They gave me a complementary upgrade to a very cool Ford Expedition, and were knowledgeable and friendly throughout the process. ZERO STARS! Quite literally the worst possible experience I have ever had renting a car. The employees at this location and the customer service Budget provides is horrendous. I rented a car several weeks ago and not only did it take a ridiculous amount of time to get through the long line, it took even longer for the staff to find the 2 car seats I rented so we were just standing outside in the hot sun forever. Many employees were just standing around doing nothing. After dropping the car off at the end of the rental I thought I was done with Budget but no such luck. A few days later I get hit with close to $4,000 charge on my account. The employee at the drop off location clearly dropped the ball and didn't scan the car in correctly so they thought I still had the vehicle and was extending. It has taken countless phone calls and hours of my time to reverse this terrible mistake made by the budget staff. Not only that, but after the first charge finally was reversed over a week later, a few days after they hit me AGAIN with a $3,800 charge. COMPLETE INCOMPETENCE. After again many phone calls and frustration, I disputed the charge with my CC company and they only then finally reversed it on their end. BEWARE OF BUDGET!!!! I've rented from Budget before, though I can't remember if it was this specific location. Based on my experience using Fastbreak, I have to give them 5 stars. I selected my vehicle through the app, prepaid my reservation, and on the day of pickup I received both an email and a text with clear instructions on how to retrieve my vehicle once I arrived at Budget via the shuttle. When the shuttle dropped us off at the Fastbreak area, I followed the directions. Since this was my first time using Fastbreak, it took me a minute to understand the process. I waited briefly to ask the Fastbreak attendant just to make sure I was doing everything correctly. Once I located my assigned vehicle, I checked it over, took a photo of the license plate, and followed the remaining instructions to exit the parking lot. The entire process was quick and convenient. My only suggestion would be to improve the signage for locating assigned vehicles. There's also a TV screen that displays customer names, along with a sign instructing you to see an attendant if your name isn't listed. My name wasn't on the screen because I arrived later than my scheduled pickup time, so I wasn't sure if everything was still set up correctly. That caused a little confusion, but the attendant was helpful and pointed me in the right direction. Overall, Fastbreak made the pickup process easy, and I'd definitely use it again. Some of the questions and comments were: 1) Do you have proof that you work for Amazon? 2) I need to make sure that you work for Amazon, a lot of people fake commit fraud to take advantage of our corporate discounts 3) Are you sure you are here for work? 4) What exactly do you do for work? I understand they want to confirm my employment, but getting asked so many questions and comments about fraud, questioning if I'm here for work, asking too many questions about my role is weird, especially when you are an African American with dreadlocks who doesn't look like the "typical" corporate person. read more

I tried Budget this visit. Believe it or not, it's was an upgrade from the place I usually try. After this rental, I realize that it's not an upgrade. Longer lines, tension between the written word and the action, and a car that was possibly the worst performing car I've driven. The shuttle picked us up quickly, which was great! The driver was nice and helpful. Then, more than 30 minutes waiting, even after doing the online checkin. They needed to verify documents, so there is no benefit to the online checkin, you're in the same line as everyone. Was told I'd be charged a $200 deposit, no problem. Then, they charged a $250 deposit. That would have been ok, I just like to have words and action to match. The car was a standard SUV. The car was such a gutless gas-guzzling SUV. Returning the car was odd. I pulled up and into the line of cars. After 10 minutes, I began to go inside and a worker motioned for me to move the car over to the line next to the one I parked. I moved, he was gone. I just walked around the car and filmed its condition, took pictures of the clean interior, and the full gas level. I went to the bus. So very strange. And, the shuttle driver was great, a nice guy that was very helpful to everyone. The drivers earned the two stars. read more

