excellent. Then our server disappeared and didn't see him for ten to fifthteen minutes and now my wife was getting irritated. Meanwhile the manager that was rude and very unprofessional to us was leaning against the soda machine playing on his phone. Sorry that looks very bad for the restaurant image. Finally we ordered our entrees and they came out and I was actually amazed very tasty and hot. The food was amazing but the front of house employees need a lot of work starting from the manager to the servers. There was a young gentleman bussing all the tables and I asked him does your manager help you and he said no he just barks orders. I felt bad for the kid because I could tell he was a hard worker. Being a restaurant owner that manager wouldn't even qualify to be a host at my restaurant and that's sad this caliber of a restaurant has this guy running it.
