I couldn't tell at the time when I questioned why the overall rate was so high. I went believing what the agent told me as it had to due with the deposit. Now I am waiting for customer service to provide me a refund.... Otherwise: - Shuttle. I appreciate the free shuttle to and from the airport. The shuttle back was interesting as there was no personality and the driver didn't help or talk to the other customers who were strugging with their luggages. - Counter time. We must have came at a very busy time as it took an hour to get to the counter to be serviced. I had this company as part of my package deal from Priceline and was STILL charged in additional fees and costs. Sadly, because none of the car rental places are located at the airports anymore I was stuck at 1240 AM. My choice was to leave? Not go to my hotel? They had me. I would strongly caution anyone considering NU Car Rental. Our party (along with another customer group) arrived on a scheduled flight just after midnight. NU Car Rental had our flight information and knew our arrival time. Their last shuttle arrived at 12:15am. The rental office closes at 12:30am. Despite active communication with the shuttle staff -- and the other stranded customers being on the phone with NU directly -- no one made any effort to resolve the situation. We heard the shuttle dispatcher tell the driver to leave us. When I asked for his name he refused to provide it. NU offered no extension, no alternative solution, and no accountability. As a result, we were left stranded at the airport after midnight with luggage and no transportation. If a company accepts reservations tied to flight arrivals, it is their responsibility to ensure customers can actually retrieve their vehicles. Closing a location while there is an active shuttle -- knowing customers are landing -- is either poor planning or indifference to customer experience. Awesome car rental place - line was a bit long but I got a free upgrade to a luxury Bimmer, a nice white 3 series BMW as well. There is a shuttle (has a number) that takes you to the spot where you get your car. Hassle-free check out and return also. Hope at night when a lot of flights and people come in they are able to have more staff for the desks (hence the long line that was slow). Great service and epic prices! They said we can pick another car the next day for which we again had to wait another one hour. All this time both days there were just two staffs and the service was slow. Flying out from Virginia to Colorado to ski for a week and needed to rent a car. NU car rental had the lowest rates for a 4X4 vehicle, so we booked it; even though we hadn't heard of that company before. Upon arrival to the airport, locating the NU car rental shuttle was very easy. Once we arrived via shuttle to the facility the entrance to the lobby was very lovely and spacious. Nice leather and clean couches for us to sit and wait while my husband checked in. We did have to upgrade to a larger vehicle as the vehicle description on the website wasn't entirely accurate and we needed a more spacious vehicle. Disappointed though that we had to stop and purchase new wind shield wipers as the ones on the car were trash. The company did refund us that money but it put us behind by 1 hour. We had no other issues with the vehicle. In fact, we had to extend by 1 day due to a flight cancellation and that was extremely easy. The most disappointing fact is that we apparently signed and opted out of the toll fee disclaimer, without evening knowing. Two months later we find out that we not only have to pay the tolls but NU car rental wins big from this as they charge a $15 toll violation plus a $30 admin fee per violation. Upon arrival at the office - which is well designed and gives one the impression that they'll be efficient - we encountered a line of 10 customers. There were 8 desks with only 2 occupied by staff. It took us 50 minutes to get to the front (At 30 minutes I actually looked up where the nearest Hertz was located.) and became clear that one of the clerks was simply chatting away with customers and, more importantly, constantly using up time by up-selling (insurance, toll pass etc). The other clerk was quicker but, unfortunately, we ended up with the chatty one. When asked how we were my wife said, "Good, we're just in a terrible rush." Nothing aggressive, just letting him know we needed to hurry after a 50 minute wait. This clerk, with a prominent "vocal-fry" (look it up), responded by, not kidding here, stepping back from his check-in counter and dramatically declaring: "I HAVE A PROCESS! DO NOT TRY TO PRESSURE ME!" !?!? Obviously he needs a bit more customer relation training as the correct response is simply, "I understand, we'll get you going as quickly as possible." Done. Customer's time concern dealt with. He went on to mention his up-sell options in an attempt to make us feel as though we were making critical mistakes - "Okay, you don't want a toll pass even though it's what you should do because you're in a rush." Everyone in line was aware of the delay this guy was causing - and customers in front of us turned around and voiced it to the line several times. 