Despite booking on Costco and declining all of his upsells, I was billed incorrectly (about $120 higher) for unnecessary 'add-ons' including FastPass, Fuel Charges, and other things. He refused to provide his name and other coworkers are in cohoots conspiring with similar bait-and-switch tactics as they, too, refused to provide this employee's name. If you do rent here, BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR BILL IS CORRECT. Even worse--not only were we provided a lower tier car; it was also missing parts (panels) to the car and exposed several electrical wiring. I try not to write really negative reviews unless it is truly warranted. This is more of a public service announcement. If you want to hear my advice on car rentals in Denver, skip to the bottom of this review. Arrived at the DEN airport and took the shuttle to this off-airport Budget location. During checkout, we were asked if we wanted a toll tag for $59.95 that covers all our tolls for the week. I told the rep, "that sounds like a lot, how much are tolls normally?" They asked us where we were going. When we mentioned going to Rocky Mountain National park, they said "round trip is $50+ so it will wind up being a wash". In reality, the pass is $59.95 + tax or $67.89. It is very unlikely you would do this, but if you take the tollway from the beginning to the end (14 miles SE of Denver city center to 20 miles N of Denver), it is $22.25. Long story short, we probably had $10 in tolls for the week. I don't mind a bit of upselling, but I think we were given very misleading information which is not ok in my book. When I start up the car, the rear left tire pressure is about 80% of what the other tires were at. This was obvious since it was shown on the digital dashboard. We spent about 30 minutes finding someone to help us fix that and then we were on our way. No issues with the car during the road trip. We filled up the gas twice, once right before returning the car (about 7 miles away). When I dropoff the car, the rep says that I am checked in and I could leave the keys in the car and that I'm ready to go. They don't say anything about gas and definitely nothing about a 40% full tank. After I get on my plane, I check my e-mail and see a charge of $113.89 for fuel service. 19.2-7.8 gallons @ $9.99/gal. It was about $3/gal at gas stations. I'm in the middle of disputing this right now, but between these two incidents this feels really scammy. I've rented cars dozens of times and this is the first major issue I've had with a big rental car company. My advice: "Just say NO" at the counter At the rental counter, waive all insurance. You should check with your credit card, but most credit cards cover rental cars. Waive the toll pass. For it to be worth it, you would have to drive the eastern perimeter of the city 3+ times. Waive the gas service. Fill up before you go back to the rental station. If you have time, check the receipt before you leave Budget. If not, at least ask the return agent if they are going to tack on any additional charges. Take pictures of the car before you leave the rental car center and note any damage. Take pictures of the gas meter and the car after you return it. read more

He was also rude and shut the door in my face after I asked if I could get on through that door and he said Yes. Then you get inside and You have 3-5 employees standing around helping 1 person. DON'T rent from here, I repeat, DO NOT RENT HERE. Don't even make a reservation. I had a reservation with Budget through Costco. I decided I did not need that rental, but they CHARGED ME ANYWAY! They charged me almost $500 for a rental I never used. They charged my credit card on file because I'm a Fastbreak member. If you look at the picture of the receipt, they claim I drove 100 miles for 3 days. I have a receipt from Enterprise (attached), which is who I rented from instead. I definitely drove more than 100 miles over 3 days. I wouldn't have been able to return a vehicle at 8am when my plane departed at 8:05am. Additionally, I didn't get this receipt until this (Monday) morning when I allegedly returned the car yesterday morning. They made sure I had left Denver before sending a receipt. Beware of this place. They are scammy! I'd rate them zero stars if I could. EDIT: In good faith, I tried calling Budget Customer Service at (800) 214-6094, which is the phone number my credit card company has. I had an option to press 1, 2, 3, or 4. None of those options worked and the automated system kept repeating itself. EDIT: Their social media team responded to a different review I wrote and asked me to email them. I did. The response was quick and said my information was forwarded to the appropriate department for a refund. That doesn't cut it. Luckily, I completed their customer satisfaction survey and the Operations Manager, Cody Wilson reached out to me. I explained the situation and he processed the immediate refund I requested. I'm done with Budget. I should not have to do all of this to get money back that shouldn't have been taken in the first place. I had a reservation through Costco for a compact car. After waiting over an hour in line, I got to the counter to be told they only have 12 passenger vans. I asked for a manager and was told they ran out of cars 10 min prior. I asked why they didnt announce they were out of cars and also advise the computers were down when we came inside. They shrugged. I was staying 35 min from the airport, I had no choice