I really can't recommend Loi and his crew enough. He is communicative, cares about the work he is doing, and did a fantastic job. He identified the big impact areas for my attic, and blew in a massive amount of insulation while also adding soffit vents to improve air circulation. His prices are competitive and fair, and he's totally up front about pricing and cost/benefit. No upselling/scamming that you see very commonly with other insulation companies. On top of that, he identified a dangerous short in a junction box while he was up in my attic and fixed it free of charge! When we bought our first home, our inspector told us the #1 thing we needed to get was new attic insulation and ducts. He told us to go get 3-5 quotes, and suggested not to chose the cheapest or the most expensive. As a very thorough person but first-time homeowner, I researched all I could about attic insulation, had my energy company come out and do an energy assessment (highly suggest this, it's very educational and CoServ does it for free), then had 12 (yes, twelve) companies come out for quotes. Not only was Loi the cheapest of 11 (1 company never sent me a quote), including beating out my Home Warranty company, he was the only person that was 100% looking out for my interests. He was completely transparent about his process, labor, and materials. Most importantly, he didn't try to upsell me on more expensive options by lying or putting on a show. I'm not accusing the other companies of overemphasizing the effectiveness of radiant barrier or foam, though taking 3 hours to use lasers to develop a plan to completely revamp the layout of my duct system was a bit over the top, I'm just saying that Loi was the only person who tried to convince me NOT to get the higher end options for diminishing returns (he also explained why). Loi took the time to sincerely educate me about my new home and while we only met for 15-20 minutes, it didn't feel rushed like with other companies, and not dragged out like with others. The accurate information he provides, in addition to not using strong-armed sales tactics like trying to close with repeated attempts at locking-in an appointment, are the highlights of NRG Pros, along with the simple fact that he didn't lie to my face. Some instances of him looking out for me, instead of his bottom line: For example, my roof has an overabundance of both ridge and soffit vents. I had multiple companies try to sell me unnecessary attic fans which would have caused my ridge vents to start drawing in air, rather than passively letting it out. This would actually have reduced the quality of my attic ventilation rather than improve it. Another example was installing an attic tent, instead of charging me $500, he told me to get one at Home Depot for $50 and showed me how I would do it myself. Yet another example, instead of charging me $250, Loi offered for free to patch up a hole I had in one of my soffit vents where birds and bugs were using to access my attic. One last example, Loi was the only company that even offered to check window and door seals. Because of the aforementioned energy assessment, I already knew if I had leaks. He correctly pinpointed the poor seal at my front door and, you guessed it, replaced it for free. Loi is professional, thorough, and honest. I hope I can save some of you the time and effort of gathering quotes and listening to (mostly insulting) sales pitches. I honestly would have went with Loi even if he gave me the most expensive quote, but that's a contradiction, it's just not in his nature. Since I have a gas and electric home I had to pay a small fee. He did not ask for any money up front. A few days later Loi and the crew came out to my house to start the work. His crew was clean and professional. While Loi started the paperwork with me his crew started to get to work. They took off their shoes and were very careful to watch the garage since it had to be opened. The work took about 3 hours. They explained to me everything that they were doing in the process. Loi and team did a phenomenal job. They removed three layers of old insulation, sanitized the entire attic, sealed all leaks between the attic and living areas, and installed brand new insulation. They are very thorough and have high attention to detail. They crawled through some very small spaces and took care of areas that didn't have insulation at all. And in addition, their quote came in significantly below that of the competition. Today is the coldest day on record in Dallas and I sure am happy we made this investment back in September and that Loi helped us with it. Loi came out to provide an estimate. He was not sure what the right application for my house was, fiberglass or foam, so he said he would call me back. After waiting a couple of days and not hearing back, I texted him and he recommended checking with a foam company. I had a foam company come out and they said that foam would not work but to go with fiberglass. I reach out to Loi to let him know what the foam company recommended and asked if he can add the fiberglass insulation. I never heard back. I tried to reach out a couple of more times and received no response. My guess is my job is either too difficult or too small so he is not interested in doing the work. It was past time to get the attic in our 50 year old home brought up to current standards. I contacted some companies that had good reviews on Yelp! to find out what it would cost. NRG Pros came out quickly to estimate/quote and was very competitive on the cost. We went with them and am very glad we did! Not only did they schedule quickly and do a great job, they went above and beyond. Loi found a duct that had been popped loose when workmen the week before had added ducting to keep my bathroom exhaust fans/outlet from getting buried in insulation. Loi showed me the issue, and while I watched he opened the duct insulation around it. As we discussed a fix, he offered to try to fix it. He was able to fix it better than the A/C guys (and took before and after photos that he showed me. In fact, he documented all his work with before and after photos.) He did this at no extra charge! One of my neighbors told me about the Oncor program (Take a Load Off Texas), but I didn't think I'd qualify. Turns out ... the services are free if you're on the Oncor grid and your house is all electric (very affordable to gas home owners). After sealing my house to see where the leaks are, they installed 12" of insulation in my attic and then weatherstripped and caulked all the ext doors and windows. Going through oncor's take a load off Texas program and they fund most of the bill. Super knowledgeable and did everything in their power to increase the efficiency of my home. NRG Pros is registered with the Oncor Take A Load Off Texas program, and that's pretty much the only work they do. They arranged an estimate for me over the phone and schedule a time to arrive, and were very prompt. Took off the Oncor rebate up front rather than making me pay the total and accept a rebate. Their crew worked quickly - literally a busload of guys came and had my 1750 square foot house done in about 100 minutes. In that time, they added fluffy new insulation to the entire attic, caulked all my windows, and installed weather stripping on all the doors. Owner Loi was hanging around explaining the work they were doing and he was super friendly. The entire staff was very pet friendly and helpful and they all seemed to really enjoy their jobs. Loi says the won a quality award from Oncor the past two years for their great work through the program, and I can see it from the way they paid attention to details and walked me through what they were going to do beforehand. By the end, they had reduced the airflow through the house by a third and I know that all the extra attic insulation will make a huge difference. read more