3 days later when we dropped off the car and walked through the office to get the airport bus, (maybe I shouldn't have complained about our line), the line was 15+ deep. Note the picture here on Yelp, a line - a dude with his hands on his hips describes the frustration spot on! It's worth just sticking with one of the bigger, more efficient car rental companies. I recently rented from this location and was assisted by Michelle. She never once mentioned nor offer the Collision Damage add on. After signing the paperwork, I noticed the charges were more than expected since I had already pre-paid for the rental. She assured me it was just a deposit and would be refunded upon return of the car. After returning from my trip and reviewing my receipt, I noticed the charge for the Collision Damage which was not offered and I did not authorize. Michelle made sure I kept signing away. From reading other reviews on here, the employees are not honest and will add on unauthorized fees. IF you rent from NU Car, be aware of Michelle and her sneaky ways!! This should be renamed NO! Don't DO IT! SCAM of all scam. It is just criminal how they shake customers down. The low price is to get you in and then the up sell happens. As I was gathering all the things they said I didn't have I watched customer after customer pay more money. One older couple asked if they had to have the toll pass he said yes. The I - 95 could be driven toll free in the area they inquired about only the commuter lanes charge. They paid 105 that week even if they drove in that lane its 50 cents a toll. I encourage anyone who has been a victim of this to file a complaint with the attorney general as I did. See if the state has a free mediation service to get your money back. This should be a class action law suit as they clearly misrepresent what you are getting and what you need to have. read more

I would rank it -5 if possible. The customer service here is terrible. I called after an airline delay ,to make sure the car was still available, they told me I could get a car ,perhaps a lesser car, since I missed my 2 hour window, mind you the window had not expired at this time. When I came to pick up they said they only had upgrades and wanted to charge double the over $500 weekly fee that had already been paid. I stood in line for way too long even though there was hardly anyone at this place. Then when the agent was supposedly searching for the promised vehicle, I was able to see that his screen was comparing the current last minute prices for other car rental companies. Once I got to the counter Tony gave me an inferior car than what I paid for. He also was dishonest about needing to buy toll coverage since I was going to Colorado Springs. Deceptive Practices and Poor Support - Avoid NU Car Rentals I rarely leave reviews, but my experience with NU Car Rentals was frustrating enough that I feel the need to warn others. Here's what happened: 1. Deceptive Toll Charges At pickup, I was told toll coverage was a mandatory charge and that I'd "save money" by adding it. This is simply not true. Tolls are only charged if you use toll lanes, not for driving on regular highways. NU charged me $11.99 per day regardless of whether I used toll roads -- a sneaky way to add $60 to your bill without reason. 2. Emergency Number Goes to Fax When I ran into trouble with a tire issue, I tried calling the number NU provided in the vehicle and on their website -- it rang through to a fax machine. Completely unreachable during an emergency. No backup contact, no alternate number. This lack of support is unacceptable for a rental company. 3. False Fuel Refill Claim At the counter, I was told I didn't need to refill the gas and that they would charge $2 less than market rate per gallon if I returned the car with an empty tank. I later found out that NU charges around $11+ per gallon, far above market rate, which is a predatory pricing tactic. Fortunately, I refilled myself -- but the lie could have cost me significantly. 4. Forced Vehicle Upgrade When I arrived, I was told my reserved sedan wasn't suitable for driving in the Rockies, and that the roads weren't "well done," so I should "upgrade for safety." I was pressured into paying an extra $20 per day for a larger vehicle -- which I now know was unnecessary. It felt more like a scare tactic than genuine concern. Rental company seemed fine up front. I had prepaid through Priceline for $226.30 and then at the counter paid $86.95 for the taxes and fees stuff. Trip happened at the end of May of 2025. In June 2025, had a random charge for $31.25 which I figured was for the stupid toll in and out of the airport. No biggie. Then end of July 2025 I get a charge for $64.15. I had disputed it through my bank but they came back and said it was legit. I reached out to Nu and they said it was the remaining toll and admin fee. Fine whatever. Suddenly March 2026 I get some collection notice in the mail for $183 and change stating it was pertaining to either a rental agreement or the car being in an accident. Wtf. I was never in a fucking accident and why would you try and charge me almost year later for what exactly?? This company is absolute bullshit so stay far the fuck away read more