but to take the van and was advised I could switch it out in the morning at any location. I was extremely upset and insisted they pay for gas for the rental to which they agreed and wrote it in on my paper contract. The first van we got in had a low tire pressure alert on the rear tire. VERY unsafe, I had to got go back in for a different van. The first location in Denver had already done 4 swaps from the airport & was out of cars. The second location at 2850 26th Ave REFUSED to give us a car. We put the customer service rep we were talking to on the phone with him and he still refused. We were forced to drive back to the airport. The line was even longer than when I left, so I went up to the front and was put in a new vehicle. I asked Yesi to note I was not being charged for gas and she did. She turned her screen so I could take a picture of the note she added. When I dropped off the car, I confirmed i wouldn't be charged for gas. She said I wouldn't. I got my receipt and I was not only charged for gas, I received a second $245 charge for the van as well. The vehicle I was provided had an oil warning about 10 minutes down the road and 30 minutes later the warning went off and never returned? I was sent an email after checking out the vehicle offering add-ons. I decided to have the navigation added and it never worked the entire 3 days I had the vehicle - I mentioned this when I returned the vehicle and wasn't charged. Every visit to this Budget is an adventure. I have never gotten the car on my first attempt. The Wizard program is definitely broken here. The text and email directed to a stall with the wrong vehicle. After going to the counter and having the correct Jeep assigned to me. I went on my way. With the onset of electronic billing, I received the rental agreement email stating the price is $566 instead of $366 as stated from Costco. I called Budget and was told that nothing could be done until the rental is complete. After returning the Jeep, customer service stated I asked for an upgrade and that's the difference. What a cluster. Since Budget put the wrong car in the stall they tried to say I upgraded to the original Jeep? After a 45 minute phone call we finally got it sorted. I don't normally use this company, but did so this time because it was part of a package deal offered by Costco Travel. After waiting nearly half an hour for the Budget shuttle--with a crowd of customers that continued to grow in size and run out of patience--I hitched a ride on the Avis shuttle. Upon arrival at the Avis lot, I took the 15-minute walk to the Budget lot. There, I would wait about another half an hour in line. When it was finally my turn, my suspicion was confirmed about why the process took so long. These people are all salesman, trying to load you up with add-ons and insurance, using assumptive closing questions. So much for the prepaid reservation. I stood my ground and declined the add-ons and insurance. I pay enough for car insurance, as it is, which covers car rental. Why would I pay double? Now I could see what was happening. The reason shuttle service was withheld was due to how long the line at the lot was to pick up the cars. In turn, the line is due to the bottleneck that Budget creates, artificially, by turning the car pickup process into one for salespeople to earn commission. There was no way to skip the line despite having a prepaid reservation. I even used the QR code to provide info while I waited in line. When I got to the agent, he asked for the same information again anyway, which I balked about. read more

I arrived at Denver airport on 5/31 at 6:45pm. I'm a FastBreak member and was assigned a parking spot number for my rental pickup. When I arrived to the Budget parking lot and went to my spot, the space was empty. I went back to the counter and was provided a different rental car. I returned my vehicle on 6/5 at 9:00am with a full tank of gas. I checked my email invoice since I've had issues with this location in the past with additional charges and low and behold, "Fuel Service charge". I walked back to the lady who checked me in "Venus" and she confirmed she checked me in with a full tank of gas. She then took me to the Supervisor inside. The supervisor said there was a software glitch they needed to take care of and he would remove the charge. Here we are 6/12 and I receive an email with toll charges I incurred on this same trip. The only problem was I didn't use a toll road. When reviewing the date/time of the transactions they were before I even landed and they were for a vehicle with a different license plate. WOW! I was charged $31.40. I tried to call the location directly and had no luck. Searching Google reviews confirms this location has a very poor track record. read more

I arrived at the Denver airport and took the Budget Bus to the rental car area. Since I was using Fastbreak, I was assigned a Toyota 4Runner SUV in space L13 by text. I had just enough time to get to the vehicle and get to work. However, there was no vehicle in space L13. The parking lot attendant said I would need to speak to the woman in the building nearby. I explained the situation to her, and she said someone must have taken my vehicle, so I could take the Chevrolet Equinox in space M23. I immediately discovered this was a downgraded (basic) vehicle with no power seats or power hatchback, etc. There was also a noticeable offensive smell, like body odor covered with Febreze. I then discovered the "gearshift" would not engage unless I repeatedly tried to move the stick. Also, I found no headlight switch. I asked the woman at the Budget counter for a replacement or at least a standard vehicle similar to our previous rentals, like the JEEP COMPASS, CHRYSLER VOYAGER, and KIA TELLURIDE. She said if I wanted to change the vehicle, it would be an extra charge; otherwise, I should call customer service. So I called the Budget customer service line at 888-362-8343 and was told the same thing by the representative. After being completely late for work, I just left the rental lot only to find more problems! When attempting to accelerate the Equinox on a short on-ramp to the freeway (or for any reason like going up a hill), the vehicle stalls as if an engine Governor is in place. A message appears stating, "Acceleration Reduced." Vehicles are speeding by me on the freeway at 70-80 mph on the left, but the Equinox would not accelerate to merge into traffic. At one point, a large truck almost rear-ended the Equinox because I was going too slowly. This vehicle failure could get me (or any driver killed!) I found online that "if the Equinox goes into 'limp mode, that indicates a problem, the underlying issue will likely cause the problem to return, so you must address the root cause, which could be a faulty sensor, a dirty throttle body, or low fluids, by getting the vehicle professionally serviced." The bottom line is, I notified Budget that I wanted this vehicle replaced as soon as possible at another Budget location with the same Standard SUV features we have had in the past. I was told to just call other Budget locations but they claimed to have no vehicles available. This experience with the Equinox vehicle and the treatment by the employees of Budget has really shown that they have no care for their customers or their lives on the road. I have emailed Budget and called, but have received no reply to this situation. Bottom line is, they have proven they do not care about their customers. I would strongly recommend that if you value your life on the road and want a comfortable, reliable vehicle to rent, do NOT rent from Budget Car Rental!! read more

They don't go in order of vehicles either- it's like they draw random letters from a hat and if your ticket number starts with that letter then they will take you to your car. Picking up this rental car was the same time as my flight here from Detroit. Oh- they also don't have enough cars here! They told us to wait because they ran out of our vehicle type and we ended up having to beg for a downgraded car just to get out of the sun. Avoid at all costs. I will never use Buget again after my terrible experience with Budget at the Denver airport. I reserved a standard car. When I got to the Budget office, they told me all they had was an electric car or a 12 seater van. Neither would work for my trip since I was headed up to the mountains on narrow roads. I was told my reservation didn't count because I didnt' pay in advance. however, my reseravation literally said, "Reserve now, pay later." So clearly Budget has no integrity to keep their word. After I kept complaining, the manger told me they have a vechile for me. They told me to go to section L and there were about 8 cars ready to be driven. My wife and I heard two other customers being told that night that they needed to take a 12 seater van. One had to take an uber instead. Waited about 20 minutes at 930pm for a shuttle to facility, not terrible but not ideal. We had to shorten our trip (primal drop off Monday) so I called customer service to change our drop off date to a day earlier (Sunday). Employee said sure and then changed it to two days earlier (Saturday), I told him that wasn't correct and he needed to fix it. He said I'd have to pay an extra $130 to get it changed to Sunday. What? I told him he screwed up and needed to fix it. He told me everything on his end said Sunday while I told him my app and paperwork he sent said Saturday. I requested he fix it and he said let me look into it, then put me on hold and hung up on me. I called back to another employee and she said the system says Saturday drop off (original employee lied) and I would need to pay $130 to get it changed to Sunday. I refused and was told to call another phone number (Avis). The best the 3rd employee could do was give me Sunday drop off at my original price. I've used Avis/ Budget twice in the last year and both times had employees lie about what they were going to do and then be passed around to different employees to attempt to fix it. Beyond frustrated doesn't even begin to touch upon my experience in dealing