Rented a truck in January 2026 for three nights. Very nice at pick up and told us one total cost which was either intentionally or unintentionally EXTREMELY misleading, or I would have never agreed. Then after I returned the vehicle exactly on time I received an email that I was being charged for a late fee. I had to prove I returned the vehicle on time with a parking lot receipt and video with time stamp. Then I called an agent and asked about the overall cost. Both the Denver agent and the phone agent did not make it clear what the total cost would be, which ended up over $200 more expensive than the original agreement. Several emails back and forth amounted to nothing but hollow "sorrys" while still charging an exuberant amount compared to the original rental agreement My advice: Rent somewhere else. If you have to rent through them, carve out lots of time at pick-up so you can question all the charges and lines of text in the agreement so you don't end up being charged over $200 more than anticipated. Also take videos of the video at pick-up and at drop-off. Put in the work because you have to protect yourself against this business unfortunately. read more

Furthermore their shuttle (singular) take so long to come around because they are very small and compacted on top of the fact that their location is no where near the airport it's almost 15-20 mins away from the airport! The rental process itself and getting to the rental car lot were quick and efficient. I have no complaints in that regard, and the vehicle was extremely clean. However, the service representative, Sky, was completely unprofessional. From the moment I approached the desk, he was abrasive. When finalizing the transaction, he began pushing upgrades, and when I asked questions to better understand them, he responded with, "Well, do you want the car or not?" This was unnecessary and disrespectful. When I noticed the total had increased to over $1,000--despite my original pre-order being $283--I asked for clarification on the charges. Instead of explaining, he simply smiled, which I found inappropriate given the situation. Additionally, I was charged for a car seat even though I had called the day before and was told there would be no charge. Had I been given accurate information, I would have brought my own. At the time of payment, Sky stated that I was required to use a credit card because debit cards are not accepted in case a customer "only has $300 in their account." My husband has called multiple times--each time he was told to call a different number. And each of those numbers led to a voice mail on which he left a message. That has been going on for over TWO weeks and he has yet to hear back from anyone regarding @NUCarRentals bogus claim of glass damage to a car we rented in April. In fact, the car was returned on April 24th, 2025 and the claim was not made until May 9th, 2025. So clearly if there was damage to that car, it was not done by us! I was able to communicate via text with Michelle, who was super helpful with the customer service department, even before picking up the car! Makenna at the desk was also very sweet! I was very disappointed with NU Car Rental's customer service and the way information was presented. When picking up the car, the agent asked me, "Would you like basic or full coverage?" This made me believe those were my only two options and that I had to choose one in order to get the car. I agreed to the basic option because it was cheaper. After receiving the car, I noticed I was charged more even though I had already paid in full. When I contacted the company, I was told that the coverage was an optional add-on and that I had agreed to it, so it was my fault. I tried to explain that I did not know it was optional and that nothing the agent said made it clear that I did not need to purchase it. I felt misinformed and misled. The car itself was fine--clean, no damage, and returned in the same condition. However, after researching, I found many other customers reporting the same insurance issues, which makes this feel like a pattern. If you decide to rent from this company, be very clear that you do not want any add-ons or insurance. Ask directly if anything is required to get the car, and if it is not, tell them to remove it.