with this specific Budget location. Let me start by saying that I've been a Fastbreak member with Budget for many years and have generally had terrific experiences at other locations throughout the country. This specific location, however, left a lot to be desired. Enough to the point that when we return to the area next summer, I'll likely look to rent from another company. To begin, our flight was 4+ hours delayed arriving into DEN because of bad weather in the area (obviously, not Budget's fault). Once we landed and collected our luggage, we went out to the rental car island to wait for the shuttle bus. After observing the Avis bus come and go several times, we decided to check the company website for this specific location and became aware that the shuttle bus for Budget stopped running at 12:30AM (it's now about 1AM) and wouldn't resume service until at least 3:30AM. Nothing outside stated that the shuttle service was not 24/7. Whatever...it's late, we're tired, and still have at least an hour's drive to our hotel. We decided to take a taxi to the tune of about $40. Fine...whatever! As long as we can get to the rental car terminal, locate our vehicle, and end the last leg of our trip for the day...I'm golden! We arrived at the rental car terminal and headed toward the spot where I'm told (via text message) that our rental vehicle (Jeep Wrangler) would be located. Surprise, surprise...the vehicle wasn't there! At this point, I walked inside the terminal, waited in line for the next available agent (mind you, one-by-one, they're all walking away from the counter as their shift appears to be over). Finally, it's my turn at the counter and I advised that we've arrived several hours later than the original time indicated in the reservation and am unable to locate the vehicle I was told would be waiting for me in spot D13. The agent insisted that the vehicle should be there at which point I politely directed her attention to the text message I've received and the empty spot outside. She quickly apologized for the inconvenience and indicated that she would be more than willing to acccommodate a change in vehicle as several other Jeep Wranglers were available, but that I'd have to walk the lot to locate them as she was now working alone and couldn't leave the customer service desk. I thought...strange, but no problem! Especially if it gets me outta here as it's now after 2AM, I'm cold and very tired. I walked the lot for several minutes, found two suitable replacements but discovered the key was missing from one. I brought the only available key into the agent, and she promptly made the necessary adjustments in the system. With a few key strokes, we were off. This was not the end, however, as the vehicle I located was in the Fastbreak lane (H) and had another vehicle (Toyota Prius) behind it blocking my exit. Knowing that they were already short staffed, I simply hopped in the Prius, moved it out of the way, and pulled my Jeep Wrangler out so that my partner and I could load up and leave. It's now almost 3AM. Upon return of the vehicle, I received a receipt that showed almost $130 in additional charges. When I contacted customer service, I was immediately put off by the heavily accented man pretending to have an American name (probably working from a call center in India, Pakistan or Bangladesh). He repeatedly interrupted me to advise that I was charged additional fees for my rental because I left the lot with the vehicle several hours prior to my original pick-up time. When I advised that this information was false as we arrived late into DEN, the agent asserted that I would need to provide proof that my flight was delayed and seemingly belittled me by insisting that I shouldn't be too concerned as the charge was only about $25 + tax. He also suggested that I returned the vehicle without a full tank of gas. Also false...I stopped at a gas station on Pena Blvd to fill up the tank just prior to our scheduled drop-off time. I was charged an additional $56 + tax for failing to return the vehicle with a full tank. Joke! As this agent clearly had no authority to rectify the matter, I asked to have the case elevated to someone local with whom I could have a conversation. The agent advised that someone would reach out to me within the next 5-7 business days and here we are almost a month later and I have yet to hear from anyone at Budget regarding the nature of my complaint. I'm a very simple man who clearly recognizes that not everything goes smoothly in the travel and tourism business during busy summer months, but this was just a bad experience all around (which really is unfortunate as the Jeep Wrangler itself was terrific for our needs). DO NOT RENT FROM THIS PLACE. Made an online car reservation, went to pick up reserved car as indicated, and they couldn't provide a car within 45 minutes. This was at 8:00 am, Sunday morning. Not a holiday. Not busy. Was the only one in line. They're all sitting on their cell phones at the counter doing absolutely nothing. Worst customer service ever. read more
